A/n: I'm betting no one guessed who the mystery man was. This chapter got away from me a bit, but I think it ties things together nicely. I hope folks enjoy. Please review if you do.

Celeste leans against the door and listens. It's quiet. Slowly she opens the door and looks inside. The dim nightlight in the hall crosses Dean's face. He appears to be resting peacefully, but Celeste's spirit feels anything but peaceful. Tears dampen her eyes. I don't know what words to say, God. But I know that's what you gave the Holy Spirit for. She takes a deep breath and gently closes the door.

"Seth's across the hall." John's voice startles her.

She jumps. "Oh geez!" she cries quietly. "You scared me. What do you mean "Seth's across the hall"? What do you think I was doing?"

Seth awakens hearing voices outside of his room. He approaches the door and cracks it open.

"I'm not sure what you were doing." John states.

"I just…" Celeste looks back at Dean's door. "I had to check on him. I have to pray for him."

"Is he okay?" John asks.

Still looking at the door, she answers, "Physically he seems to be. But I don't think so, not really."

John sighs. "I know you got this big sister thing for him…"

"It's more than that now." she interrupts.

John laughs. "Like what? You're his mother?"

Celeste looks at John with surprise…and realization.

He sees the pondering look in her eyes. "Seriously?"

"Maybe." she answers.

John shakes his head, not believing what's happening.

Seth is amazed at what he's hearing. He knew Celeste had a nurturing heart, but this was intense.

"Maybe you'll feel better after you get some rest." John says, putting his arm around Celeste to steer her toward the stairs. "I actually came down to see if you were sleeping well. Maybe you'll rest better with me."

The sight angers Seth and he tenses.

Celeste pulls away. "No. I'm gonna go back to my own room and pray."

Seth smiles at Celeste standing up for herself and closes his door.

The next morning it was decided that the group would head to John's gym for a workout. Then it was back to John's for Celeste to cook a big breakfast.

So far, no word had been spoken of what took place outside of Dean's room. Seth can see that Celeste is still uneasy. He watches as she loads weights on to the leg press machine.

Celeste's mind wanders. She recalls John's suggestion that she's Dean's "mother". She knew it seemed crazy, but that was how she was feeling. She shakes her head and positions herself on the machine. She realizes that she's loaded way too much weight when her legs smash up against her and she is unable to move. "WHOA!" she yells.

Seth rushes over and grabs the machine. "Think you can push a little as I pull?" he asks.

"I think so." Celeste answers. They get the machine back into position. Celeste laughs, "Guess I got a little overzealous."

Seth laughs. "Yeah. How much weight do you want me to take off?"

"I think ten should do it." she responds.

As he adjust the weights for her he decides to talk about last night. "I got a confession. I overheard you and John last night outside of Dean's room."

Celeste flushes. "How much did you hear?"

Enough to know that you're more amazing than I already thought you were. he thinks. "I already knew you had a special bond with Dean. So I think it's sweet you're feeling all protective of him."

She smiles. "I'm glad someone understands." She felt disappointed that her fiancé didn't seem more understanding.

As Celeste makes pancakes, John says, "So mama, are you gonna make Dean's especially small?"

Both Celeste and Seth feel instantly annoyed with the comment. Dean and Roman are confused.

"Why would she make mine small?" Dean asks.

"Apparently instead of feeling sisterly toward you, now she's having maternal feelings." John explains.

"You son of a…" Seth hisses, fortunately only Roman can hear.

Roman places his hands firmly on Seth's shoulder to calm him. "Hey I think it's cool if Tiny wants to take care of Dean." he says. "It's takes the pressure of Seth and me having to do it."

It's Dean's turn to feel annoyed. "I'm not a damn child. I don't need to be taken care of." he snaps.

Celeste sits a plate of full-sized pancakes in front of him. "Just because your body's grown, doesn't mean your spirit is." she explains.

Dean's eyes narrow at her comment.

Roman enters Seth's room and shuts the door. "You're gonna have to calm yourself, Brother."

"John's an ass!" Seth insists. "It's like he was trying to embarrass her."

"I'm not saying what he did was right." Roman explains. "But Celeste is a strong woman. If he crosses the line, she can handle it."

Seth sighs. "I know you're right. I've even seen her stand up to him. But…" He knows Roman likely won't agree with his next statement. "I wonder if I tell her how I feel, maybe she'll see she that has an alternative."

There is a long silence before Roman says, "I told you. If she ends things with John I will support you letting her know how you feel. But not before then."

"Have you ever read this?" Celeste asks holding a book she bought for John ages ago.

He looks at her and flatly answers, "No."

"Why not?" she asks.

"Just never got around to it."

"Well I got others who might get some use out of it." She exits the room.

Dean is packing when Celeste walks into his room. "Would you read this?" she asks.

He reads the title, His Battle: God's Plan for Victory. "What is it?" he asks.

"It's a devotional book directed toward men." she answers.

Dean smiles. "Thanks, but no thanks."

Celeste rolls her eyes and takes a deep breath. Great, apparently I have an unruly child. she thinks.

Seth and Roman enter. "What's going on?" Seth inquires.

"I bought this devotional for John ages ago and he has yet to read it. I thought maybe I could get Dean to, but nope." Celeste says.

"I'll read it." Seth says.

"Really?" Celeste wonders.

"Sure. Why not?" Seth replies.

Roman grew up having faith and was pleased at the thought of one of his Shield brothers finding faith. Yet, he wondered if this gesture was just Seth trying to get further into Celeste's good graces.

After the show that night the group go to a bar. Seth hangs out with some friends he'd made while living in Tampa. While John, Roman and Dean shoot pool, Celeste observes Seth talking with a cute blonde. She feels her stomach tense. "That's Kim." Dean says, startling her. She turns to see the men returning to the table. "Seth dated her briefly." Dean continues.

"Good for her." Celeste says flatly.

"Are you jealous?" Dean asks, smirking.

"Don't start." she snaps.

John observes the situation and wonders if Dean may be right.

Dean sits next to Celeste. "Okay, so how about a new subject?"

She looks at him inquisitively. He asks, "What's this about you being my mom?"

Celeste shakes her head. "I just really felt the need to pray for you last night. I told John it was more the sister feelings I'd been having."

Dean chuckles. "Let's just stick with you being an annoying big sister." he says.

They get back to John's and the Shield head off to bed. "Darlin, can we talk for a bit?" John asks.

"Uh. I'm really tired, but okay." Celeste replies.

"What exactly is up with you and these guys?"

"What? They're my friends. More than that. Roman's the kid brother I always wanted." She shakes her head. "I'm still trying to figure out this thing with Dean. I wanna be a mom, but not to an adult."

"What about Seth?" John asks pointedly. "What is he to you?"

Celeste goes numb. She really wasn't sure the answer to the question. "Well since we have to kiss for work, it'd be kinda gross if I considered him a brother. I do care about him." she states.

John snickers and hangs his head. How could he fault her for having a big heart? It was part of what made him fall in love with her. He looks into her eyes. "I love you."

"I know. I love you too." She hugs him and adds, "I really am super tired. So are you. Let's get some rest since we got a busy day tomorrow with Raw."

They head to bed separately.

After they get the scripts for Raw, Dean decides to go on a run through the venue. He enters the top of the arena and hears sobbing. He looks and sees Celeste sitting at the end of the top aisle with her face in her hands. He slowly approaches and sits in the seat in front of her. He turns his body to face her and says, "Star?"

Startled, she gasps and blots upright. She sighs, "I'm glad you're not John. Please don't mention this to him."

"Mention what? I don't know what's going on here." Dean says.

"I was in the locker room and Nattie was showing pictures from her and T.J.'s wedding." Her voice cracks as she tries to not start crying again. "There was this one really beautiful picture of her and her mom."

Dean sees and hears his friend's pain. "I'm sorry Star." he says softly.

"It's not like I haven't thought many times about how my mom won't be at my wedding." Celeste explains. "But…."

"Seeing a bride with her mom made it real." Dean finishes her thought.

She nods. "That's partly why I had a hard time talking John into a church wedding. He was afraid I'd be too upset since that's where we had her memorial. So please don't tell him about this."

"I won't say anything to anybody." Dean answers.

He grows quiet and Celeste gets that stirring in her spirit again that something is wrong.

"Are you okay?" she asks.

He smirks. "You were the one sitting her bawling, not me."

She looks deep into his blue eyes. "What's wrong?" she persists.

Dean sighs. "I think I'm a little jealous of you."

"Why?" she asks.

"It seems like you were pretty close to your mom. I practically raised myself. So even though she was there, I never really had a mom."

Celeste smiles. "Now you do."

"Seriously?" Dean responds, smirking. "You're a little young to be my mom."

"Actually I know an evangelist that has a mother's heart toward a man old enough to be her father." Celeste explains. "At least you're younger than me."

Dean shakes his head. "That's just weird."

Celeste shrugs. "I agree. It feels weird. But it is what it is I suppose." She smiles. "It's not like I'm asking you to call me 'mommy'." Just then she sees John enter down on the ramp. "Oh I don't want him seeing me now." She dashes out into the hall.

Dean chuckles. "I bet she wouldn't mind Seth seeing her." he says to himself.
