A Helping Hand

Kingsley looked around the bar at the devastation and shook his head. "Who did this?" he asked, eyeing the rookie Auror's.

"Teenagers, I assume," Auror Pickett replied. "We've got names, and the we have a location on the ringleader of the gang that we think is responsible."

Kingsley nodded and crossed the floor of the Three Broomsticks into the back room, to find Rosmerta. She was leaning against the counter of the small kitchen, a desolate look on her face.

"Hey you, I came as soon as I heard," Kingsley greeted, holding his arms out for a hug. She stumbled towards him, giving into the need to be weak for a moment and accept comfort.

"Did you see the state of the place?"

"It can be fixed. Pickett said they've a location on the ringleader. It won't take long to find him," Kingsley replied, tightening his arms around his girlfriend.

"Minister?"

Kingsley released Rosmerta and turned around, hiding her from view. He knew she hated being seen looking vulnerable except to those closest to her.

"We're heading out to pick up the little shits."

Kingsley nodded. "Send word when you have them please, and hold them until I arrive in the morning."

Pickett nodded. "Sir."

Once the Auror had left, Kingsley turned back to Rosmerta. "Come on, sweetheart. I'll help you clean the place up."

"Are you sure?"

"It's not exactly a hardship for me to help the woman I love, is it?" he replied, a teasing smile tilting his lips.

They both pulled their wands as they returned to the main bar area, and with many, many, cleaning and mending spells, the bar was put back in order.

"Reparo," Kingsley uttered, running his wand along the top of the bar, smiling when he saw the glasses fixing back into their original shapes. "And done."

Rosmerta smiled tiredly at him. "Thank you. Are you… staying?"

"Unless you're planning to kick me out?"

"Never," she replied, leaning over the bar to press a kiss to his lips. "Are you hungry?"

"I could eat."

"Then let's go and see what there is, and then go to bed. I'm wiped now."

He nodded, and, wrapping his arms around her waist from behind, he let her lead the way into the back. As the two of them enjoyed some warmed up hotpot, Auror Pickett's Patronus arrived, informing Kingsley that they'd caught the main assailant and three of his accomplices.

"You're going to terrorise them in the morning, aren't you?" Rosmerta asked, a knowing look in her eyes.

Kingsley's eyes shone with undisguised glee. "Oh, baby, you have no idea. Nobody messes with my woman."

Rosmerta chuckled. "My hero."
