I like this. Writing short little chapters for awhile till I get back into the wing of writing full lengthy chapters. So. here it is.
Read and review makes me happy..
:D
She bit her lip, suck in her lips-anything to prevent the tears that threaten to stream down her milky smooth skin.
This can't be happening to her.
Being abandoned by the person you thought you could trust-a person who promised you, would never leave you? The betrayal Rukia once felt, resurfaced once more as she recluses herself back into the state of being nothing more than an empty shell.
Why?
Well, she has to be the upbeat person everyone looks to when things don't turn out how they wanted. She has to attain, maintain, or recover optimal health and quality of life for those who felt the same pain- Kiyomi is the main person Rukia would never disappoint.
Taking a deep gulp or air, Rukia lets out a quiet huff that couldn't be heard on the phone. She won't let her weakness show as she quietly asks him, "Renji, do you remember what you promised me?"
The phone we silent, just as Rukia thought. Renji did think about this, but he thought Rukia would know how to react to situations like this. After all the events and emotions Rukia went through after Ichigo left her? Renji thought this is nothing compared to what Ichigo did.
Ichigo sent a post card.
Renji?
Renji is "different."
Renji called Rukia.
Renji spoke to Rukia about his sudden prestige offer to work in Great Britain and Rukia knew. She knew from the tone of Renji's voice he wanted her to give him the permission to go. To go with him and leave everything she built as the Head Nurse in the pediatrics ICU or terminate the short-lived relationship they intimately shared like last weeks trash.
"Rukia?" There was a mixture of eagerness and wavering in Renji's voice and Rukia noticed that. It's just, Rukia wasn't sure what to say about this current situation.
Sure, she poured nothing but love and care into the relationship, but then again. Rukia should have known better than to do that. She has been pained and betrayed before, so she should have seen this coming.
Right?
Nothing but silence linger between them on the phone line. It was quiet and Renji didn't know what to say or think of at the moment-after all, this is a big transition and proposition for him and Rukia.
Though, the difference is, who is going to spiral down into in the deep pits of regret?
Renji or Rukia?
"Do what you think is right." Her voice was shaken yet firm.
Yes, she wants Renji to do what's best for him, and she knows Renji is trying to keep their relationship alive by offering her to go with him and leave behind everything in Kyoto Japan. But Rukia can't just uproot everything she has here, not when Kiyomi has happily settled in. Renji knows that much.
But what Renji doesn't understand is the feeling of being abandoned. He doesn't know how it feels to be abandoned. How it feels to think they are the main cause of despair. To think if they were a better boyfriend/girlfriend the relationship would have lasted. To think they were never worthy of love.
An exasperated sigh was heard from the other phone line Rukia was listening to. Renji doesn't want to hurt Rukia, but he already has. Rukia knew Renji wants to go and has no intention of staying in Kyoto Japan because, if he didn't want to go, he wouldn't have brought this up and this conversation wouldn't exist- yet it does.
"Rukia, you know I REALLY care for you and I want to be with you. But." Renji's abrupt pause struck Rukia. She dreaded that one word.
But.
Is Renji giving Rukia a ultimantum? Another way to tell Rukia it's off if she doesn't go with him?
"But what Renji?" Rukia's voice slightly cracked. "Please don't tell me I have to-"
"Choose." Renji breathlessy finished.
It has all come down to this.
Stay in Kyoto and recluse back into a empty shell while Kiyomi worries about her, or Renji over her everything she built with Kiyomi in Kyoto?
A quiet mufled sigh was released once Rukia softly repeated, "Do what you think is right."
Silence.
Just as Rukia expected. Renji thought this through, he's going Great Britan whether Rukia goes with him or not because this is his chance. A one in a life time chance-that might aswell be Rukia's demise.
With a forced smile and cherry up beat voice, Rukia manages to pull off a "Nurse Kuchiki" as she "happily" peps, "I'll be fine. You go on and have fun now okay?"
Silence.
The silence by now Rukia has grown accustom to lingered longer than she expected. Was Renji actually considering to turn down his chance to work in Great Britain? Did Renji actually figured out how this badly this affects Rukia?
Rukia's crushed heart started to optimistically revive itself as she opens her mouth, but the moment Rukia opens her mouth was the moment Renji utters the eneviatable, "Thanks for understanding Rukia."
