Joy And Wonder

There were many times in James' life when he considered himself happy.

When he was a child, he had many memories of collecting fruits with his mother, and building his tree house with his father.

At Hogwarts, when he met Sirius, and Remus, and Peter.

The pranks.

The first day he met his Lily. The second day he met his Lily. The third day he met his Lily…

The day she finally said yes to him.

The day she gave him her second yes, when he slipped a diamond ring on her finger.

The day they said I do.

He had so many happy memories, and yet he didn't think he'd ever been as happy as he was at this moment in time. He'd never felt so full of joy and wonder that he might actually explode with it because he didn't believe his body was large enough to hold it all.

A little hand wrapped around his finger. A yawn stretched a tiny mouth.

James' son was quite possibly the most wondrous sight in the world anyone had ever seen, at least, in James' opinion.

"You okay?"

He looked up, his heart melting at his Lily blinking sleepily at him, her eyes moving between him and their son.

"I'm absolutely perfect," he confirmed, leaning over to press his lips to hers. "And you are the most wonderful woman in the world."

She reached up to lay her hand against his cheek. "Hmm. I think I'll keep you as well."

He grinned. "I love you."

"I love you too."
