Welcome Back Home

Harry stared up at the castle, a place he'd called home once upon a time, and his heart beat faster. When the owl had come about the reopening, he hadn't been sure he could handle a return to the place where he'd lost so much, and yet gained a freedom he'd never known.

The sun up high in the sky, shining down over the lake where Harry, Ron and Hermione had spent many an afternoon when they were younger.

Everything had seemed easier then.

He'd grown up a lot in the castle, but perhaps more so outside of it's protective walls, but as he stared up at it, he felt a sense of warmth fill him up.

A sense of rightness.

A sense of home.

Minerva walked towards him, a small smile on her face that grew bigger when he hugged her as soon as she was in reaching distance.

"Severus is awaiting you in his office," she told him, walking along beside him. "As is Albus's portrait. He's quite tickled to know you're coming home."

Harry felt his lips tilt up in a smile. Even though the portrait of Albus was just that, a portrait, it was still almost like having the old man back. At least a little bit.

"Are you ready for this?" Minerva asked gently, when they reached the steps.

Harry squared his shoulders and nodded, his smile turning into a more natural grin.

Minerva seemed to relax a little and she nodded back. "Then welcome back to Hogwarts, Professor Potter."
