Ed smirked. "Completely," he agreed. "But you know she's worth it," he cast a sideways glance. "And I have lots to apologize for."

Bran was surprised at the confidence and camaraderie, and even more that it was for him. He didn't know much about the Elric brother, but what he'd wheedled from Winry alluded to someone who made easy friends and kept them when things stopped being easy.

The younger man stiffened. He wanted no inroads towards that and stretched up to scrape paint beyond Ed's reach. "I have nothing to be sorry about," he said curtly, regretting his civility.
