Chapter 4:
It sure is bright today, thought Daikokuten, with barrels of sweat rolling down his face.
The sun shined so brightly and yet everything still looked as new and lively as before. It was strange and a bit creepy, he thought distatchedly, staring at them with intensity.
He fanned himself with his bag of chips in hopes of the heat subsiding.
It didn't work.
"Mou! Why is it so hot today?" He pouted at the sky and stomped his feet, making the flower pots and mail boxes jump an inch from its original spot.
"It couldn't get any hotter than this, could it?", he complained in a whiny voice.
I wish it was more colder...
"Hmph!"
He eventually walked into the shade of one of the huge oak trees and laid down on the warm grass.
He sighed in pleasure and closed his eyes to help cool down.
"So much better than doing what I'm supposed to be doing…Zzzzz" He dozes off into a candy wonderland and doesn't wake up until well later in the night.
"Chirp! Chirp!"
He slowly opens his eyes at the noise and stands up with his legs making crackling noises. The scorching sun was long gone with the moon shining brightly in its place.
He thanks the dove for waking him up and it flies away with the rest of its brethren.
"Are?" He tilts his head to the side when he felt something in his robes pocket.
"Nani?! A popsicle!" He quickly gobbles up the popsicle that had miraculously not melted, while tears of joy ran down his face.
In just a few seconds, the popsicle had disappeared in Daikokuten's endless pit of a stomach.
"Wonder who gave this to me~? Hmm…"
He grabs the wrapper that had fallen in his conquest of devouring the popsicle, and concentrates his power over a wide radius.
He opens his eyes, not realizing that they were closed, and smiles ever so gently.
"Sou ka. I thought the feeling near me was familiar. Guess I'll go visit him~".
He skips his way to the gardens with a candy in his hand, and arrives in no less than ten minutes.
In he goes, not really admiring the roses since he's been there so many times, and goes behind the tall pillar.
In it, is a gallery of white roses dedicated the the Virgin Mary. It was nice, he supposed, but it wasn't one of his interests.
Sitting on a bench in front of the single white, glowing rose, was a pale, blue haired seemingly child.
He couldn't hide his presence as well as the person in front of him could, but he could at least use his powers to conceal himself from the distracted person in front of him.
Daikokuten does so and leaves quickly as he arrived in order to avoid being seen.
"Hmm? What's this?" The blue haired boy looks at the small treat that was behind him as he got up to go home.
It was vanilla candy from Koporo that had gotten famous for their baked goods and delicious sweets that Daikokuten-kun himself made. It was honestly godsend to even eat one his treats and to receive one from him was a surprise, but he guesses that it was a gift for helping out Daikokuten-kun earlier.
He pops it into his mouth and smiles.
Daikokuten-kun's treats were truly the best.
