Chapter 23:

Ayva sat on a small patch of grass. Her eyes were closed in attempts to concentrate on her power swirling within her. Her father had been pretty adamant in her learning to reverse what she had accidentally done to Aluxia. The tingling sensation in her fingers let her know that the energy was surging throughout her body, which was a good sign.

Sidriel stood at a distance overlooking his daughter's progress. He was proud to say the least. The problem was that he was noticing a toll the pregnancy was taking on her. The baby was sucking her energy away fairly quickly. He assumed that was the demon part of the child; but he could be wrong, course that was what his oracle was for. Getting answers he wanted to know.

"How is she faring today, Sidriel?" A warm feminine voice said.

He turned his head to see the person he had been thinking about. Her long white gown dragged on the ground and her long brown hair was over her shoulders with a vine crown across the top of her head. Sidriel was thrilled to see his oracle arriving precisely when he needed her to. There were so many questions regarding Ayva's pregnancy and it concerned him more and more everyday. "Good timing as always, Vianna." He replied with a slight smile.

"Oh you were thinking of me were you?"

"I was...she is weakening. I was hoping you'd be able to tell me why."

Vianna shifted her gaze away from her angel lord to look at his Nephilim daughter. Wordlessly, she approached the young woman. Ayva perked at the sound of footsteps approaching and opened her eyes to see whom it was. A smile appeared on her face to second she realized who it was. It meant that she could get an update on her baby and that meant that in the evening she could dream-walk to see Finn. "Hello Vianna, how are you?" Ayva asked cheerfully all the while taking a deep breath of air.

"I'm doing well. Your father is concerned and has asked me to check you over today."

"Okay..."

Ayva didn't understand why her father was concerned. She felt fine other than being overly tired, which she heard was normal for a pregnant woman to feel. Vianna knelt down in front of her and held her hands out to touch each side of her face. Ayva felt the warm energy caress her skin and instantly closed her eyes to enjoy the massaging warmth.

Behind Vianna's eyes she could see the beating heart of the tiny growing infant. The pulse of light suddenly split into two pulsing lights. She continued to search the void for Ayva's signature energy and when she found it she saw the sheer bright light of her angel blood. Just as she moved to search it her body went stiff and was shoved out.

Sidriel moved to catch her in his arms just as Ayva's eyes went pure white. "What's happening?" He asked helping Vianna to her feet. Silence befell them for a few seconds, just watching the woman named to being a savior. Ayva clenched her hands into fists tightly, fingers twitching every couple of seconds before expelling a wave of power across the hills. The force of the blast caused trees to explode and grass to be singed black.

He stared at his daughter before moving to catch her before she fell. "I think we should talk somewhere more private." Vianna stated softly.

Sidriel carried his daughter to her favorite hillside and gently lay her down. Her angelic aura was chaotic, unbridled with wavering power that seemed out of control. He had seriously thought they were making progress. Had he been wrong all this time?

Clicking of heels could be heard in a long empty hallway. Brown curls bounced with every step. The sound of keys hitting each other echoed off the stone walls and then the sound of a lock snapping open joined in. "How are we feeling today?"

"Nova..." A week voice greeted from a large four poster bed.

"Oh dear...Aluxia you must rest. Do not sit up."

Ever since they found out her humanity was slowly returning, Aluxia had locked herself in her bedroom. She refused to face her subjects for fear of being lashed out against for being weak. Nova, the only person she trusted, now was tasked with the impossible. Reversing what had been done to her. Locating Rowana has also been taxing, and unsuccessful. "I'm fine. Any news of the witch?" Aluxia asked softly.

"No. She has most certainly hid herself well; but I did find out that the Nephilim has been taken by her father. She's no longer in the care of Finn."

"Hmmm. I wonder what those angels are up to..."

Nova sat down on the edge of the bed and began to stroke the soft black locks of the woman she considered a mother. It was hard to imagine her as a human and really didn't want to. She knew what the implications would be if the balance was tipped too far in either direction. "Of course...that's why he took her..." Nova whispered.

"Did you figure something out?" Aluxia asked.

"They took her to make her reverse what she did to you. They don't want the balance tipping any more than we do. It makes sense, does it not?"

It did. With her pending human status, her mind wasn't nearly as sharp as it used to be. It had only been a month and a half since the battle with the Nephilim woman; but it felt like yesterday her body took a shocking blow with foreign energy. She never imagined a tainted blood girl would have such power grace her veins. "Perhaps, you are correct. Sidriel would not risk this world to oblivion. However, time is running short. I can feel the humanity taking more control of me by the day." Aluxia replied, turning her body to lay back down on the large bed.

"What should I do?"

"Aid Finn...don't let this world tip any further. The Nephilim must reverse what she's done to me at all costs."

With that said, Aluxia closed her eyes and drifted back into slumber. Nova was shaking by the time she left the room. She curled her bottom lip inward to keep it from quivering. Two sets of eyes were immediately upon her the second she closed the door behind her. "What is the status of the queen?" A stern voice echoed the stone hallway.

"She rests, Adam. That Nephilim girl took a great deal out of her." Nova responded, crossing her arms over her chest.

"There is a lot of talk amongst the ranks. Has she been turning human?" The other man asked.

"That is quite absurd, Roderick. Don't you think?"

Adam and Roderick looked at each for a second before nodding their heads in agreement. Nova walked with them back towards the main room of the house. She had to keep her emotions in check or they would figure out that she had been lying to them. Aluxia would never forgive her if that happened.

Becky sat in her bedroom on the oversized bench that was right up against the window. She held her legs up against her chest and rested her chin on her knees. Her head was pounding and it was her own fault. Drinking had been a means to erase the emotions that were drowning her while sober.

Ayva was so much more than just a friend. She was family and it tore to pieces with her not there. It wasn't fair. Tears burned the corners of her eyes and proceeded to trickle down her cheeks.

"I figured I would find you in here…" Dean's voice rippled across her skin.

She ignored him and pulled her legs up against her chest even tighter than before. He inched across the room and sat down next to her, wrapping an arm around her shoulders. She felt rigid against him. "Becky, you have every reason to feel upset about Ayva; but taking it out on yourself by drinking daily won't help."

"Is it any better than what you are doing? Constantly punching Roman or vice versa isn't any different…"

"It's very different, Bex. I hate seeing you this way...it makes me feel helpless."

Becky looked up from her position across her knees and really looked at her boyfriend. He had been the one to bring her out of her darkest part of her life and yet, he felt helpless to help her now. "I wish I had answer to give you. I just don't know what to do anymore." She answered softly.

"She's not gone forever. Once she figures out how to reverse what she did to the bitch, she'll be able to come back home."

"I just have a bad feeling…"

Dean held onto her a little tighter, wishing there was something he could do to ease the turmoil he could feel inside her. He had never been one to be overly emotional; but when it came to Becky everything was turned upside down. She rested her head on his shoulder while sucking in a deep breath.

She lifted her head back as Dean stood back up. He knew that she wanted to be left alone and space was exactly what he would give her. He leaned down to kiss her forehead before leaving the room in a blink of an eye.

"Rebecca…" A voice sounded inside her head in a soft whisper.

"Rowana?" She answered back, knowing that she was the only person who called her by her full name.

"Are you alone?"

"Yes…"

In a matter of seconds, the witch appeared in the room. Her usual long elegant gown was gone and replaced with a pair of jeans and a black flowing high-low top. Becky blinked a couple times to make sure she wasn't imagining the clothing differently. Rowana's long red hair fell over her shoulders in loose curls. "I don't have much time." She spoke softly.

"We've been looking everywhere for you." Becky retorted.

"I know and I apologize for staying hidden this long; but Aluxia's seeress is also looking for me. She believes that I know how to reverse what Ayva did to her."

"Can you?"

"Unfortunately...no."

Becky's shoulders sunk lower. If Rowana had no idea what to do, then what else could they do? Rowana's answer to her question was not what she had expected. The witch held her gaze with a solemn expression that was neither empathic or emotionless. "If you can't reverse what has been done, then what are we to do? Ayva is pregnant and needs us more than ever."

"I'm aware. The problem is that Ayva will not be able to reverse what's been done no matter what her father thinks."

"What do you mean?"

"Ayva's body is giving out now that she is pregnant. The baby is leaving her weak. She is all but powerless in her state."

Becky was mortified by the information given to her. There had to be a way to stop the implosion of the world. Rowana sat down on the edge of the unmade bed in the center of the room, her shoes imprinting on the plush rug. Turning her head to the side to look back at Becky, she could see the doubt radiating from her eyes; but Becky truly was the only person she could trust with what was said next.

"There is one way that I know will work, but it also has consequences." Rowana admitted.

"What is it?"

"We release the king from his prison."
