Hiro: 5
Tadashi: 12
I'll work on the whole "what's Tadashi afraid of" thing later. I just don't have any ideas for it right now, sorry.
"Hiro, get down from there." I say without looking up from my book. The little monster just couldn't give me five minutes of peace.
"Don't sweat it TAdashi. I do this all the time." Hiro replies, standing on his tippy toes on the counter. He pretty much recently learned to say my full name and still stressed the first part unnecessarily.
"Oh yeah, that's REAL reassuring." I say, shutting my book and getting up over to him. Knucklehead broke his leg a few weeks ago and literally just healed. He didn't need another one. I grab him and pull him down, arms crossed and eyes disapproving. He gives me his guiltiest smile and places his hands behind his back all childlike.
"What's up Dashi? How's your book?" he asks with nervous laughter.
"First of all, you're not supposed to be eating gummy bears before dinner. Second, I told you not to stand on the counter and what did you do?"
"Stood on the counter." He says shamefully, rocking back and forth on his feet whilst staring at the ground.
"I'm very disappointed in you." I tell him.
"I wasn't getting gummy bears though." He defends. I raise a brow, not convinced.
"Oh really?" I say.
"Mhmm." He replies, eyes darting to the left, something he always did when he lied.
"Then what were you getting?" I ask. He couldn't think of anything so he just collapsed to the ground and huffed.
"Get up." I command. He doesn't listen and just blows a raspberry at me. I roll my eyes.
"Don't come crying to me when you break your leg again. And get attacked by the monster under your bed for lying and being the most annoying and terrible brother in the world." I snort, walking away. I hear him gasp and laugh to myself. He'll believe anything.

Life is ironic sometimes…
I was walking down the stairs when Mochi came out of nowhere and scared me, causing me to fall all the way down. Next thing I knew, my leg was in a cast and my pride was no more.
Hiro came into my room, and I groaned. His face suddenly changed into hurt, but then again to neutral. He stared at my cast and laughed. I groaned, hiding my face in the covers. He's so annoying.
"That's what you GET! The monster attacked YOU for being mean." He says loudly, looking rather pleased.
"Oh sure. The monster attacked ME for being mean. It's still gonna get you for being annoying and a pain." I retaliate.
"I'm gonna tell Aunt Cass." He warns.
"You do that. I have a sprained leg. She won't care if I say you're a pest." I hiss.
"You're mean!" He cries, shutting the door on his way out. That was weird, he looked like he was about to cry. Usually he just calls me a nerdy stink face and it's over until the next time. Eh, I probably imagined it.

It was getting kind of hot inside so I thought I'd open the window, but my leg wouldn't let me move at all. I grunted and tried to open it from the bed, but it was practically impossible. Hiro clearly notice because he was watching me from his bed with a smug smile.
"You can't do anything can you?" Hiro asked, slowly processing it. I didn't answer and he smirked viciously. I tried to glare at him in an attempt to scare him from whatever he was thinking, but he was in the zone.
"You can't get out of bed?" He questions. I stay silent, biding my time.
He walks over to my desk and I immediately feel warning bells go off in my head. Hiro then opens my notebook as I sucked in a deep breath. I can't let him know it's bothering me or he'll never stop. If I act like it doesn't mean anything, maybe he'll quit it.
"Dear diary." He says mockingly, turning the page. I internally groan. He knows it's not a diary but he also knows he's succeeding in being the most annoying little kid in the world.
"Wow, look at this important looking homework." Hiro says tauntingly. I feel my eyes narrow on their own and do everything I can to hold back from strangling him.
"Oooops, I think I crinkled one of the perfectly sharp and crisp corners." He says with a giggle. That's it.
"Hiro you stop right now!" I warn, using the scariest voice I can. He still smiles, not showing he's afraid, but I saw him wince.
"I'm gonna tell Aunt Cass that you hit my leg." I say, smirking. This was too easy.
He gasps and shakes his lip. "Th-that's not true!" He protests.
"Who's she going to believe? A mature young adult with a broken leg? Or some stupid little kid?" I ask.
"I'll tell her you said a bad word." He says accusingly.
"What word?" I ask, hiding a smirk.
"Stupid." He says, covering his mouth immediately.
"Well I'll tell her you said it too." I say.
"You're a jerk!"
"Now you said two bad words. Aunt Cass isn't going to be happy."
"I-I didn't MEAN to!" he says, sounding frustrated and distressed at the same time.
"Doesn't matter. You're the most annoying brother in the world and everyone knows it. Now go away already." I say, irritated. He blinks rapidly and tears my homework in half. I feel my blood boil and fist clench. He really wanted to get hurt, didn't he?
Before I could even say anything, he ran out the door, looking like he was crying again. That was way weird. Something wasn't right here. I got up with a grunt and decided to use the crutches again.

"Aunt Cass, have you seen Hiro anywhere?" I ask. I looked everywhere but he wasn't inside.
"No sweetie I can't say that I have." She says, busy with customers. I sigh and decide to head to the roof. Maybe the little devil needed some air.
"Hiro?" I call, climbing up. I see him sitting with his legs up, head hidden inside. I cock my head to the side and walk over.
"Hiro?" I try again, he doesn't budge.
"Hiro, what's going on?" I ask, sitting next to him. He ignores me, turning his body away.
"I'm not gonna know how to help you if you don't tell me." I remind him.
"You don't care anyway!" He cries, voice cracking and muffled.
"I wouldn't be here right now unless I cared Hiro."
"Go away!"
"You know you don't want that."
"You're a jerk. You think just because you're older you don't have to be nice to me!" He shouts, still not looking up.
"Hiro, look up." I tell him.
"I don't have to listen to you!"
"Hiro, will you please look up?" I try. He doesn't budge. I sigh and lay down to get into a more comfy position with my leg and stare at the sky. I hear him move and see him poking an eye out to look at me.
"Why aren't you leaving?" He asks, confused.
"Because I care about you, you knucklehead."
"You don't care at all." He says, defeated. Finally looking up, I see his eyes are red from crying and he looks broken down.
"That's not true. I don't know where you heard that from, but it's a lie." I say.
"You always call me names, you always boss me around, and you always say the monster's gonna get me!" He shouts.
"Hiro, that's just normal brother stuff. I mean, you always call me a nerd and say I'm a jerk." I defend.
"Only because you start it." he whispers, looking down. "Every time I try to be nice, you don't even notice. The day you broke your leg, I was gonna ask if you needed anything, but you looked so mad just to have to SEE ME." he says, voice wavering and sniffles coming. I feel something turning in my stomach and it's not good.
"Well now I just feel like a…like a-
"Jerk?" he whispers for me. I sigh and run a hand through my hair.
"Hiro, I'm sorry. I didn't know it bothered you when I said those things. I promise I won't say them again." I promise.
"And the monster won't come get me?" he asks, sticking his thumb in his mouth.
"It'll have to go through me and my leg first." I say. He smiles a little at that and comes up to hug me.
"Deal." He says, crushing me with his tiny arms.
"Alright, that's enough love. Let's get inside because my leg is KILLING me." I say, trying to get up.
"Let me help you." he offers, sticking a tiny doll hand out. I laugh and accept it, getting up. Maybe just maybe, the kid's not as annoying as I thought.
