Jake

They had found the weapons and now it was just a matter of getting them back to the other prisoners. Jake had found out that Sherry had encountered another group of prisoners different from the ones he had met near the library."

"We can't carry all of these. We're going to have to just go back to the groups we each found and let them know the door to the armory is open."

Jake thought about that plan. "If we do that they might not let us out or they might kill each other,"

"I know but that way we can get out of here. We have to get back to the others. Helena could still be out there. Same with Claire, Chris, Leon and the others. They wouldn't leave me behind so I'm not going to leave them. There's still one Wesker out there and he's gunning for them."

"Yeah but that would only take care of the prisoners. There's still a lot of cops and I even saw some National Guardsman a while ago. They're going to take this prison by force. We need a plan and if we're going to get out of here we'll need to do it soon before they expect us to pick a side. I'm not really looking to kill anymore inmates than I have to or any guards for that matter."

Sherry sighed, "Let's just cross that bridge when we get to it. I'm going to go and let them know we got the door open. You should do the same with your group. If they want to fight it out among themselves let them. They'll either do that or work together for a final stand against the law but whatever happens when the bullets start flying I don't want to be here either. We just can't rush it. So for now you didn't see me and i didn't see you."

He nodded. "Okay...well let's meet up right here when we can. Say an hour?"

She nodded and gave him a hug and a peck on the cheek before they headed off their own way. Jake couldn't focus on much except how much he wanted to get the fuck out of here. Just then he looked and saw a man hunched down in a cell. The man was a guard and he called out to him, "Hey...can you let me out of here...?" Jake sneered. "I don't know. Why should I? I hear about guards in American prison systems. A lot of convicts are bad but you guys enjoy being sadistic towards people who can't legally hit you back. I won't kill you but I don't exactly have to save you. If you want to be freed, wait until the bulls try and retake the prison."

"I haven't eaten in three days...I don't deserve this...I've made some mistakes but...i was just doing my job...please...here...take my keycard...get me out of here..."

He went up to the nearest computer hesitating. "Those guys are rationing food from the cafeteria and what's left from the commissary as it is. I doubt they're going to be thrilled with another mouth to feed. In case you haven't figured out, I aint a cop or a con. I'm just a guy in the wrong place at the wrong tim,e trying to get out of this shit hole."

"That's what I'm doing...! I overheard your conversation with the blonde girl...pretty lady like that? What do you think these animals will do once they get their hands on her? You shouldn't have let her go off by herself like that! Leaving me in here is one thing but tossing your pearls to swine?" Jake shook his head. "She can handle herself better than you can or any of them. We're just trying to stop this outbreak. I'm not interested in any of the jailhouse politics."

"Look...take me as a hostage...you'll need hostages when you leave, right?"

Jake shook his head again. "No. Probably not. I'm not a guard or a prisoner like I said. Maybe they need an extra hostage but I don't see what good that's going to do me. I don't give a shit if they keep this place or if the guards take it back. You'd think all these response teams would have better things to do than stop an inmate uprising during the zombie apocalypse anyway. Survival should be the priority. Not trying to hold onto old institutions that are probably going to be gone forever. Not just here but everywhere. Besides if I take you hostage why would the cons care? And the guards would just shoot me."

"No...that's the thing! If you can get me to the other side of that blockade I'll make sure when we take this prison back from these bastards that we let you and that girl out of here! It's the best chance you have! Those maniacs have weapons too!"

Jake sighed and went to the computer and unlocked the cell with the key card. The man gratefully said, "Thank you! Thanks...you won't be sorry..."

Just then several other inmates also emerged from different cells that Jake had not seen. A group of them looking to me of Mexican descent. Jake didn't remember letting them out. He looked to see one of the leaders from the inmates in the library had a key card of his own. He had come down there. He greeted several of the inmates a few of whom had blue bandannas on. "What are you still doing here, man?" Asked a inmate with a shaved head and a blue rag around his forehead. "We didn't get much of a chance to escape, bro. The city has gone to hell. These things are in here but honestly it's safer in here than out there. We need more soldiers to help."

The gang member turned to Jake saying, "You get those guns?" Jake nodded. "I got what I could carry which is not much I only have so any arms but the armory is open. You can take what you want here but the rest is up to you. And I'm keeping one of these Assault Rifles for my trouble."

Trigger shrugged. "Be my guest. But I aint helping you find the right kind of ammo for it that's on you."

Just then he took notice of the guard Jake let out. "Well well well. Officer Harris. I was wondering where your punk ass was!" The cholo raised his handgun. Jake raised his Spas 12 at him. "Can't let you do that. I need..we need him alive. For hostages."

Trigger's men pointed guns at him too. Those that had them. He turned to one of the men who didn't have guns. "Go get the others and tell them the armory is open.I gotta deal with this shit here."

"We have more guns than you do homes. Do you know what I did to end up in here? I cut a guy's throat in Chino. I've been shooting guns since I was a teenager, man. I'm not just some gang banger with a gun. I practiced and while it has been some years since I've held one, I aint too rusty. You're outmanned and outgunned. Point that gun somewhere else. Our fight isn't with you/ It's with the prison administration. Some of the other guys think help is coming. They might be. Maybe not. What it boils down to is they want to put us in line or maybe even kill us. They might be able to retake the prison but they aint retaking the city and on the off chance that we can stop them here we need a spot for us to be safe at. Cause either way they either want to shoot us all, or put us back in our cells to wait it out. But if the army or whoever really is coming to help then why can't we get a second chance? Better yet why can't they wait until this shit is all sorted out to get the prison industrial complex running again? Why do we have to be in our cells while they got guns and body armor and vehicles? I heard they might even be nuking this city. So we might even need to find a way out but whether we leave or stay, it should be on us to choose and have the freedom to do it."

Jake told him, "You might be a seasoned gang banger but I'm a fucking mercenary. I've fought in the middle east, Eastern Europe and South America. I've been handling guns for a long time too but the difference between you and me is you've been taking on other gang bangers so even if you know how to shoot better than the average banger, your enemies were amateurs at best. Mine were trained killers and I still came out on top and I've faced way worse odds than this. I don't care what you or Rivera or Adams or Jones do with this prison. I don't plan on sticking around. I just want to find my friend and get the hell out of here. And this guard like it or not, is my bargaining chip."

Trigger told his men to lower their guns. "I lowered mine. You gonna lower yours?" Jake slowly, reluctantly did. The prisoner grinned. "Now as far as guards and taking them hostage goes, I don't know if you heard those fireworks not too long ago but the pigs an even some national guard reservists tried to get in through our barricade. They took out five of us but we got three of them and took one of theirs and he's wounded."

Jake shrugged. "I found him. He told me he'd rather be under my supervision than yours. I mean I aint a cop so I don't know why he;'d want that but then he doesn't have the history with me that he does with you."

Officer Harris said, "They'll make a piƱata out of me, kid. You gotta keep them off of me," Jake snarled, "If you want to live, shut up!" Trigger chuckled. "You know what this guy did? He would beat the shit out of inmates for fun. When I was in solitary he made sure the other guards forgot to feed me some days. Som,times I would go three or four days without eating. He wouldn't let my friends shower sometimes either. He killed one of my friends claiming the guy had a shank he beat the guy to death but he didn't have a shank. I know this because I made shanks for him and he didn't have one that day. He planted that shit. You're defending this guy, Jake? You think that's a good idea?"

Jake said, "Look possession is nine tenths of the law. I'm trapped in this place with you but I'm not a prisoner I'm a mere. You guys got yourselves a guard to trade so maybe I need one myself. The guards shot at me too if you didn't forget. They don't care that I'm not wearing prison blues. They're shooting anybody."

One of the gang members walked up to the guard. He stabbed the man with a shank in the back. "Fucking punk! You aint kicking us around no more!" The guy cried out as he stabbed him again. Jake growled, "What the hell?! I thought I said to leave him alone!" Just then a blast sounded and knocked them all back. A hole had been blasted in a wall and several guards, police officers and soldiers came in firing. Two of the inmates were mowed down immediately and Jake hurried to cover and Trigger fired his handgun back at the people as they ambushed him. The prison guard took several rounds as well after already having been stabbed. Jake snarled as he retreated to the library firing the Assault Rifle he had just gotten. "What did I tell you, asshole?! I told you they were coming!"

He took cover behind a wall as they fired and they kept coming. He caught one cop in riot gear with seven rounds in the neck. He began to head back to the library and he and Trigger, who had taken two rounds screamed, "Let us in! They're coming!" The cops had gotten through the initial barricade too. Tear gas filled the room and the various prisoners of different groups scattered retreating but a few were tossing Molotov cocktails as they tried to get away. Just then, Jake saw Sherry coming the other direction, and several inmates who were heavily armed. These same inmates fired upon the other group and they hit three inmates including two Aryans and one member of the ALKN. Jake ducked for cover as two more were wounded. Rivera, Jones, Adams and Trigger rerturned fire but only with Handguns. "Those neutral cocksuckers are trying to waste us!" Howled Adams as he hit a member of the group Sherry was with. Jake screamed, "STOP! We can't kill each other the guards are trying to kill both sides!"

Sherry cried out something they couldn't hear. Adams took two more rounds as the two groups exchanged fire. Jake cried out, "Stop! I know her! Give me five goddamn seconds!" Jones called, "Make it quick! We're getting hit from both sides we can't afford to fuck around!" Jake hugged her and he said, "We gotta settle this quick. I don't know what's going on with the other group but if we don't work together at least for now we're all dead. Can you let them know that?"

She nodded but cried out, "I know! But these guys say the gangs picked on them before the outbreak happened and they're out for revenge against them and the guards!" Jake went up to the man that seemed to be the leader he set his own weapon down. "I just want to talk. Listen...the girl..she's the only reason you have those guns her and me. I'm with these guys she's with you but me and her are together. You have to pit whatever happened aside."

The leader of the rogue prisoners sneered, "You know those assholes tried to shank us just as often as guards tried to kill us? You know how many of my boys over here were raped by the Aryan Brotherhood? Or stabbed by the Latin Kings? Or had their lunches taken from them by Bloods? Things have changed now and we don't have to take their bullshit anymore. We have the guns. We'll take them out and the guards."

Jake shook his head. "You have guns but you don't have body armor. The National Guard does. They're a united front. The guards, whatever state police thy got left, the reserves. You have to put that aside. You can kill each other later. Deal with the bigger threat first and then decide who gets street justice afterwards. The bigger enemy is going to shoot you no matter who you are. They're shooting at me and i'm not even a prisoner. They're shooting at Sherry and it's impossible for her to be a prisoner here!"

Trigger stepped towards the Chinese American inmate. "Look man...all gang members didn't pick on you guys. You see this?" He held a tattoo on his right arm up that said Sur 13. "That's what I represent and out here the biggest vatos in the barrio are Latin Kings. Plus the Bloods. I represented what I did and I still had people coming at me the same as they come at you but me and mi compas stood tall on the yards. We took shanks beatings but we fought back same as you."

The inmate from the other side sneered, "Yeah but with your macho bullshit it a guy from your car got raped, he couldn't be in your gang. Half the guys with us either have been raped or beaten by guards and by other assholes in here. We couldn't all watch each other's backs. I had to watch out for the guys in my car, against the gangs in our car. But now that society is crumbling, and the prison system is done here, we don't have to play by the administrations rules. We're looking out for each other against all the gangs in this place and the guards. And unlike you gangsters we don't keep gays out either. "

Trigger scoffed, "Fuck bro! You know what you sound exactly like? Every gang that ever start in prison ever! You might be a United Nations of cons but as soon as those placas get through that barricade that aint gonna mean shit. And even if you do take in whoever has been beaten down that's how every prison gang that's preying on the weak now started out. As people that got bullied."

It was true. La Eme known as the Mexican Mafia had started for Mexican inmates in prison picked on by white and black inmates in California prisons. The Black Guerrilla Family had started to protect themselves from the Mexican Mafia and the Aryan Brotherhood and the Aryan Brotherhood had been started to protect white inmates from Mexican and Black inmates. And in NY prisons it was the same. The Latin Kings NY faction had started to protect Puerto Rican inmates from the 5%ers and then later the United Blood Nation had started to protect black inmates from the Latin Kings.

"If I give you any of these guns we have in the armory...you'll shoot us...for shooting you..."

Trigger said, "I give you my word I won't!" The last of the cocktails were thrown and three more guards burned while the others tried to put it out but they started to breach the barricade. Sherry cried out, "It's now or never!" The leader of the rogue prisoners cried out, "Fuck! All right follow us!" They ran down the hall, with Adams, Jones and Rivera holding off the guards. Adams took several rounds in the gut as a guard in riot gear with an M4 fired. Jake wondered how they got weapons so fast when it was they who got to the armory first. Then he realized outside reinforcements must have supplied them. He returned fire with the Spas 12 hitting one guard but then taking off. Adams coughed up blood as the guards surrounded him and more tear gas filled the air. With the flashes of a few more muzzles he was gone.

Several more National Guard reservists pursued them with riot shields. They fell back to the armory and the inmates started stocking up on guns. Sherry unloaded a magazine from her rifle into a reservist having to unload the whole thing as she tried to use the shield to protect himself but she struck him with a round in the right eye. Jones got a hold of a shotgun and he was making a stand, firing trying to keep the guards back while the other inmates got weapons. A soldier fired striking the inmate in the forehead killing him instantly. Rivera took a few pellets from a shotgun himself collapsing as he tried to hold them off. He fell, but still had the Handgun in his hand and he still fired but with a few rounds from an LMG, the ALKN member was executed. The other inmates came out firing and a few had tear gas themselves and threw flash bangs as they retreated trying to get away from the DOC officers.

Just then, several more figures emerged and lunged at both the inmates and some of the guards. There was about twenty zombies and all though the guards and the inmates were well armed it was a narrow space so a few zombies got through biting two inmates from the rogue population as well as a couple of Trigger's men and some of Jones and Adam's gang members too. About ten of the zombies swarmed the DOC officers who fired at them instantly dropping them with head shots and body shots but one zombie did bite a police officer on the leg where part of it was not covered in armor. The man screamed in pain but fired into its head putting it down. Jake and Sherry scurried to the back as the officers continued their gunfight with the inmates after all the zombies were dead but more were coming and yet they still had their gunfight. Trigger took another round this time in the left arm.

They ran until they were in the cafeteria again but before long so was the gunfight between prisoner and staff and Sherry noticed a few civilians as at least 1,500 people who worked at Rikers before the infection had been people with civilian jobs. There was two women and three men huddled behind a table they had makeshift weapons but they were trying to stay out of the way of the gunfight. More infected were coming. Jake grabbed Sherry's hand. "Come on we gotta get outta here. We'll find a bus and I'll hot-wire it."

Shery protested, "We can't just leave all these people!" Jake told her, "They made their choice to stay and fight. Some of them are going to die no matter what we do. We have to get out there and stop this we have to make sure the others are okay. Leon and all of them. They're waiting for us. We need to go! If this city doesn't end up being destroyed either by the infection or a missile maybe we'll come back for them but the best thing we can do is get out of the way of the shooting. At least with zombies they're easier to avoid and deal with. I almost got shot three times in the last five minutes let's go!"

She reluctantly followed him and he told her, "I know a different way out. Come on. I still have the key."

As they came down another cell block, they spotted another horde of zombies. They went to turn around and saw more coming. "Jake...what do we do?!" It was strange she asked him that seeing as she had survived three instances of outbreaks and he had only lived through two."

Jake fired his handgun as did she and he dropped several zombies the lesser of the tw groups coming from the way they came but more were coming from the direction they were going. Jake got his makeshift glove back out and started swinging at the carriers. He saw there was more than twenty this time. He realized he might have made the wrong call. "SHIT!" He swung trying to keep them back. Just then automatic fire sounded off and Jake and Sherry hit the ground as the rounds mowed down the twenty seven carriers. Jake looked to see three BSAA agents standing there. "Are you okay?" Asked a man of African descent. Sherry said, "That was too close but we're fine. Thanks."

A woman of Asian American descent asked, "Are you Sherry Birkin and Jake Muller?" Jake demanded, "Who wants to know?" A third member said, "Chris Redfield sent us to help you. We've been trying to stop this plague ever since it started here. We just came from the outbreak in Puerto Rico too. I'm Natalie Vega."

"I'm Yoko," Said the second agent. The man introduce himself, "I'm Joshua Stone. I was with Agent Redfield in Africa,"

Jake, weary, asked, "What are you doing here?" Josh told him, "We're evacuating this city. We need to head back to the Empire State Building. That is going to be our evacuation point. We're going to try and evacuate more people from the city a more emergency services and the military will help get more people to safety and try to get rid of them but you are still a VIP. You'll have a ticket out of here before anybody else does."

Jake asked, "Why me? You already had my blood for the cure. All of you. Everybody else. There's a cure for the C virus. Why am I stilll above anybody else?" Josh told him, "Look, there's not much time to chit chat so I'll give you the quickest explanation. My team, Chris, the others, we've lost a lot of team mates. What you see here is all that remains of Delta Team. We're under equipped to stay here. There are other SOU teams coming to help. We will come back when we have been debriefed and reinforced but we need to go to the HQ. You and Agent Birkin can go wherever you want after that."

Sherry turned as more gunfire was still going on, seeming amazed the gunfight had not ended yet. "Jake, this is what you wanted! To get out of here. We've been here for days! Let's get out of here."

Jake reluctantly sighed. "All right...I'll go with you..."

Claire

She was sobbing to herself softly having not left the women's bathroom. She looked in the mirror with blood shot eyes, tears still rolling down her cheeks. Chris and the others had been gone for at least an hour and she wasn't sure how long it would be before they got back or if they ever would . "You said you'd never leave me again..." She said to herself but also to him. Though she had toughed it out to escape the lab, it still hurt.

"Claire...I haven't left you..." She looked, blinking almost blind from her own tears to see Steve had just appeared. He looked tattered and was still covered in his own blood but he was there. "Oh Steve!" She wrapped her arms around him sobbing into his chest. "I thought you were gone...for good..."

He told her, "I'm not going anywhere...and neither are you..I love you Claire..."

She looked at him, her blue eyes blinking tears away and she kissed him saying softly and sweetly, "I love you too..."

He looked at her and he said, "Claire...Wesker's still out there I know you know that but you should know sommething else...ever since I...came back...I can hear and see even better than before and I had super human abilities before my second death...but...I don't know how to say this..."

Claire looked at him, puzzled. "What is it?" His hand trailed to her stomach softly rubbing the skin. "You're carrying...a child...I can can sense it..."

She smiled, a bit shocked. "How do you know that?" He looked down, "It's hard to explain. I can feel it. I know we were just together not too long ago but I can sense an energy. Life inside you..."

Claire swallowed not sure how to process this. She had been sick but she knew that sometimes people had vomited when they were upset too and she had certainly cried her eyes out over him and had been just moments ago before she knew he had been resurrected. He brushed a strand of auburn hair from her eyes. "If you don't believe me we'll get at best and find out for sure. But trust me...it's true..."

She smiled kissing him happily. "Rani...I have to get back to her. She's going to be thrilled!" Steve smiled, "That little girl you were looking after?" She nodded. "I want you to meet her. When this is all over we'll..."

Her words were cut off as the ground shook and a large force sent her flying. Steve went to grab her but he too was knocked down. There was an explosion. No... a series of explosions. Debris was flying everywhere as stall doors flew off the stall, the sinks exploded sending water everywhere. Claire was hurt he could see a few pieces of debris cut her arm so Steve sped up to shield her from harm covering her. "STAY DOWN!" He screamed. Claire's ears were ringing but Steve seemed to be able to hear. There was gunfire outside and more explosions. Claire could hear Leon screaming but couldn't make out what he said. "Leon...what happened...?"

Steve told her, which she only barely head, "Drones..."

Thought I'd end this chapter on a cliff hanger. I intended it to be longer but I decided more should be saved for later and I wanted to update. I've just been busy these last couple months i had a birthday on the 22nd of last month and have been busy with school. Homework, all kinds of shit. But I've still taken some time out. Now those gangs I described with Trigger my OC that's true.

As for that OC i introduced in a previous chapter that Sherry interacted with in a previous chapter his fate and Trigger's right now is unknown at least to you as I intended it. The releasing of the guard who was said to be sadistic as well as the inmates killing him was based on an elide of the strain. As for the gangs i mentioned and why they started that pretty much is true. I mean I do a lot of GTA stories and usually Resident Evil fans don't like GTA and vice versa but me, Humanxyrax and Zilla 2000 are a rare breed that does enjoy both but so my stories deal with gangs a lot too and usually you don't want to mix that sort of thing I mean i read a GTA and Resident Evil crossover that was terrible Liberty City gets the t virus and it's up to the Mafia to stop them that's the dumbest idea i ever heard. Well...aside from these Chris/Piers pairings and these AU Resident Evil High School stories. God, in my parody of the Resident Evil games, Jill Sandwich if i ever get around to updating that, i might just have to parody the stupid fucks who write those stories too. Seriously it's a stupid as the Resident Evil movies and Alice Abernathy.

By the way if any of you like Resident Evil stories give Zilla 2000's story Resident Evil: Cry Havoc a look. Just like I have effectively mostly destroyed New York City, he is taking on what if Hawaii was infected with the C virus and how would Leon and Ada and Helena and them deal with it? It's pretty good for a guy who just started Resident Evil fan fiction writing in fact I'd say it's better than 99% of the stories out there anyway since a lot of the RE fanfics are the aforementioned High School or Yaoi pairings. This is just my opinion but I'm free t state it. He also has a fiction press account as do i but i need to reboot my stories on there or at least revise the shit out of them. Also check out Sffriend's story Weapons Of Mass Destruction.

Still, I mean Resident Evil 6 as a mentioned did have an MS-13 tag in RE 6 which is weird cause it was in China but i guess they were trying to stay relevant so I'm, not really trying to mix the worlds too much as far as that but i just might in a prequel I'm writing that takes place o rockdort island that is a prequel to RE CV and a prequel to this but is from the view point of the other inmates. Cause three planes escaped Rockfort aside from Chris and Claire and Steve'e plane so I been talking about it I wanted to do it one of the OC's in this story, Angel, a former gang member turned ALF rebel, is one of the characters who will be in it. So will maybe some outbreak characters too. And Steve it will show some of what he went through before but he won't really be the central character but it will give some insight to his life during incarceration but before the outbreak.

I wanted to end this with a cliff hanger both good but also dangerous and dramatic. And i showed what happened prior to Jake and them marching back to Chris and the others. Hope you enjoyed leave a detailed review.

Thanks to SFfriend for the reviews Humanxyrax, Zilla 2000 and Harbinger Of story is like 2/3 to 3/4 of the way through i mean maybe more like 2/3 but i mean it is way past halfway that's for sure. Till next time.
