Obviously this storyline takes place shortly before the end of The Further Adventure of River Song Chapter 37.
THE END OF ONE ENEMY AND THE RETURN OF ANOTHER
Rosanna smiled as she thought of her army of vampires ripping apart the Bad Wolves at the same moment that she was talking with Fenric. She just wished that she could see it in person. She knew that she couldn't waste time with such a petty thing as revenge right now though.
Now while her enemies were all distracted, it was time to finally carry out her main plan at last.
"Rose discovering that you were possessing Alex when she did has moved up our timetable somewhat, but it really doesn't matter. It just means that we have to carry out our plan now while everyone else is distracted. It still won't affect the outcome in the slightest. Soon this whole world will be ours," Rosanna said to Fenric.
"Then humanity will finally pay the price for what they did to my Ushas by being cursed to become blood sucking monsters for the rest of eternity. I couldn't think of a better fate for them if I tried," Fenric said as he started to laugh maniacally at the chance to gain revenge on the humans that he blamed for the death of the woman who should have been his wife so long ago.
Rosanna frowned at him because he seemed to be indirectly calling her a monster as well. She didn't see herself that way though. She only did what she must in order to survive. She found herself thinking not for the first time since she had started a relationship with Fenric that he was only using her for his own ends.
Then again she was doing the exact same thing with him. Yet again she was doing what she had to in order for her people to survive. She needed this planet in order for them to thrive after all.
Soon all of the waters of this world would belong to them, and no one would stop her from bringing that about this time. No one would even know what was happening until it was too late to do anything about it.
Rosanna immediately started to activate the ancient technology of the Great Vampires and set her plan into motion as a disembodied being with glowing red eyes watched unseen by either her or Fenric nearby. The evil being laughed to himself as he thought about how neither the Bad Wolves or Fenric and Rosanna realized that he was even there. One day they all would though.
They would all find out soon enough that this was the day that one of humanity's greatest enemies had retuned to walk the Earth once more.
Meanwhile back at UNIT HQ, Kallista Gold who now knew herself to be the Jenny Tyler of the previous universe was leading a charge through the massive army of vampires keeping her away from Lauren. She wasn't about to let them kill Donna's future daughter without a fight first even if these weren't the Donna and Lauren that she once knew.
They were close enough for her.
"I can't believe that it was you, Jen. I'm so stupid! I really thought that you were my mum," April said as she fought alongside her sister while the two primordial entities incinerated vampires left and right in a mad dash to get to Lauren before anything happened to her.
"No, you wanted me to be her so much that you overlooked all of the clues that should have told you who I really was. I'm sorry that you lost her, Andromeda. I really am. We were both mortal enemies, but we could always agree on one thing: our love for you. Maybe you'll find her yet. Who knows? She may be where you least expect her to be. That's usually the way things like that work," Kallista said in a hopeful voice.
"Always the optimist, Jen," April said with a fond smile on her face.
"Less yap and more fighting, you two! You can get reacquainted later. Right now I want my daughter back!" Donna ordered.
"Same old Donna," Kallista said with a chuckle.
"Yeah, she's like a universal constant. No matter what universe you're in she's always the woman with the big mouth covering up a heart of gold," April agreed.
"If I didn't need you two so much right now, I'd clobber the both of you," Donna said in anger as she continued to use her Vortex Laptop's laser to cut a path through the vampires around her as she tried desperately to find Lauren.
"I missed her so much," Kallista said with a tear in her eye and a sniff.
"Why?" Ileana joked as she absorbed the life forces of vampires left and right and began to grow noticeably taller and larger the more of them that she killed.
"Oi! Watch it . . ." Donna said and then started to cry before she could finish her retort.
Donna's tears began to fall freely now and almost clouded her vision even as she continued to fight the vampires that were standing between her and her daughter. Ileana immediately felt awful for joking around. She hadn't meant to make Donna upset. She had just wanted to make her laugh in order to keep her mind off of things.
"D-Don't worry, honey. W-We'll get her b-back. I k-know that we will," Lee said in a gentle voice.
"I hope so. She can't be supposed to die this way, Lee. I can't believe that. I just won't," Donna said in an upset voice.
"I'm sorry, Donna. I wasn't trying to make light of the situation. I want you to get her back too," Ileana said.
"I know," Donna said in a sad voice.
"Don't worry, Donna. I can see her. She's near a mirror right now struggling with some of the vampires that took her. She's . . . Yeah, she's beating them up! She's your daughter alright," Michelle said with a chuckle.
"Does she look alright?" Donna asked in a worried voice.
"Yeah, from what I can see of her. I don't see any wounds anywhere," Michelle said.
"Hurry up! We need to get to her now while she's still in one piece!" Donna shouted in an alarmed voice even as part of her felt a sense of relief at Michelle's words.
Rose was about to rush off to join the rest of the Wolves despite having her powers stripped from her inside the Vortex shielded UNIT base when she heard laughter nearby. She turned to see the being with the glowing red eyes who had been watching Rosanna and Fenric earlier now watching her as well.
"It's you, isn't it?" Rose asked with a sigh.
"Of course it's me. Did you really think that I would stay dead forever? I will never die!" The malevolent being said with a voice that sounded like it came from the deepest, darkest crypt.
"I have to admit that I did, yeah. Silly me! So what's really going on here? Why risk showing yourself to me when I didn't even know that you were back?" Rose asked.
"I just wanted you to be the first to know that I have returned and that I will be watching all of you. Even if you win here today, I'll still be waiting in the wings just ready to strike sooner or later. As for why I'm telling you now, it's not like you have the power to stop me at the moment anyway trapped in here. If I wished, I could tear you apart right now," The malevolent being said as it laughed at her.
"I don't see you doing anything though but mucking about, yeah? Even now you're scared of me, aren't you? You should be, mate. You just made a big mistake showing yourself to me," Rose said
"We will see, Bad Wolf," The glowing being said as it suddenly faded away.
"Did you hear that, Doctor?" Rose said as she spoke into her cell phone which had been sitting open in her hand since she first saw the entity.
"Yes. I heard the whole thing. I should have known that something more was going on. What do you think that he's up to?" the Doctor asked.
"I don't know. Whatever it is he must feel pretty confident to show himself now before he's even done anything yet. He really must think that he's already won," Rose said.
"We're just going to have to prove him wrong then won't we? Are you going to be alright without your powers? How is the lack of Vortex energy affecting you?" the Doctor asked in concern.
"I'm doing alright so far, Doctor. UNIT let just enough energy come through for me to be able to live, and I don't need my powers to handle vampires. Don't worry. I can take care of myself. You need to see if you can find some clue as to what Fenric's really up to instead of thinking about me," Rose said.
"I couldn't stop thinking about you if I tried. Not that I ever have not even when I thought that I had lost you. I never wanted to stop thinking about you. Either of you," the Doctor admitted.
Rose smiled as she said, "Well, try to tone it down some then just this once so that you can save the Earth. Then you can drool over me all you want afterwards."
"Be careful. I'll take you up on that," the Doctor said with a smile in his voice.
"I certainly hope so. Take care of yourself, Doctor," Rose said as she shut off the phone and ran to join the others.
"You too," the Doctor said with a worried voice as he started to use the TARDIS' sensors to scan the Earth for newly activated alien technology or any other signs of new alien activity.
As Rose caught up to the others, she noticed with pride that the vampires were being rapidly wiped out and the base retaken a little at a time. Some parts of it were already free now and being defended by regular UNIT officers as she passed through them.
She could see part of the reason for the growing decline in power of the vampires right in front of her as she saw Tori incinerating a dozen vampires at a time with the plasma being shot out of her Auton hand guns. The living star in a modified Auton body was still not saying much or having anything to do with the rest of the group, but in battle she was more than holding her own alongside all of the rest of them. Rose made herself a mental note to try to get the obviously shy star to open up to the others more later on.
"Good job, Tori!" Rose said with a thumbs-up.
"Thanks. I hope that Donna's daughter is going to be okay," Tori said before looking away from her.
"I'm sure she'll be alright. Thank you, Tori. I really do appreciate it. You're really helping us to turn the tide here," Rose said as she tried to make her feel more like one of the group.
Tori smiled and nodded as she said, "I could probably do more, but I'm afraid that I might kill everyone in the base."
"Yeah, you just might if you go too far. I think it's best that you just keep doing what you're doing, okay? You're doing a good job, Tori," Rose said.
Tori smiled even wider this time as she said, "Thanks, Rose. Uh, I mean Captain Tyler."
"No, you got it right the first time, mate. It's Rose. It's always Rose to my friends," Rose said as she smiled at her encouragingly.
For the first time, Tori started not to feel so awkward and out of place with the Wolves.
As Rose tried to draw the star girl out of her shell, Lilith was using her power to incinerate one vampire after another simply by saying their true names. Each time that she did another of them burst into flames and turned into ashes in a matter of seconds.
Ileana shivered a little while she watched this in awe as she said, "Did I ever mention how much I like you, Lilith? I mean I really, really like you. You're so beautiful, funny, and sweet. Smart too. You're just the coolest person ever."
Lilith laughed as she said, "Relax, Lana. I'd never hurt you no matter how mad I got at you."
"Just making sure. That vampire smiting attack that you've got going on there is just . . . amazing. Not to mention incredibly scary to watch," Ileana said with a nervous smile.
Lilith gave her friend a quick hug and said, "Don't worry about it. Donna would kill me if I ever did anything to you. Now she's scary!"
Both of them shivered as Ileana said, "You've got that right."
"Scaring the willies out of Lana, Lil?" Emmy said with a mischievous grin as she joined her best friend in attacking the vampires by using a staser set to emit a high intensity laser beam against them.
"Not intentionally. It seems that no matter how human I act I'm still scary without even trying to be," Lilith said.
"Don't worry. She was just teasing you," Emmy said.
"Mostly but I could see some real fear there in her face. She knows that I wouldn't do it, but it terrifies her that I could. I hate scaring even my own friends," Lilith admitted.
That was when Amanda came running up to them with a terrified look on her face and grabbed ahold of Lilith's hand as she said, "I'm so glad that I found you. I was separated from Mum by a large group of fish vampires. I thought for sure that they were about to grab me for a minute there. I'm so glad that you were nearby, Lilith. I was so scared until I saw you."
Lilith smiled and stroked the little girl's hair to calm her down as Emmy said, "You were saying?"
"Maybe I just scare Lana," Lilith admitted with relief.
Nearby Katherine was frantically searching for Amanda when she ran across Calliope and asked her, "Have you seen Amanda? I can't find her anywhere."
"She's fine. Arianrhod just told me that she and Lilith found her. Relax," Calliope said.
"I was sure that the vampires carried her off like they did Lauren. I didn't even have a chance to get her into the TARDIS before there were suddenly vampires everywhere. I'm really going to have to do something to keep her safe. Maybe I should give her a Vortex Manipulator. I saw one just sitting there in the Black Archive," Katherine said.
"Yeah because giving her a way to travel through time and space with the push of a button won't get her into any trouble at all," Calliope said with a snicker.
"I just hate having her be a sitting duck here whenever trouble comes," Katherine said.
"Don't worry. We'll think of something to keep her safe in the future. Maybe . . . yeah, maybe Theta could give her a K-9 to watch over her. What do you think?" Calliope asked.
"A metal dog? No, Amanda's a cat person. I wanted to get her one but I was . . . I was afraid I'd get hungry," Katherine admitted with a shameful look on her face.
Calliope patted her on the back as she said, "Don't worry about it. Maybe Theta could make her a robot cat based on K-9? That way you couldn't hurt it even if you wanted to."
"Maybe," Katherine said hopefully.
"Oh, do you think that I could have one too? I'd love a robot cat," Rose said with a grin as she overheard this.
"Maybe you could build one yourself. You always were good at robotics at the Academy," Calliope said.
"How do you remember that? I barely remember that myself," Rose said surprised.
"I always kept up with your accomplishments, Rose. You stayed at my house so much in those days that I felt like you were my daughter too. You were already a member of the family even then as far as I was concerned," Calliope admitted.
Rose smiled at her with gratitude even as Dorothy suddenly grabbed her arm and said, "Mum, I didn't remember that Kallista was the previous Jenny. Why didn't I remember that? My memories about her have been blocked. What happened to me?"
"I don't know. I can't use my powers to tell. Offhand though, I'd say that it was Alex. Fenric has possessed him, Dorothy. That's why he was acting the way that he was," Rose said.
"What?! I'll rip him apart!" Dorothy said as she exploded in anger.
"Be my guest if you can find him. I have no idea where he is now, but I know that he sent this welcome wagon to us to keep us busy because I discovered him too early," Rose said.
"I'll find him, Mum, and when I do I'll demand to know what he did to me and why," Dorothy said in an outraged voice.
Finally Kallista, April, Donna, and Lee managed to reach Lauren just in time to see her singlehandedly fighting the last half dozen vampires that were still standing around her all by herself. Lauren was fighting mad and really letting the vampires have it. Donna laughed despite how worried that she still was because she didn't know who to feel sorrier for: Lauren or the vampires.
The remaining vampires started running away from her now in fear as Lauren shouted, "That's right! That's what you get when you mess around with me, Fang Boys! Try it again and I'll send you into the stratosphere!"
Then Lauren saw her parents standing there watching her and said nervously, "W-what?"
"You didn't stutter when you were angry," Donna said with a grin.
"N-no, I didn't. When I get really mad it g-goes away. P-people tell me that I act like you when I get angry," Lauren said.
"I can't imagine why," Donna said as she wrapped her arms around Lauren and held her tightly while she finally relaxed now that she knew that she was safe.
"Captain Tyler! Ma'am, the base has been cleared. The last vampires are being killed even as we speak," Osgood said as she saluted her nervously.
Rose sighed as she said, "It's Rose, Osgood. Just Rose, okay?"
"Sorry. I just thought that I'd come and tell you that. Also I thought that you might want to know what Malcolm found out. He said that there are some strange energy readings coming from Transylvania and rapidly surrounding the entire planet. He has no idea what they are, but it can't be a coincidence, can it? I mean first vampires attack us, and then something strange is suddenly happening in Transylvania?" Osgood said.
"No. No, it's not. Fenric was trying to keep us distracted so that we wouldn't know about it until it was too late. Donna, we have to go there right now. I hope that the Doctor is already on it. Thanks, Osgood," Rose said as she rushed towards Donna's TARDIS quickly followed by the Bad Wolves.
Osgood smiled as she said to herself, "Glad to help, Rose. I know Rose Tyler on a first name basis! Yes!"
The Wolves soon arrived at the exact coordinates that Osgood had given to Rose and found themselves smack dab in the middle of Castle Dracula. Rose smiled as she noticed that the Doctor's TARDIS was already there.
"Well, we're at the King of the Vampires' main hangout and Spaceman's already beat us here. Why am I not surprised by either of those two things?" Donna asked with a smirk.
"So why here of all places?" Katherine asked with a shiver as she felt uncomfortable just being there.
"Obviously the technology that UNIT detected around here belonged to the Great Vampires, and Dracula had it hidden here all along in secret. Fenric must have found it or someone working for him did anyway," Rose said.
"Why would Fenric mess around with my head for though? I still don't understand that," Dorothy said in frustration.
"He blocked your memories of Kallista because he wanted to make sure that you didn't wake her up so that she wouldn't help end the vampire attack too early. The vampire attack was to distract everyone from what he was really doing. Fenric is trying to give humanity an incredibly horrible and very permanent makeover. This is much worse than when our Master made everyone into him. Much, much worse. Everyone's about to get a healthy new set of teeth if you know what I mean," the Doctor said as he came out of the TARDIS.
"Vampires? He's going to turn everyone on Earth into vampires?!" Donna asked in horror as she had some horrible flashbacks to when she almost became one.
"Well, not everyone on Earth will be turned just the humans. Fenric is using the technology of the Great Vampires to create a mutagenic effect all over the planet that will change the entire human race into vampires. Anyone who isn't human won't be affected by it though. At least they won't be yet anyway," the Doctor said.
"Thanks for making me feel so much better, Doctor," Donna said with a groan.
"We need to find whatever equipment that he's using and shut it down before it's too late," Rose said.
"I think it's already taking effect. I already feel strange," Amanda said as she started to touch her two front teeth.
"They're becoming sharpened!" Katherine said in horror.
"No offense, Mum, but I really don't want to become a vampire," Amanda said in a scared voice.
The Doctor scanned the castle with his sonic as he said, "If we shut it down soon, you won't. There's still time to stop the effect before it becomes permanent. The machinery is in this area."
He pointed to a specific area of the right corner of the castle, and Rose nodded as she teleported herself, the Doctor, and the Wolves inside of that area. Kallista and April soon followed them as well, and Rosanna and Fenric looked at them in shock as they all suddenly popped into existence right next to them.
"How did you get here so quickly? The vampires should have kept you busy for at least another hour," Rosanna asked in disbelief.
"They had some help. You failed, Uncle Koschei. Thanks to Andromeda, I finally remembered who I was again just in time," Kallista said as she confronted Fenric.
"It doesn't matter. You won't be able to stop the process now. This technology is from the Dawn of Time itself. It took me months to master it. You'll never figure it out in enough time to shut it down now. Don't even think about destroying it either. It gets its energy by tapping into the molten core of the planet. If you destroy it, the resulting energy overload will blow the Earth apart. Face it. I've won this time," Rosanna said smugly.
"Maybe you would have if I wasn't here. Luckily, I've studied the technology of the Great Vampires before," Calliope said as she raced to the machines behind Rosanna.
"Stop her!" Rosanna shouted.
Kallista however was more than enough to keep Fenric busy as she started bombarding him with one massive energy blast after another. Fenric was still so weak after what Clara had done to him that it was all that he could do to keep his force field up against first Kallista and then April's attacks against him. He was definitely not going to be any help to Rosanna.
Rosanna tried in vain to keep Calliope away from the machines, but she was immediately stopped by a single gesture from Tori. At first she didn't even realize why she was suddenly getting weaker and weaker, and then she realized to her horror exactly what was happening to her. She was being dried out! The water that she needed to survive was being evaporated from within her!
"Please don't," Rosanna said to Tori as she collapsed to the ground.
Tori then turned the intense heat that she had been directing at Rosanna through her hands off and said, "I'm sorry. I couldn't let you wipe out humanity though."
"I was just trying to save my people," Rosanna said in a weak voice.
"So was I," Tori said as she looked at her friends.
With no one left to help him, the weakened Fenric now collapsed under the combined assault of his two nieces. He too now joined Rosanna on the ground in a barely conscious state as Calliope started immediately deactivating the ancient machinery left behind by Dracula.
Soon Calliope grinned in triumph as she finished shutting the machines off and saved humanity from a horrible fate. Amanda began to smile as she could feel her teeth returning to normal, and her mother hugged her in gratitude.
"This was one time that I definitely didn't want you following in my footsteps, sweetheart," Katherine said.
"Where did you learn how to turn those machines off so quickly anyway, Mother? They didn't exactly teach Great Vampire Tech at the Academy," the Doctor asked Calliope curiously.
I learned it from . . ." Calliope said and then said the rest of her sentence in a low voice.
"What? What did you say?" Rose asked with a laugh knowing full well what it had been.
"I said I studied their technology by talking to Lily about it. I asked her to teach me all about it because I was curious. There. Are you happy?" Calliope said with an embarrassed look on her face but also a small smile.
"Yep," Rose said.
"You're evil sometimes, do you know that?" the Doctor said as he shook his head at her.
"I just got tired of all of her bashing of my mum even if it was just harmless joking around," Rose said.
"I hear you. Maybe now you'll finally shut her up about it," Donna said.
"Traitor," Calliope said but it was obvious from her smile that she was only joking.
"It's over, Fenric. Now it's time for you to leave Alex alone and give him back to Dorothy," Rose said as she approached the still weakened Fenric who couldn't move to stop her.
"No!" Fenric shouted in frustration as Rose reached her glowing hand inside of Alex's body and yanked him out of it.
"Oh, yes. Good bye, Fenric. I've had more than enough of you, and I'm going to make sure that my Koschei never becomes anything like you. The last thing that we need is two of you around," Rose said.
Then she did something that she had never attempted before as she tried to open up a portal to the universe before her own. She knew that the future Jenny had once done it in order to bring April to their universe so she figured that she must have learned how to do it somewhere. She took a gamble and hoped that it was from her as she poured everything that she had into opening the way back into the far distant past.
Rose screamed in pain as the portal finally opened. She knew that it was already threatening to close once more just as quickly as she had opened it because the entire present universe was protesting its very existence. She used every bit of power that she possessed to keep it open just long enough to shove Fenric inside of it. As soon as he was back in that world, the portal closed itself and Rose immediately collapsed in near exhaustion afterwards.
"Dorothy, what's been happening?" Alex asked in a very tired voice as Dorothy helped him up.
"I'll explain later. Right now, I'm just so glad to have you back. If you ever go away again though, I'll blow you up so hard that they'll be finding pieces of you in Blackpool," Dorothy said in an emotional voice as she kissed him for the first time in weeks.
"Where was it that I went?" Alex asked in confusion.
"Later. More kissing now. Explanations later," Dorothy said as she kissed him again.
"Sounds good to me," Alex said as he eagerly kissed her back.
"Are you alright? Did you just do what I think you did?" the Doctor asked in amazement.
"I'll be fine, Doctor. I hope. Yes, I did just rip open a hole into the previous reality and stuck Fenric back in it. Yes, it did hurt. A lot!" Rose said through gritted teeth.
"Don't ever do that again!" the Doctor said as he helped her to her feet and rested her head on his shoulder after giving her a tender kiss.
"It was the only way I could think of finally getting rid of him. He's caused more than enough trouble lately," Rose said in a stronger voice.
"Are you going to be alright?" the Doctor asked in concern.
"Yeah. I really will be fine. I'm already feeling better," Rose as she gave him a warm smile.
"I'm glad to hear it, Flower Girl. Now what do we do with Rosanna?" Donna asked.
"I'd say let UNIT decide what to do with her. We're going to have enough problems worrying about the next threat that's just reared its ugly head," Rose said.
"What? Oh, no. Not now. I swear I'll never get to have a moment with Lee to myself!" Donna said in anguish.
"An old enemy of ours has come back to annoy us again, Donna. I'm not going to tell you any more than that right now because you already have enough to worry about, but I will once you get back from spending some time with Lee," Rose said.
"Shouldn't we get on that right now?" Donna asked.
"Naw, it'll wait. I don't even know where he is or how to find him anyway so you might as well go enjoy yourself, Donna. I just wanted you to be on the watch out for an attack," Rose said.
"Well, I guess it'll be alright then. I know I already felt like punching someone for not getting to spend a romantic evening with Lee in I don't know when, and I probably will if I don't get to do it soon," Donna admitted.
"Why do you think I'm encouraging you to do it now while you still can? I don't want you punching me, Red," Rose said with a grin.
"Oi! No calling me Red," Donna said.
"Okay, Whine Lady," Rose said.
"You're pushing it, Petal Girl. If I didn't love you so much, I'd already be laying you out flat on the floor right now," Donna said with a grin.
"Aw, I love you too, Donna," Rose said with an evil smile.
"Rose, quit while you're ahead," the Doctor warned in a scared voice.
Donna laughed and then surprised the Doctor by giving Rose an affectionate hug.
"Oi! You'd never let me get away with all of that!" the Doctor protested.
"There's a reason for that, Doctor. I like her better than you," Donna said as she turned away with a smug smile on her face and took Lee's hand.
"Well, I guess I can't blame you for that," the Doctor said with a smile as he gave Rose a tender kiss.
"Come on, Lee. We're finally going to have a romantic evening alone together before Rose changes her mind or this new enemy whoever it is decides to show up and wreck our fun. Are you still going to be here when we get back, Lauren?" Donna asked hopefully.
"S-sure, I'll be h-here. H-have fun, you two," Lauren said smiling sweetly at her parents.
She knew that this was going to be a very important night for them, and she definitely wanted to stick around and make sure that everything went like it should. She had a vested interest in it after all.
As Donna and Lee went off to enjoy their special night in Donna's TARDIS, Kallista and April were now saying their good byes to the others.
"Do you have to go? I only just met you," Rose said to Kallista in a sad voice.
Kallista smiled at her and hugged her as she said, "I'll be back to see you again sometime. I promise. I have to go see my original mother first though. She doesn't even know that I'm still alive. At least I don't think she does. Then again knowing her maybe she already foresaw it. I also want to help April find her mother. I hate seeing her so upset and depressed without her. I'm sure that we'll find her soon though."
Rose nodded as she said, "I certainly hope so. If I find her first, I'll be sure to let you know. You'll hear a telepathic call from me to come right away."
As it turned out, that was exactly what did happen not long afterwards as April finally found her mother thanks to Rose who had found her first entirely by accident.*
After Kallista and April left, Calliope took a few more minutes to completely sabotage the Great Vampires' machines so that they could never be used again, and then the Bad Wolves finally returned back to UNIT HQ in Lauren's TARDIS while Rose went back in the Doctor's. Dorothy meanwhile teleported herself and Alex back home as they continued to make up for lost time.
Michelle of course had a very important date to get back to so she used a mirror in Lauren's TARDIS to return back to Mark. To say that he was overjoyed when she returned was an understatement. It turned out that Donna and Lee weren't the only ones to have a romantic evening that night.
As soon as the Wolves came back home, they received a pleasant surprise waiting for them there.
"Hello, everybody! I'm back!" Martha said with a huge grin on her face.
"Martha!" Ileana screamed as she rushed forward and hugged Martha tightly.
"I see that things have gone just like normal while I've been away," Martha joked as she surveyed the massive damage that the vampires had just done to the base.
"That wasn't our fault. We got invaded by vampires sent by Fenric. We didn't even know that they were coming," Ileana protested.
"Like I said, things have been completely normal," Martha said laughing.
"We've all missed you so much, Martha," Amanda said as she hugged her next.
"Really? Is that why everyone's disappeared? Where is everybody?" Martha asked.
"They're all having some time off to recover from the last mess that we got into," Calliope explained.
"Good. They deserve it," Martha said.
"So does this mean that Rose is leaving us?" Ileana asked.
"No, she's staying. I'm still not fully back just yet. I'll just be here part-time while I get used to being here again. Until I come back full-time, you'll just have to deal with both of us," Martha said.
"You won't hear me complaining. We may need Rose yet," Ileana said.
"Why? What's coming our way next?" Martha asked with concern.
Ileana already knew without Rose having to tell her. She had sensed him earlier so she whispered it to Martha while still keeping it secret from the others. It was Rose's place to tell them not hers after all.
"Oh, that's just wonderful. He would pick now to come back at the exact same moment as I do. That's just my luck," Martha said with a sigh.
"There's never any downtime in this business, Martha. You know that," Ileana said with a grin.
"I think I figured it out, yeah," Martha said as she began to smile despite herself.
Nearby the same malevolent figure as before watched them with glee and thought to himself that they had better enjoy themselves now while they still could. He would be back in full force soon enough to bring down their final curtain call when they least expected it.

Next: Martha's back just in time to see the Wolves get involved in yet another strange new adventure as they investigate reported sightings of Yetis in the middle of a quiet country village. Could it be the real thing or is the original Great Intelligence up to his old tricks again? Maybe the current Great Intelligence, Victoria Waterfield, can help the Wolves solve the mystery before it's too late. There will also be more hints about the mysterious villain just waiting to attack and what he's up to as well.
