Griffin's former Sith Master just won't let him go, without a struggle.
Flushing out Griffin
The Sith Empire fired off the first shots of war, by orders of Darth Odysseus. However, the ruler of the Sith only sent the order, due to the betrayal of Darth Terecept, Odysseus's former apprentice. Though the rest of the Sith, save the Dark Council, did not know of his true motive. Odysseus believed Griffin could be brought back to the Dark Side, with the right shove in that direction. A plan would be needed, however, as Griffin's mind was more than likely strong enough to resist the methods Odysseus used, the first time around. They needed the right move to employ, to bring Griffin's anger, and hatred to boil to the surface. Then, Odysseus could bend the young Jedi to his will, and Terecept would be reborn. It could take years, but Odysseus was determined to see the Sith Empire he loved so much, rule the galaxy, even if it cost him his own life.
Fully aware of Dark Council member, Darth Baras's spy network, he ordered Baras to have his spies within Republic intelligence networks, on Corusacnt, and in the Jedi Order itself, to find whatever information they could, and report it all to Odysseus. The war went on for three months, during which, the spy network learned of the names, and descriptions of Griffin's four best friends, as well as what their ship was called, and looked like. Since the four friends were Jedi Knights, it was decided it would be best if they were left alone.
Another lead was Griffin's brothers, Darius and Justin Walker. Learning of their story, and what Griffin did for them, for three years, from the Jedi, Odysseus learned that the two both serve in the Republic military, with Justin being special forces, and Darius being a part of the SIS agency. Knowing that their active service roles would likely make them difficult to track down, Odysseus chose to ignore them.
Odysseus then learned possibly his best lead. Years before the Battle of Korriban, Griffin was allowed to marry a woman named Cariana. Cariana and Griffin lived in a simple apartment complex, on Coruscant, and had two children. Odysseus had a new spy sent to Coruscant, undercover as a simple bartender, and had him move in to the same complex Griffin and his family lived in. The day after the spy moved in, since he had to work at night, while Griffin was at the Jedi Temple, as was Jeff, who himself was a Jedi youngling, Cariana was at work, and Sandie was at daycare, the spy picked the lock of Griffin's front door, and planted listening devices in every room. The spy would then spend the next four months listening to conversations in the apartment by day, and going to work at night. Then, he found what he was looking for. He heard the news that Griffin's father-in-law was dying, and that Cariana was planning on returning to their homeworld, of Corellia, to bring him to Coruscant. She wanted his last year to be spent with his grandchildren. Griffin had told her to be careful, and to call him if the Sith invaded Corellia. She said that she would. That was all the information the spy needed. He forwarded the information to Darth Odysseus, on Dromund Kaas. Odysseus ordered the spy to plant a tracker on Cariana, on her way out.
Finally finding the opportunity he had been desperately searching for, Odysseus told Dark Council Member Darth Decimus, and his apprentice Darth Charnus, to take a fleet, and launch a full-scale invasion of Corellia. He also told Darth Baras to prepare Lord Draahg, to launch both a counterstrike, and a measure of revenge on Griffin, by following his wife's signal, and killing her. Darth Odysseus did not care if Darth Baras had any objections to his plan. His plan being to have Lord Draahg's death be at Griffin's hands, and that being the catalyst to Darth Terecept's rebirth.
Five months into The New Sith War, on Corellia...
The transport shuttle touched down in CoroNet City, and Cariana disembarked the ship, heading to her childhood home. With her father being her surviving parent, she wanted him to be close to her, as she knew this would likely be the last year of his life. Renting a speeder, she drove off to home, a simple house, located on a street full of them, and parked up. Her father had been living on retirement funds, for the past fifteen years, and lived a simple day-to-day life, until this year. He wasn't able to do much, so the neighbors often helped him around the house. She had already convince her father to sell the house, and it's new owners would move in, after he had left. First, she wanted to spend a little time with him, and her childhood home, knowing full well this would be the last time she saw it. She knocked on the front door, and waited for her father to answer. "Hi dad." She said.
"Hey baby." Her father answered. They hugged. "Come on in."
She stepped into the house, and her father closed the door behind her. She helped him to the couch, and they sat down.
"How's Griffin?" He asked.
"Somewhat distressed by the war."
"How's he holding up, with his past?"
"He can't completely forget it, but he has moved on nicely. He's mainly just happy to be a Jedi again, and proud to meet his son, and be his daughter's father."
"How's your marriage?"
"We've easily made up for lost time. I'm so happy to have him back. He's still the man I love. But so are you. How are you feeling, dad?"
"I wish I could say like a million credits, but that would be a lie." He had to stop coughing, to let out some hard coughs, leaving him short on breath. "It's hard living alone, even though it's only been for a year. You're mothers death has been one of the hardest things I've ever gone through. Harder then even this dammed illness."
"It was hard for me too, dad. Especially since I was lightyears away. I don't want that to happen. I want to be able to tell you in person, that you don't need to fight anymore. And I want you to be able to spend some time with you're grandchildren, before you go."
"Well, help me get all my things loaded up, and we'll head out."
Just then a holomessage was sent out. "WARNING: CITIZENS OF CORONET, MARSHALL LAW IS IN EFFECT. PLEASE STAY IN YOUR HOMES, AND LOCK YOUR DOORS. THE SITH HAVE INVADED. REPEAT, THE SITH HAVE INVADED."
"Oh no." Cariana says, as she runs to the house's holocommunicator. Explosions could be heard coming from the directions of the city, and a sudden shuttle crash could be heard very close by, outside. She dialed her husband's number into the machine, and as she hits the call button, the power goes out. She then hears a lightsaber power on, and pierce through the door.
Five minutes earlier...
Having been given orders from his master through text, Lord Draahg piloted his starfighter, behind the bombers, and gunships, as they made their runs through the city. With his starfighter being escorted by a gunship, Draahg waited for the right moment to land, and touched down on the street, where he was getting the signal from. He then aided his allies, by using the Force to cause a Republic Gunship to crash to the ground, and go up in flames. He continued to his target's door, then switched on his lightsaber, to carve an entryway.
When the Sith entered the house, Cariana's father, a retired CorSec officer, took his blaster pistol, from the coffee table, and shot at the Sith. But the old man's illness, made some of the shots miss, and the rest were deflected by Lord Draahg's lightsaber. Draahg began to make a slow walk forward, and then chopped the blaster in half, and drove his lightsaber through the old man's heart, killing him. "NO, DADDY!" Cariana screamed, as she began to cry.
"Worry not," Lord Draahg started. "For now it is your turn to join him."
I feel like, after that last little detail, and possibly after this hole chapter in general, I need to clear this up. The real Cariana died in a car crash, last month. It's why I've been struggling to keep up with updating this story in a timely manner, because I've been struggling with the death of the mother of my child. I apologize for that. And in fact, many of these chapters will be told, in an adaptation of my experiences and struggles, with what I am currently going through.
