CHAPTER 64
I do not own Doctor Who or the Lion King and I am making no profit off of this.

IT'S NOT THE SNOWMAN THAT'S ABOMINABLE THIS TIME
After she finished her call to Donna, Kallista had teleported with Patricia straight into the local hotel room that she had checked into at Thunder's Edge before anyone could stop her. Once she was there, she tried her best to comfort the woman who had been turned into a Yeti until the Wolves arrived.
Finally she couldn't stand seeing the mournful look on Patricia's face anymore so she said, "I can try to return you back to normal again if you want me to. I'm not sure if it'll work or not though. I feel like I have to warn you that . . . Well, it might just kill you if I do it wrong, and I'm a little bit rusty at this so I just might. What do you want me to do?"
After Kallista placed her hands on each side of the woman's head to hear her answer, Patricia's thoughts were quiet for a very long moment. Kallista could tell that she was weighing it over in her mind. Finally Patricia responded with a mental voice that sounded more resigned than hopeful.
Do it. Patricia said telepathically.
"Are you sure?" Kallista asked.
Yes. I don't want to live like this for a moment longer so that far outweighs the risks. It's just horrible having to be this way. I couldn't even talk to anyone until I met you. Just do it before I change my mind. Patricia responded.
Kallista nodded as she said, "If this doesn't work, I just want you to know that I'm sorry."
Patricia nodded and gave her a hopeful look as Kallista began to glow with power. Donna's TARDIS arrived just as Kallista gestured at Patricia and started to attempt to change her back to normal.
Donna and the others quietly left the TARDIS and stood there in silence as they watched the Yeti standing before them slowly start to change. They were filled with awe as she looked more and more human by the moment while Kallista glowed brighter and brighter.
Patricia's features slowly reshaped themselves from a face similar to but not exactly like an ape's to the unmistakable features of a human being, and the hair covering her body began to get thinner and thinner until it vanished completely. Her body also changed as it went from nearly seven feet tall and muscular to around five feet and lithe and graceful looking. In order to preserve her modesty, Kallista had even used her power to create a dress for her to wear while all of this was going on.
The ancient and yet somehow still eternally young Elder Goddess finally sighed in relief as Patricia revealed herself to be a young blonde woman in her mid 20's who looked at Kallista with an enormous smile of gratitude on her face.
"Thank you! Thank you so much!" Patricia said as she hugged Kallista.
Then she immediately fell unconscious as she collapsed in her benefactor's arms.
"What happened?" Donna said in concern as she finally spoke for the first time since she had arrived.
Kallista's eyes briefly glowed while she looked at Patricia and then she said, "She's going to be alright. It was just too much for her body to take all at once. She'll be alright after she sleeps for a while."
As Kallista laid the sleeping woman down on her bed, Donna asked, "Did she say anything about what happened to her? Who did this to her?"
"She said that she was grabbed from behind and kidnapped off of the street near her house when she was coming home late from a party. She never saw who grabbed her. All she knew was that she was injected with something, and it immediately put her to sleep. She woke up later to find herself looking like Bigfoot and having no control over her mind whatsoever. She said she could see herself doing things but couldn't do anything about it. It was just as if someone else was calling all of the shots, and she was their puppet. She has no idea where she was then only that it was a completely dark, and she couldn't see a thing. Suddenly she found herself fighting me and unable to stop herself or even call out to me for help. When I attacked her though, the pain that resulted from that apparently allowed her to regain control over her mind once again," Kallista said.
Donna sighed as she said, "So basically we still know nothing then since all of the other Yetis were teleported away by our mystery bad guy."
Kallista smiled as she said, "That's not necessarily so. You see there are many perks to being from a previous universe and having your powers heavily boosted in the next one where the natural laws governing it have all been changed, and one of them is the ability to trace the destination of any kind of teleportation done anywhere near me. I know exactly where the Yetis went. I just wanted to help Patricia first before I tried going there. Plus I really wanted to wait for you to show up first. Now that we're all here though, it's showtime."
Kallista then snapped her fingers and she and the Wolves suddenly found themselves in the middle of what was unmistakably the corridors of a ship. Donna couldn't help but notice that it looked a lot like a TARDIS, and it bothered her that it could be a renegade Time Lord behind all of this.
Who though and why?
"Thanks for warning us first. What if you had teleported us right into the middle of an attack?" Donna said with a frown.
Kallista looked crestfallen and immediately face palmed as she said, "You're right. You're absolutely right. I'm so sorry. I was just so excited that I wasn't thinking straight. I am so rusty at this that it's unbelievable!"
"Rusty or just nervous?" Rose asked with a knowing smile because she knew Jenny, which included this Jenny who was just like her own, so well.
"Both," Kallista admitted with a nervous laugh.
"Don't be so worried. It's just us," Rose said reassuringly as she gave her a quick hug.
Kallista smiled and visibly relaxed as Donna grinned and said, "You're a Jenny alright. One hug from your Mum, even an alternate Mum, automatically makes everything better for you."
Kallista blushed from embarrassment but all of the attention focused on her was mercifully cut short in the next moment as several Yetis appeared out of nowhere. They all started to attack them with savage fury, and the others soon found themselves with the unenviable task of having to try to restrain the former human beings without seriously hurting them.
That was when Donna saw Lilith starting to close her eyes and concentrate while the others continued to fight. Donna knew that it wasn't that the Carrionite was afraid to fight but that she was up to something. She couldn't wait to see what as she kept constantly impressing her with the level of her power since she had decided to quit holding back. Martha had even confided in her that she was glad that Lilith didn't act like that the first time that she had met her or they might never have survived for the Doctor to reunite with Donna again.
Donna was then broken out of her thoughts as Lilith immediately opened her eyes and said the names of every Yeti there while she rapidly put them all to sleep. In less than a minute, all of their former enemies were lying on the ground in a deep sleep!
"Way to go, Witch Girl!" Donna said with a huge grin on her face.
Lilith grinned proudly as she said, "Thanks. I was just trying to take them down quickly so that no one got hurt. I've never tried to see the names of so many people at once like that before but thankfully it worked. My powers are definitely getting a workout traveling with all of you."
Donna realized with a bit of surprise that Lilith just like Kallista was trying to impress her and gain her approval. When had her approval become so important to such powerful people and why? She could still remember when she was just a nobody from Chiswick who no one looked up to or even noticed. She was so glad that those days were apparently far behind her now.
"You did a good job, Lilith," Donna said as she looked at her approvingly in order to make her feel appreciated.
That seemed to do the trick as Lilith beamed from ear to ear. It was then that Donna caught Calliope's eye and saw her smiling at her as if she were in on a private joke that Donna still had no clue about. Suddenly it all connected at last as Donna figured out why Lilith was acting so oddly around her all of a sudden and she mouthed the word 'No' in shock which made Calliope giggle a little.
Lilith was used to having two mothers and was looking to replace both of them. Therefore now that she had Calliope as one mother, she had adopted Donna as the second one! Now that she thought of it, Kallista was probably doing the same thing.
She wasn't sure how to feel about that. She liked Lilith and thought highly of her, but she didn't think of her as a daughter. Sure she cared about her, but she cared about all of her Wolves. She would have to do some thinking about how to handle that later on because she didn't want to accidently hurt her.
Donna's thoughts were cut short very quickly as gas started to come out of the ceiling and most of them started to choke from it almost immediately. Dorothy quickly put her force field around them to block the gas out, but it had already weakened many of them even in such a short amount of time.
"Do you like it? It's my own special brew of an anesthetic that's guaranteed to work on just about every species. Even with such a quick exposure, most of you will soon be rendered either unconscious or extremely tired and weary in the next few moments. I injected a concentrated version of it into my human victims so that I could capture them quickly without any fuss in case you're wondering," A woman's voice said in an extremely happy tone over the ship's intercom.
She was right. Donna could already feel herself having to fight just to stay awake, and she could tell that most of the others were too. Kallista, Victoria, and Tori were the only ones who had been unaffected. Even Rose and Dorothy suddenly looked like they hadn't slept in days.
"Who are you and why are you doing this?" Donna asked in a tired voice.
"Well, I had to run my experiments in reverse evolution somewhere in order to test them out. What better place to do it at than on a no-name backwater world like the Earth? No offense," The woman said with a chuckle that showed that she did indeed mean to offend her.
"You never did answer her first question though, did you? Who are you?" Martha said as she tried very hard to suppress a yawn and proved to be ultimately unsuccessful.
"Are you sure that you're really interested, Martha Jones? You certainly don't sound like it from that huge yawn that you just gave off. Am I boring you that much?" the woman asked with an enormous laugh.
"It seems that you have the advantage on us, yeah? You obviously know us and yet we still don't know you yet. What's with the shy act? Are you too afraid to come out and face us?" Rose asked as she slapped herself in the face in order to keep herself awake.
"Why should I be afraid of someone who can barely stay conscious long enough to trash talk to me? I'm not afraid of any of you, Arkytior. Not even your two new friends, Jenny Come Lately and The Not So Great Intelligence, over there.
Rose's eyes opened wide now at the use of her old name as she said, "Do I know you?"
"Oh, yes, and I know all of you. I've done my research ahead of time on everyone and anyone who might possibly show up to interrupt my experiments. Of course you and I go back much farther than that, Arkytior Lupinesglen. You still don't recognize me do you?" the woman asked in an almost hurt voice.
"No, I . . ." Rose started to say and then she suddenly gasped and stopped in mid-sentence.
"What is it, Flower Girl? Do you know her?" Donna asked in a voice that sounded like she was just barely hanging onto consciousness.
Rose didn't answer her but addressed the woman currently threatening them instead as she simply asked, "Arachne?"
"Oh, so you do remember! Kudos for you, Arkytior! These days I like to go by the name that I choose at the Academy though, The Weaver," The Weaver said.
"Yeah, I remember why you chose that name too, and it wasn't because you liked to sew, mate," Rose said in an angry voice.
The Weaver laughed as she said, "Oh, well, look at who grew themselves a spine in this regeneration. The old Arkytior would never have been so sarcastic and confrontational when I knew her at the Academy. Then again I've heard that you've changed quite a bit since those days, Rose Tyler. You've gone and become just like one of the apes on us, haven't you? You see what they really are deep down inside now though, don't you? Still want to be like them, dearie?"
"It would be better than being like you any day," Rose said defiantly.
"Care to tell those of us who haven't known you since the apparently not so good old days on Gallifrey exactly who this is, Petal Girl?" Donna asked as she began to lose her patience.
"Right. Sorry. This is Arachne or The Weaver. She chose that name because she likes to plot and plan against people in secret and trap them in her web just like a spider. She's quite proud of that actually. She was constantly trying to undermine other people at the Academy in order to make herself look better. I heard after she graduated that she became a renegade and started to engineer a couple of coups of several planetary governments as a challenge to herself just to see if she could. She's nothing but trouble, Donna, and wickedly clever. I was always so afraid that she'd find out about my powers and try to use that against me somehow," Rose said.
"Like I cared! Your constant obsession and worry over your little secret helped to keep you out of my way so why would I ever try to expose you for? No, I liked things just the way that they were. Now though you've become way too goody goody and interfering for my tastes just like your precious and oh so handsome Doctor. Maybe I'll give him another shot after all of this is over with because I'm afraid that I'm going to have to kill you and all of your friends now. I can't allow my plans to be interrupted. Not now that they've proven so successful. I finally engineered a new mutagenic agent that can physically devolve human beings back into their primitive ancestors, Arkytior. I haven't been able to completely remove their memories and intelligence just yet so I have to use mind control to keep them in line, but I'm working on fixing that. I only need a few more specimens to perfect the process, and then there will be complete and total mental and physical devolution. Once I accomplish that . . ." The Weaver said and then stopped in mid-sentence with an evil smile on her face.
Rose's eyes widened as she said, "You're going to use it on the Time Lords, aren't you? Why though?"
"Why do you think? As the last Time Lord standing, all of Time will be mine to do whatever I choose with. I will be a Time Lord Victorious!" The Weaver shouted with maniacal glee.
Rose rolled her eyes as she said, "Yeah, that's already been done, mate."
"Honestly, are all Time Lords mental cases? Why are so many of them rotten, manipulative scumbags?" Dorothy said with a sigh.
"Oi!" Rose said as she, Calliope, and Emmy glared at Dorothy.
"I didn't mean you lot obviously especially not you, Mum," Dorothy said with a sheepish look on her face.
"Aw, and I had such respect for you until now. I like your attitude, human. Maybe not all of you are such worthless apes after all," The Weaver said with a thoughtful look on her face.
"Now there's a backhanded compliment if I ever heard one," Ileana said.
"I wonder if my mutagene will affect vampires. What will you devolve into I wonder? I'm going to have such fun finding out I think," The Weaver said.
"Oh, no. Please don't tell me that she's going to do what I think that she's going to do," Ileana said.
"Oh, yeah. Is that really so surprising to you, Lana? I saw that coming a mile back," Donna said.
Suddenly a mist started being pumped into the room that the Bad Wolves just knew contained the mutagene that The Weaver had created.
"Don't worry. I'll destroy it long before it reaches us," Rose said.
"Oh, I don't think so. My TARDIS is Vortex shielded, Ari. Oh, and the mutagene is specifically designed to eat through any force field so don't think that that's going to help the non-Vortex crowd to protect you either. I've also activated a teleportation damper so that you can't get out that way either. Thank you so much for providing me with exactly the perfect cross-planetary group of test subjects that I needed to test my mutagene out on! Now I get to see not only how it affects Time Lords but also Carrionites, Elder Gods, Vampires, and whatever the rest of you lot are. This is perfect!" The Weaver said with joy.
"Oh, that's just wonderful. You know when I woke up today the one thing that I definitely didn't say to myself was how great that it would be to suddenly find myself turned into bloody Sasquatch! Somebody better do something right now!" Donna said as she eyed the steadily approaching mist with a look of fear on her face.
"I know it's a bad time to ask but since it seems as if we might all be getting a permanent makeover in a minute it really needs to be brought up. Is it a bad time to collect on that bet now, Donna? Technically I did win since the Yetis were humans even if they were changed by Arachne," Rose joked as she tried to make light of the situation to help calm everyone down.
Donna's glare of anger at her in response made even the Bad Wolf afraid to say anything else.
Meanwhile as the Wolves faced eminent devolution and almost certain death afterwards once they were of no more use to The Weaver, Joan Redfern and John Smith arrived at UNIT HQ to invite them to their upcoming wedding now that they had finally set a date. Joan even wanted to ask Michelle if she would be her Maid of Honor since she was the one who had made all of this possible.
Both of them were disappointed to find that none of the Wolves were home. Or almost none of them anyway. The youngest but in some ways the bravest Wolf, Amanda, immediately opened the door to them and hugged Joan.
As Joan looked at her in surprise since they barely knew each other, Amanda said, "Sorry, I've just been so lonely. It's just me, Simba, and Mum here while the others have gone off to go Yeti hunting. I thought that maybe Michelle or Lauren would stay since they didn't go, but unfortunately Michelle's off on a date with Mark and Lauren made a quick trip back to the future saying that she had to go make sure of something whatever that means. Can't Michelle go out and suck face with Mark some other time? Mum and I are just bored stiff here with no one to talk to us. That's why I'm so glad that you two are here."
Joan smiled at her as she asked, "Simba?"
"Oh, that's right. Simba is the robot cat that Aunt Rose made for me. I named him after the Lion King. That's my new favorite movie. I love movies. To think that I never even used to know what they were. I missed out on a lot back in the 1890s," Amanda said as she continued to smile at the fact that she had someone else to talk to at last.
John grinned as he said, "I think that we should stay for a visit at least until the others return, don't you, dear?"
Joan nodded as she said, "Yes, I do. Maybe I can ask your mother for some suggestions on the wedding. There are still some things that I haven't decided just yet."
"Oh, you definitely don't want to ask me anything about weddings. I know absolutely nothing about them. I didn't even get to have one of my own thanks to . . . Well, you know what happened," Katherine said as she finally came to the door now.
"Yes, but it's still hard to believe that you're a vampire. You look nothing like one at least not based on the ones that I remember the Doctor running into. You're too nice and sweet," John said.
Katherine smiled as she said, "Not always."
"That's for sure," Amanda joked.
Katherine briefly glared at her and then kissed her forehead and smiled because she couldn't stay angry at her for long. Amanda knew it too but thankfully tried not to take too much advantage of that fact.
Suddenly Katherine felt as if someone were watching them, and she looked behind Joan and John to see a shadowy presence hiding in the far corner of the room that they were in. She knew exactly who it was and what they wanted. She wasn't about to give it to him either.
"Hurry! Come inside!" Katherine said in a worried voice as she easily yanked Joan and John inside with her incredible strength and shut the door behind them.
"What was that about?" John asked as he rubbed his newly bruised arm.
"I'm sorry. I had to act quickly. Someone was about to use the open door as a way to get inside because it's a break in the wards that Lana used to protect our section of UNIT HQ," Katherine said as she explained to them about the shadowy person who had been hounding them for weeks now.
"You mean that he's real?" Joan asked in shock.
"Oh, very real and he's out to destroy all of us. You'll have to be very careful when you leave here that he doesn't come after the two of you," Elizabeth warned.
"Here I thought that the wedding was the biggest thing that I had to worry about. Even though I'm not the Doctor, I'm still getting into just as much trouble as he does it seems," John said sadly.
"It must just be a part of who you are in any form to always find yourself in constant trouble no matter how hard you try not to be, John. I don't really mind it though because I know that you're not looking for it on purpose," Joan said as she gave him a tender kiss.
John smiled as he said, "Trouble just seems to find me instead of the other way around I'm afraid, Joan."
"It's alright, John. I've learned to accept that side of you a long time ago or I wouldn't still be here," Joan said as she took his hand in hers and held it.
"Should we get Michelle here? I really don't want to interrupt her date despite what I said earlier but I'm kind of scared," Amanda admitted to her mother.
"I'm already on it, Amanda. That is when I figure out how to use this thing," Katherine said as she stared at the cell phone that Donna left her in puzzlement.
"Don't look at me I'm afraid. The phones that I knew were closer to yours in terms of technology. I don't even try to use those things," Joan said.
"Give it to me. Luckily the Doctor knows all about them and how to use jiggery pokery on them. He never could figure out how to keep the bill down on them though when you made an intergalactic call," John said with a wicked grin.
John called Michelle and immediately told her about what had just happened even as the shadowy figure moved away from the door. He realized now that Katherine wasn't going to open it again anytime soon.
He still had a way around that however.
"Osgood, come to me," the shadowy figure commanded.
Osgood could hear his mental commands from halfway across the base and shuddered in fear as she said, "Doctor, please save me! Please!"
She started to run off to meet with her tormenter when a man wearing a sweater covered with question marks suddenly bumped into her and almost knocked her to the ground. He immediately caught her before she fell and looked at her apologetically.
"Oh, I'm so sorry about that, miss. I was here looking for a group called the Bad Wolves, and I'm afraid that I simply wasn't looking where I was going. This place is so confusing with all of its little twists and turns. It's nothing at all like the UNIT bases that I've been to before," the man said in a Scottish accent.
"I can point you right to them, sir," Osgood said eagerly as she was ready to look for any excuse not to go to her new master right away.
She was so eager to stay away from him that she didn't even bother to ask the man his name or what he was there for. She also didn't remember who he was despite the nagging familiarity that she felt about him the moment that she saw him.
The Seventh Doctor was now led straight to the Bad Wolves' headquarters by Osgood and right past the very surprised shadowy figure who had enslaved her. The shadow man glared at the Doctor as he looked right at him and doffed his hat to him with a devilish smile on his face.
The Doctor wasn't afraid of the man in the slightest. He had met much worse evils than him before and had defeated them all.
As Osgood came to the door of the Wolves' headquarters and knocked on it, the Doctor said, "Why don't you come inside too since I don't really know the Wolves yet? You can help to introduce me to them."
Osgood looked at him in surprise because from the way that he was looking at her it was almost as if he knew that she desperately wanted an excuse not to leave at that moment. She quickly seized upon this golden opportunity and said, "Alright."
As the door opened, the Doctor quickly knocked Osgood out with a finger to the forehead and carried her inside as he said, "Sorry, my dear. I can't have the enemy using you against us though can I?"
"What?" Katherine asked in surprise as she saw all of this in bewilderment.
"Hello, I'm the Doctor and I've come to help you with a little problem that you've been having lately. This young lady here is an unwitting part of that problem I'm afraid. I could tell that from the entranced look on her face when I saw her outside just now. Someone was about to use her as a means to gain entrance here. I'm sure that she isn't working for him on purpose because she was much too eager to find an excuse not to go to him when he called her. Can you please let me inside now before your enemy takes this opportunity to enter?" the Doctor said as he looked behind him briefly to see the shadowy man tailing him.
Katherine nodded and immediately let them in while she quickly shut the door.
The shadowy figure cursed as he saw this and silently wondered how this past version of the Doctor had even known what was going on and why he had come here. What was going on here? How could his plans already go so wrong so quickly?
That was when he saw Michelle come running towards him and immediately merged back into the shadows once more. He wasn't ready to battle her alone and without a plan just yet. She was far too powerful. He was no slouch himself but he wasn't willing to take any chances now that Time's Champion had so suddenly appeared without warning like he had.
As he watched Michelle go inside the Wolves' headquarters, he decided that now that Osgood had seemingly been compromised that plans had to be changed. He would now have to go with Plan B.
As the shadow being slipped away, Lauren watched him go with a smile. She had lied about going to the future. She had actually gone to the past instead to find what she needed to protect the Wolves' base while the main group of them were gone. She had known that going to that particular Doctor and asking him to help had been a good idea. He had always been the most effective at stopping schemers and long range plotters like their current enemy in their tracks.
Then she began to frown as she worried about her mother. She knew exactly what was going on with her right now, and it was taking every ounce of her willpower not to interfere. She knew that she couldn't do that though or with her foreknowledge of the future she might make things even worse. She just hoped that she wasn't about to be turned into a Yeti at any moment.
"C - C - Come on, Mum. You can do it. Show her why no one messes around with Donna Noble," Lauren said hopefully even as she used her Vortex Manipulator to leave the base.
Next: Is Lauren right? Can Donna and the Wolves escape a horrible fate or are they about to find out just how poor Patricia felt? Can they stop The Weaver before it's too late? This may just be where some of our newest arrivals finally have their chance to shine at last. Plus more with the Seventh Doctor as he and the remaining Wolves question Osgood. Will she be able to tell them anything useful with the shadow man's control being so strong over her? What is his Plan B anyway? Also Joan asks Michelle to be her Maid of Honor and does some more wedding planning. Even in troubled times, a little bit of wedding planning must go ever onward after all.
