Chapter Thirty Eight
"Its so beautiful out here" I sighed watching the waves hit the shore of the island. I could feel Dimitri's fingers intertwine with mine even further if that was even possible.
"It really is, but you are prettier than any sunset I've seen." Laughing I smacked Dimitri's chest.
"You are such a cheeseball. God, remember when we first met?" I laughed recalling the memory as did he. " Yes, you were quite ..charming, weren't you." He told me giving a low chuckle again.
"I didn't want to be married to a complete stranger, and my parents had handed me off like a piece of property. It was and when I think about It kind of infuriating." He smiled, and watching I saw him stare off into the horizon.
Stopping, Dimitri sat in the sand and carefully helped me lower myself in between his legs, my back pressing against his chest, his arms wrapping around me and his hands covering my stomach.
"Did you ever find out the truth behind the arrangement of our engagement?" I asked Dimitri as his hands trailed over my growing abdomen.
"Hmm, not really Milaya, my father never really told me why I was to be married off. It was my grandmother though I guess. She was always a cryptic woman… Always thought she was a teller of the future. And knew what was best for us.
I gave a laugh. " My dad thinks that way." I laughed again. " My mom told me that it was your grandmother as you said, she said that the words of your grandmother were "Make sure my grandson settles down and finds a girl that will be able to unlock his heart." Is what my mother told me anyway."
I could feel him nodding behind me. "She never did think that I would love anyone, she thought I had too much heartbreak as a child, losing my mother, losing her and then my sisters leaving me behind. It would make sense. I wonder what would make our parents agree to it though?" He leaned his chin on my shoulder and kissed the skin.
"I don't know, no one will ever know I think, but I am grateful for their lack of faith in you finding a wife."
"Oh? Why is that? You don't think I could have found a woman on my own either?" I shook my head grinning.
"No, but Im glad that I ended up being your wife, and the mother to your child. Without their lack of faith, I wouldn't have met you. I am thankful for them." I leaned further into him tracing circles ontop of his hand.
"I am glad to be married to you too Milaya. Who would've thought that we would work out so well? I thought you hated me when you first met me.?" The question in his voice very clear.
"I didn't trust anyone, and you were an ass. Honestly Dimitri, you were kind of a dick."
"No I wasn't. you were kind of sass." I turned toward him as best as I could and stuck my tongue out. "Whatever." We both vibrated with laughter. Suddenly I bolted upright as a movement caught my attention. Staring straight ahead I placed my hand on the center of my stomach.
"Dimitr,"
"Roza, whats wrong?" Worry evident in his voice as he sat up with me.
"Did you feel that?"
He leaned closer. "Feel what love?" movement happened once more.
"THAT?!" I grabbed his hand and placed it where mine had been resting. Again, it fluttered against his hand. I could feel the hitch in his breath against my neck.
"IS that.." He asked. I nodded tears welling in my eyes. Kisses travelled my neck and up to my jawline. "You have made me the most happiest Roza." It was in that moment that it felt like my life finally felt content and happy.
Leaning back, we both just stayed silent, content with our life, I don't know what Dimitri was thinking about, but I was thinking baby names. Even though we didn't know the gender, I wanted to have names ready for both Genders.
"Alexsander." I blurted out. " Who?"
"The baby's name.. If it's a boy I think we should name him Alexsander – you know, after your dad. I know you told me you didn't have the best relationship, but I think that its only proper. To remember him and start new?" I asked him holding his hands reassuringly.
Nodding, a smile graced his lips."I love that idea Roza." He kissed my head.
"As for a girl, I have a name, or do you have one picked out if we have a daughter ?" I shook my head. I was curious to hear his name . " Ekaterina. I know its old fashion, but I don't want to have a flower theme name thing going on, and her English name would translate to Katherine. I know its not after one of our mothers names, but something about that name has drawn me in." I didn't have to see what his face looked like to know he was blushing, just by the way he rubbed the back of his neck.
"I love it." I told him wiping a tear from my eye. We would have beautiful children, and their names were mirrors of what was to come. Leaning into him once more, I could feel myself become content again. That was until Dimitri's phone started to ring. And in an instant it was like a total de ja vu feeling.
"Belikov speaking." A moment of silence was held before a rough grunt and then I was being hoisted off the ground.
"Dimitti? Whats going on?" No reply.
"Dimitri, don't be a stubborn ass. What is happening? Stop dragging me." I smacked his hand on my wrist.
"We need to pack up and fly back. Right now." He turned around again and headed to the house.
He called over his shoulder. " We got a lead on who has been coming after us, but Rose." No Roza.
My voice shrunk down. " What HAPPENED Dimitr?" He knew with that tone. He gave a good sigh.
"The good news is Adrian knows who has been after you, they have them in confinement. But, Theres bad news though." He ran his slender fingers through his hair. I stood there just watching him.
"The bad news though, they went after Lissa, and she's not doing so well Roza. Im sorry." Suddenly my chest was pounding faster than it ever had been, and the last thing I saw was Dimitri rushing to me as the ground rushed to embrace me. And that's all I remember before the darkness took over my mind.
Hur hur hur. Hope you all enjoyed that :D
