Being in Lima with Brittany during Christmas turned out to be okay. Even though she suggested they could catch up on a lot of math.
"Hell no, Brittany, I am not going to spend Christmas with algebra!"
It was the day before Christmas. Miss Holliday decided that since they were only Santana, Brittany and herself left at school, they should drive downtown and spend the day there. Santana was thrilled; finally she could get out of the school if only just for a little while.
They took off right after lunch in Miss Holliday's own car. She was actually pretty cool. Brittany was really exited: she couldn't stop talking about this place where they had the best marshmallow candy. "It tastes like angels! Actually I don't know what angels taste like, but I think it would be something like this…"
They spend a few hours shopping. Miss Holliday bought the last Christmas presents and Brittany bought a scarf – and way too many marshmallows. Santana didn't buy anything. But Brittany found a lot of clothes she thought would look good on her.
"What about these? I have one at home just like it, mine's just pink!"
"Nah, I'm not really into sweatpants with puppies, Brittany…"
"They're comfy though… Oh, what about this one!"
"Brittany, the fact that it's a t-shirt doesn't make it any better, it's still filled with puppies."
When it was time to eat dinner they went to a restaurant called Breadstixx. They ordered their food (Brittany just closed her eyes and pointed on the menu) and talked about Christmas, school, Brittany's cat and how annoying Rachel 'the hobbit' Berry was. Miss Holliday agreed with this one. She really was cool.
…
Santana and Brittany sat in the backseat of the car on the way home. Both of the girls stared out of the window, looking at the small layer of snow covering the road. Santana didn't really notice the music playing on the radio until Brittany suddenly began to yell.
"Oh, oh, I love this song! Turn it up, Miss Holliday!"
Miss Holliday laughed and turned up the radio. Santana didn't know the song but it had a nice beat. She looked over at Brittany who was dancing. Or she danced as good as you can when you're in a car.
You have stolen all my senses
There's a fever in my heart
And you are taking my defenses
You are pulling me apart
Santana couldn't stop smiling as she watched Brittany dance. She was really, really good.
Forever we're young and we are dying
And we will be spilling all our blood
So I will take away my feelings
I will be an animal
As the song came to an end Brittany stopped dancing and sat normally back in her seat. She still bobbed her head a little bit, following the beat of the next song.
Santana saw a sign saying 'gas station 1 mile' and suddenly she got an idea.
"Miss Holliday, can you pull over at the gas station? I really need to pee."
"But we're home in like 15 minutes, Santana."
"Pleeeeeease Miss Holliday, I really need to go!"
Miss Holliday sighed. "All right."
The car stopped and Santana got out.
"We'll just wait here. Hurry up!"
Santana walked to the toilet stalls, but as she got there she walked by and into the shop. She accidentally took $50 from Quinn's wallet before she went home for holiday vacation. She probably wouldn't miss the money anyway.
She grabbed some beers and a bottle of vodka. Thank God she remembered to bring her fake ID. The guy behind the desk wouldn't have noticed anything anyway, he was watching a football game on his computer. Santana also bought a coke, some chips and a bag so she could hide the booze without seeming suspicious.
Back in the car Santana smiled at Miss Holliday and held up the bag.
"Sorry it took so long, I just wanted to grab some sweets."
"Why didn't you say that you wanted sweets? I have lots of marshmallows, you know that!" Brittany was sweet, but God, sometimes she was so naïve.
They arrived at the school 20 minutes later. It took a little bit longer to get home because it had started to snow a lot. A voice on the radio said that there would be a blizzard and that it would probably last until the next morning.
"It's so beautiful. I love snow, don't you, Santana?" Brittany looked just like a little happy child.
"Oh yeah, yeah, I love snow. The fact that it's cold and wet and it fucks traffic up. What's not to like!"
Brittany just laughed. "You're weird."
The evening was kind of boring. Brittany decided to finish her paper for her English class (Why would you write an essay 2 weeks before deadline?) and Santana just sat in her room listening to music. The blizzard was so bad now she didn't even want to open the window to have a cigarette, she would most likely just freeze to dead.
The school had a rule that said that you're not allowed to leave your room after 10 pm. Santana looked at the clock. 11.43. Screw this. She was bored and she really needed to get her drink on. She took the bottle of vodka and 2 beers and walked to the door before she decided to walk back and grab the last 4 beers as well. Hell, let's just go all in she thought to herself.
She opened the door and poked her head out. The hallway was dark and quiet. She tiptoed until she reached room number 17 were Brittany was. She knocked on the door, not that loud. She wouldn't want to wake up Miss Holliday. No answer. She knocked again, this time a little louder and now she heard footsteps from the other side of the door. Brittany opened up, looking really confused. Santana clearly just woke her up.
"Surprise, bitch!" Santana whispered. "Look what I brought."
Brittany's eyes went from small and sleepy to big as she grabbed Santana by the arm and pulled her in to her room.
"We can't have alcohol here!"
"You're kiiiidding... Are we NOT allowed to drink at this awesome boarding school? Well, that's news to me!" Santana smirked. "Come on Britt, let's get our drinks on."
"Get our what?"
"Get our... whatever, you know what I mean, let's get drunk!"
"But I haven't really been drunk before..." Brittany looked embarrassed.
"Another big shocker!" Santana said, sounding like it was the wildest thing she's ever heard.
"I don't even know if I like it..."
"No one really likes it, it's the 'being drunk' part that's worth it." Santana opened a beer and handed it to Brittany. Brittany just stood there for a while with the beer in her hand.
"Okay Brittany, the thing is, you actually need to lift it to your mouth and drink. That's how it works." Santana took a zip of her own beer. She sighed. This was good.
Brittany took a zip of her beer and made a really funny face. "Yuk... I'm not sure I'm going to like drinking beers like ever..."
"The first beer usually taste like crap. Once you're drunk you won't even notice it."
"What if someone finds out?"
"Who would find out? We're the only students here, and Miss Holliday will definitely not come every hour to see if we're asleep."
Santana sat down on Brittany's bed. It was the first time she was in Brittany's room and even though there was another bed in the room she figured this one was hers; the beddings had this baby pink color and there was s small poster of Britney Spears over the bed.
"I forgot that you we're a Britney-girl."
"I just think that we have a lot in common." Brittany sat down next to Santana.
"A lot in common? That... sounds strange. Damn, I forgot to bring a glass or cups or something..."
Brittany stood up. "I have this one." She took a mug from her shelf.
'Best dancer of the season 2009'
"You got the title for best dancer and all you got was a mug?" Santana laughed. "Okay, it will work though."
Santana poured some vodka in the mug and handed it to Brittany.
"Drink up."
…
A few hours later Brittany lay on the floor almost dying with laughter. Santana had told her about this one time she went to Hawaii with her parents and saw a guy, who was hitting on her, fell in the pool while he tried to play cool. It wasn't a very funny story actually, but they were both pretty drunk by now and Brittany acted like she just heard the funniest thing ever.
"So he… he…" Brittany laughed so hard she had tears in her eyes. "He almost drowned because he wanted you so bad!"
"He didn't almost drown, Brittany. The pool was like 4 feet deep," Santana said and then burst out laughing just as much as Brittany.
Still laughing, Santana asked Brittany to come back to the bed and stop rolling on the floor. Brittany, still laughing as well, stood up and sat back down next to Santana.
"I can't blame him, though," Brittany said.
Santana frowned, but smiled. "What do you mean?"
"I mean, you're hot, he probably just felt like being cooled down."
Santana suddenly got butterflies in her stomach. Jeez, why would this give her butterflies? She already knew she's hot, that's not new. It was probably just because of the alcohol. Yeah, that's it. Just play it cool, Santana.
"I know. Can't help it," Santana shrugged. The butterflies were still there.
When she turned around to face Brittany she could have sworn Brittany was looking at her lips. She grabbed the bottle and the mug. "More?"
Brittany shook her head.
"Nah. Can we just, like, talk or something?" She smiled.
"Talk? But we've talked all night!"
"Yeah I know, but we haven't talked about ourselves. You know, not really. I still don't know much about you – except that you make guys swoon and drown themselves with your hotness."
"And that's because it's the most important thing about me; I'm super hot," Santana said. She hated talking about herself.
"What if I tell you a secret about me and then you tell me a secret about you?" Brittany bounced on the bed, looking like this was a very genius plan.
"Ugh. Fine. Bring it on."
"I… love to dance!"
"Not really a secret Brittany," Santana said and pointed towards the mug. "And I saw you dance today in the car." The thought of the dancing Brittany made her smile.
"Oh… right." Even though Brittany sat in the bed she swayed a little bit while thinking. It was pretty clear she was drunk. Okay, she wasn't the only one; Santana could feel a warm buzz in her head and she felt relaxed.
"Okay! I used to have an imaginary pet duck called Tiger," Brittany said in a serious tone.
"A duck? Why?"
Brittany shrugged. "I kinda always wanted one… Okay, your turn!"
Santana tried to think of something to say.
"I lost my virginity when I was 14."
Brittany looked surprised. "Wow, you were young."
"Probably… I don't know. Everyone else did it, I might as well do it too."
"I don't think you should have sex just because other people expect you to," Brittany said in a small voice that sounded more like a whisper.
"Your turn," Santana said.
Brittany had her eyes locked on the floor. Then she looked up to meet Santana's eyes.
"I've wanted to kiss you all night."
Santana's heart skipped a beat. She didn't even know what to say; for once she was speechless. Did Brittany really say that? Her eyes were still locked to Brittany's, but she turned her head and placed her eyes on the floor where Brittany's had been a minute ago. She sat like that for a while before she looked back up.
"Brittany, I…" And then she felt Brittany's lips on hers. They were soft. Brittany's lips didn't move and neither did Santana's; it just felt like time stood still. After a few seconds Brittany broke off the kiss.
"I'm sorry, I just really wanted…" Brittany didn't manage to finish her sentence. The second she removed her lips, Santana leaned in and replaced hers on Brittany's.
Santana could feel Brittany smile into the kiss and suddenly the butterflies were back. They kissed slowly at first until Santana felt Brittany's tongue on her lower lip and the butterflies went crazy. She placed her hand on the back of Brittany's head and kissed her harder. Brittany put her hand on Santana's jaw. She tasted sweet like vodka and marshmallows and Santana felt intoxicated.
Santana knew this was wrong. But right know it sure felt good.
