Hi people! Thanks for all the fantastic reviews! Sorry I'm still slow for updating this story, at least i'm getting faster. Any ideas for future chapters would be greatly appreciated! Even though i've got most of them planned out I love hearing your ideas! Well, here's the next chapter! Hope you like it!
(Roy's Pov)
After Ed had woken up they had continued along the road leading up and around the rolling hills. The continued to walk for the rest of the day. The continued along at a steady pace, stopping whenever Ed complained about hungry he was. Roy glanced down at the cat padding closely behind him at a fast pace. He had to remember that Ed's legs were not as long as they used to be and he had to slow his pace considerable so the small cat could stay up with him. As much as Ed protested the slow pace Roy knew that he had not yet got used to his new body.
Ed caught his eye and glared up at him "What are you looking at?" he growled, his ears where drooped and his tail dragging in the dirt behind him making a long straight trail in the dust behind them.
"You want to stop for a while?" Roy asked, immediately noticing the raggedness of the young alchemists voice, Ed was too proud to ask for a break.
"No," he replied immediately "I'm fine." That was the end of it. Ed shook out his fur and turned his gaze to the trail a head of them.
Roy sighed and turned back to continue the trek. After a few hours of walking, nothing but rolling hills and empty roads surrounding them they finally came to a break in the constant scenery. A line of trees blocked their path. Normally you'd just walk through the trees right? Well that might be slightly difficult, a tall fence surrounded the trees, barbed points sticking out from the top and the occasional flicker of electricity between them.
"Well this is just great!" Ed snapped, sarcasm dripping from his voice "We can barbecue ourselves trying to get through." He huffed and fell back on his haunches.
Roy was not so quick to give up. He walked forward and studied the fence. A large sign with bright red words was hung on the fence. NO TRESPASSING. He narrowed his eyes and spotted a small shack through the trees.
"I think that's the power supply to the fence." He scooped up Ed "If I throw you over you should be able to make it over there to cut the power, then we can head up to the mansion."
Ed struggled in his grip "How do we even know this is where Al is being held?"
"How do we know it's not?"
"Can't you just blow it up?" He asked
"Yeah, and get us arrested for destroying someone's property, that'll help get Al back." Roy reasoned "This way may be slower but we won't get arrested unless we get caught."
"Fine! Just make sure you get me over the fence."
Roy grinned and held Ed around his waist. He threw the cat underhand up and over the large fence, just managing to clear the top of it. Ed landed gracefully and turned back to nod to Roy "I'll be back soon, don't get caught while I'm gone."
(Ed's Pov)
Ed sprinted through the long grass. It only took him half a minute to reach the shack, when he skidded to a stop.
"Really?" he hissed "You've got to be kidding me!" Sitting in front of the door was a large black dog, it looked bored but its ears where pricked for noise "This is going to be SO much harder than I had originally planned."
After a few minutes the dog snorted and fell to the ground, its legs splayed out around it. Ed figured this would be the best time to attack. He bunched up his muscles and shot from the bushes like a golden arrow. The dog jumped to its feet and started barking like mad. Ed danced around its legs and made a desperate dash for the… closed door. Swearing he swerved sharply to the left his paws skidding across the ground.
The dog, still barking, slammed into the door not able to stop the momentum he had built up. The dog! That was his way into the shack. Turning he made a circle and ran for the door again this time slowing his steps to taunt the dog. Just before he reached the door he jumped as high as he could and pushed off of it. He had used this trick so many times in his human body it had just become a reflex. With a loud crash the dog slammed into and through the wooden door.
As soon as Ed landed he spun on a paw and rushed into the shack. The dog was on the ground covered in broken wood. It was still fuming with anger but seemed to have given up on catching Ed.
Inside the shack wasn't that interesting. There was a box on the left side and a few chairs in the middle, to the right hung a few appliances. Ed trotted up to the wall with the box and jumped up to open the metal door. It took a few times but he eventually wrenched the door open, luckily it wasn't locked. It was filled with switched and wires.
"I wonder what one will turn off the electricity…." Naturally, Ed jumped up and raked his claws down the mess of wires. The light flickered in the room flickered out so he assumed that one of them must have been the power. Satisfied, he turned back to the dog and smirked "I won this round." Without waiting for a response he ran out of the room and back to the fence.
(Roy's Pov)
After multiple loud crashed, the barking, and a small electrical explosion along the top of the fence Ed finally sauntered back into view "Get moving Colonel Bastard, we don't have all day."
"What was happening over there?" Roy questioned, climbing the fence with ease "It was loud."
Ed flicked his tail proudly and looked up at Roy "Just a dog, I took care of it." He swiveled his ears in the direction of the shack.
"You broke the door?" he asked
"Yes."
"And I'm guessing you broke the controls."
"Yeah…"
"I guess it was the only way…" Roy tried "We can pay for it later if this isn't the place."
Ed simply shrugged and continued to walk towards the mansion. He occasionally disappeared in the long grass but he could be spotted out easily, his golden fur stood out like fire and he wasn't the quietest animal in the area.
They stopped in in the shadows of a wall when they finally got close to the mansion "We are going to have to find another way in." Roy hissed quietly "They will see us if we walk in the front door."
Ed nodded "Let's do this!"
Did they find the mansion Al was trapped in? Well you're gonna have to wait to find out! I like writing cliff hangers but hate reading them XD Please review, it would make my day!
