Aidan Hong glanced out the window of the Valkyrie, the ground forces looked like a massacre; it was not yet clear which side would win. Uncertainty slowly crept into his mind, but he reprimands it. He was a soldier of the Imperial Guard, hailing from the world of Harakon, fear is not what the Emperor would have wanted. Tightening his grip on his las-carbine, he took a quick breath and made a silent prayer to the God-Emperor, like he always did back during training.
The sergeant stood up and viewed his stormtroopers, "Alright, boys, most of you are just recruits; fresh out of training, but remember why you are here. You are the last line of defence against these filthy Xenos and to mankind. You must do your duty. The Emperor protects!"
"The Emperor protects!" They all yelled in unison.
He nodded before opening the door of the Valkyrie, "GO! GO! GO!" He yelled.
Once more, Aidan made a quick prayer before it was his turn to jump. The wind roared, punctured only by the screams and explosions below. Aidan breathed hard onto his re-breather, uncertainty snuck into his mind. An explosion flew past him. He continued to breathe slowly, in an effort to slow his already fast heartbeat. Soon, blood splattered on him. He rubbed the blood off his goggles, realising that the rest of his squad had already activated their grav-chute. The Harakoni recruit, quickly activated the chute, barely making it with a hard landing. With a grunt, he got up to see hordes upon hordes of Xenos approaching them.
Aidan had never seen such vile creatures before, with arms for blades, with such monstrous figure.
He heard his sergeant scream the word, "Tyranids."
