I don't ever name people, but after my last message, someone sent me some sympathy. I thank you my friend.
Human First, Jedi Second
With the aid of CorSec, the Republic was able to keep half of Corellia under it's control, and were able to call for reinforcements. A Republic fleet dropped out of hyperspace, to intercept the Sith. Corellia was nothing short of a complete warzone, with Republic and Imperial forces doing everything possible to gain ground. So focused on the war, it took until the next day for news of a Corellian invasion to hit the Holonet.
On Coruscant...
It was late at night. Griffin had put both of his children to sleep, and was now watching the news. There's a report on the Black Sun Gang, on Coruscant. There was something about the Exchange gaining territory from the Hutts, on Nar Shadda. There was a casualty report, from a Sith bombing, on Commoner. It was all news reports that were distressing to Griffin. "Forget Nar Shadda. Can't the Republic get at least a thousand years of peace?" He asked to himself. Then, he saw a report that caused him to go still. His homeworld had come under Sith Occupation, and that Republic response had turned the planet into an all-out warzone. He shut off the news, got up, and sent out a call. He called a mutual friend of his, and Revan's, Republic Admiral Carth Onasi.
'Hey Griffin," Carth greeted they young Jedi. "Everything alright?"
"Admiral, my wife is away from home, and I need to make a trip. Are you able to watch my kids while I'm gone?"
"For now, I won't be for very long. Are you on a mission?"
"Personal mission."
"In that case, I won't ask any more details. I'll head to your apartment, and watch your kids for you."
"Thanks Admiral." The call was cut. Griffin left a written note, for his son to read to his daughter. He then switched on his droid. "Sorry to cut your nap short CID, but we need to head to Corellia."
"Query: Is your spouse in trouble, Master?"
"I'm afraid she might be."
"Statement: Let's go to your homeworld, right away!"
The Jedi waited for the Admiral to arrive, then headed to his ship. His ship was located in the Jedi Temple, right next to the Ebon Hawk, and the Snowblind, the ship that he used to co-own with his best friends, who were all waiting for him outside his ship. "What are you guys doing here?" Griffin asked him.
"We heard about Corellia." Nimas stated.
"Guys, I have to-"
"Griffin, stop." Caros started. "We don't care what you say, we're not letting you do this alone. Whatever trouble Cariana's in, we'll help you rescue her, no matter what."
Griffin nodded his head. "Alright. My ship, or yours?"
"We went on your ship, when Revan sent us all to Rishi, on that rescue mission. Let's go on the Snowblind." Matilin said.
"Alright. Let's go. Come on CID." The five Jedi, and the droid boarded the ship, fired up the engines, and left the Jedi Temple. As they took the ship into hyperspace, the Jedi, and droid planned, before arriving at Corellia.
They put up a holographic map of CoroNet City, in the main hub. "Why did she come here, in the first place?" Raymond asked.
"Her father is sick, more than likely on the last year of his life." Griffin answered. "She wanted to bring her to Coruscant, so he could spend time with his grandkids. She also wanted to be there, to tell him that he doesn't have to fight anymore."
"Maybe we should let Corellia know we're coming." Nimas stated.
"No, because then they'd expect us to do whole missions for them. I want to just find Cariana, and get out."
"Where is she, any way?" Matilin asked.
Griffin walked up to the holo image, and zoomed in on the smaller residential area. "In a house, somewhere by these streets." He then paused for a moment, to check the holographic image of a crashed shuttle. He didn't like the situation one bit.
"What do you guys think about this plan?" Caros started. "Five of us go in, while the best pilot among us, flies the ship, and waits for us to get an extraction point. Might take a couple days, but the plane makes sense to me."
"I agree with that." Nimas stated.
"Sounds solid enough to me." Raymond added.
"Sound like a plan." Griffin concluded. They finished the final details on their plan, where Griffin, Nimas, CID, Caros, and Matilin would be on the ground, and Raymond would keep the ship in the air, while the five searched for Cariana. Unfortunately for them, the safest drop off point, would mean they would have to be thrown into the fire, less then a minute after setting their feet on the ground. Having their lightsabers, and in CID's case, Blaster Rifle out, they continually blasted, and slashed their way through Sith Forces, until reaching a Republic Command Post. The group found a Republic Commander, to explain their situation.
"Jedi!" The commanding officer greeted. "Please tell me you were sent here to help."
"Sorry commander, but we're here on a rescue mission." Matilin stated.
"Well it's alright. We can hold out. Anyway we could help you out?"
"We need to get to the residential streets, in CoroNet City." Caros answered.
"We can get you all a speeder, but there's enemy troops as far as the eye can see there."
"It's alright," Griffin started. "I know a quiet spot for us to park a speeder."
"Listen, Jedi, if there's anything you all can do in CoroNet, it'd be greatly appreciated, no matter how small it is."
"I'm afraid the most we'll be able to do, is thin their numbers out a bit." Nimas said.
"That'll do." The commander said, as he pointed the team to their speeder. The team jumped onto their speeder, and took off, with Griffin at the helm. After a fifteen minute long trip, Griffin parked up in the front yard of his old Corellian home. Powering down the speeder, not one member of the group spoke a word on their way to the residential area. They simply kept their lightsabers turned on, with CID switching to a full blown assault blaster cannon. They broke through every ambush, defeated every Sith pinning down Republic forces, and even struck the critical points of every tank sent in by the Sith. Determined as ever, nothing could stand in Griffin's way, especially with the backing of his friends. The entire team swept throughout each area of the battlefield, like a hurricane, almost completely unseen by Republic and Sith troops alike. Nothing could slow them down. But no matter how fast they moved, nothing could kill Griffin's anxiousness to get to his wife. Finally making it to the street of his Father-in-law, Griffin let out a sigh, and calmed his nerves.
His team made a slow walk, to help catch their breathes, as they had been fighting through hell for half an hour. Just as Griffin suspected, the shuttle that appeared in the holographic image of this area, was in fact crashed in this street. He didn't like this one bit. He hoped he would find his wife, and father-in-law, holding each other, and waiting for something to get them out of there. But, he believed that there was a possibility, that they were either evacuated by the Republic, or kidnapped by the Sith. "Query: What is your plan, Master?" CID asked.
"Simple," Griffin started. "If she's here, we call for pick up. If she's not, we find out if the Republic has rescued her. If not, we search for some kind of clue, then we start searching from there." They walked up to the front door, and all five pulled out their weapons, and switched them on, when they saw the door was cut through, with a lightsaber. "Wait till I bring you guys in." Griffin stepped through the cut through path on the door. The first thing he saw, the corpse of his father-in-law. "Oh Force. Gerald." He tuned up his senses, and couldn't sense any Force-sensatives, so he switched his green saber off. "Guys, it's safe, come in." The rest of the Jedi switched off their lightsabers, and stepped through the door.
"Is this your father-in-law?" Nimas asked.
"Yes. This was Gerald Reygor." Griffin had a good relationship with his father-in-law, and knew from Cariana that Gerald loved Griffin. Griffin then stepped forward, and shut Gerald's still open eyes. "Rest in Peace, old man." He then turned to his team. "Search the house. Try to find out what happened here." The five then headed to the different areas of the house. Griffin headed to the dining room, and saw some sort of comlink on the table. He pushed it on, then saw someone who tried to be his assassin, Lord Draahg.
"Hello Griffin Walker." The Sith started. I'm glad you've found my message. Months ago, you embarrassed me more than anyone has ever, by allowing me to live, instead of killing me, when you had the chance. Now, you should know that since that moment, nothing means more to me, than killing you. I do not care how much time it takes, but you will die by my blade. Until that moment, I'm going to strike blow after blow at you, until you break. For now, they shall be mental, and psychological blows. But sooner rather than later, it will be physical. My face will be the last you see, before you die!" The message was cut.
Griffin walked around the table, and in shock, Forced the table, and chairs through the window. Cariana was behind the table, lying on the ground, dying. No visible wounds were on her, but from how her body was writhing in pain. Griffin could sense that Draahg had tortured her, internally, before he left, just enough for her to survive. But if he didn't do something soon, she would die. He got down onto his knees and cradled her in his arms. "B-Baby, baby, hold on. You're gonna be alright. I'm gonna get you back to the Snowblind, we'll get you to the medbay."
She didn't say anything. She just slowly, with twitches, raised herself up, and pushed her lips to his. When they broke, she whispered to him. "I'm glad I got to do that... o-one last ti-time." With one last breath, she slowly became more, and more limp. Then, she was gone. And tears were instantly sliding down Griffin's face. She cuddled her closer to him, placing his chin on her head. and sitting in a corner. At that moment, Griffin realized something. He wasn't thinking about Draahg. He wasn't thinking about his family. He wasn't thinking about his friends, even as they walked into the room, and spoke to him. He wasn't thinking about how he was a Jedi, and was "supposed" to be above such outbursts of emotion. All he was thinking about, was how the woman that he loved was no longer with him. Griffin realized at that moment, that no matter what anyone else said, he was a human first, and a Jedi second.
It's the same thing I was thinking, in the real world. I don't know when the next chapter of this story will be up. I may brake off, and update this other story I got. I may take time away from this all, to get my head on straight. I don't know yet. In case you don't hear from me, in a while, I'm gonna say goodbye, for now.
