*Author's Note*

When I was writing this side story, I have realised that this story is getting longer whereas I am no where near the end so after giving it some thought, I have decided to make it into a two part and a half part side story. Fingers crossed for it to not be three and a half.

Thank you to my beta (legend fanatic) for helping me with my story.

Disclaimer: I own nothing at all, well, except my OC.

Spoilers: Well, the movie and a little of the prequel novel

"Baby sis, today is your big day. You don't want your makeup to smudge, do you?" Jay said softly as he gently wiped away the tears on her face.

"I thought you won't be able to make it. You told me last night that you have a tournament on Monday, so coach is making you stay and practice," she accused as she glued her eyes on the young man in front of her whom she has not seen for six months.

It has been four years since their graduation from Auradon Prep, five after Heres have been apprehended. Not long after graduation, Jay was approached by the Coach of Auradon's R.O.A.R. team, The Lions, and has been travelling around the world to participate in world tournaments ever since but he would always find time in between tournaments to visit his surrogate family and his girlfriend in Auradon.

"Nothing can stop me from attending my baby sis's wedding," he expressed, heartily.

"And you missed mine six months ago," Carlos expressed, bitterly.

"Carlos." Mal chuckled softly.

After graduation from Auradon Prep, Carlos was offered a scholarship at AIT, Auradon Institute of Technology, for computer programming. Carlos did so well that he even skipped a few grades and had just gotten his Master's degree a year ago and have been working with Ben to enhance the technology in Auradon ever since. Not long after Carlos has gotten his MD, he proposed to Jane, and they got married two months later.

"You'll survive," Jay teased.

"Mal?"

Just then, Ben's voice entered the room followed by a knock on the door.

"Coming," Mal raised her voice and replied towards the door before turning around to her surrogate siblings. "We'll give you two some time to talk. We'll catch up again tonight."

"When will you be leaving this time?" Carlos voiced out his concern.

"I've booked my flight for tomorrow at noon," Jay informed.

"Evie, I'll come back later," Mal informed as she stood up to tidy her dress before walking out of the room with Carlos beside her.

"Hey, love."

Mal was greeted by a cheesy smile when she opened the door.

Carlos smiled and closed the door behind him before walking out to the dessert table to find his wife.

Almost instantly, a pair of arms found its way around Mal's waist and shortly after that, a pair of lips found its way onto Mal's. Finally, after not being able to see her for two days, Ben could no longer bear his emotions as they started to make out on the corridor outside Evie's room.

The music of 'Bridal Chorus' started to fill the air and everyone raised from their side. A few seconds later, the giant doors of the chapel opened, revealing the beautiful bride, Evie, with her an arm around her surrogate brother's, Jay. Everyone raised and turn to watch the bride and Jay walked slowly into the Chapel, and towards Evie.

Ben extended his arm around Mal and entwined his fingers with hers. He knew that his wife will be very emotional on Evie's big day.

Mal turned to his husband and smiled, with tears in her eyes. She gulped, trying to hold back her tears, as she rested her head on his shoulder.

Just as Evie and Jay reached the pulpit, Doug extended his left hand towards Jay.

"Take care of her," Jay said softly, as he shared one last look with his sister who returned with a sweet smile before he extended his arm to officially hand over his second sister to the man she loves and their future.

"I will, with all my life. Thanks, Jay," Doug expressed, sincerely.

Doc cleared his throat before he started, "We are gathered here today to join these two Doug and Evie as husband and wife…"

"Did you regret that we never elope or have a small wedding like Evie or Carlos?" Ben whispered to his wife.

Mal turned to her husband and replied softly, "I am happy with whatever wedding as long as you are the groom. Ben, you know I have not been big on weddings and to me, a wedding does not define our relationship, we define who we are. I know you have your responsibilities that we can't run away from, but because I love you, I will learn to share the responsibilities with you."

"Mal..." Ben said softly, as though the two of them were the ones exchanging vows instead of Evie and Doug.

Mal's lips curled as she knows what Ben wanted to say. She leaned forward, wrapped her arms around his waist and rested her head on his broad chest as the memory of the events that happened a year ago came into their minds…

~~~ A year ago ~~~
"Mal!" Evie shouted and ran towards the limousine which was driving into Castle Beast's driveway.
"Evie!" Mal quickly opened the car door and ran into her surrogate sister's open arms.
It has been six months since Evie had last seen Mal. Not long after their graduation, Evie had also opened her first official store of Four Hearts in Auradon's marketplace. It was at the same time she was offered a scholarship by Ben to attend FIC, Fashion Institute of Corona, and the role of Royal Tailor upon her completion of her education at FIC. Evie was reluctant to leave Mal because Jay had just left with The Lions and Carlos will be leaving for AIT, which is on the other side of Auradon. She does not want her surrogate sister to feel abandon, but Mal also knew that Evie was meant to be at FIC so after having a heartfelt conversation, Evie finally gave in and took up Ben's offer. And after three years, she had finally graduated and immediate, she bought the earliest ticket to fly back to Auradon to her sister. She has been waiting for Mal by the front door of the castle since her arrival.
"I missed you so much," Evie expressed, heartily, as she tucked her face into Mal's hair.
"Me too." Mal had suddenly remembered something and gently push her sister away so she could see her face, "I thought your graduation just ended less than six hours ago?"
"Yeah, it did. I did not wait for the ceremony to finish. I can't wait to see you so after getting my degree, I immediately booked the earliest flight back to Auradon," Evie explained.
"What about your stuff?" Knowing how her sister is like, Mal knew that it's impossible for her to move all her stuff back in one day.
"Oh, I had finished packing all my stuff last night, and Doug is helping me bring them back to Auradon. Oh, that reminds me," she diverted her attention to the young King who had just walked towards them and was now standing beside her sister and said, "I need to borrow your private plane. The designs are too worthy to fly commercial."
Ben chuckled after hearing her words, "I'll get Jayden to contact Doug shortly."
"Thank you." Evie smiled in reply before turning back to her sister, "I have so much to tell you…"
Together, Mal and Evie returned to Mal's room to continue their conversation while Ben returned to his study room to contact his assistant and to finish his royal duties for the day.
"Ben?" A voice entered the room followed by a soft knock on the opened door.
"Mom, Dad." Ben greeted as he stood up and walked towards his parents, gesturing to the couch in the room.
"Ben, you are turning 21 in a few months' time, and your father and I were thinking maybe it's time we start to make wedding preparations for you and Mal," Belle expressed warmly.
"But mom…"
"Ben," the former King interrupted. "You remember what you promised the council three years ago? The people of Auradon have been waiting for your wedding since your graduation from Auradon Prep and after many pushing of the matter by the council, you had promised that you would have your wedding with Mal after you have reached 21."
Ben sucked his lips inward, not knowing what to say.
Seeing that Ben had nothing to say, the former Kind continued, "Ben, you are turning 21 in less than three months. It's time you discuss with Mal about this. Mal deserves to know what the council had said, this will eventually be her duty as Queen of Auradon. It's…"
"We will give you some time to think this through and talk to Mal about this." Belle gently pulled her husband's arm as she interrupted.
The former King turned to look at his wife who in return shook her head gently at him. Adam sighed softly before getting up with her to leave the room to give Ben some space.
"Ben? Is there something bothering you?" Mal's voice interrupted his thoughts.
Mal has noticed that Ben has not been himself since dinner and his invitation to take a night stroll had further confirmed her suspicion. She had a hunch that Ben was hiding something from her but she was not upset at all. She would never suspect his love for her, so she knew Ben must be hiding things to protect her and not to hurt her.
Ben shook his head a little to clear his head before turning to his fiancé. Looking at the purple-haired beauty in front of him had made him feel so lucky that he had found her. After their graduation from Auradon Prep, the royal council had officially passed on the full responsibilities of the ruler of Auradon to him. For the past three years, he had not been able to go on a date with Mal like they used to when they were in school, but Mal had never made a single complain or show any indications of unhappiness. This had made him love her even more and the desire to marry her to be even stronger, but he also knew that his beauty purple-haired girl was not ready to be Queen yet. He would rather face the council than see her be unhappy.
"Ben?" Mal repeated when she noticed Ben was starting to drift away.
Ben quickly recovered and wrapped his arms around her tiny waist, "Mal, I love you."
Mal blushed a little while resting her hands on his broad chest, "why the sudden show of affections?"
"I just want you to always be happy," Ben said softly.
"What happened?" Mal knew something must have happened to Ben during her time with Evie.
"I'm turning 21 in two months' time," Ben informed.
"Well, I am very well aware of that. I'm helping Mrs Potts with the party preparation, remember?" Something came to mind, Mal squinted her eyes at Ben before continuing, "Are you making a request for your 21st birthday? I already had something in mind for you, but you can tell me what you have in mind, and if you're lucky, you might get two presents this year," she finished with a sheepish smile.
Ben looked into her eyes for a very long time and just as Mal was about to lose patience and ask again, he finally opened his mouth and asked, "will you be my Queen?"
Ben could see that Mal was caught in surprise by his question, but he just waited quietly for her to reply.
Ben was right, Mal was caught in surprise and froze upon hearing his question. Suddenly, everything started to make sense to her.
"Is this what you have been thinking about all night?" She asked, and he nodded. "Ben, we are in this together. Please never be afraid to tell me anything. I want to stand beside you and behind you."
He knew that this was her way of saying yes. With that, he leaned forward to share a kiss with his soon-to-be wife,
After breaking the news to Evie about their wedding, Evie was so excited that she had started to work on the design of Mal's wedding dress for the rest of the night.
Mal watched her surrogate sister lost in thoughts as her sister drew on her designing pad by her study table. She turned to look at her room for the past three years, catching her reflection in the mirror at the far corner of the room. Her hair was tied into a side braid, and she was wearing a blueish purple spaghetti straps cocktail dress with silver heels on her feet. Who would have known the child of the greatest villain would one day be the Queen of Auradon? She had started to realise that she was no longer against the idea of marrying Ben or being the Queen. She has proved to herself that she is ready to take on any challenge after marrying Ben, the past three years were her best evidence to support her intuition.
Different from her surrogate siblings, she did not accept any offers for college. Instead, she spent her past three years volunteering all over the country, and she even worked with Ben to improve the living standards of the Isle. In between, she would help the new VKs, who she and Ben had chosen to cross the barrier, to fit in.
She slowly walked to her bed to pick up her phone to break to news to Carlos and Jay.
to be continued...
So, did any of you guess that Jay was actually back for Evie and Dou's wedding which will actually bring you guys down a memory lane to Mal and Ben's wedding.
Thus, making Ben feel guilty that Mal was forced into having a big wedding because of his responsibilities instead of being given a chance to have the wedding she want.
