NOTICE: In this story, Brooke and Julian start dating earlier on in the show and are married with a baby by the time Lucas and Peyton throw their wedding.
Tears filled the green eyes of the young girl, somehow diminishing the California sunshine that once illuminated her day. "Seriously, Mom, are you really making me go? Like this? You and dad both know that I just don't belong there, especially right now." She stumbled and choked on her words, but that didn't hide the anger in her voice. "Sawyer, honey, I know you're upset and I know your heart is broken but that is no reason to stop living! Trust me, I've been there, and I wish I didn't let my broken heart keep me from experiencing everything that life has to offer. Who knows, baby, you might love Tree Hill." "And even if you don't, it's just one week." Lucas appeared in the doorway and and walked over to the bed where the two sat. Kneeling down, he brushed the wavy golden locks, damp from hours of crying, away from her face. "Sawyer Brooke Scott, you are smart, kind and beautiful. Don't waste any more of your precious tears on a boy like Jeffrey. It's been two weeks. It's time for you to get away, to have a new experience. Our trip to Tree Hill couldn't come at a better time." She nodded and wiped one last tear. The past two weeks had been hard. She had been living in the aftermath of a horrific breakup, trying to cope with the fact that she had been cheated on, used and abused. At only 16 years old that is a hard pill to swallow. On days when she wasn't sad she was angry, and when she was both sad and angry she ended up bitter. Flying across the country to face the unknown people and surroundings in Tree Hill was the last thing she wanted to do. But she wanted to do it for her parents. She knew how much they missed Tree Hill, along with all the friends and family they left there. Finding time to go back was hard, but seven years later her parents had finally found a valid excuse: their 20 year high school reunion. She knew this was important for them, and that they desperately wanted her to be with them. Sawyer looked down, trying to maintain a solemn expression. "Fine. I'll go. But don't be upset when everyone in Tree Hill finds out that Saint Lucas and Saint Peyton's little daughter is a crabby bitch." Peyton cracked a smile and looked up at Lucas. "She really is our child, isn't she?" Lucas chuckled "She is definitely your child!" he remarks sarcastically. Peyton's jaw dropped in laughter, and she playfully slapped him. "Stop it, you!" They ended up on the floor of Sawyer's bedroom, exchanging in an extreme tickle war. Sawyer's eyes rolled and she threw herself back onto her bed dramatically. "Seriously guys, sometimes I forget that I'm not the parent in this family!" "Oh, good," Lucas replied amidst his exchange with Peyton "because we were hoping you'd take care of dinner tonight." She rolled her eyes once again, this time trying to hold in a smile. Having parents that were still so completely in love with each other could be annoying sometimes. When they were finished with their childish "fight" they sat themselves on the edge of her bed, forcing their daughter into a group hug. "Tree Hill or bust!" Peyton shouted. "Whether we like it or not." Sawyer muttered under her breath.
