A/N: Song credit to Mr. Big!
Dean lowers to the floor with Celeste in his arms. He pats her face. "Star?!"
Seth crawls over to them. "Sparky?! What happened?" he asks.
"I don't know. She just fainted." Dean responds. "You gotta get back in the ring man."
Seth knows Dean is right and forces himself to focus back on work.
Dr. Amann has witnessed the scene and come over with another medic. "We got her, Dean, focus on the match."
Dean hands his friend over and climbs back onto the apron.
John watches the scene and fights the urge to run to Celeste. As soon as Dr. Amann carries her backstage, John takes her in his arms. "Darlin'? Answer me please." he pleads. He lies her on a gurney.
"Any idea what brought this on?" Dr. Amann asks.
John knew she'd been stressed over their fight. He also knew from all of her mother's crises that Celeste had trouble eating when stressed. "Her blood sugar is probably low." he answers.
They get a glucometer and sure enough that is the problem. "Someone go grab a regular soda." Dr. Amann orders, as he opens a pack of smelling salts and holds it under Celeste's nose.
The match is over and the Shield rush backstage. Roman firmly pulls Seth back to keep him from bursting into the room. The three men enter calmly. "How's she doing?" Roman asks.
Just then, Celeste startles and swats at Dr. Amann's hand. She blinks her eyes and apologizes. "Sorry."
"It's alright." Dr. Amann replies. Just then someone returns with a Dr. Pepper from catering. "You just need to drink this and get something to eat."
"I'll take care of her." John says. He turns to the Shield. "You guys can go shower. She'll be fine."
The Shield look at Celeste for a response. "It's okay. I'll be fine as soon as I eat."
As Celeste nibbles on her chicken wrap, John fidgets. "I've gotta get ready for my match. So we'll talk when we get to the hotel." He dreads the conversation, but knows it must happen.
Celeste nods. "Okay." she replies softly.
It's late at night and neither one of us is sleeping
I can't imagine living my life after you're gone
Wondering why so many questions have no answers
I keep on searching for the reason why we went wrong
Celeste knocks on the door of John's suite and he answers. "Hey." he whispers.
"Hey." she replies, entering the room.
John's heart pounds in his chest.
Where is our yesterday
You and I could use it right now
But if this is goodbye
"I've thought a lot the last few days." Celeste says. "I've finally been honest with myself, so it's time to be honest with you."
Just take my heart when you go
I don't have the need for it anymore
I'll always love you, but you're hard to hold
Just take my heart when you go
"This isn't just about having kids is it?" John asks, walking over to a chair.
Celeste sits in the opposite chair. "No. But that was definitely the straw that broke the camel's back." She takes a deep breath. "You know I tried really hard not to let anything but friendship happen between us."
John chuckles. "I was a goner when I first saw you."
"I wasn't." she responds. "It wasn't really until I almost lost my mom and you came to the rescue."
John begins to feel a bit angry. "Are saying that I took advantage of you? Swooped in when you were vulnerable?"
"I don't think you did intentionally." Celeste answers. "I think you really meant to love me. And I know you do in your own way." She thoughtfully chews her bottom lip.
Here we are about to take the final step now
I just can't fool myself, I know there's no turning back
Face to face it's been endless conversation
But when the love is gone you're left with nothing but talk
John glares at her. "Don't you try to tell me that you never loved me. I know that's not true."
"I did." she defends. "I do, but it's not the way a wife should love a husband."
John looks at the floor, fighting tears.
"I'm so sorry." Celeste says. "If I could go back and…"
He puts his hand up. "Don't!" He looks up into her eyes. "Don't try to wish us away. I got no regrets. Other than that I can't be the man that you want."
I'd give my everything
If only I could turn you around
But if this is goodbye
Celeste slides off her ring. "I don't know what else to say."
"Neither do I." John says.
"I will call Pastor Mac and tell him the wedding is off. But more counseling sessions are probably on." She adds the last part with a chuckle, causing John to laugh too.
They stand and John pulls her close. "I just want you to be happy." he says.
"I know. I want the same for you." she says. She hands him the ring. "I will always be grateful for everything you've done for me." She turns to walk away.
"Wait." John gently places his lips to hers for a short moment. "I just had to do that one last time." She smiles and exits the room.
Just take my heart when you go
I don't have the need for it anymore
I'll always love you but you're hard to hold
Just take my heart when you go
The elevator doors open and Celeste sees Roman. "Hey Tiny." he says softly. He can see she's on the verge of tears and reaches out with a hug. "What's wrong?"
'I just…um…" She raises her hand to show that her engagement ring is gone."
It takes him a moment to process. "You…you broke up with John?"
"Yeah." she answers.
"Sorry. Wanna talk about it?" he asks.
"Not right now." Celeste says as the elevator lands on their floor. "But if you get a chance to tell Seth and Dean before I do, it's okay. I'm gonna go, hopefully sleep." She steps off the elevator.
"Yeah, try to get some rest." Roman says.
Roman enters his and Seth's room.
"Hey." Seth says, noticing the stunned look on his brother's face. "What's wrong?"
Roman sits on his bed and looks Seth in the eyes. "I guess you got your shot." he states.
"What are you talking about?" Seth inquires, confused.
"Celeste just ended things with John." Roman responds.
"What?! Are you serious?!" Seth is stunned by what he's hearing
"Yeah. I just talked to her in the elevator." Roman insists.
""How is she?" Seth asks.
"She's upset, but didn't really wanna talk about it yet."
Seth laid back on the bed and rubbed his head. He was feeling a mix of emotions. Relief that he might have a chance with the woman he loved, yet sadness for her own heartache.
Celeste sits in the dining hall of the hotel, eating a bite of breakfast.
"Morning Mom." Dean says, sitting across from her.
Even though she knew he was picking on her, it still brought a smile to her face. "Told you, you didn't have to call me that." she says.
"I'm just glad I don't have to call John 'Dad'." Deans replies. "You know you did the right thing?"
"I know. The problem I'm having is ever letting it all happen in the first place. John told me to not wish us away, but I can't help it." she explains.
"Just chalk it up to life lessons." Dean advises.
"You don't get it." she snaps. "I'm a hypocrite. How could I buy that book for John, offer it to you, then give it to Seth?" She pause, then sighs. "Obviously I didn't seek God."
"Star, you're not a bad person." Dean insists. "I've been around enough bad people…and done enough bad things to know."
Celeste maternal feelings begin to stir again. "I know you've had a rough life. And I may or may not want to know a lot of details, but whatever you've done or been through can be overcome."
Dean smirks. "So why are you sitting here depressed?"
Celeste chuckles. "Because unfortunately overcoming doesn't happen as quickly as we'd like."
Dean sees Seth and Roman enter the room.
Celeste follows his gaze. "Aren't you going to tell me how I'm supposed to be Seth?"
"Nah. I think you'll figure it out on your own soon enough." he answers.
She laughs. Seth and Roman join them at the table.
Seth offers a faint smile to Celeste. "Hey Sparky." he says softly.
"Hey." she answers.
"I'm sorry about you and John." he proclaims.
Roman raises and eyebrow at the remark.
Dean thinks to himself, No you're not!
"Thanks." Celeste replies. She takes a deep breath. "I messed up by letting him come to my rescue when I was stressed over my mom's health troubles. Instead of making sure he was the right man for me, I just tried to pray him into being the right man. I need to focus on becoming strong in the Lord, so I can be ready when the right man does come."
Seth thinks to himself, I doubt you think I'm the right man yet if you gave me that book. Great, the woman I love is single, but still not available. What am I gonna do?
