This story starts at the end of season 10, and of course as the title suggests it begins 5 years after season 10.
Chapter 5 - Telling the twins.
A month after the first ultrasound and everything is all going very well with the pregnancy. Monica and Chandler still haven't told Jack and Erica but are planning on it very soon, especially ever since Monica recently started showing although the bump is small it is still visible if you are looking for it as Monica is now 4 months along. The twins were put to bed an hour ago by Monica on her own since Chandler has had to have a late night meeting at work. Monica and Chandler have decided to have dinner together tonight as a couple and have a nice romantic night in. Monica is just taking the pasta bakeout of the oven to check on it when Chandler comes in the door and quietly sneaks up behind her and scares her by accident. "Seriously do you always have to scare me like that. I almost screamed out and the twins have only been asleep for an hour." Monica told him in an angry but whispered tone as to not wake the twins up who are both fairly light sleepers. "Sorry, I didn't realise I had been so quiet that you didn't hear me come in. How are you?" Chandler apologized and kissed her cheek. "I am fine, we both are fine thanks. Just a little tired and warn out." Monica replies. They both sit down on chairs in the kitchen to have a talk since their food shouldn't be too long cooking. "So You know what we talked about yesterday?" Chandler asked "Honey we talked about a lot of things yesterday. Would you like to remind me!" Monica said "Sure sorry. Okay so we talked about me having this meeting today at work for the promotion." Chandler starts off "Yes I remember now, What about this promotion? You are taking it right? We really could use the extra money with another child on the way!" Monica questions as usual talking rather fast. "Thats right, I don't think I can actually take the job now..." Before Chandler can finish Monica interrupts in a shrill squeaky voice. "What the hell Chandler. I thought we made the decision together that you would take it, especially now that I am going to be out of work for a year." "Look, I am not taking this position because it is in London. I don't want to do any long distance stuff." Chandler said sternly "You mean you don't want to do any long distance again like we had to do before." Monica said huffing. "I also don't want to be away from you or the kids, besides it will be horrible for you raising three kids alone." Chandler said "Who said it would have to even be long distance, Why couldn't we come with you?" Monica asked getting agitated. "We didn't even have to do the long distance stuff the first time round but because you decided not to go it kinda had to be like that. You took another job that you didn't have to and only stuck to for a couple of months." Chandler yelled back as Monica stood up and walked out of the room towards the bathroom with Chandler following her. "Where are you going? You can't just walk away in the middle of a discussion." Chandler said tapping her on the shoulder. "I am going to the restroom, or is that not allowed. Do I have to pee myself just to finish a conversation with you." Monica said and turned around. "Wow mood swings are a lot worse than I ever thought" Chandler said quietly but not quiet enough as Monica still heard what he said "WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU TONIGHT?" Monica yelled very loud so loud as to wake up the twins and the next thing Chandler heard after Monica walked off was cries for daddy and mommy.
Upstairs
Chandler went to comfort the twins after they were woken up, he knows that he isn't supposed to go into their rooms after they were asleep because Monica didn't and still doesn't want them to become clingy and the kind of children that won't go to sleep or who wakes up and expects the parents to go to them every time they cry or have a issue. Chandler walked into Ericas bedroom after knocking quietly and sees that she is tucked under the quilt with it over her head. Erica is pretending that she is asleep so her dad will leave and hopefully he won't yell or get mad at her for being awake. "Erica, Sweetie I know you are awake. I am not upset or mad with you because of that. Its not your fault your mom and I woke you it is ours." Chandler said whilst sitting on the edge of her bed and the sniffling stops and the quilt slowly lowers from her head, Chandler sees her with tear marks down her face. "Oh baby wjats wrong?" Chandler asks "My friends mommy and daddy kept fighting anf arguing and now they live separate and are divorced. I don't want that to happen to you and mommy." Erica said trying not to cry again. "That won't happen sweetheart, sometimes grown ups have to argue and fight but it doesm't mean we love each other or you guys any less. It doesn't mean we are going to get divorced just because we have had a little argument. Mom and I will do our best not to argue when you guys are around. Does that sound okay?" Chandler tells his 5 year old daughter. "Okay daddy. I am tired going back to sleep now, Love you." Erica said before quickly falling back to sleep. Chandler waited for Erica to be properlly asleep before kissing her head and going out of her bedroom slowly closing her door quietly. Chandler goes over to the other side of the hall way to Jacks bedroom to check on him and make sure that he is okay. "Jack buddy. Are you awake?" Chandler whispers out, there was no reply so Chandler assumes that he is still sleeping and goes out of his room.
An hour later - Back downstairs.
Chandler comes downstairs after about an hour because he thought it would be best for Monica to cool off for a while before he even goes down again, whether it means he eats his food cold or not. Chandler walked into the kitchen, and sees Monica there picking at the food that is on her plate. "You shouldn't pick at your food." Chandler said as soon as he sees her doing it. "Your food is in the fridge. Just put it in the microwave for a few minutes it should be fine." Monica said to him. "Thanks, Now eat up." Chandler said and smiled at her as he took his food and put it into the microwave to heat it up. "How is Erica?" Monica asks after a few minutes of slience "She is fine, She was a little upset but I calmed her down and promised her that we will do our best not to argue when they are in the house or around." Chandler said "Oh good. Look I am sorry about how I flipped out, it is these damn hormones they make me so crazy all of the time at the moment." Monica said looking up at him for the first time since he walked into the room 5 minutes ago. "Its okay, I snapped. I love you" Chandler said whilst grabbing his plate and putting it in the dishwasher after eating. "I love you too." Monica said getting up and kissing him.
Next day
Monica is driving Jack and Erica to school and suddenly Erica starts yelling at Monica. "Why were you and daddy fighting last night?" "Its adult things Erica, You don't need to worry about me and daddy arguing because we won't be very much." Monica explains "Oh my god! Mom please don't divorce daddy we need you both together so it will be a proper family not a split up one." Erica starts crying. "Sweetie we are not getting divorced or splitting up okay. I promise." Monica said "Wait, you and dad were fighting last night? What about?" Jack suddenly chimes in. "It was nothing okay, The argument is over and me and daddy are perfectly fine now. All is good for us, there is nothing to worry about. Anyways later on after school me and daddy need to talk to you about something. Monica said "Okay!" Jack and Erica say at the same time but giving each other worried looks.
That night - everyone is home.
The family of four are all in the living room watching movies as they always do on Friday nights after everyone has showered and are in their pjs, or as Erica likes her onesie. "Mom you and dad wanted to talk to us about something. Can we talk now please?" Jack suggests to get the conversation out of the way. "There are two things we need to talk to you about, you know how daddy works close to home, well he may have to go away for work and we have to stay here." Monica said to the children "What does that mean?" Erica said "Monica I didn't take the promotion because they said you guys can't come with me and I can't be without you. The long distance the first time around almost killed our relationship and I don't want to have to miss anything with our kids." Chandler said "Alright so we only have one thing to tell you. You know how you don't have any other siblings and wanted another one?" Monica asks them "Yeah, I really want a sister, but another brother would be good too I guess." Erica shouts out "Alright dear you don't have to yell. But yes it is happening you will be getting a brother or sister who should be here in 5 months." Chandler tells his children who then become excited and very happy that they are getting another sibling. "So I guess we are not getting a puppy like we wanted then." Erica said "But a baby is even better." Jack said straight after Erica.
