After the opening match with Naruto as the victor, he waved his hand to the crowd who were rooting and cheering for him.

Up in the Kage box, Ei turned to Hiruzen, "Hokage-dono. Did you have any idea that one of your own shinobi was the reincarnated Avatar?"

Hiruzen answered, "As a matter of fact, yes."

"For how long?" Oonoki inquired.

"Since he was very young. It was dangerous to keep him in the village at the time, so I sent him to learn how to control the four elements. As you can see he's learned to master them quite well."

"Indeed," Mei nodded, "But who would've ever thought the new Avatar would turn out to be someone of the ninja land?"

"The world works in mysterious ways, Mizukage-dono." Hiruzen answered.

When Neji was taken to be treated, Naruto whipped out his airbending staff converting it to glider mode and flew up to the box stand where all the other competitors were.

Most of them greeted him with words of admiration and congratulations. Even some of the foreign shinobi were impressed by his match.

"Naruto, you were awesome out there!" Sakura cheered.

"Thanks, Sakura."

Shikamaru spoke, "If you and I end up needing to fight, I'm gonna call forfeit."

"Well, where's the fun in that, Shikamaru?" Naruto chuckled.

Kurotsuchi spoke, "Not bad out there, for a Konoha rookie."

"That was just a warm up." Naruto replied.

Genma announced, "Will Sakura Haruno and Hinata Hyuga come down for match two?"

The girls looked at each other knowing it was their time. Naruto spoke to the two, "Good luck to both of you. Fight hard and make us proud."

"Got it." Sakura nodded.

"We'll do our best." Hinata agreed.

So the two kunoichi proceeded downward before reaching the arena, where the spectators calmed themselves so they could watch the next fight.

"Match 2 is between Sakura Haruno and Hinata Hyuga. Are you ready?" Hinata and Sakura got into stances.

"Ready, Hinata?" Sakura inquired.

"More than ever." she answered.

"Begin!" Genma called.

Hinata and Sakura charged and went at it using hand to hand combat. As Hinata fought, she was impressed to see Sakura's moves.

'Sakura was never like this back at the academy. This might really be a challenge.' Hinata thought to herself before gaining some distance.

"Byakugan!" she activated her eyes.

Sakura seeing this, knew to keep her distance, "All right, Hinata. Let's see how you match up against this." Sakura stomped the ground causing a chunk of earth to rise up. She thrust her arm forward sending the earth chunk at Hinata.

The Hyuga girl quickly jumped to the side avoiding the attack. Hinata got into another stance and ran at Sakura.

The pink haired girl continued earthbending more chunks of ground at Hinata, but she kept dodging.

"Ok, hurling it at you won't be enough." Sakura stomped on the ground trying to catch Hinata by the feet.

Hinata seeing this started jumping from one spot to another before Sakura raised some of the earth up at Hinata's foot making her trip.

"Nice try, Hinata. But the ground is my weapon." Sakura warned her.

Hinata got up with a scowl, "Weapon or not, I won't back down." she went at Sakura again, as the two engaged.

The crowd was wowed by Hinata's quick reflexes as well as Sakura's use of earthbending. Hiashi and Hinata's sister Hanabi watched as well feeling proud.

"Hinata is better than she's ever been."

"I never doubted her." Hanabi smiled.

Naruto smiled as he watched with the others, and thought, 'Sakura, your practices with Master Bolin have really paid off. Hinata, show your family you are worthy to be the next head of the family.'

Bolin watched with the others smiling to himself on Sakura's performance, while Neji who recovered was watching from a safe distance as Hinata fought Sakura.

'Hinata. Perhaps I was wrong about you. About everything.' he thought, while feeling guilty.

Sakura then earthbended more boulders at Hinata. The Hyuga girl stood her ground, "It's time," she concentrated, "Protective Eight Trigrams Sixty-Four Palms!" she emitted chakra from her palms and moved her arms in sweeping pattern movements. The chakra both protected her and cut the boulders into pebbles.

"Whoa." Sakura gasped.

Hinata smiled, as she cut the last boulder, "Ok, Sakura, now you're mine!" she ran at Sakura and used the gentle fist art on Sakura's chakra network.

Sakura wasn't fast enough to dodge or block and took most of the hits. She finally jumped back and tried to earthbend but nothing happened, "I can't bend?"

"I blocked your chakra network which is much like chi blocking. You won't be able to bend for the rest of the match."

Sakura replied, "You my have blocked my bending, but I'm not helpless yet." the fought once again fought head on with Sakura throwing all she had at Hinata.

Hinata however using the gentle fist blocked more of Sakura's chakra and delivered a pounding blow. Sakura fell to the ground looking defeated.

Genma called the match, "The winner of match two is Hinata Hyuga!"

Once again the crowd roared with applause at the victor of the match. Hiashi smiled with pride at his daughter's performance along with Hanabi.

Bolin watched as medics were coming for Sakura, 'You have nothing to be ashamed about, Sakura. You put on an excellent performance. And in the end proved to be a fine Earthbender.' he said in his thoughts.

As Sakura was being put on the stretcher, Hinata approached, "Sakura, I want you to know I feel bad for doing that to you."

"It's ok, Hinata," Sakura smiled, "I feel the same way for hurling all those earth chunks at you."

"For what it's worth I'm glad you were my opponent." Hinata smiled.

"Thanks. You were too." the shinobi took Sakura away, while Hinata went up to the stands.

She was met by her friends who congratulated her, "You did well, Hinata." Shino said.

"She sure did. You and Sakura blew my mind." Naruto added.

"Thanks, you guys. I really appreciate this." she smiled.

Naruto looked and knew it was Sasuke and Gaara's match next, but there was no sign of his teammate. Genma announced, "The third match between Gaara and Sasuke Uchiha will be postponed until further notice. For now we will carry on with the next match between Kankuro and Shino Aburame. Will the competitors please come down?"

Kankuro looked nervous before speaking, "I forfeit the match." the other competitors minus Gaara and Temari flinched.

"Due to Kankuro's forfeit, Shino Aburam wins by default and will move onto the finals. With this we shall begin match five between Shikamaru Nara and Temari!"

Temari smirked and proceeded downward. Shikamaru was reluctant before following. Once on the ground, Genma began the match. Everyone watched as Shikamaru used his wits and strategy to get around Temari's wind jutsu. Various spectators were impressed along with the old Team Avatar.

To everyone's shock Shikamaru had called resignation right what he had Temari where he wanted her. Before Genma could call another match, Kakahsi and Sasuke appeared via teleportation jutsu.

"And you are?" Genma inquired.

"Sasuke Uchiha."

"Sorry about the hold up. Hope Sasuke's not out." Kakashi said sheepishly.

"Well, we had to postpone his match twice, but it's all good."

Sasuke spoke up, "By the way. The first two opening matches had my teammates Naruto Uzumaki and Sakura Haruno. How did they do?" Kakashi looked curious as well.

Genma smiled, "Well, Naruto won his match. Unfortunately, Sakura didn't."

"I see." Sasuke replied feeling sorry for her.

"But don't worry. She put up one hell of a fight." Genma assured him.

"Good." he looked up at the balcony seeing Naruto who smiled at him.

Genma announced, "The match between Gaara and Sasuke Uchiha will now take place."

Ei spoke to the Kage, "So the second to last remaining Uchiha graces us."

"Against your youngest son, Rasa. This should make for some match. You must be proud of him." Mei told the Kazekage.

He remained silent for a moment before answered, "Indeed." Hiruzen glanced in his direction wondering when he was preparing to strike.

Gaara teleported down through his sand, while Kakashi went to join the crowd of spectators.

Gaara spoke, "I've waited for this moment. I hope you're prepared to die."

Sasuke answered, "Don't bet on it."

"Begin!" Genma called, as the two fought.

Naruto watched as Sasuke fought against Gaara's sand using Taijutsu like Lee only faster, "Sasuke's moving faster than ever. Just like Lee was when he first fought Gaara. He's even able to get past Gaara's ultimate defense. Could Sasuke actually beat a Jinchuriki?"

Gaara after taking a few hits or brushing some off encased himself in a sand sphere. Sasuke spoke, "Ok, time to put this to the test." he formed three hand signs and started generating lightning into his palm.

"Whoa." Naruto gasped.

"What is that?" Mitsuki asked the girls who looked just as confused.

Sasuke ran at the sphere and thrust the jutsu at it, "Chidori!" his arm pierced through the dome taking Kankuro, Temari, and their leader Baki by surprise.

At first things were silent, until Gaara screamed from inside the dome, "MY BLOOD!" Everyone was freaked out, until a cloaked stranger jumped up and spread feathers all over the stadium.

One by one the crowd of people were falling into a sleep, while the shinobi were using the release technique to cancel the genjutsu affect. Naruto made sure to use it on himself as well as the other competitors.

"Everyone all right?" Naruto asked.

"I'm fine." Hinata answered.

"So am I." Choujuro added.

"What's going on here?" Kurotsuchi asked.

"The answer's simple," Shino answered, "We're under attack."

Rinzu looked around, "Hey, where are the other two Suna shinobi?"

Naruto and the others saw Kankuro and Temari were gone, "Where'd they go?" Samui wondered.

Hinata looked down at the arena seeing two more missing shinobi, "Gaara and Sasuke are gone too."

"What?" Naruto gasped as he looked and saw she was right.

Kakashi and Guy arrived, "Everyone, by order of the Kages you must defend the village, that includes you guys." Kakashi ordered Samui, Rinzu, Kurotsuchi, and Choujuro.

The four having no time to argue nodded, as Naruto spoke, "I need to help my comrades."

"After that I want you to go find Sasuke." Kakashi ordered.

Naruto nodded, and the groups split up to fight. The Avatar summoned a clone that went to awaken Naomi, Ming, and Mitsuki, while he went to wake up the adults.

Once they awoke, he told them, "The village is under attack, can you guys help?"

"Leave it to us." Jinora replied.

"Let's show these youngsters how we fought in our day." Meelo said, as the benders and Asami joined the fight.

Over by the clone, he relayed the same information to the girls, "We'll stop them." Naomi said.

"Let's get ready, girls." Ming said, as the three stood ready.

"I gotta hurry. Sasuke may need my help." Naruto said, as he used his airbending glider to fly off.

The girls and older benders joined the fight against the Sound and Sand shinobi. Ming used waterbending to freeze the legs of some Suna shinobi, Naomi used her firebending on four Oto shinobi, and Mitsuki using her plantbending made roots emerge and ensnare her enemies.

Suddenly appearing outside the stadium was a giant three headed snake that was tearing the place up. Naomi spoke, "We'll need some help." she pulled out a whistle and blew into it.

From Naruto's place, Soreth was sleeping on the roof until a whistling sound rang into his ear making him wake up. He got up and saw the big snake in the distance. Seeing this meant trouble, he growled and flew off to the battle.

Back at the stadium, the giant snake was ready to make it's way into the stadium, much to the shinobi's worry. Suddenly two of the heads was shot at with blasts of fire. The snake looked and saw Soreth and Spitfire fly in.

"Spitfire!" Naomi smiled seeing she made it with her mate.

"Soreth!" Ming cheered.

The two dragons flew around the three headed snake spitting fireballs at its heads diverting its attention. The snake tried going after the two but they kept flying around avoiding the three hungry mouths.

As the adult benders fought off the Oto shinobi, they noticed the two dragons dodging the snake heads.

"They won't be able to dodge forever." Asami feared.

"What else can fight a thing that big?" Bolin asked.

Suddenly emerging from out of nowhere was Matatabi and Gyuki. Gyuki called in a familiar rapping voice, "Time to float like a butterfly, and stink like a killer bee!" the eight tails restrained the three headed snake with its tentacles.

Matatabi spoke, "I got a clear shot, just hold it still!" she powered up her fire and scortched the beast until it poofed away.

Omoi, Samui, and Karui who were fighting off enemy shinobi saw this and were relieved, "Bee-sensei and Yugito-senpai!" Omoi cheered.

"Always taking care of business." Karui smirked.

The two tailed beasts shrunk down and became Bee and Yugito again, who spoke to the three girls.

"Where's Naruto?" Yugito asked.

"He went off after Sasuke and Gaara." Ming explained.

Yugito and Bee looked worried, as the woman spoke to her fellow Jinchuriki, "Bee, we have to hurry."

"Right." the two took off.

Meanwhile, Naruto had flown around the sky of the village before seeing a battle going on in the forest, "There!" he flew off into the direction.

When Naruto arrived, he saw Sasuke leaning against a tree looking beaten up, "Sasuke!"

Sasuke groaned before noticing him, "Naruto. Be careful."

Naruto looked ahead and saw Kankuro, Temari, and Gaara who looked like a miniature sand monster, "Whoa." Naruto gasped.

'Naruto, Gaara is slowly entering Shukaku's form. If you don't stop him before he goes full form we're in trouble.' Kurama spoke.

"Fight me, Naruto Uzumaki!" Gaara demanded.

"You asked for it." Naruto used lavabending on the ground.

Temari and Kankuro jumped away from the molten lava, while Gaara jumped above and flung shuriken made of sand at Naruto.

Naruto lavabended a wall up to block the incoming sand projectiles, "This is crazy." he gasped as he saw Gaara started harnessing more sand and pretty soon stood a giant raccoon dog.

Kankuro and Temari were in shock, as the puppet ninja spoke, "Temari, we have to go."

"No duh!" she replied, as they went to take cover.

The giant creature looked down at Naruto as Gaara emerged from the head, "Watch as I unleash Shukaku's full strength!" he formed a hand sign and closed his eyes.

'I got a bad feeling about this.' Naruto thought.

Suddenly the monster spoke with a loud and crazy voice, "Yes! I'm finally free to have some fun!" he noticed Naruto, "I guess I'll start with you!" he reached down to grab Naruto, only to be hit with firebending, "Ouch! You'll pay for that!" Shukaku started creating a sandstorm around Naruto blinding him, until he was getting encased in a sand sphere.

Naruto struggled to break free, but wasn't able to. He struggled and struggled fearing this was going to be the end for him. Until his eyes shot open and were glowing white.

Naruto gasped as he saw himself standing on a bright astral plane, "What happened? What is this place?" he looked and saw someone approaching him.

The figure spoke in a beautiful female voice, "An old friend once told me 'when we hit our lowest point, we are open to the greatest change."

Naruto squinted his eyes before opening them wide, "Wait a minute. I know you."

"You should, I was your past life after all." walking into the light was a tall and beautiful woman with a lovely physique, dark skin, dark hair in a ponytail, eyes that shined like sapphires. And was dressed in fancy water tribe clothing.

Naruto's shocked expression hadn't changed as he spoke one word to the woman, "Korra!"

The woman being Korra the previous Avatar smiled sweetly, "Hello, Naruto."

(And there you go. The matches resumed but took a bad turn, especially for Naruto. But now he has made contact with his last life. Can she help him in stopping Shukaku and turning the tides of this invasion? Tune in next time.)
