Hobbit:
The Human children tore into the food as if they hadn't eaten in weeks.
Thorin kept watching the redhead (clearly no normal child, not with all that metal attached).
But after watching them, he realized who the two boys reminded him of. They reminded him of his nephews. The way they stuck close to each other, like two sides of the same coin, as if being separated was the worst thing that could happen to them.
Thorin resisted the urge to grumble as he draped his cloak over the two of them. He might not be that fond of the race of Men, but he wasn't someone who could turn his back on a child either, no matter what race they were.
Devil May Cry:
"Well, I certainly can't say you're the biggest fish I've caught, but you are the funniest looking one."
Lucas sputtered- both to get water out of his mouth and because there was a strange man holding him upside down- then he got his bearings "Mister! My brother Claus is still in there!"
The man's eyebrows quirked up. Then Lucas found himself on the ground as the man turned back to the water. Lucas's hand clutched at the muddy ground and heavy raindrops pounded his body as he stared at the river.
It wasn't a deep river. He and Claus and Fuel had gone and played in it sometimes. But it was night and they weren't even supposed to be outside after dark- and- and-
The man plunged one hand into the water- yanked Claus out of the water and lifted him up into the air by his shirt collar. "A second funny little fish! Is there a two for one sale going on somewhere around here?"
Claus spat out water and stared at the stranger like he was crazy- his expression was kinda funny. Lucas felt a giggle building up behind up his throat even though it wasn't that funny. He shook his head and started pushing himself to his feet even as Claus kicked out, sending him swinging through the air.
"Let me go!"
"Whoa, calm down little fish. A simple thank you would be nice-"
"Mom's still up there! She's all alone with that monster-"
Almost like it had been waiting for Claus to say something, from the mountain looming above them, there came a roar- and right afterward came a scream-
"Mom!" Lucas's heart cried but his throat closed up, choked him-
"Mom!" Claus cried out even as the silver haired stranger whirled around, still hanging onto Claus's collar-
And then Lucas found his arms full of his red haired twin as the stranger shoved him into his arms and flung his red coat over them and then shoved them into the bushes.
"Stay there. And stay quiet." his joking tone was gone now- and then he was off, dashing into the night, his black clothes blending him into the night-
Claus waited only long enough to recover his balance before pulling the long coat off and throwing it at Lucas and dashing after the stranger- racing in the direction of their mom and the monster that had attacked them.
Lucas bundled up the coat under his arms as he followed.
Baccano:
"Well, I don't know what the deal is with this universe," Kumatora commented as she glanced out the New York City, "but hey, nobody's dead or brainwashed so I'll take it."
"That is good," Lucas agreed but he was frowning as he looked at all her scars and her eye-patch.
"Hey, I'm fine," she said with a smile as she saw that expression on his face- placed one of her hands over his.
"I definitely like this world," Claus said as he tilted his hat and admired his reflection in the mirror. "Lookin' handsome!" he declared, then turned to face his brother. "You should get a suit too Lucas. I mean, that outfit's not bad, but the vest is a little..." he wiggled his hand. "But hey, that tattoo is awesome!"
Lucas blushed and rubbed at it as if he could make it go away.
"I like it," Kumatora said, smiling as she leaned forward and Lucas only blushed even more.
Duster shook his head as he smiled, then adjusted his glasses.

Because crossovers are fun and everything is more fun when I'm not supposed to be working on it.
And for Baccano, for those of you who don't know, is a anime/manga/light novel series. I'm only familiar with the anime, but it takes place in the 20s and 30s in America(mostly) and involves gangsters and immortals and crazyness.
Lucas is Jacuzzi Splot and Kumatora is Nice Holywood (which is weird, because normally I ship her with Claus instead). Claus is Firo and Duster is Maiza.
