Celeste sees Seth eating in catering and reading the devotional she gave him. A huge grin spreads across her face and before she realizes what she's doing she dashes over and wraps her arms around him from behind.
Seth is stunned, but instantly recognizes the small arms around him. He laughs. "Hey. What's this for?"
She sits in the chair next to his and answers. "I'm so glad to see you're actually reading that."
"I told you I would." he replies.
"Are you getting anything out of it?" she inquires.
"I'm only on day one."
She takes hold of his hand and softly says, "I'm praying it gets through to you."
Seth realized the touch of the woman he loved, but couldn't have, wasn't hurting quite as badly as usual. He glances down at the book. Maybe it is doing something for me. he thinks. "I'm still not sure completely what to believe." he says, rubbing his forehead. "But if someone like you believes all of this, there's gotta be something to it."
She releases his hand and leans back in her seat. "What do you mean someone like me?" She flashes back to the elevator conversation with Dean and starts to ponder again Seth's feelings.
"I just mean…." He knows he has to choose his words carefully. "You are a very intelligent and caring person. If you think this is legit, maybe it is."
"It's not about intelligence, it's about a faith. I'm fully convinced that some questions won't get answered. But I trust God to guide me through whatever happens in this life." She smiles and looks into his eyes. "And of course I hope to take as many loved ones to the next life with me as I can." There, I said it. I love Seth. But not love like Dean keeps insisting.
Seth's heart slightly ached at the words, "loved ones" because he knew she didn't mean them the way he wanted her to.
During the show, John watches everything on a monitor as usual. The Shield enter for their match and John feels hot when he sees Celeste and Seth share their almost nightly lip-lock. He laughs at himself when she then kisses Dean and Roman each on the cheek. It's just work, Man, chill. he tells himself.
"So when do you two plan on having children?" Pastor Mac asks.
"My clock's been ticking some, so I'm probably gonna retire from wrestling in a year or two." Celeste answers. She nods toward John. "This guy here will be working until he falls over. But that's okay. I'm fine with being a stay at home mom."
John looks at the floor, hesitating to answer. "Uh…" he chuckles softly.
"John?" Pastor Mac says.
"I'm not sure." John responds.
"Not sure about what?" Celeste asks.
Finally he lifts his head and looks into her eyes. "I'm not sure about kids."
"You mean soon….or ever?" she asks.
"I don't know." he answers.
Celeste is stunned.
"Have you two talked about children before?" Pastor Mac.
"Yes!" Celeste insists! "Many times! He knows…everyone who knows me knows what having children means to me!" Tears sting her eyes and her heart rate increases. She takes a deep breath to try to calm herself. She glares at John, who's looking away again. "You never told me you didn't want kids, or you weren't sure about having them."
John faces her and responds, "It's not that simple."
"Actually it is." she says. "How can I be with someone who's not on the same page as me?" She looks at her pastor and stands. "Excuse me, but I have to go." Fortunately she had driven her own car to the church, while John drove a rental.
John stands and protests, "Celeste!"
She ignores him and heads out the door.
John goes to Celeste's apartment, but she refuses to let him in. "Darlin' we can talk about this?" he calls through the door.
She opens the door, John notices she's put the chain on. "No we can't. No one should be forced into being a parent. So, if you think you shouldn't have kids for whatever reason, it's okay. It just means we can't be together." She starts to shut the door, but John sticks his foot in.
"Celeste, please." he pleads. "You said you aren't even gonna be ready for a bit, so give me time to think about it. We still got some time before the wedding, there's no need to call everything off right now."
Exhausted from all of her crying, Celeste agrees. She nods. "Go home and I'll see you Saturday.
The next two days John considers texting or calling Celeste. Instead, he decides to give her space. "She'll come around." he whispers.
Celeste spent the time replaying her relationship with John in her mind. She had tried to keep it at just friends, but John was very persistent. It occurred to her that she especially started clinging to him when her mother had had a close call. John insisted on making sure she had the best care possible. He became their knight in shining armor. "Oh God, what have done?"
It's Saturday and Celeste knows what she has to do, but isn't sure she has the strength. It didn't help that she hadn't eaten much due to her stomach being in knots.
John approaches Seth and Roman. "You know where Celeste is?" he asks.
"We were actually wondering where she is ourselves." Seth answers.
"She just texts me." Dean's voices comes from behind John. The three men face him. "She wanted to know what time the match is. I texted her back, she said she'd make sure she was here in time."
John sighs. "Thanks." He walks away leaving the other men confused. He is waiting when Celeste finally arrives. "Darlin' we need to talk."
"I know." she says softly. "But right now I have to get ready for my boys' match."
"Are you okay?" Seth asks. He can see something isn't right with Celeste.
"I've just really messed up and I'm not sure how to fix it." she says.
Seth wonders what she means, but knows they don't have time to get into it as the match is about to start.
As the Shield's music hits, it occurs to Dean what Celeste is referring to. He slips his arm around her shoulders and whispers, "I think deep down you know you're doing the right thing."
Celeste offers him a faint smile and proceeds down the stairs. Once at ringside, Seth kisses her. She barely responds, it's almost as if she isn't really there.
John watches from backstage as Celeste hovers at ringside. She doesn't appear to be feeling well. He feels concerned.
Feeling woozy, she loses focus on the action. Suddenly Dean pulls her out of the way as Seth and Jey Uso tumble to the outside. "What the hell, Star?!" he yelps. "You coulda been crushed."
Celeste blinks trying to get her eyes to focus, but Dean's face is a blur. Finally, she goes limp in his arms.
John sees the faint and becomes panicked.
