The Only One (I Want)

Theo lay on the couch, watching the seconds tick past on the clock. Time seemed to be moving slower than usual, though he imagined that was because he was impatiently waiting for Blaise to get home from his date. Not that Blaise had to rush home, Theo wasn't his keeper or anything but…

Theo was impossibly jealous, and had been every single time Blaise had gone on a date since the two of them had decided to share a flat. Before, it had been easier to ignore. He tuned out when Blaise talked about his dates, and he didn't have to know if Blaise came home or not.

Now that they were living together, Theo couldn't hide from his jealousy and it was killing him slowly and surely. He just didn't know how to change it.

"So, I know we've been best friends for years, and I've never given any inclination that I want to be the only person to see you naked, but will you please stop dating all these people and date me instead."

Even in his mind that sounded bloody stupid.

Except.

"Finally!"

Theo blinked and then sat up rapidly, turning his attention to the doorway. Blaise stood watching him with a wide smile on his face.

"Erm... did I say that out loud?"

Blaise nodded, walking around the sofa to collapse on it beside Theo. "Do you know how exhausting it is, faking dates twice or three times a week. I've even taken to going to the Muggle cinema, Theo! And even the staff there think I'm some sad loner because I always go by myself!"

"You are a sad loner if you're going there - what do you mean, fake dates?"

Blaise had the good grace to look sheepish. "Well. I, erm, you were never going to get the courage up to tell me you love me like I love you, so I thought, if I made you jealous..."

Theo gaped at Blaise for a moment. "Why couldn't you just tell me that you love me?"

"Because what if I was wrong?" Blaise replied, his tone deepening. "Imagine if I'd been imagining things and you laughed in my face and it ruined our friendship and I lost you and -"

"Breathe, Blaise."

"Well. What if that happened?"

"I guess we'll never have to find out," Theo replied with a smile. He leant forward, pressing their lips together in a chaste kiss.

"And just for the record," Blaise said as they parted. "You're the only one I want to see me naked."
