Believe In You, Believe In Me
"You got it?"
Oliver smiled when Percy entered the carriage, his Head Boy badge gleaming on his chest. Oliver could only imagine how many times Percy had already polished the badge.
"Did you have any doubt?" Percy asked, raising his eyebrow.
"Well, I mean… I thought I was a candidate, you know, being so handsome and responsible as I am and all."
Percy chuckled. "Hmm. Responsible until Quidditch gets involved you mean?"
Oliver sobered when he thought about what should have been the Quidditch final last year. It had been awful, to have the match called off at the last minute.
"This year's our year," he murmured, as Percy sat down beside him. "It has to be. It's my last chance to lift that Cup, Percy."
Percy reached over to squeeze his hand. "You'll get it, Oliver. I believe in you."
…
Percy was waiting for him in the dormitory. He grinned widely when Oliver came in. Oliver's cheeks were hurting he hadn't been able to smile so much.
"We did it, Perce. We actually did it."
"I told you I believed in you," Percy murmured, holding his arms out for Oliver to fall against him, embracing him tightly. "I knew you could do."
"I love you," Oliver murmured against his neck.
"I love you, too."
"I want you to have my gloves. You know, once my uniform is cleaned and all. The gloves from my last game at Hogwarts."
"You don't have to -"
"I know. But… you don't even like Quidditch, and yet you were there with me the whole year, listening to me plan and rant and worry. This win was as much for you as it was for myself."
…
Oliver frowned at the familiar writing on the didn't have a clue why Percy would be writing to him. The two hadn't spoken for almost seven months; when Percy had denounced everything but the Ministry.
It still hurt to think about that argument.
He slit it open and tipped the contents onto his hand.
A scrap of parchment and a gleaming Head Boy badge fell out. On the parchment was just a single sentence, but it made Oliver smile anyway.
Maybe his Percy was still in there somewhere.
Because you always believed in me.
