Walking past the her current irritation, Rin made her way to the small sofa in the corner of her small living room, and sat down with an audible "Plop!". As Inuyasha cautiously stepped into the room, casting a weary eye around the tiny space as if expecting something to jump out and attack him; Rin resisted the urge to roll her eyes. Crossing her arms and leaning into the couch, the suddenly very tired woman let out a sigh, drawing the mans attention. Scowling when he saw that she wasn't even paying attention-she actually cast her eyes down to idly play with her shirt when he looked at her-Inuyasha grumbled impatiently.
The two suddenly locked eyes, both narrowing in distrust. Before Rin could open her mouth to let out an insulting quip, the short male harshly asked, "Are you fucking my brother?" Now it was her turn to scowl. How dare he accuse her of something like that? Well, you did fuck him, her inner voicereasoned, causing a barrage of memories to flood back and a sudden rush of heat touched her cheeks. Though, her face must have voiced disgust instead of guilt, because he let out a rush of breath, looking away from her. "Look, I just know Sango is all for that type of bullshit," he ranted, running a strong hand through his loose hair. "she likes to think we don't know what she's doing with Miroku, but we do. Not many of us approve, but it's been working out with him. But," he paused, looking back at her and seeing that she was hiding her face in the curtain of her thick hair. "my brother isn't some softhearted fool with a pervert streak."
Rin blinked up in surprised at the sudden bitterness of his tone, seeing his eyes burning with an intense emotion, making him look even more like his brother. "My brother is dangerous," he took a slow step closer to her, as if approaching a wild animal. "if you get involved with him, you could end up like that family of his." The tone of his voice was low, each word rounded and slow as though conveying something very important to her. Rin suddenly straightened when she realized what he was saying; he was warning her, without directly telling her what he's warning her about. "He's doing a lot..." his face scrunched up, and admitted reluctantly, "better, with you, but if I were you runt, I'd ask to be assigned to someone more in your league."
The young nurse suddenly felt ill, letting a shaky hand rub at her soft throat, and allowing her eyes to fall back to the clean floor. Should she trust what he was saying? Perhaps he just didn't want her to come to any harm? But the way he was warning her was as if it weren't his brother that was the danger. That thought suddenly rang clear in her mind, echoing as she snapped her eyes up to his in shock. Her voice was at an unnecessary whisper, "Sesshomaru wasn't the one who killed them, was he?" Inuyasha's eyes were solemn, and while he didn't break eye contact, he did not answer her question. Rin suddenly felt the itch to jump up, get into her car, and drive down to the hospital to make sure the large man was okay. "If-if he wasn't the one that killed his mother and aunts, then who?" the odd crack to her voice really showed how worried she was. Her tone nearly never wavered, no matter what she was faced with.
Giving his head a weary shake, shoving his hands into the pockets of his hoodies, and turning his back to her, Inuyasha took a few moments before answering. "My brother is my half brother, if you didn't already know," Lifting his face to peer at the ceiling blankly, he continued. "We're related because of our father who passed away a while ago. Sesshomaru is the eldest, so he inherited mostly everything: our dads business, the family home, everything other than my small place. Our family goes back pretty far, so you know, our fortune built up." He sighed, letting his chin fall to rest on his chest. "Not everyone is happy with that." Stopping to look at her over his shoulder, he noted how pale the young woman looked. "Hey, that's as much as I can tell you about it, it's not really my business to tell. If Sesshomaru ends up trusting you enough to tell you the whole story, then great, but take my warning and be happy with what little I'm telling you."
Turning completely this time, the tense man walked to the door and left, locking the bottom lock before shutting the door firmly. Rin sat there in silence, mulling over what she just learned.
A/N Well, here's some more to this mess! I'm going to be answering a few of the more recent reviews on this chapter, and the ones to come. So if you have questions, feel free to ask!
LovelyClau: I'm glad you love it! And I honestly don't know why I dislike this fic so much either, haha. I guess I just can't get myself into it, but I'm trying!
Taraah36: Ah, I'm sorry! In my story, they're all human! Sesshomaru of course, is just a very impressive one, haha.
