Just a reminder that I do not own Love Never Dies or any other Phantom of the Opera affiliation. All of it belongs to Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber.
Erik felt anger rush through him at the life that Christine had lived after Raoul and her were wed. He had begun wishing that he had asked her to leave with him after the night they conceived Gustave. He could barely contain the anger that was sending light tremors through his body. He wiped away the tears that were sliding softly down Christine's cheeks.

She looked up at him and he squeezed her hand as he said "Do not fret my angel, everything will be okay now. You do not have to return to that life ever again, even if Raoul was alive, I would not let you or my son return to that sort of life again."

Christine smiled and answered "I wish I had picked you from the start Erik."

Erik smiled slightly and said "Me too, but who knows how our life would have gone."

Christine answered "But I would have been with you." Erik smiled and said "But you are now, and Gustave and you will never be hurt, I promise you that. I will never hurt you or let anyone else for that matter, you have my word on that."

Christine smiled and Erik could see the toll that her emotions took on her, hidden in the depths of her warm brown eyes. He stood up and gently pulled her up with him. He helped her to the bed and laid down beside her. He wrapped her in his arms and she laid her head on his chest with a content sigh.

She whispered "Thank you for saving me Erik, I am glad to have you and Gustave in my life."

Erik answered "You have saved me as well my angel, and I could not have chosen a better family for myself." He kissed her forehead and whispered "Get some sleep mon ange. I love you."

She smiled and answered "I love you too."

She quickly fell into a deep sleep and Erik stared at her deep in thought. There were so many emotions flowing through him at the story that she told him. He sighed at the many emotions and thoughts that were tumbling through him. He had no idea what to do with that, or even if he wanted to let them go to Paris where they would be exposed to that old life again.

He was broken out of his deep thoughts when a soft voice echoed through the quiet room "Papa, are you still awake?" Erik looked in the doorway to see Gustave standing there shyly.

Erik answered "I am, come in son." Gustave entered the room quietly and walked over to his side of the bed, but made sure to stand in Erik's line of vision.

He spoke softly "I know that I am grown now, but I had a night terror and was wondering if I could stay with you and mother for the night." As Erik stared at him for a quick few seconds, he wondered how many times Raoul had turned him down and spoken harshly to him for asking.

Erik whispered "Of course son, crawl up here." Erik made a little more room between him and Christine and Gustave crawled between the two. Christine instinctively wrapped her arms around him as Erik kept his around them both. Gustave whispered "Good night dad, I love you."

Erik answered "I love you too Gustave." The little boy fell asleep and Erik watched him for a little while. He smiled at how peaceful his son looked as he slept before falling asleep himself. The family slept peacefully through the night knowing that tomorrow would be a very busy day.
