John is casually chatting with Roman and Dean. Suddenly, a brunette plops herself into his lap. "Hi John." she says grinning, from ear to ear.
"Uh…Hello." he replies. He gently, but forcefully lifts her and stands to his feet. "Excuse me, but my beautiful fiancée is over at the bar." He places the girl on her feet and walks away.
"I thought Celeste was with Seth." the girl says.
Dean and Roman exchange glances and snicker. The girl smiles at him. "Hey Dean."
"Oh, I'm sorry, but I'd rather not be your second choice." he says flatly.
She looks at Roman. "Don't even." he says. "I'm happily engaged as well."
The girl scoffs and walks away.
Celeste quietly laughs at John approaches her. "For the record I would have done that even if you weren't here watching me." he explains.
"I know." she insists. "I trust you."
"Are you gonna give her the names of some evangelists like you did that girl who Dean was flirting with the other night?" Seth asks.
"No. I think I'll just quietly say a prayer for her." Celeste answers.
The group realizes that they still have a long trip to the next town. "Ed said he is up to driving all night, so we can all settle down." Celeste explains. "If Roman and Dean don't mind taking the couches, Seth you can have my bed."
John raises an eyebrow. "About time I get to sleep next to you again." he says, wrapping an arm around her waist.
Seth's heart drops to his stomach. "No!" he insists. "You don't have to give up for your bed, Sparky."
"Uh…question." Dean quips. "Why the hell do you have separate beds?"
Celeste ignores him and responds to Seth. "I'm not letting you sleep on the floor, birthday boy. It's fine."
Seth starts to resists, but catches Roman giving him surly look. Seth realizes that he can't make a fuss without seeming jealous. "Yeah, okay."
Seth lies in bed trying to relax. "He better not be disrespecting her." he whispers to himself.
John wraps his large arms around Celeste and begins kissing her neck. "Stop it!" she says firmly.
He sighs. "I am counting the days."
"Thank you for your patience." she says.
He strokes her face. "You're worth it."
Later that day, Seth goes to get Celeste for the Shield's match. As he approaches the bus he sees that a window is open. "I can't believe you're asking me to do this!" he overhears Celeste say.
"I don't see what the big deal is." John insists.
"You want to plan our divorce." she retorts. "Why bother getting married?"
"Look, I think we're solid. But it doesn't hurt to cover our bases." he explains.
"You mean your bases." she says. "I would never file for a divorce unless you cheated on, abused or abandoned me. Even if you did I wouldn't take half of your stuff. I'm not vindictive."
John groans. "It isn't as much me wanting this as…" Suddenly he notices Seth standing outside. He approaches the window. "Can I help you?!" he barks.
Seth jumps. "Sorry." He glances at Celeste, who looks back with sorrowful eyes. "We gotta get ready for our match." he says softly.
"Next time knock instead of eavesdropping." John states.
Without saying a word, Celeste exits the bus.
As they walk Seth says, "I didn't mean to overhear all of that."
"It's okay." Celeste responds. "It probably was corporate's suggestion since John is the face of the company. That doesn't change my mind though."
Seth asks, "So…what's gonna happen if you don't sign it?" A part of him hoped this was the beginning of the end for John and Celeste. If they broke up and he took a shot with her, it wouldn't look like he was stealing her from John. With John being the top dog in the company, Seth knew he had to be careful. Another part of him felt guilty for thinking so selfishly. He hated seeing Celeste hurting. He wouldn't care if she stayed with John, just as long as she was happy.
With tears in her eyes she faces him. "I don't know." she whispers. She shakes her head and takes a breath. "Enough of this. We have work to do."
Seth settles into bed. Closing his eyes, Celeste's sad face comes to his mind. He takes some deep breaths and sink into sleep. "I really hate seeing you like this, Sparky." he says.
She smiles faintly. "Thank you, but there's nothing you can do to fix it."
"Maybe there is." he responds. He takes her face in his hands and looks deep into her eyes. His heart races. I shouldn't do this. he thinks. I have to! He presses his lips to her and is surprised when she returns the kiss with such fervor. He pulls back breathless. "I love you. Please let me make you happy."
Seth is awakened by something hitting his chest.
"Get up, man!" Roman orders. "We got flights to catch!"
Seth opens his eyes and shoves the pillow Roman threw at him to the floor. "Okay, I'm up."
"How did you not hear your alarm go off? That awful song could wake the dead." Roman teases.
Seth sits up and rubs his face. "I was dreaming."
"I can guess about what…or I should say who." Roman says.
"She's not happy!" Seth snaps. "She and John are having issues."
"Really?" Roman responds.
"Yeah." Seth answers. "I wasn't supposed to have overheard the argument, so I won't give you the details, but…." He hangs his head. "I can't stand seeing her unhappy."
Roman can't stand seeing his little brother unhappy. "Look Seth, if she and John split up then I won't stop you from telling her how you feel. But you gotta be careful."
"I know that." Seth insists. He knew that there was no way he could act out his dream.
After their session with Pastor Mac, John began to rethink the prenup. He said that he would tell the office he and Celeste wouldn't be signing one.
As the couple are eating lunch afterwards, Celeste asks, "Are you sure?"
John smiles. "Yes. Hell, you're Miss Frugal. Why would I think you'd suddenly change?"
She smiles back. "Remember what I did when you got me that HIGH dollar purse?" she inquires.
"Yeah." he replies. "You told me I was out of my mind and insisted I take it back. I told you no." He leans closer, grinning. "So you sold it and gave the money to your church."
They both chuckle.
Celeste and John spent the next few days together in Knoxville before having to go separate ways on Sunday.
"You seem in a better mood then when I saw you last." Seth says.
"I am in a better mood." Celeste says. "John's calling off the prenup and we may have found a house in Knoxville."
Seth's heart falls to stomach. "Oh." he whispers. He takes a deep breath. "I'm…happy for you." he forces himself to say. He was happy to see her not looking so sad. He had to admit though, he was not happy about the reason.
Celeste states. "I gotta get to wardrobe. I don't really have time for dress shopping and know what I want. So Sandra is making it for me."
"That's great." Seth replies, fighting nausea. "I'll see you later."
"I can't thank you enough for doing this for me." Celeste says, as she looks at herself in the mirror.
"I'm happy to do it." Sandra responds. There is a knock on the door. "Is it okay with you if someone sees the dress?" she asks Celeste.
Celeste nods. "Yeah, as long as it's not John, and he's not here." She laughs.
"Come in." Sandra announces.
Seth opens the door and is awestruck at the sight of Celeste.
Celeste smiles. "Hi."
"H…h…hi!" he stammers. "Wow!"
"It's far from finished." Celeste explains.
"I can't imagine how much beautiful you…um…the dress could look than right at this moment." Seth stutters. "We gotta…" He gestures toward the hallway.
"Oh. Okay. Just let me changed and I'll be right there." Celeste says.
Seth just nods and exists the room.
"Hmm." Sandra mutters.'
"What?" Celeste asks.
"I think someone may have a bit a crush on you." Sandra replies.
Celeste is amused, but doesn't buy into Sandra's feelings. She brushes off the comment and focuses on changing out of the dress.
Seth begins pacing. He rubs his face and groans. "You okay, man?" Roman asks.
Seth looks to make sure no one else can hear. He speaks in a soft voice, "Yeah I'm great. I just saw the woman I love in a wedding dress she's planning to wear for another man. I'm wonderful." He squeezes his eyes shut and rubs the back of his neck.
Dean approaches. He looks at Roman and points to Seth. "What's wrong with him?" he asks.
