There are three quick knocks in rapid succession and the door swings open so quickly it hits Gale. He groans, rubbing his forehead, as Madge pulls him into her room. The door clicks shut quickly behind him and she frowns reaching up to rub his forehead.

"Sorry," she whispers. Madge stretches herself on her tiptoes to examine where she's hit him with her door. "I was nervous someone would be watching, I just—"

"S'okay, Madge," he chuckles. Gale leans down and kisses her quickly to show that the headache he has stemming isn't a big deal. "Don't worry about it." A little bump on the head is nothing compared to what he had to endure to get here. Boys in the girl dormitories are strictly forbidden. The building they live in is complicated. Each floor is alternating boy/girl/boy/girl and everyone is allowed in everyone's common rooms, but back in the dorms there are some serious consequences if you're caught where you're not supposed to be. He had to get Thom to distract the people on duty just so he could get here which involved a very elaborate scheme with whipped cream and scissors down the back stairwell. "Hi," he finally says.

She smiles, brushing his cheek. "Hi to you too," she says. Madge pulls Gale into her room and away from the door.

"Katniss is supposed to be gone all weekend?" Gale asks, glancing toward the bed where his childhood best friend sleeps.

"That's what she told me," Madge nods. Katniss and Madge are roommates which makes this so much more complicated. Gale has to sneak in when Katniss goes to the library or out to class for a few hours and it's exhausting. "It's her and Peeta's anniversary," Madge continues, easing onto her bed. She stares at Gale who is uncomfortably glancing toward where Katniss sleeps. "Gale." He looks over at her quickly and a soft smile lights up his face. "What's wrong?"

"Nothing." He quickly crosses to Madge's bed and pulls her to lie down next to him. The beds in the dorms are so tiny she's forced to curl into him, her warm body perfectly fitting to his. "Just thinking," he continues. Gale distracts himself by curling his fingers through her hair. "I just think that sneaking from the heads of the building is tiring enough, we shouldn't have to keep sneaking around Katniss too."

"You're the one that wanted to," Madge reminds him. She rolls in his grasp so she can face him, propping herself up on her elbow so she can look down at him. "I've told you again and again that she won't mind."

"I know," he murmurs. It's just so complicated. In his head Gale envisioned himself going to college and hooking up with girl after girl, sweeping them off their feet and then leaving him in the dust. It was lonely but made him feel powerful, it made him feel important to have people wanting or missing or needing him, and that's how he spent the first half of the school year.

But then there was Madge. She was from his hometown but they had never exactly gotten along. After spending so much time in Katniss' dorm trying to get her to go to this party or that party with him he couldn't help but fall for the blonde across the room. She would be just as sarcastic to him as he was to her, and she always had candles burning that made the room smell like Christmastime. Sometimes Gale would come down when Katniss was out and he and Madge would end up talking until she got back, but the second their friend was in the room it was straight back to snippy comments.

Gale fell for her hard and fast, seeing Madge blossom outside of the crummy town they grew up in was incredible and breathtaking. She was beautiful in every sense of the word, everything he had wanted in a girl. He found himself skipping parties for study dates with the two roommates instead, no longer slipping into the beds of girls he didn't know because he didn't feel the need to anymore. His insecurities about an actual relationship stemmed from a few snide comments from Katniss right in a row. I see how you look at Madge, Gale, Katniss had said. She's not just going to be another one of your one night stands. She's better than that.

So he started thinking that he couldn't have Madge, or if he could Katniss would never approve. But then one night Gale started drunk texting Madge about how badly he wanted to kiss her and she responded calling him a drunken fool but in the mornings would promise she didn't mind and that it was even cute to receive messages like that, he knew he wouldn't hold out on staying away from her.

"Hey," Madge reaches forward and brushes his dark bangs from his forehead. "You're not that guy from the beginning of the school year," she whispers. Madge knows how he used to go around. He was good at sneaking into female dorms long before he was with Madge, it's not even a secret. "Whether Katniss believes that or not shouldn't matter."

"You're right," he breathes. As long as Madge believes it he'll be okay. "You're right," he repeats. "No more sneaking. Promise. We'll tell Katniss when she gets back."

Madge smiles sweetly. "Are you sure?"

"Positive," Gale nods. Madge leans down and presses her lips to his, her free hand gently sliding over his cheek. "You're my girl," he murmurs, tugging her closer. "I want everyone at this damn school to know."

"Except maybe the heads," Madge whispers against his lips. "Then they'll be more suspicious."

"Mmm," he chuckles, rolling so she's below him now. His mouth grazes her jaw and travels up to her ear. "I guess we won't really be able to stop sneaking around, hm? Can't end up getting caught in here, that would ruin everything."

His hands slide down her sides as he nibbles her earlobe. She lets out a quiet moan that causes him to snicker. Gale lifts his head so he can kiss her again, really kiss her. His lips dance with hers as they both tug each other closer, fistfuls of fabric being pulled in every direction. When she lifts the hem of his shirt Gale doesn't hesitate to toss it on the ground. Madge teases her hands up his chest and Gale sighs, quickly dipping down to kiss her again. His tongue slides across her bottom lip and she arches into his form.

Gale's hands slide under her shirt and across her spine. Just as he goes to ease the inconvenient piece of fabric over her head the door slams open.

"Did you know that there's a winter storm warning?" Katniss mutters as she hurries into the room, shaking off her jacket. "Peeta and I barely finished our meal before they were shooing us out of the restaurant because—" she pauses at the sight of her friends tangled together in bed. They haven't even tried to cover up what they're doing, Gale's hands only just now removing themselves from Madge's shirt, and the blonde with her hair entirely too messy. Katniss frowns. "You've got to be kidding me," she grumbles.

"Katniss—" Madge starts. Gale sits up, his eyes wide and guilty. "I didn't think you'd be home until Sunday?"

The brunette crosses her arms over her chest. "Well it looks like we're about to get snowed in. So you two have a lot of explaining to do."

A/N: It's gadge week! Hopefully I can keep up with it. Today was "sneaking or snares" and I chose sneaking. c:
