Hey so I know I left you all with a cliff hanger so I'm gonna get on 14. I'l;l have the BSAA like Chris and them up in NYC either in this chapter or the next. We'll just see as we go. Anyway, hope you enjoy it.

Just so you know, since RE Darkside Cronicles tweaked with the events of RE 2 and CV I decided to do the same with my own twist. Basically in my version the way things went in CV X still went the same way but with the RE 2 events being done the DC way with Claire having met Ada and them partnering with Leon instead of splitting up. I hope this makes sense. Basically I liked DC's version better than RE 2 but I liked Code Veronica more than DC's Game Of Oblivion. It was more sick and twisted if Alexia was still in love with her brother after death than if she just killed him they didn't need to add that detail.

Speaking of the last twist in the last chapter with Piers, what did you think?

Ada

They began to head for the Empire State Building. John and David had regrouped with them so they were all headed back in the same direction. Ada had to collect some new weapons as she had dropped them all except her crossbow in the firefight. She now had A Mac-11 similar to what she had used in China and Tall Oaks. She had picked it up from a dead body. A red haired Caucasian male had been the one carrying it. He couldn't have been more than 20 years old. He had tattoos indicating he was a gang member. He wore a dark red T shirt under a Chicago Bulls jersey. He had on sagging blank jeans.

The kid has been killed from a fire ax to the back. The kid had three magazines on him. Fifty round magazines. He had thirty five left in the weapon itself which was good enough for her. She felt sorry for him, whoever he was but there was nothing she could do for him now.

As they walked John and Andrew picked off a few zombies in the street, their Rifles set to semi automatic. "So this Alex guy is the one, huh? he guy behind all of this? Set things in motion here and Puerto Rico?" Asked John as he put a round in a carrier's head. Leon shrugged. "I guess so. If he's the head of the Family that makes him our number one target all though I'm not sure how he could have set things i motion down there too."

Ada told him, "Remember, Alexia. Like Steve said, She's likely working with Alex. It wouldn't be the craziest thing I've seen. I just don't know why Neo Umbrella and The Family would choose to start cooperating now."

Leon speculated. "My guess is, it's for the same reason we do. Mutual enemies. That's why the DSO works with the BSAA. I wouldn't look at it as anything deeper than that. I mean that's got to be the reason why,"

Ada thought to herself, As much as I admire you, Leon that's why I'm always one step ahead of you..you don't look deep enough.

Then he surprised her. "Then again...maybe it's a bit more complicated. Maybe all this time we focused on Umbrella, we were doing exactly what they wanted. That's how The Family hid in plain sight. They're the ones with the power. They ultimately funded Umbrella too if they ever really had real sway on the world stage."

Ada smiled to herself. Atta boy, Leon. Just then, automatic rounds sounded off. Ada took cover behind a GMC pickup truck on the left side and Leon joined her. John and David took the right side. David managed to get one view and said, "I see at least five shooters. The one that just opened fire on us was up on a window cleaning scaffold."

Leon looked around the side ready to fire his pistol. John strafed around the side. "Jesus!" The African American SOA agent proclaimed. "Are those zombies with weapons? They're soldiers. I was used to getting shot at when we first got to town by some of those things but that guy on the scaffold was much closer to hitting us."

David nodded. "John, they're probably not zombies. They're J'avo, yeah?" Leon nodded in agreement. "If they had been zombies they would have been sloppy. Back in Tall Oaks they did shoot me a couple of times but I was lucky enough that it was just graze wounds and they didn't get me in any vital areas. Most of them weren't even holding the Rifle right. They just flung it around like a toy firing every direction."

Leon then added, "So if these things are J'avo like what I faced against in China, how did Neo Umbrella or The Family manage to infect that many people? There's too many people in New York City to individually administer the drug one by one."

Ada agreed. "There's something else we're not seeing. A variable we're missing. Alex must have found a way to get the virus into the city in a way that would drug people without them knowing about it."

John returned fire and hit one of the soldiers which was a J'avo. He hit it in the chest. The armor protected it but John fired more rounds and hit the soldier in face knocking his helmet off as one round hit the man's nasal bridge causing blood to spray all over. The man fell dead. John fired six rounds at another man getting him in the head as well but the man's face exploded and it began to mutate into a B.O.W. Glava-Begunats.

Ada hated those damn things. He fired his H&K as it came after him. It jabbed at him in the frenzy he had been accustomed to before. It punctured him three times in the left side near the rib cage and would have done it to him until he died if Ada didn't start firing her SMG into the thing's massive mutated frame. She emptied twenty rounds into what would have been it's heads.

From his and her rounds combined the thing died. John and David however were encountering another one and were emptying round after round into it. David had his M-16 variant on fully auto while John was on semi. David took some damage also but John finished it with an incendiary grenade. "Eat this you ugly bastard!"

David hissed at the wound that had leaked through his bullet proof vest as he had suffered an external injury in the small of his back on the left side as well on his stomach. "Goddamn it...why couldn't those fucking cunts have just stuck to zombies? They were enough of a challenge on their own!"

John finished the last of the ones on the ground looking down his scope taking each one down with head shots. Ada had just a couple more explosive bolts. She decided she would need to improvise on explosives to make more explosive bolts as well as regular bolts which she had made from her own resources as a scavenger. She fired one of the two and hit the soldier firing from the high ground. He started to let out a cry of surprise and anger and the bolt exploded and soon it was raining J'avo guts.

John used a green herb on his partners wound. "Come on, brother. We need to keep moving. If Empire State building is where the answers are to all of this, I want to get there. They've brought in the military and the president will probably bring more. If they start doing air strikes here in Manhattan like in Puerto Rico, they might destroy the building without ever knowing the answer was just below the surface."

Leon agreed as he used a first aid spray, one he had salvaged on himself. Ada did not need any of it but she knew they would also need to find more supplies. "Yeah and if they destroy the building, they might just make the outbreak worse. If Umbrella has an underground lab...or the Family or whoever like that guy was saying, they probably have more samples of the C virus."

Ada added, "It wouldn't be a problem if its just the syringes but they also have the C virus in gas form and that would just make it spread. If they have as much of the virus as I think they would, even if it is under the building, if that skyscraper gets destroyed, it would be like 9/11 all over again except instead of ash you get the C virus."

She looked at Leon with a solemn expression. "There's a good chance that would wipe out the entire north east," Leon looked as though that information had been a blow to the stomach. "I've got to find a way to contact Hunnigan again. Family or not, we are the DSO and if the US military or the BSAA or whoever else are going to authorize a military strike on the Big Apple, we should at least get wind of it!"

They kept going and Ada said, "You're more than welcome to try, but I don't think they're going to let you get wind of it. Or if they do, it'd be pretty difficult to stop them from launching an air strike once it's been authorized. The governor authorized a state of emergency a few days ago when this all started breaking out and we don't even know if he's still alive or not."

He looked down as they walked. "There's no guarantee they will just yet. There'd be too many civilian casualties. All the more reason we need to get to the Empire State, pronto!" They headed there in a faster more brisk pace into a jog. David chimed in, "I hope we're not all too late. God knows the world is already bad enough without this shite. HQ has lost a lot of good soldiers iust trying to clean up that mess in Lanshiang. Ada, I'm glad that wasn't you who did it but God knows somebody needed to pay for it."

Ada replied, "She did. She died during it all. I know what she did was bad but I didn't do any of it. As a matter of fact I tried to help out some civilians and buy them some time but I don't know how much bought them."

Ada had wondered about that ever since. All those Chinese civilians on that roof top back there. She wondered if they had found a way to fend for themselves after the fact. She doubted most of them had made it but buried deep within her inner self she hoped they had. A lot of the infected had been BSAA agents and hopefully they could have taken weapons from any of the carcasses of an SOU agent.

She doubted it even as she hoped for it. The harsh reality was, most of the world was far from prepared to deal with this. If former president Beneford had no chance what chance did most people have? They headed down 42nd street and Ada knew that if they had been using a car it would have bee a two minute drive. Actually it was quicker than that since there was no longer any traffic.

Leon found some more ammunition for his weapon. Both the H&K plus the Glock. As they came down the intersection, Leon spotted something. "Oh shit, not this again! I had enough of him in Raccoon City!" He drew his automatic weapon, aiming at the B.O.W. in the brown overcoat. Ada saw him and began firing too. She was actually surprised Leon had seen it before she had.

John took a moment to ready the shotgun mounted under his Assault Rifle as David covered with automatic rounds. The rounds from Ada, Leon and David riddled the pale tyrant with rounds but did not seem to be stopping it at all. It came charging at Leon and hit him in the stomach. Leon grunted, falling back and Ada let it have a face full of rounds from the Mac-11, about ten in total from her last burst.

It hit Ada too knocking her back. It swung again and hit her and she cried out, pain shooting through her. It hit her in the side and forced her up against a totaled Hummer. Leon let off twelve rounds at the thing's back. It still came at her swinging trying to bring the meaty fist down on her. She dodged just barely. Instead it broke the window of the vehicle. It swung a few more times in a fury, smashing and denting the side of it more. The side of her head bled from hitting the vehicle. David reloaded and began firing again, concentrating his fire at its skull. It turned around and held its forearm up blocking the rounds and it came toward him.

John fired two shots from his M26 into the things back as he was flanking him. Leon helped her up and asked, "Are you okay?" She said, "I'm fine let's just deal with this thing so we can do our jobs,." Wong unloaded the last of her magazine at it, backing up to give herself space. The thing was being bombarded with rounds. It was closest to John and it grabbed the Rifle and rammed into him. John was big but the T-103 was much bigger in size. He hit the side of a red Dodge hard and he closed his eyes, wincing in pain and coughed up blood. It had broken one of his ribs.

It then ran at David and hit him with a blow. Ada had seen this B.O.W. prototype in action before and had faced it but this was new. It hadn't been able to run so much in this form and actually it only really had in its most mutated form. She reloaded backing away from the thing.

It had it's attention on Agent Trapp. The British SOU member spat blood and two teeth out but held his own, unleashing another thirty rounds into its chest. It was starting to rock back and forth indicating they had finally tired it out but it grabbed David and hit him hard in the abdomen.

It then grabbed him by the throat. It lifted him in the air. Ada fired eleven rounds aiming for the center of the back all the way up to the top of the back of the head hoping to cripple it, sever its spinal cord but so far was having no luck.

It squeezed the man's throat. Though John and David were not people Ada gave a shit about, she knew Leon did and that made it important. Plus he was one of the Original Eleven, same as Agent Andrews and if he died the BSAA would consider that a major loss.

She delivered a kick to the back, even knowing it wouldn't do hardly anything. It dropped the agent and the older man fell to the ground, gasping for air. John fired three shots into its back, leaving big holes in the back of it. Leon also let him have it with eighteen more rounds as John backed up, needing to reload the mounted shotgun. Finally the thing began to rock back and forth again.

It collapsed at their feet. Ada stared down at it and said, "They've changed, these things. The Family had to have updated them somehow but I thought they were done making them. They were never this fast..."

Leon agreed saying, "Never for you and me and even then he was a pain in the ass. You, me and Claire had a hard time with this guy. He hits harder than I like to remember," John held his side, taking a green herb in tablet form and groaned as he washed it down with a small water bottle he fished from his bag. It wouldn't fix the broken bones right away but these things did help them set faster than they would have on their own.

"Let's get a move on," The man said. "I don't have the slightest clue what's going on. Maybe I was always better when I had a team and was Special Ops Unit rather than SOA," He had a pained look in his eyes, haunted almost. "Cause I don't know too much about the Family and what I know about Neo Umbrella is about as much as DSO does when we're supposed to know more. All I care about is getting to the bottom of this and finding some answers so we can finish this."

David reloaded his weapon and wiped the blood from his mouth saying, "You're not giving up on me, old boy, are you? Thought you said dying an old man in a nursing home was for beta males? Said you'd never get tired of this life..."

As they walked the rest of the way down the last couple blocks John answered, "Yeah, that might be true, but I'm getting tired, Dave. My body's giving out on me. I'm getting too old for this shit. Christ, if both Kennedy and Redfield look like shit at thirty nine I can't imagine how I look at my age. My body aches and I just want this to stop. I'm not giving up just yet, brother. Maybe an old man death is pitiful but I'm already breaking down prematurely so either I gotta give this life up when this mission is over, or if I'm going to die in combat that needs to happen soon."

David lit a cigarette. "Christ, you Yanks are real pissy and cynical, aren't ya? I guess it can't be helped but you get this dying shit out of your head. It's not a real morale booster. Growing old beats dying out here or becoming one of those god awful fucking monsters."

John sneered at his best friend and partner as David took a drag and said, "Yeah, you were saying about growing old, Camel Joe?" David shrugged. "At least I'm enjoying it. This might be the last time I get a smoke. We may live or we may die but we have a job to do."

As they got to 5th street, Leon asked, "What happened that had you guys switch from SOU to SOA?" John snapped, "Don't go there, man!" David blew smoke. "We value your friendship, Kennedy but that story is not a story for right now. We make it out of this, I'll tell it to ya over a couple of cold ones. On me. Sure, it's true, John worked better with a team than the reconnaissance that we had to but let's just say we had a bad experience. Similar to what Redfield went through."

They finally reached the Empire State building. There were a few zombies but they were stragglers cut off from their herd. David and John picked them off with ease. Ada staggeredd a bit and Leon grabbed her to make sure she didn't fall. "Are you okay, Ada?"

She insisted, "I'm fine. Let's just get inside,"

Leon took the chance to force her to a sitting position. Normally she would have fought him off but she had too much of a head ache. He shined his flashlight into her eyes. "Damn it...she's got a concussion. You're not all right, Ada. We have to get you help. Since that's not possible right away you need to be extra careful."

Ada sighed. "I've been shot and stabbed before. I never had a concussion before but I can handle it," Leon's blue eyes flashed with concern. "Ada, I know you're smarter than that. You could die. That's brain trauma. Let's get you inside. We need to get you to rest."

John nodded. "Yeah, that's some bad shit. Had a couple of those back in High School. You get enough of those from Football but wrestling on top of it? Yeah, you're in for it. You're going to have to rest, Ada but don't fall asleep whatever you do. This is going to take 7 to ten days to recover completely."

Leon checked her out looking in her ears. He ran a few tests with her eyes to check her. "It's a mild concussion. You're lucky but you can never be too careful. We need to get you inside," He helped her up. Ada wanted to resist him, not wanting to be vulnerable and have to rely on anybody but now she knew she needed to. He took her into the building. They went past the front lobby and up a couple floors. He carried her and they settled in an office. There was a room with a small sofa.

She lay down, resting her head in his lap. John and David looked at her with concern. "We can go and get her some Tylenol. We'll go on a run to find may not be on the best of terms with the BSAA and she might be a bit shifty but she hasn't ceased to be useful. Leon, you stay here and keep an eye on her, yeah? Me and Johnny here, will go and get her the right medicine to get her sorted out. Right, buddy?"

John grunted, wincing in pain from his ribs but he cracked his neck in both directions and then his knuckles. "I'm in. I said I was tired but I never said I was down and out. We'll get you those pills, just keep her awake and don't live her side, Leon. If we run into any of our brothers in arms we'll try and set them straight about Ada."

He then looked to both of them assuring, "Shouldn't take us longer than fifteen minutes. I know this town pretty well I know where they might still have some stuff we can use," Just then, John was contacted by somebody in his head set. "Sir? Yes, Agent Trapp here. We've escorted a couple of civilians to the Empire State Building. We've been led to believe this is the source of the virus. There's been an underground lab built by White Umbrella in the 1900's. Neo Umbrella has used it from time to time apparently and the Family is believed to have been in charge of the construction of it with full knowledge of the creation of B.O.W's."

Somebody was saying a lot of things in his ear. John spoke up too. "Sir, Agent Andrews here. We're going to investigate the base as soon as we finish assisting the civilians. We're going on a run now and as soon as we're back, we're going to breach the red zone."

John then heard something that seemed to anger him. "What?! This is bullshit sir. We're needed here.I'm telling you, this is where the source is! It's not the ALF and it isn't foreign enemies or even Neo Umbrella. Least not entirely Umbrella. Somebody had to fund them, right? Have enough power to even have members of the GPC in their pocket. There's other agents that can take care of that...sir this is the theoretical ground zero for the biohazard we have a very reliable source."

He listened a moment and said, "Sir, I can't say who. For this person's own protection. Not until we settle this."

John then angrily grunted and ripped his head set off. David attempted to reason with the man but somebody screamed at them. "Affirmative sir. We'll do as you say but after that, we're coming back here,"

David addressed Leon and Ada, "I'm sorry you two we may be out a bit longer than we thought. Maybe twenty five to thirty minutes. We're going to get Ada her medicine but HQ wants us to make a pit stop in Spanish Harlem. Echo Team is having some trouble and there's a situation there. A shootout and a hostage situation."

John growled, "No you know what, David? I'm done taking orders for right now,. I'm going to do what's right. I don't care if I get fired for it. I'd like to see them try though! I founded the BSAA they can't fire me. You go to East Harlem. I'm going to go and get these guys their medicine. I always followed orders and half the time it didn't get the results we needed."

David sighed. "All right. If you insist. I'll try and think up something."

They began to head out and John said, "I promise I'll come back for you!"

Ada rested in Leon's lap, her eyes closed. Leon whispered to her, "Hey. Don't fall asleep. Stay with me, Ada. I know you can beat this,"

Ada said, "I'm just resting my eyes," He was no less worried. "Yeah, that's the way it starts," Ada promised, her voice drowsy. "I'm not going anywhere, Leon. I'm awake I'm just resting my eyes. They're sore and heavy from all the gun smoke and powder in the air tonight."

He chuckled. "You and me both. But there's no time for me to rest and I'm not going to let you slip away, do you hear me? This is no time to be stubborn, Ada, please..."

She smiled softly opening her eyes just a bit as the light made her head hurt, "It's not what you think...I won't fall out because I know you won't let me. Maybe a little help now and then isn't so bad..."

Chris

The helicopter finally was in New York City airspace. He'd been here on vacation many times but never had seen the city look so ruined so destitute as it did right now. It had been two days since he'd been sent to the hospital. Really, it was much too soon to be up and about after having been shot, much less on a mission but there was no time to waste. The BSAA back in Puerto Rico had managed to finally put down all the B.O.W's or at least most of them in the areas surrounding Aldea Oceana. As far as San Juan, Echo Team was helping the Army put them down.

Besides, what was at stake right now was bigger than the lives of any one individual including himself. Sure, he could die today but if he did it would be worth it. If he died he would put another dent in Bio Terrorism. He had been given some new weapons yet again. He hated that about the BSAA. If weapons he had used before had served him well why should they have to get rid of them just to put them back into circulation?

It made no sense. Especially now that bio terrorism looked like it was more of a threat now than it had ever been when White Umbrella was concerned, he decided in his mind for the rest of his life, however long or short it might be, he would want an arsenal always in the same room he slept in.

Sheva looked down at the city through binoculars. There was a group of looters shooting it out with police officers. There were some zombies on the ground near the gunfight and not a single one was on their feet, they were crawling, some from broken legs or blown our knee caps, others from being blown in half by grenade launchers. "My God...things are really falling apart down there. I hope we can get it back under control."

The chopper pilot chuckled, "If we can't we'll have our boys from HQ piss a little bad news down on their heads. Bunch of idiots killing each other down there when there's zombies crawling up their asses."

Chris snapped at the guy and said, "You better hope you're wrong about that, Kyle. My sister's down there and if she doesn't make it out of here, neither will you. I'll throw you out of this helicopter and fly it myself,"

Jill squeezed his arm. "Calm down, it's not that serious, Chris."

The chopper ignored the threat. "I'm going to set you down on the roof of that Chinese restaurant on Mott street. You just contact HQ when you're ready for Evac."

Chris, Jill, Sheva and Josh rappelled down from the chopper and they went to the edge of the roof to do the same thing again down to the street level. Josh now had an AKM Russian Assault Rifle and a .44 Magnum Desert Eagle. Jill had a Glock 818 and an H&K G36. On top of that, she also had a Shotgun.

Sheva had an AK-74 like before but a new one from circulation and it was modified with a GP-25 grenade launcher. Plus a Beretta. She also had a Dragunuv Sniper Rifle. She had a lot to carry with that plus her gear in her bag but it was nothing she couldn't handle. Chris had a Walther P99 and an H&K MP5.

They came down and could still hear shots ringing where they had spotted a showdown between looters and rioters. A police officer yelled to the looters as he fired into the shop at the wounded men inside, "Come out of there with your hands up and your weapon on the ground! We have you surrounded! Enough have died!"

One looter, a male yelled, "Fuck you! That badge doesn't mean a goddamn thing anymore in this town you piece of shit cop!" He followed his words with several rounds from his handgun. Sheva looked frantic. "We should do something."

Josh didn't agree. "We are not here for that. The B.O.W's are our main concern and the true enemy is the Family and Neo Umbrella. Anything else is going to take too much time."

Chris agreed with Sheva. "As much as I want to agree with you, Josh, Sheva does have a point. It may not be our business but the police and citizens shouldn't be shooting it out with each other. Armed civilians should put their prejudices against officers aside for the greater good and officers should share the power since it's chaos out here."

Jill added, "Looting to survive at this point is trivial. Even as a former cop myself, I can see that. Sheva's right we should go help," Chris held up a hand. "Hold on. We may be the peacekeepers in a sense here but we still can't take sides on this. We haven't even decided if we're going over there. If we do, we should put it to a vote. Since both sides make sense, we should try and help both and get them to stick together."

Jill looked stressed and said, "Let's make it quick. If we're going to act we need to act fast. All in favor of helping?" She and Sheva raised heir hands. Josh said, "Opposed?" Chris and he raised their hands. Jill looked to her old partner. "Chris, what are you doing? You said you see both sides we should help them."

Chris explained, "Look, I see both sides of the coin but the fact is, this is a large city with a lot of people and not all have been infected. The faster we get this thing contained the faster we can prevent it from spreading to the rest of the country. Plus we have two ground agents there who said they've got an idea where the source of the C virus shipment is coming from. Remember John and David? We can't afford to waste time on this, Jill. It's possible that the Empire State Building is the source! Agent Andrews just radioed it in to HQ. They've also got Ada and Leon with them, wounded. Claire is somewhere out there too."

Jill fumed. "If we won't help people survive then what is the point in winning?!" She lowered her voice but then said, Chris, I admire you. I always have. But we're all somebody's daughter or brother or sister or son. Claire can hold her own. These people can't. We can't put our own needs above others. What would Claire think of that?"

Sheva pulled her arm. "Come on then. They've made their decision. It's up to the two of us then. Chris, Josh, we'll catch up with you later. Josh stepped forward saying, "I don't think that's a good idea. We should stick together. I..." Sheva cut him off. "We put it to a vote, Josh. No hard feelings but we are going to help them."

The two women disappeared into an alley going to the next street over. "Goddamn it...we have to go after them, Stone. Trigger happy undisciplined civilians or not they could still get killed!" Josh asked, "Because they are women? They can hold their own, Chris. They've faced worse than this. We all have."

Chris was restless. "You go if you have to. I'm at least going to see what's going on..."

He went the direction Sheva and Jill had. He came out and looked to his right. All there was were corpses of zombies, luckily having been put down already. To the left he saw them hustling up the street taking cover behind an SUV to stay clear of gunfire. Before long, they went even further. He headed up the street but he had lost them. They were out of sight. Shit!

He checked his PDA for their signal. He would have to follow them that way. He caught their signal and began to follow.

Chris headed up the street after them. Josh was behind him with his Desert Eagle readied. "I have you covered, friend."

There were about seven cops shooting it out with five civilians. There were three cops wounded while every armed civilian was wounded due to not having body armor. A Caucasian male with red hair and a beard came out of the shop firing an AKS. He hit a female cop, an African American woman with short hair in the head with five rounds. "We're just as much the law as you now!" He shouted.

He fired at a male officer, a Caucasian with blonde hair, a red face, and a tattoo of a shamrock on his left arm. The man was one of the wounded officers having taken fire in the left leg near his femur as well as the right side of his hip where the hip met the top of the leg. He had also taken a slug in the left shoulder through the chink in the armor. All the wounds from a female looter in the shop. The rounds from the AKS pierced his vest and just as the rounds had penetrated the armor, fresh blood oozed from the wounds.

As blood smeared the sides of his mouth and he fell to the ground he cried out, "What ...is my wife...supposed to do...?" The police officers unloaded on the already wounded gunmen. One officer, a Jamaican American male, carrying a shotgun, unloaded a blast into the man's chest while his partner, A white male of Albanian descent, fired seven rounds into his stomach.

The gunman's weapon discharged, going off as his body shook, also being shot by their Sergeant, a sturdy Italian American male with a military haircut. His weapon was an M4 Carbine which every patrol car now carried in the trunk. A woman of Asian American descent with her hair tied in a ponytail, dressed in Apple Bottom jeans and a maroon T shirt, carried an Uzi which she fired in a rage, "You son of a bitch! You killed Zachary!"

She hit the officer with the shotgun in the stomach but the vest protected him however the Sergeant took one round in the arm. "Fucking bitch!" He shouted as he fired, lining up the woman's kidneys with NATO rounds. "Malloy, you all right?" The officer with the shotgun yelled, "I'm fine! She just got the vest. We need to have that arm looked at!"

He fired another blast from the shotgun and his partner fired a shot into the woman's back as she fell in the street. As Jill and Sheva approached, the cops were forced back into cover as the looters in the shop had more Assault Rifles and were trying to mow the Sergeant down while at the same time, picking off the men with inferior weaponry. Malloy's partner took two rounds in the chest from a man on the ground who was covered in blood in the face, and all over his body. He'd been shot six times. "Jesus Christ!" Shouted the partner. "I thought we killed him already!"

A rookie officer, a Caucasian man with a blonde buzz cut, fired hitting the man in the side of the stomach but the man didn't go down. He had scooped up the woman's Uzi. He fired at the rookie forcing him away.

He got back to cover behind the squad car as the looters fired at him. Jill and Sheva were spotted by two of the looters. One of them, a Dominican man, fired at Jill. Jill took a few rounds from the M-16 but luckily the vest protected her from the worst of it and she was at a good enough distance to not take damage. She fired back with her G36, nailing the guy in the waist line with eleven rounds. He collapsed in the street slipping on his own blood.

One man, a guy with a leather jacket and a green swordfish haircut, who had an M14 fired at Sheva yelling, "They've got more cops? What the hell?!" Just then, one of the crippled zombies crawling they had spotted from the sky, sunk her teeth into Malloy's lower ankle on the front. The officer screamed, "Ahhhh! Eat this you freak!" He clubbed her in the head with the shotgun splitting her head open.

Jill got to cover behind the SUV again as did Sheva. The rookie cried out, "Who are those women? They don't look like cops to me!" Malloy, angry from being bitten was trying to patch up his leg from cover wrapping a handkerchief around it. "Like you'd know, Doyle? You just got transferred here from wussy state last week. The real cops are here."

Doyle, the rookie was a transfer from the L.A.P.D and was just twenty five. Their commanding officer yelled, "Who cares? They just wasted one of those punks!" Malloy's partner also added, "They're hot too."

With Malloy's partner, plus the rookie firing on the shop still, the remaining hostiles turned their attention away from Sheva and Jill. Sheva readied her Sniper Rifle getting a look at the man who had fired at her. The guy had reloaded and was trying to pick off the wounded cops. "Fucking pigs! This is about our survival!" Jill whispered to Sheva, "So much for trying to get both sides to stop fighting. The looters aren't leaving us much choice."

Sheva whispered back, "One of those men has been bitten. The fact that they didn't take care of him yet means they must not know. We have to deal with if they won't."

Sheva aimed the Sniper Rifle at the man with the punk rock haircut who had just gotten the drop on the Sergeant having hit him with the butt of his rifle. "Say good night, piggy!" Sheva fired, hitting the man in the forehead from fifty yards. The man's brains were blown out exploding out of the entrance wound, the exit wound plus the piece of his skull and head she took out with the shot. The wounded man with the gun who was still alive after seven shots, aimed at the two BSAA agents as they began to charge forward, Jill firing her H&K to cover them. She took out his knee caps.

The man collapsed and the rookie put a bullet in his left temple. The last two alive in the shop finally threw their weapons down. "We give! Howard, take your clothes off. We're running out of ammo...we can't keep this up." The other guy, Howard protested, "Are you crazy? It's freezing!"

The other reasoned, "If we come out naked with our hands up they'll see we aren't hiding a weapon and have no reason to shoot. The Black Panthers did the same thing!" Sure enough, the two wounded men came out slowly, their hands on their head. The fifth cop aside from the rookie, the Sergeant, Malloy and his partner, was a white guy with black hair and steel blue eyes, standing about six foot four.

As the rookie and Maloy's partner cuffed the two men, the officer shot one of them, a man with light brown hair and gray eyes, in the back of the head. "That's what happened to one of the panthers who tried that..." The last remaining guy, was a man with a shaved head and a goatee and he had tattoos all over his body. He looked like a biker.

"Please don't shoot!" This guy was Howard. The cop who had fired pressed the hot barrel to his cheek causing him to scream. "Why shouldn't we? You killed Smitty and Thompson," Jill peered over behind one of the squad cars. One man had half of his face blown off. He was Smitty. The other, Thompson, sat slumped against the side of the passenger door of a squad car in the back seat, his blood staining it, having taken twenty rounds in eyes, dead as a zombie after being put down.

Howard whimpered as he was forced to the ground, "It was self defense! We were looting for survival!"The cop growled kicking him, his boot catching him in the right rib cage. "Stealing a TV has nothing to do with survival!"The cop with seniority approached them. "That was some shooting. I owe you one. Who are you with? The Army?"

Jill shook her head. "The Bioterrorism Security Assessment Alliance. We're here to deal with these things," She beckoned to the zombies that lay dead. The Albanian cop reloaded putting in a fresh magazine. "We can handle these things just fine."

Jill looked at the bite wound on Malloy. "Clearly, you can't. I used to be a cop and one rule is you always cover your partner at all times,"The biker, Howard said, "Miss...I'm sorry...we shot at you...we thought you were cops...I swear!"

Sheva told him firmly, "You should be. We were trying to help you all. You shouldn't be fighting each other at a time like this. These creatures are taking over and you're shooting each other over televisions?" Malloy's partner was practically drooling. "I like you. Where you from? England? That's a nice accent."

Sheva ignored the remark. Howard was in tears. "I'm sorry...we were thinking the army or somebody...would clean this shit up..we're all broke...all of us. We just wanted TV's to sell. Money...for food...rent..."

The cop who had shot the other man said, "Howard...you're a fucking coward..." He uncuffed him but still kicked him to keep him down.

Howard growled despite his fears, "You're one to talk...you shot an unarmed man as he was surrendering! I should have gone down fighting!"The cop smirked then said, "Okay..."He fired a shot into Howard's back and the man cried out from pain and at his impending doom. Jill got between them demanding, "What the hell are you doing? He was unarmed and you had no reason to shoot him!"

The cop sneered, "Bullshit. He was reaching for my gun. Didn't you see it?" Malloy's partner said, "I saw it. Clear as day!" Jill didn't like what she was seeing. "I used to be a police officer. For the Raccoon City Police Department. We wouldn't have done what you just did. I know it's getting crazy out here but you can't abuse your authority like this."

The Sergeant, who according to his name tag was named A. Rossi, said, "Look, we're just trying to do our job, ma''am."

Sheva beckoned to Malloy. "he's been bitten we need to take care of that," Malloy looked at her and asked, "What are you talking about? It's just a bite," She told him, "Haven't you noticed what happens to everybody who was bitten by those creatures? You're going to turn into one of them unless you eat a bullet first."

Malloy looked at her with his eyes widened. "Are you joking me? One of those things bit my hand a couple hours ago. Shit hurts but I'll live,"

Sheva insisted, "No that means you're in even worse trouble. If we don't put you down now, you'll turn and attack your friends," The officer seemed desperate, "Wait a minute...don't I have any other options? Isn't there a cure for this shit? Whatever this is?"

Jill answered him, "There is but not in the immediate area. The only other option is we have to amputate above where the wound is. That's the best way we can still keep you alive," The man looked at his hand and his bitten leg. "No. That's not happening. I'm attached to my hands and feet."

Sheva asked him, "You're sure?" As she strapped her Sniper Rifle back around her. "Yeah I'm sure. No way. I'm taking the risk. If they got the cure you just tell me what way."

Sheva had her Beretta ready and as she pulled the slide back she said, "You might be willing to risk it but I'm not," She said and even as she said that, what she did next was a risk on its own. She fired a round into the man's face. He went down but all the other officers turned their guns on her. Jill aimed her G36 and said, "She did the right thing!"

Rossi growled. "Gunning down an officer of the law is not the right thing! I've got to take you in!" Jill kept her sights on him as he had the biggest gun and said, "You're not doing that. I won't let you."

The rookie said, "Let's just calm down. Miss, you're not going anywhere. First you saved us from those looters or at least you helped us but when you shot Malloy you became the same as they are. Drop your weapon. Both of you. At this close of range and being outnumbered, you don't have a chance. You want to act like looters you can meet the same fate as them."

Sheva told Jill, "It's okay. We won't have to worry for long," She dropped her weapons slowly putting the Sniper and Assault Weapon down and slowly setting the sidearm down too. She made two hand signs. A C and a J. Jill figured out she meant Chris and Josh. They would be there soon.

Rossi cuffed Sheva first and the rookie politely asked Jill to keep her hands on the hood of the car. Malloy's partner was angry. "We should shoot them both and get on with our day! Malloy's been my partner for five years!" Rossi calmed his man down saying, "You'll do no such thing, Andrei, just be quiet and keep calm."

The mean looking cop with cold eyes who had shot Howard said, "This is bullshit, Sarge. They shouldn't be shown any quarter. This is a war zone. They're hostiles to us."

Rossi growled, ignoring his subordinate. "You want to tell me just what the hell you were thinking gunning down one of my men?" Jill informed him, "Like I said, I was a member of the RCPD. I've seen this kind of thing before. These aren't just zombies. They're bio weapons. That's what the BSAA ddoes. We specialize in neutralizing threats like these. They're a result of bio terrorism."

Rossi demanded, "If you say you're with BSAA now what's this about you once being a cop? In Raccoon City of all places. Romero, aint that where the nuclear power plant exploded and blew the whole city up? How'd you get out?"

Jill hated doing this song and dance but it was necessary. "Just barely. It wasn't any accident. The same thing that is happening here happened back then all those years ago. The nuke plant was just a cover up. White Umbrella was behind it. They paid the media to say what they wanted them to. I'm only not a member of the Raccoon City Police because the city is gone now."

Romero, the hostile officer stepped up snarling, "Sounds like a fucking excuse to me. That all sounds like bullshit. Umbrella was just a pharmaceutical company. They weren't bio terrorists they just got closed down for malpractice,"

The rookie, Doyle, said, "Actually, that is a bit true, what she's saying. They did have some hand in some kind of terrorism but I thought it might have been because they founded 9/11 or something like that. So what is this going on again?"

Romero said, "Doyle, shut up. If I wanted to hear you talk, I'd shove my hands up your ass and work you like a puppet. Andrei, did you pat the bitch down for more weapons?"

The cop checked Sheva once more and found her combat knife. "Well well well! What were you planning on doing with this?" Sheva growled in frustration, "That is for the bio weapons, not you. Though I wish I had slit your throat or put a bullet in you. It should have been you instead of your partner."

The officer shoved her against the trunk of the police car and frisked her again, putting his hands on her butt and trailed up her back. "Get your hands off of me..." She hissed. Andrei smirked, "I might just be willing to let you off with a warning...if you make it worth my while...don't resist." Jill stood up ready to charge him but Romero grabbed her by the hair. "That's it, you too. Gimme your hand," He cuffed her left hand and jerked her hair back. It triggered in her, flashbacks of her living hell with Wesker. "Your other hand. Now!"

She flashed back to when Wesker had her against walls, over sofas as he thrust into her, his hands, as rough on her as this man was being. "No...!" She drove her free elbow into his stomach and punched him in the face. In a swift move she got behind him and removed her own knife and had it around his throat. Doyle and Rossi aimed at her ordering, "Let him go!"

Romero chuckled, "Come on, lady. Don't be stupid..." Jill grunted in anger and brought the blade across slicing his throat open. "No!" Shouted Rossi and he fired, hitting her in the shoulder with a round. She held her wound but readied herself to come after him. The mean spirited cop bled on the ground choking on his own blood. Andrei pressed the barrel of his weapon against Sheva's head. "Hot as she is, I'll blow her brains out. Don't make me do it. I'd much rather give you the carrot than the stick."

Doyle had managed to flank Jill and took Malloy's shotgun and rammed her from behind with it. He breathed hard saying, "I won't let them assault you but you have to surrender..."

He nudged Jill forward. "Please listen to me...i moved out here from Los Angeles because the police were too crooked for me. I thought it would be different here," While Jill was deciding whether or not to use her abilities to attack him too, Rossi had gotten a tazer which he fired sending jolts through her.

Even if she was a bit stronger than your average human, even Chris it was painful. She screamed. The other officers aside from Doyle did the dropped to her knees weakly as they kept shooting her. She felt drained. Sheva was attempting to pick the cuffs. Andrei put his face into Sheva's neck. "I'm gonna have some fun with you..."

Doyle rushed in to stop him but Rossi cold cocked him sending him on his ass, dazed. "Damn it, Doyle I'm tired of your California liberal act. These women are criminals and we're going to treat them as such."

Sheva head butted Andrei backwards and turned around to kick him. He went for his gun backing up with a bloody nose. Just then, a shot was fired and Sheva's cuffs were broken. She wasn't sure by who but she was glad.

She tackled him and wrestled the gun from his hands. They exchanged blows for it. Rossi forced Jill to her feet. "I guess I can see what Andrei was driving at. You smell like a girl with a lot of issues. I like that."

She tried to resist him but he just tazed her again. Just then, several rounds sounded off and he was hit in the left side about four inches to the left of his heart. He fell back wounded and five more hit him. It was Chris! He had fired his MP5. The gun went off as Sheva and Andrei struggled. Luckily he had taken the rounds in the stomach. She drop kicked him in the groin as well and he crumpled to one knee holding his groin and abdominal wounds.

Josh fired his Desert Eagle hitting the man once in the stomach. The man's wounds opened deeper as a fresh new one was torn. He collapsed face down and Josh put three more in his back. Chris helped Jill up and Josh asked Sheva, "Are you okay?" Rossi still tired to fire going for his sidearm but Chris fired seven rounds into his head, the rounds chipping away at the side of his left cheek.

Jill looked at Doyle who was getting up. She retrieved her firearm and shot him putting a single round between his eyes. Sheva asked, "Why did you do that? He didn't get frisky like Rossi and Andrei,"

Jill spat, "He still helped them," Her heart turning a bit stony. They began to head the way they were supposed to go Sheva and Jill both licking their wounds and Chris said, "That's why we can't afford to intervene,"

Claire

She fired shots from both guns dropping one after another. Three, four five, but she knew she would run out of ammunition soon. They got in closer and one of them bit her, an older man, on her shoulder. She cried out but forced him back pressing her pistol in her left hand to his lips. She fired and he went down. Though she was immune to the virus, something she, her brothers, and his friends who had survived Raccoon had been tested for, and therefore she could not be infected, she could still be killed if they got her completely against the wall and tore her apart like they had Robert Kendo all those years ago.

She could still bleed out the same as any other human. They kept coming, all attracted by the alarm system. A female zombie in her late teens grabbed Claire attempting to bite her. Claire fought her back struggling with her but she could see a zombie fire man coming toward her with his ax ready for bloodshed. Gotta get free...come on! Get off me!

Steve appeared at her side breaking the zombie teens neck in a simple twist and he caught the blade of the fire man in his bare hands. He kicked the man's left knee cap out and hit him with the handle spitting his head open. He then reversed the weapon and buried the blade into the man's cerebellum. He then swung the blade, hacking into three more before tossing the bloodied weapon aside, after decapitating three carriers.

He began using his own brute strength without any weapons on them. Claire stepped back a moment, trying to ignore the pain and watched him at work. He was like a modern day gladiator. With a few violent bursts of speed the last of them were collapsing to the ground most of them dismembered.

Steve took Claire's hand saying, "It's not safe here. Come on," He then noticed how she winced. "You're hurt..."

He picked her up sweeping her off her feet and said, "Come on...hey does it hurt to breathe?" She nodded, weakly. He sped off, making her dizzy. When they stopped and her vision was no longer spinning, they were on a roof top. A New York City cliche. He laid her down gently and withdrew a knife. "Claire, this is going to seem very strange but you need to drink this."

He cut himself around the wrist. She looked up at him with suspicious. "What? There's no way..." He pleaded with her, "Claire, you have a broken rib. On a good day we'd be able to get you to a doctor but right now that isn't an option. You have to trust me."

Claire looked up at him still alarmed. "What if I become infected?" He told her, "Wesker had files on you and your brother. The two of you are immune to zombie bites so that wouldn't turn you. I can't say for sure if you two would still be normal if you got a direct shot of the C virus like the J'avo though. Still, this works, Claire, trust me. It won't infect you. I know it's gross but you have to."

She was nervous, even a bit scared but she gently took his hand and began to suck the blood from the wound. She lapped up the iron tasting substance, trying to not think about it. After about half a minute he stopped her. Just then, she felt a sharp pain for about fifteen seconds. She cried out, rolling on her side and he gave her his other hand to squeeze. After it stopped he pulled her up to a sitting position. "How do you feel? Take a deep breath for me, Claire."

She did as he said and to her surprise she felt no pain. "Steve...you did it..." He grinned. "I told you to trust me."

She chuckled saying, "Well it was a weird thing to do. I'm not a vampire," He kissed her, even despite the remnants of a crimson residue on her luscious lips. She was laying and he was leaning over her. He laid next to her and told her, "You should rest for a while. How long has it been since you've slept?" She thought about it hard. "I haven't since I got into town. That was almost a day and a half ago."

It was starting to be dawn. "Well you should sleep here for a bit if you can. We're safe. I got us up here without even using the stairs. Just a long fast run and a jump. Can you sleep even in daylight?"

Claire admitted, "Normally in day time, no and especially not outside. I mean I know we're safe from anything that's dangerous but I still would be uncomfortable except now I'm so exhausted I just don't care."

He let her rest her head on his chest. She snuggled up to him, giggling. "You're warm. Will you sleep too?" He nodded with an assuring smile, reflecting her own but not nearly as beautiful. He kissed her on the forehead, and she closed her eyes, listening to his powerful heart beat. A soft smile across her lips. He brushed a strand of her reddish brown hair from her face and admired her.

She softly began to drift off to sleep even as the morning sun began to rise. Normally, she would be kept up by it but due to her own fatigue, it did not bother her. In fact the warmth of its rays on her bare skin was a comfort to her. Her last thought before she drifted off was that she didn't want this to end ever. Even as she knew this was unrealistic, she at least hoped it wouldn't have to end anytime soon.

Steve slept a bit with the sleeping beauty on him but one of his eyes was partially open, a lesson he had learned long ago in a distant prison where he had changed forever, months before he met the woman that changed her life. Though he was a long ways away in both distance and time from that part of his life, it had stuck with him, a skill many convicts had adapted in order to survive. With his barely open left eye he peered at Claire and smiled.

The sleep of the innocent...God i miss that.

That's all for chapter 14 people I will have 15 up as soon as possible and you can expect a nice love scene soon muhahahahaha. Anyway, I figured in order for a significant amount of time to pass for Chris and co. to have recovered and come to NYC night and day would have to go by.

Claire is asleep in Steve's arms and all though when she wakes up it will be dusk again, I will have for the other characters that are now in NYC, I will show what they are doing during the day during an infection something Capcom didn't do with Rez Eve until RE 4. Which honestly in a way was genius as it made both day light scary oddly enough and it managed to make night even more so because in both 4 and 5 the games start off in the day and then it's dusk when things get totally fucked.

Speaking of Steve's prison time I will elaborate on that in a different fic that you could say is a prequel to this one. Angel, the cholo who is with Victor's group was a convict at Rockfort Island same as Steve so obviously he was one of six survivors in the 3 planes Claire and Steve saw in CV X (The planes hold two each)

I will show what Steve as well as other inmates, mostly other inmates lived like in the prison before, during and after the outbreak there. And why Steve learned to sleep with one eye open. Honestly, since I did time myself before just a little bit, I managed to perfect that skill too. If you wonder what it's like it's like being half asleep half awake but a part of you is still conscious.

So Ada has a concussion, the BSAA attempted to help some people upon arrival and it went downhill fast, and Claire and Steve are cuddling up like long lost love birds. What next for them? Hmmmmmmmmm! I wonder?!

lol.

Any who i hope you enjoyed it and stay tuned for chapter 15. Oh by the way, that line Chris said that's why we can't intervene is a slight nod to the movie Saving Private Ryan (Mellish's character should have lived, he was Jewish and te war was his revenge! Sobs) when after Caparzo gets killed Tom Hanks says "That's why we can't take children"

Speaking of WWII movies I am an aspiring film writer myself if i ever make it i may do a movie about the Comanche and Apache code talkers who used their languages against the Germans in WWII (They already did one on teh Dine and teh Japanese)

As for Claire and Steve you vote lemon tasting goodness for next update? XD

OK, that's all. Please R&R and the longer the review the better it just means you paid attention and a long review is the ultimate compliment. I take criticism but no flames. Seriously, if my characters are ooc let me know how they are. So far I would hope i haven't done that but simply just did an expansion on hints we were given on personality from the games.

Until next time.
