Chapter Fourty.

It had been a week since the confession from Mia. A little more than a week Lissa had been in the hospital, still unconscious. I was sitting by her side holding onto her hand. I had been here for the past few days while Dimitri had to return back to work, teaching Adrian different roles for him and different plans.

Christian had been in and out of the hospital but also had to return and work. I told him I would stay by her side and let him know of any changes. I couldn't help but sit there and really look at her. How her skin colour was paler than normal, and her blonde platinum hair without its glow. It was such a depressing sight.

Sighing I rubbed my stomach unconsciously and stood up wandering over to the window to look out. It was such a beautiful day out. The sun was beaming and the shine was almost too much, but feeling the warmth of the rays felt nice, I couldn't help but to close my eyes and give a light sigh.

"Rose?" Opening my eyes I turned around, only to be met with the same jade green eyes of Lissa, only in male form.

"Andre?" A smile broke across my face as I pretty much launched myself at him.

"How have you been?" I wrapped my arms around his torso, hugging him for comfort. By his facial expression, dull and tired, I knew that this accident with Lissa had taken its toll.

His arms came around my waist as best as he could with my stomach in between us.

"I've been better, what are you doing here Rose? Actually nevermind, don't answer that." He gave a light chuckle.

Leading him to the couch we sat down staring towards Lissa. "I've missed seeing you around Andre. Where have you been?" I asked turning my body so that I could face him and drape my legs across his lap. We had always been close, I mean I had been this close to being in a serious relationship. I knew that at this moment though he would never do anything to jeopardize the relationship I had with Dimitri. It just wasn't who he was.

He stared at Lissa a little longer. Sadness in his eyes.

"Ive been busy, just university right now. My business major is kicking my butt and right now with Lissa.." Emotion thick in his voice. Gently he rested his arms on my legs clasping them together. He looked over at me.

"You think she's going to pull out of this? The doctors don't know why shes taking so long to wake up; That the concussion she received shouldn't have caused such a long out. The other doctor says it could be her entirety. The want to wake up. She has to wake up though. I don't know what I'll do if she doesn't wake up. I need my sister."

I put my hands over his. "She will wake up, and just what I said to Christian as well, Lissa is strong and you of all people should know this. She will make it out. She's just resting and when she is fully healed she will wake up. " I gave him a smile before rubbing my stomach again. I could feel the fluttering, my baby, moving inside me was one of the greatest feelings.

Andre's eyes travelled down, lips parted slightly before he gave a light humourless chuckle. "I am jealous of Belikov you know. That he gets to have this whole life with you, I truly am envious of him." He closed his eyes and leaned his head back.

"I squeezed his hands. "One day Andre, you are going to find a girl that will capture your heart and you will sweep her off her feet. Its only a matter of time. As much as we were attracted to each other and as passionate we were together, I think to myself that maybe we would have lost that attraction, but I will always have a spot for you as my friend, as painful as that may sound now I know its for the best hmm?" He just grunted and I gave a small sad laugh.

"Im glad my favorite brother and best friend didn't marry and have babies, that'd be gross…" Whipping our heads toward that voice, both of us sprung up from the couch, well I trying to get up and Andre helping me, but in the end we both flew towards Lissa.

"Youre awake!?" I cried flinging my arms around her neck, leaning over the beds edge. Her one arm coming around behind me and rubbing my back. I couldn't help the tears that fell from my eyes.

"Of course, you think I would just leave you like that? Leave Christian? Or you , my dearest brother." Tears glistened in both their eyes, and unfortunately I let go of Lissa and let Andre come in for the hug. They were truly beautiful siblings, both like Angels. Rhea and Eric really did have beautiful kids. Leaving them for a moment I pulled out my phone and dialed Christian's number walking from the room to tell him the good news and call Dimitri as well.

It wasn't long before Lissa had been discharged from the hospital. She was under light activity orders. Nothing too strenuous. Which had Christian driving her to my house everyday and letting her stay with me at my home. While the guys worked, we got to be our favorite things.. house wifes.. not the best thing we wanted in life but for right now it was okay.

Sitting at my kitchen table eating ben and jerrys icecream seemed to be the thing right now and that's exactly what we associated with Lissa's wedding planning. She had to marry at some point but because she was the person she was, she was waiting until the baby was to be born. So next April she scheduled her wedding. April 28 would be the day my best friend married the man of dreams and I could not be more excited for her.

Her wedding was going to be extravagant that was for sure.

"Rose, I cannot WAIT for the baby to be born. When are we going to do the nursery?" Lissa asked tucking her legs underneath her body. I laughed, she was too eager.

"Im going to ask Dimitri to paint it a mint green when he has time, and then we can go from there. I know I picked a paint without you but I really want gender neutral. I want yellows and greens. No pinks or blues used because its cliché and I want something original. Im going to paint a mural after the baby is born as well. The green will be my canvas."

Lissa gushed, apparently she liked that idea. "What do you think youre going to have?" Lissa asked stuffing another spoonful of strawberry icecream filled with cheesecake into her mouth. I thought for a moment it was hard to say.

"Im not too sure, at some points I feel like it could be a boy, I mean have you seen my shape? Im huge already for how many months I am. 6 months I should not be this big. And before you say anything because I know what you are thinking – IT IS NOT twins. I have had extra ultrasounds in case. Only one baby in here. But I think Im leaning more towards a boy. I think its intuition. Dimitri says a girl though. He is adamant that it is a girl. He says with my cravings and my hormones, that it is a girl. But I guess we will find out on the day of baby's arrival right?" Lissa smiled and nodded.

It was days like this that felt most normal. The next three months were going to be chaotic in preparations but I was excited, nervous and just content. It was going to be enough time to learn more and grow more with Dimitri, to have ups and downs, and to be a couple. Even though it was a planned marriage, a deal that still to this day we didn't really have more idea on, a promise made to one woman who had superstitions.

Playing with my ring on my finger I smiled, hearing the door open in the front. "Roza, Im back." His warm voice encircled me sending a smile to my lips I could only stand and look to see a man who had first been future husband, who now was my husband, future father to our child.

It made my heart ache with happiness, to know I had a future family with him. To know that there was always going to be love and family. Once angry with my lifes evets, I was now looking at them with a positive mind, and a grateful mind.

Dimitri and my baby, they were my present and my future.
