Never Bow Down
They line the walls, all held on their knees at wand point. Percy is in between Charlie and George. It's all gone wrong, and yet, as Percy watches through narrowed eyes as the Dark Lord paces the hallway, he cannot help but feel that he'd finally where he's supposed to be.
He's with his family.
"You all fought against me, and you failed," the Dark Lord said, hissing slightly. "You will now bow before me, or you will die."
The Death Eaters stood before them with smirks on their faces, spread out around the room to control the masses on their knees.
"Harry Potter, and Albus Dumbledore, and anyone else you all thought your heroes, are gone," the Dark Lord continued. "I am the highest power, I am your leader. Dare to question my rule, and you will die."
"You're wrong."
Percy turned to look at George, eyes wide when he saw George forcing himself to his feet.
"You're wrong," George repeated, "because what you fail to realise, Lord Voldemort, is that without the belief of the people, you're nothing. You can't be a ruler, when all you have is fear."
Percy swelled with pride for his brother. Even though he knew that George's words were likely to get the entire family slain, he knew that that was always going to be the end result for them anyway. Not a single one of them would willingly bow to the Dark Lord.
"You might have won the battle, but you'll never win the world. There are too many people who see you for the parasite that you are."
The green light flashed from Voldemort's wand, and George slumped to the floor, the life gone from his eyes before he touched it.
Their mother cried out, reaching for him, but the Death Eater in front of them flicked their wand in warning.
Percy, horrified at a second brothers death but still swelling with pride for him, pushed himself to his own feet, not entirely surprised when first Bill and Charlie, but then the rest of his family did the same.
People around the hall followed suit, leaving the Death Eaters to turn to their Lord for guidance.
Percy smiled, his thin lips stretching unfamiliarly. He hadn't had much to smile about lately.
"George is right. Kill us if you must. Burn the world, because it's all you're good for. Destruction. I'll never call you Lord."
The green lights started flying and Percy didn't even try to dodge. He stood firm and he took the spell meant for him, knowing he'd finally done the right thing.
And he'd died for what he believed in.
