A figure, cloaked by the blackness, trudged through the warm evening. His dark fur, blended perfectly with the moonless night swirling around him. He was invisible to all but the most keen sighted.
A rifled musket slung over his back and a pistol on his hip, Plomistis was ready to kill. To kill for the biggest payday of his life. That night, the purple dragon would die.
A week had been spent in preparation for this evening. Locating the purple dragon's quarters, observing the guards patterns, checking and rechecking his escape route. He was ready.
A half hour passed and the panther found himself crouching in a hedge waiting for one of the Temple's hired guards to pass. Once he was gone Polemistis would have his chance. A three minute period where not a soul would pass the student's quarters, more than enough time for him to take the shot.
Flames overtook the great city of Volans. Airships fired on the tall buildings, sending rubble tumbling to the ground so far below. Foot soldiers of all races scrambled away from collapsing structures, hoping, praying that the next cannon shot wouldn't find them. Dragons shot across the battlefield, not but streaks of color against the smoky backdrop of war.
Above the tallest buildings, Lila found herself standing- or rather floating- looking out on the chaos below. She could remember not how she got here, only that she must stop the conflict. She tried to move, but her muscles refused to respond.
She struggled against the invisible force that seemed determined to restrict her from her duty. And as the purple dragoness fought, she felt a pressure begin to crush her. She tried to scream, to call for help but her lungs were crushed. She couldn't breath. She felt the world fall, farther and farther away. Blackness creeped into the edges of her vision.
Suddenly the pressure left and she was left gasping on the floor. It took Lila a moment to realise that it was indeed a floor. She was no longer floating.
The purple dragoness glanced around her new surroundings. She was in a windowless, doorless room, with stark white walls. The only feature was a tall bookshelf in one corner room. She couldn't identify a light source, yet she could still see perfectly. For some reason this didn't phase the purple dragoness at all.
After a moment Lila pulled herself to her feet and trotted over to the bookshelf. It seemed fairly normal. It was made of a dark wood she couldn't name, on it sat several ordinary looking books, yet for some reason the shelf unnerved her.
It took her a moment to realise why. Then it hit her, the strange titles on the books. Titles in languages she didn't know, titles written in crimson. She shuttered, imagining the crimson ink as blood.
Lila didn't know how long she stared at the books for, but after a time she heard something behind her. Turning she noticed a strange dragon. He was tall, taller than Terrla, his four eyes glowed a strange purple hue. But that wasn't the strangest part of his appearance, his scales were an impossible color. One day Lila would try to describe it, but would find that there were no words that could capture the bizarreness of the color.
"Purple one, welcome to my domain," Lila couldn't hear the dragons voice, rather, she felt it. She felt the words tear at her soul, ripping through everything she was. And yet, she was not afraid. He won't hurt me. She thought, though she didn't know where the thought came from.
"Who are you?"
"I've been called many things."
"What do you refer to your self as?"
The dragon paused for a moment as if he weren't expecting the question, "Irrelevant."
"So are you named Irrelevant or do you just not want to tell me what you're name is?"
"Irrelevant." The dragon repeated.
"Fine, then." Lila pouted, "So..." She asked after a moments pause, "How did I get here? On that topic, where exactly is here?"
"How you got here is irrelevant. Where we are is irrelevant."
Lila snorted, "And you're not going to tell me why I'm here either, are you?"
"Wrong."
Lila waited a moment for the dragon to elaborate, "Well?"
"I will soon return to your world. And wh-" He was cut off by a loud 'boom' that echoed painfully in Lila's head. A split second later an even worse pain bit into the purple dragoness' side. An involuntary scream tore from her throat.
"You are in danger. Awake young one." The dragon didn't seem perturbed in the least by Lila's pain. He waved a paw and Lila saw the world grow blurry. A moment later she was lying in her bed, burning pain in her side and blood staining the sheets below her.
