Chapter 26: Agent 00Raditz
King Kai was concerned. The explosion of the planet scrambled his psychic capabilities just long enough that he wasn't sure if his star pupil had escaped or not. He could only guess he had since he hadn't rushed to his planet from King Yemma's yet, but he couldn't be 100% sure. Now he had the difficult job of telling Chi Chi and the others the news as the group eagerly awaited an update.
Clearing his throat he began, "Everyone, I know you are wondering if Goku survived his battle with Frieza…" He paused for a moment to collect himself before continuing.
Everyone was silent, waiting for the news the blue deity had to pass on about the Earth's hero. "Well it's like this, Goku beat Frieza, but when the planet exploded I sort of... lost track of him...so I don't know if he survived." He finished, preparing his mind to be assaulted by Chi Chi's rage which was rapidly becoming infamous.
Everyone present was silent for a minute. The Saiyan General was the first to respond, "How do you lose track of someone as strong as the legendary super Saiyan? Even I could feel the energy he was giving off when I came back!"
"Well I was celebrating his victory and…" Chi Chi cut him off there "He's alive. I don't know how, but I know he's alive." A faraway look in her eyes.
The group slowly went their separate ways after that. The Namekians and everyone else in general were invited back to Bulma's place for the time being. Piccolo ignored the invite though and immediately set off on his own to continue his training. Nappa was left in an awkward situation, torn between defying Vegeta's orders, following the others, or going with the only other warrior he respected on the planet.
Finally, he decided that if he wasn't wanted with Vegeta it'd be best to go with the others who were new to the planet. He could always find the Saiyan prince later. Besides he wasn't needed in his role of bodyguard at the moment. 'Nothing on this planet could touch him besides me and the slug man anyway.' He reasoned before taking off in the direction Bulma's plane had just gone carrying the hundreds of Namekian visitors.
(Across the galaxy Cold Planet 2)
Hundreds of Soldiers rushed back and forth, processing the massive amount of data they were receiving from all across the galaxy. Thousands of Terabytes worth every day. It was up to them to make sure the King had all the knowledge he needed to make the important decisions. At least those decisions that none of his subordinates could make themselves.
All of the running had come to a halt a mere half hour ago; first one of the long range scouters had determined that Frieza had assumed his final form, not just that though he was actually fighting at a level nearly half that recorded the last time he tried to wrench control of the entire organization from his Brother.
Two massive power levels fluctuated wildly. Whoever was challenging the heir apparent of the Planet Trade organization varied in power more so than the Heir himself. Finally, after a prolonged fight, Frieza's power vanished from the sensor's readings all together. A moment later the other massive power vanished as well, leaving them all in a state of uncertainty.
Quickly, they uploaded the video from the royal spaceship on the planet's surface, the last images were of the world being destroyed, with the ship still on the surface.
The commander of the building sprang into action, rushing to the throne room as fast as he could, bursting through the door, much to the true ruler of the galaxy's surprise. "Commander Buket, what do I owe this unexpected visit to?" His tone almost amused, and a little surprised at the usually reserved commanders forwardness.
"I'm sorry, your Excellency, but I have dire news." Commander Buket said with a low bow.
"Yes what is it?" King Cold responded looking disinterested.
"Sire Lord Frieza's power level peaked at his maximum a few moments ago." He started as King Cold's eyebrow rose in curiosity. "And then another high power level appeared. Lord Frieza's power level then sharply dropped, followed by the challengers signal. Images from the royal ship is show the planet was destroyed." He quickly explained.
King Cold's look was one that could terrify any warrior, "Well...have you ordered a rescue mission…" His tone was one of barely restrained anger.
"No Sire I-" The rest of his explanation was cut off as his body dissolved.
King Cold rose from his chair and hurried into the main system control, "Who is second in charge!" He hollered as a short catlike creature rushed forward, "Sire I am-" He started to say with a bow.
"I don't care, send out a message to the closest base to the planet my son disappeared from and set up a rescue mission immediately. Tell them whoever brings my son back to me will be rewarded beyond their wildest dreams."
The feline creature rushed to carry out his orders.
'Hang in there son, I would hate to have Cooler try to assume the throne without actually defeating you...' King Cold thought, his mind reaching out to his younger child, and thinking back to his families century long tradition.
Frieza planet 129, a frigid wasteland, not even worth its weight in mud or the blood of the soldiers and civilians slaughtered to bring it under control. The only reason anyone cared about it enough to hire the Planet Trade to take care of the natives was an ancient slave rebellion against a more technologically advanced race centuries ago.
After the battle was over, the old slave masters didn't even want the world. Not wanting it to go to waste, Frieza placed a base there, or more specifically Zarbon decided to put a base there, kept in a constant state of underfunding with third rate technology. It was the prefect punishment for any commander who was powerful enough to be of use at some point, but who at the same time were assured to be no real threat at the moment.
That was why he was here, he had made the mistake of mouthing off to Zarbon, the effeminate prick, one to many times. Captain Bonza, a member of the Roccodilian royal family at that, banished by his own flesh and blood to some backwater trash heap.
That is until King Cold's transmission came through half an hour ago. When that transmission came through, the chance he had waited for his entire life made itself known. He wasted no time, he ordered the technician who had received the message to prepare his ship and to tell no one. Then he hurried to his chamber, to make himself presentable for when he rescued the apparent crowned Prince of the entire Planet Trade Organization.
He could already see the riches, the glory; the worlds that would be heaped upon him when he, the dashing hero, delivered the lost Prince to the King. The pride of his father's eyes, His 'legitimate heir' of a brother's head hanging above the fireplace of his main palace. It would be everything he had ever dreamed of.
He confidently strode into the hanger, his mind someplace far off. So far off in fact that he didn't notice that the hanger itself was entirely empty. His pace slowed to a stop, shock racked his system. He shook his head, he rubbed his eyes, no matter how he looked at things though, his ship, all of the ships were gone.
A feral scream could be heard echoing throughout the base for several minutes afterwards.
(4 days after the destruction of Namek)
Raditz had set his wake up timer a full day out from the planet he was heading towards, that was why he was surprised when he awoken several days early, his message alarm blaring
His eyes flew open remembering the issue he had had heading to Namek. All around him dozens of planet trade ships of all shapes and sizes.
'Shit!' He thought to himself as a voice started to speak. "Identify yourselves!" It demanded in a rough, raspy voice.
The Saiyan's mind was racing, 'Are they looking for us, or someone else? Can I outrun them? Are their ships armed?' So many questions and so little time to think through the answers.
Finally he decided to gamble, he could leave the kid for dead if things started to look ugly. "I'm Raditz, my nephew is in the other ship. We're going to Frieza base 129 on Frieza's direct orders to recuperate between missions." He made his voice as imposing as he could, hoping they wouldn't call his bluff.
"You're not going anywhere until we receive a message from your nephew bub." It responded as more ships formed up around them.
"Brat! Wake up and say hello!" Raditz shouted. No answer.
"Brat NOW!" He shouted louder.
"That's it move in." The disembodied voice ordered as the ships began to form up in an attack formation.
"Brat it's time to eat!" He shouted one last time praying it would work again.
"Breakfast!" Gohan shouted an incredible excitement in his voice, "Wait huh?" that was when he remember he wasn't home, there would be no breakfast. He recovered much quicker than the last time he dreamt of home, back to his 'new' persona within seconds. "What's going on?"
"There, enough evidence for you?" Raditz asked, trying to not let the nervousness sneak into his voice.
"What's your name nephew?" The voice asked one last question to make sure that it wasn't just a voice simulating computer.
"I'm Gohan, who are you?" Gohan asked, his voice clearly nervous.
Before anyone could say anything else one of the ships lurched forward, back toward the direction the Saiyan duo had just come from. "Damn it Nashi!" The voice shouted as the rest of the ships took off after it.
After they were gone Raditz just sat there, 'What the hell was that about? That wasn't just a planetary raid, that was a fleet...at least an entire base worth of ships...why?' He couldn't think of an answer. So he just sat there, mind racing as their ships rushed forward.
"Uncle…" Gohan's voice cut through his thoughts suddenly.
"What is it brat." Raditz growled.
"Are they going to the dead planet?"
'The planet, something had to have happened on the planet...' It was the only conclusion he could think of. "Why did you say the dead planet?" He asked.
"Because I think it blew up after you went to sleep." Gohan responded.
"Frieza!" Raditz suddenly shouted. "They're going to look for Frieza." It all made sense, 'The fools think they'll get some reward for finding him.' He almost wanted to laugh at the fools, the disgusting fate that awaited whoever found that monster. He was sure the only reward they could get was a quick death instead of a drawn out one.
"Brat, when we get there… you're going to have to be on your toes. I'm not sure what we are going to find. The base could be empty, it could be half full." Raditz said as he stared off into space. 4 days until the mission began he could only hope they would be ready for whatever was waiting for them.
"Okay…" Was the only response Gohan gave, an uncomfortable silence falling between the two until they went under again.
Chi Chi had been upset at the news that he didn't know, but in her heart she was sure he had survived. They just had to wait a few days and he would be back. But, as the days passed she slowly became less sure.
"Goku...where are you?" She asked quietly staring up into the sky, praying for an answer.
"Chi Chi! Oh Chi Chi!" A deep voice called from somewhere in the distance.
"I'm here dad!" She hollered back as the giant form of the Ox King rounded the corner.
The Ox King immediately knew what was on his daughters mind. He had seen the look on her face so much as a child. She was wondering where Goku was. "Don't worry honey." He said putting a massive, comforting hand on her shoulder, "Elder Moori, said their dragon balls would be ready to use in just a couple months. By then if we haven't heard from Goku we can wish him back." Chi Chi stiffened at the thought of Goku being dead again.
"No...we'll hear from him, he's coming back." She muttered to herself before turning back towards her home, she knew in her heart Goku was either finding her son, or on his way back already, she just knew it.
(8 days after the destruction of Namek)
"Captain! Ship incoming!" One of the technicians suddenly shouted in the control room. His voice somewhat shaky do to the Captain's rapidly fluctuating mental state.
"They couldn't have made it to the planet and back in just 8 days could they? Which one of the spineless cowards decided to turn back? I want to know their names when I kill them." He was still shaking with rage, the only thing that was getting him through the days was the prospect of getting to kill everyone except the one that ends up rescuing Frieza, though it was a poor consolation prize to all of your dreams coming true.
"They're not some of ours Captain, we don't know who they are." The technician said piquing the commander's curiosity. He knew it was likely too late to rescue Frieza, but on the off chance the Prince in question was being hand delivered to him, a small amount of hope sprang forth.
"Let them land, prepare a welcoming committee. Let's see who is paying us a visit." No one liked the tone the commander was taking but everyone hurried to obey, lest his famous wrath be turned against them as well.
Swelling below the duo was their destination, Frieza planet 129, a desolate frozen wasteland. Raditz had told Gohan the bear minimum of what he needed to do. He was still a kid. He wouldn't understand the importance of their mission.
Raditz had sent ahead the standard landing code, it was time to remind him of their talk one last time. "Remember Brat, no matter what happens follow my lead."
Gohan gave an affirmative just as the duo hit the atmosphere. Within seconds they had hit the pad. Raditz's heart was pounding, unsure of what he would find. It felt like it usually did when they were attacking a planet more Vegeta's level, only this time Vegeta wasn't with him. It was just him, and a kid whose power level couldn't decide if it wanted to be useful or not any given minute.
Slowly he rose from his pod as Gohan was did the same, doing a good job of following his lead. He could immediately see they were surrounded by at least a dozen fighters, without his scouter though he had no idea if they were standing dead or if they had a chance. "Really broke out the royal treatment for us huh?" Raditz somehow managed to keep a hint of humor in his voice, he needed to play his part perfectly.
"Who are you?" A large, stout, yellow alien said his face on the verge of a snarl.
"I'm Raditz, and that's my Nephew. We've been given a very specific set of planets Frieza wants us to take. It's to toughen the kid up, he's new here." Raditz explained.
"I don't care who you are, why are you here?" The large creature responded taking a step forward.
"My scouter got broken on our last mission and this was the closest base so I was hoping to pick a new one up. Maybe get a meal or two too, and some new armour." Raditz was trying his best to display an air of confidence, like he had seen Vegeta do so many times. Only instead of true confidence, like the Saiyan Prince had, it was all a bluff, he just hoped it was good enough.
"Whatever, we'll take you to see the Captain. He can listen to your story, and decide whether you deserve a what you've requested." The yellow alien said as he took his finger off the scouter, a confident look on his face telling Raditz exactly where he and Gohan stood.
"Fine, lead the way." He managed as the group began to walk towards the administrative building.
It only took a moment for the caravan to arrive. The room they entered was dark, very dark. The only thing they could see in the room was a chair facing away from them.
"Welcome to my base. I was listening to your story, quite an interesting tale." A somewhat refined voice said while the chair still refused to turn and give the Saiyans an idea of who, or what, they were speaking too. "Frieza himself doesn't chose low level missions personally very often."
"If you think so." Raditz responded not really sure what he was getting at.
"Oh I do Saiyan…" He said it like it was a dirty word, whether it be from the terror his people had caused before their eradication or the hatred Frieza had since spread about them, Saiyans were not a well like species. "I think it's odd that we've heard rumors that a Saiyan got in a fight with Frieza about a week ago and then two Saiyans show up on my door, the closest base to the planet the fight supposedly took place on." The Captain's voice was full of suspicion. The rumors he had heard from men accompanying Frieza during his latest escaped before everything had gone silent were getting hard to ignore. Especially the cryptic message supposedly sent by Jeice of the Ginyu force before they had gone into stasis.
"A Saiyan? Fighting Frieza?" Raditz was shocked, did Vegeta really take Frieza on? Could he really have been the other titanic force clashing with him? It was almost too much to believe. 'Did...he finally achieve it...did he become a Super Saiyan?'
Through a series of cameras Bonza could see the reaction, he liked to know more about his opponent then they knew about himself. "So you haven't heard the rumors then?"
"No, who was it?" Raditz honestly asked wondering if Vegeta or Nappa had actually put up a fight.
"Not sure, but doesn't matter they're dead now. You can stay here long enough to get what you've requested." Bonza said with a wave of his hand, still not bothering to turn around.
"Thank you." Raditz said with a bow as Gohan followed his lead. The duo then turned and took their exit.
When the Saiyans had left the room, Captain Bonza finally turned around a smirk on his face. "Sergeant, prepare one of those ships to depart as soon as I am done playing with these monkeys. It's obvious they are fleeing whatever conflict their filth got in with Lord Frieza."
When he was alone he began to chuckle to himself, things finally were looking up. One of the few things he and his half-brother agreed on was their hatred of Saiyans, specifically the fool Vegeta. But even better than getting an opportunity to take out some frustrations on two monkeys was the fact they hand delivered to him the key to achieving his dreams. With their ship he could intercept his rebellious men on their way back to King Cold's planet and ensure he would be the one to deliver Frieza.
The Saiyans were given a standard room like usual, and instructions on how to get to the armory to get their new equipment. With that they were left alone.
"So what's the plan?" Gohan whispered as soon as the door was closed.
Raditz growled, "First we get some food and then the scouter, follow me." Raditz said to hopefully fool anyone listening with the bugs that would be obviously in the room.
They made their way to the mess hall and got a plate apiece of the slime they were serving that day. The look and smell it gave off caused Gohan almost immediate nausea.
Raditz actually laughed at the face the boy was making, "I told you the other base was serving the high class stuff." Remembering the boy's first trip to the mess hall.
Gohan cringed slightly remembering the rest of what that day consisted of meeting Frieza for the first time.
"Hey, just relax, I have a plan." Raditz said as quietly as possible, though on the inside he was nervous too. If things went bad they would only have 1 option to survive and that would mean abandoning the mission he had planned out and hauling their asses off the planet as fast as they could.
"Alright, let's head to the armory and get that scouter." He muttered to himself as they each, painfully finished their plates of gruel.
Raditz felt himself tense slightly as they approached, Gohan too was nervous. He had no idea what they were really here for. All he knew was that there was something they needed to get, and it was more important than just a scouter.
Raditz had deviated from the directions they had been given almost immediately, taking a long roundabout way towards the base, he silenced Gohan's feeble objections that they weren't going the right way. Finally, they had arrived, the base's armoury building was in front of them now.
Raditz stopped and took Gohan aside, "Ok brat here's the plan, give me your scouter, then go to the counter and ask for another and armor for yourself and a size basic 7, I'll be back in a minute."
Gohan nodded, it seemed easy enough. "Alright, I'll be right back." He said confidently and strode forward into the armory. Repeating the list of items he needed quietly to himself so he wouldn't forget any of them.
It was a strange room, dark and dank, rows of equipment on what to the child seemed like endless shelves. Finally he came to a desk with a small blob is the only way to describe the green, tentacled creature sitting behind the counter. It's lone eye rising slightly in surprise at the child walking towards it.
"Please...Um...I'm here to pick up a new scouter…and uh...amour for myself...and another of armour size...uh..." Gohan shyly started as his mind completely blanked on the size Raditz had told him to pick up. He stood there fumbling nervously with his fingers as he tried to remember the size.
The creature began to bubble all over, its species form of laughter, at Gohan's request. In the 5 years he had been manning the armoury he had never seen a sight more ridiculous than the one presented to him today. "Stop wasting my time kid." It finally said its bubbling continuing.
"I'll remember it. Hold on please." Gohan said racking his mind still, not wanting to fail in his part of the mission.
"No get lost kid, I'm busy." It finally said a look of defeat spreading across Gohan's face.
"Hold on, I'll be right back." Gohan suddenly said before taking off running back out of the building.
Just as he exited the building a familiar voice called out to him, "Ah Saiyan, just the boy I was looking for. Where is your uncle?" Gohan turned to see who was addressing him. When he did fear shot through his system. Standing before him was none other than Zarbon himself, the monster who had given him his introduction to the planet trade organization. 'No….'
Raditz was instantly in motion, he didn't know how long he would have so he needed to make the most of the time he did have. Moving at top speed he had found his way into the main communications hub, so far every place he had gone since the cafeteria had been completely deserted making his movements easier.
Here though, there was actually a guard posted, a sleeping guard, but a guard nonetheless. Raditz darted down the hallway, his dash ending with a sharp crack to the guard's neck eliminating the potential threat before it had a chance to act. He then quickly made his way into the room.
Inside half a dozen planet trade soldiers diligently worked processing updated and completed missions as well as any inner base communication traffic that required approvals.
The small group was so lost in their work they hadn't even noticed he had come in. His scouter showed him how weak they were the instant he had entered the room. Raditz's eyes were shining with a predatory glint as he quickly went to work eliminating the last obstacles that stood between him and his goal.
He sat down at one of the now slightly bloody terminals and got to work digging through the piles of information for the specific pieces he actually needed. It was going to be a mind-numbing task, but one he was confident he could complete quickly.
Within a few minutes he was done, his borrowed scouter transferring the information of every planet trade mission in the entire sector to his ships computer for later retrieval. As the data flew across the small screen, one piece in particular caught his eye, the supposed location of a resistance group's base. A smirk crossed his face, everything was going according to plan.
"That was easier than I thought, let's see if the brat got his job done." He mumbled to himself as he quickly exited the room.
"Care to tell me what was easier than you thought?" A familiar voice asked as Raditz left the base.
Raditz's blood ran cold as he stared upon a creature that had come to represent terror for him for so much of his life. "Z...Zarbon?" He managed to stutter taking a step back. "Go...Gohan!" He shouted realizing his brat of a Nephew hanging from the monster's hand. His small body beaten to a pulp, and burned severely. Rage mixed with fear, Raditz didn't know what to do. He never got the chance to decide.
Bonza's face contorted in rage, "How dare you!" He shouted phasing from the Saiyan's view, his fist colliding with Raditz's face. The Saiyan's face cut through the reinforced wall of the base like a hot knife through butter. Before shooting across the ground like he was a bullet fired from a gun. Finally, he slowed enough that he made contact with the ground, as he skimmed across the surface for several seconds finally coming to a stop.
Raditz's entire body hurt, his vision swam. It was as if he was in a haze as he tried to sit up. When he did he was met with a terrifying sight.
Bonza stomped out from the hole he had just formed using Raditz, practically foaming at the mouth, "You worthless, piece of shit! How dare you confuse my perfection with the effeminate mockery that is Zarbon!" He snarled, barely able to control himself.
Although his head was still spinning, Raditz thought back to the being he had seen, the only difference he had noticed between Zarbon and whoever had hit him was a lack of braided hair, everything else had looked identical.
"Insulting royalty such as I, captain Bonza? I guess it's true what they say, you monkeys don't get any smarter when you're older. This brat made the same fatal error you did." Bonza snarled taking a step towards his prey as Raditz struggled to get to his feet, his eyes falling back to his nephew.
"You...bastard...what...the...fuck...did...you...do to him…" Raditz managed to rasp out each word painful to his aching head.
Bonza smirked at Raditz's obvious pain not even noticing that the Saiyan was no longer looking in his direction as he began to reminisce.
(Flashback)
"Ah Saiyan, just the boy I was looking for. Where is your uncle?" Bonza called as he saw Gohan rush from the armoury.
Gohan stopped a look of outright horror on his face. His mind couldn't think memories of Zarbon's torture session rushed back to life. Finally when Bonza took a step forward a surge of adrenaline activated, unleashing Gohan's hidden power.
Bonza's eyes widened with surprise as his eyes registered the number his scouter read. It was over 3000. A child with that sort of power was almost unheard of.
"Zarbon!" He snarled as he began to go into a fury, each and every attack seemingly just a fraction of a second too slow to make contact.
Bonza had his own rage rising to the surface, his fist lashed out and crashed up into Gohan's chin sending him flying. "You little shit!" He shouted as he began to blast away at the still stunned Gohan, blast after crimson blast crashing across his body. Darkness slowly overtaking the child's vision.
(End Flashback)
As Bonza had gone into his monologue about beating Gohan into submission something rising over the roof of the base had caught Raditz's eyes it was almost too good to believe. The base's moon had arrived just in the nick of time.
His eyes focused on the perfect alabaster sphere, he began to feel the changes rushing through his body, one thing though was different than before. He was still thinking when the transformation started, 'Shit...the brat is going to die...I have to...I have to not destroy the med-bay...don't destroy the med-bay...and don't step...on...' He tried to keep that train of thought going as his mind gradually became foggier and the voice of his mind was slowly drowned out by the roaring rage of his primal side. Eventually disappearing completely inside of himself as his mind always had.
Bonza had finished his reminiscing, his mind coming back to the present and what he saw was something oddly familiar but still utterly surprising to him. Raditz's entire body was slowly expanding, a snout expanding out. 'Saiyans can transform?' his mind going to his families own special transformation that separated them from the rest of their people. Unlike his families limited transformation though, this one seemed much more complete, as the Saiyan seemed to continue endlessly to grow and expand out.
His scouter activated, rising as rapidly as Raditz's body was expanding, '18,000...19,000...' Real fear began to set in, the Saiyan was already well stronger than Bonza's normal form and if he kept this up he would surpass even his monster form. "NO! STOP IT!" He shouted as Raditz cracked 20,000 and Bonza's scouter cracked too, shattering a second later.
Finally Raditz's growth stopped and he let out a roar that shook the entire planet, the true might of the Saiyans had been brought forth.
The creature's fist was just a second to slow. Bonza threw the Saiyan child to the side barely managing to get out of the way of the massive descending fist just in time.
'I...I can't let him beat me...I'm one of only a few dozen fighters in the entire Planet Trade Organization with a power level above 15,000, I can't lose to a fucking monkey.'
Rushing away from the beast, he knew he only had one chance and that was to transform to battle the beast before him.
"Men! Battle stations!" He shouted as he rushed back into the hole and into the base. He shouted a few more times, pulling all the alarms he could find as Raditz's feet began to stomp through the roof of the building after him.
Surprised fighters rushed out into the hallway only to be crushed beneath the behemoths feet. Those that did survive the initial stomp, began to blast the monster that suddenly began to attack their base. Giving their commander the moment he needed to start his transformation.
His transformation happened rapidly, much more so than the Saiyans. The jump in power though was not nearly as impressive of a feat as Raditz had accomplished though. Based on the last readings of the scouter he might just have a chance, and that was what he was counting on as he shot upwards and out of the base's roof just as a massive mouth cannon from the enraged Oozaru ripped through the base vaporizing everything in its path.
"Come on you mangy ape, let's see if you can take me now!" The now reptilian-like Bonza shouted as he quickly embedded his legs in Raditz's massive gut knocking all of the air from the giant.
He staggered backwards as Bonza finished his maneuver by rebounding off of Raditz, back flipping, and unleashing a brilliant array of dark purple blasts into the stunned Saiyan.
The resulting explosion was massive. Every one of the blasts detonated at the exact same instant increasing the attacks effectiveness and leaving a massive cloud of smoke completely hiding the results.
Bonza admired his handy work for a moment, surprised by how easy it was to take down the beast once he got the jump on it.
"I just hope I left enough to not piss off Frieza since he had a specific no-kill-order on the monkeys." He said as he began to laugh to himself, absolutely confident in his victory.
His premature celebrations abruptly ended as a furious roar echoed across the landscape once more.
"No way he-" the rest of Bonza's thought was cut off as a massive blast cut right through where he was standing. He had barely made it out if the way in time.
Before he could even hope to counter attack, the planet trade commander was forced to drop to the ground to dodge the giant, furry fist the launched at him out of the debris cloud.
Again and again he was forced to dodge the massive attacks. Barely able to stay ahead of the result of Raditz's feral rage.
Finally the bastard prince was too slow as he was slammed into the ground with tremendous force. Raditz had slapped him from the sky like a fly.
He lay still for a moment at the bottom of the crater trying to get his bearings. The attack had done more damage than he had thought possible. His delay was his downfall though as Raditz scooped him up tightly gripping him in both hands and raised him to eye level.
Bonza struggled with all of his might against the crushing force constricting him, but to no avail. He let out a scream as Raditz's teeth rapidly expanded in his view, ending with a hard bite.
Bonza's body went limp the second his head was separated from his body. Raditz immediately ate the rest of the purple warrior before renewing his assault on the base. When his transformation finally ended, almost nothing was left standing. Raditz was left in a state of near unconsciousness.
"Damn...did I leave anything intact…" he muttered to himself as he slowly made his way back to where he had last seen Gohan, hoping he hadn't killed his dying nephew in his rage filled attack.
As he made his way over another hill of debris he saw a small shape partially buried in the rubble, his pace picked up slightly as much as his tired body could manage. He knelt by the side of his nephew, glad to see the child's chest still rising and falling slowly, he had survived.
'Now I just hope I left the med-bay intact...' He thought to himself as he stared at the piles of rubble and crater formed from his attacks.
It had taken him nearly half an hour, but he had found med bay, or at least what was left of it. He was just relieved that it seemed to be partially intact, there was a hole in the roof and more than half of the healing tanks were broken beyond use. But there were still some operational.
He set Gohan in the tank, and lay by the side. At least one of them needed to be out and on their guard at all times in case there were survivors. Still making his body listen to his mind was getting harder and harder at the moment as Raditz slowly drifted off into a dreamless sleep.
Hey everyone sorry for the delay, I got hit with a case of writers block for the first time in ages. But that is hopefully in the rear view mirror now. I hope to try and be able to get one more chapter up before the next semester starts, we'll just have to see.
On a side note, unless my math is wrong this chapter will finally push Culture Shock over the 200,000 word plateau. So here is a huge thank you for everyone who has supported the story so far, and a huge thank you in advance to everyone who will in the future!
A big shout out again to MrCamtastic for his great work editing the story, and helping me deal with some of my less coherent parts of the chapter due to the writers block.
Also a thank you to one of my friends for coming up with Captain Bonza's name.
I'll go ahead and add a powerlevel sheet for this chapter since it's been awhile since Gohan and Raditz have been included.
Raditz - 3000 (At the end of The First Time is the Hardest he was listed at 2700, this was because he was still recovering from the injury he had suffered earlier in the chapter.)
Raditz (Oozaru) - 30,000
Gohan - 200 (Slightly higher than the last time he showed up too, he had suffered a ton of little injuries during the purge.)
Captain Bonza - 16,000
Captain Bonza (Monster Form) - 24,350 (50% boost of his regular form)
For comparison purposes
Zarbon - 23,000
Zarbon (Monster Form uninjured) - 35,000
Alright time for the reviews.

Hmm wondering how strong Gohan is now
Your question prompted me to put the power level list for this Chapter, I have him at about 200 right now.

Usually authors only have enough skill to focus on their favorite character. You've done an amazing job covering ALL the characters! Congrats on your masterpiece!
Hey thanks, that means a lot to me that you think I've done such a good job. I will try my best to keep up the good work :).

Well gr8 1st anniversary gift
Another gr8 chapter as usual
So Gohan focused arcs. I am supposing where he tries to get as strong as possible after seeing the titanic spirit bomb?
So, I think by the end of these 10 chapters or so we'll be able to have the Family reunion or so
Update soon
Glad you enjoyed it. Yeah it's more of one extended arc for Gohan I guess now that I am really looking at it, so a 6 chapter arc that gets split in 2 at a point. It's going to be more about him and Raditz trying to find a place to fit in since they are out of the PTO. There will be some of Gohan trying to get as strong as possible though.
Sorry I can't reveal when the family reunion will happen, at least in my mind though it'll be a fun ride.

Good chapter... sooo I'm just taking a guess at this but are you having Gohan run into Turles... cuz the only way for him to catch up in my mind is the Tree of Might...
It is quite possible that they run into a certain Saiyan rogue while on their upcoming adventures, it would be a quick way for them to catch up ;)
super mystic gohan-
Glad you enjoyed the last few chapters, yeah this is just the tip of the iceburg for Gohan, he's going to have an interesting ride the next few chapters.
Chi-Chi's FAN-
What a way to end the arc. In a good way! Didn't lose my attention and has me wondering what's next. Guess those ogres were pretty lucky Chi-Chi was wished back to life. If Gohan and Raditz aren't going to Yardrat or Earth does that mean they won't be returning to Earth anytime soon or is that classified information?
Glad you enjoyed the end of the arc. Yeah the Ogres were in for a series case of bad cop-bad cop otherwise lol. It may be awhile before there is a trip to Earth for them.
nightmaster000-
Awesome story all around. Just found this story, and it's been a great read. I'm looking forward to seeing what happen's next.
Will there be any non canon pairings in this story, or will you just do the pairings that happend in the show?
Glad you've enjoyed the story so far, i'll try not to disappoint you with what's next. Since there are more characters still alive on Earth it is possible some of them could form pairings not seen in canon, I can't say how that might affect canon pairings at this point though. Hope you continue to enjoy the story!

Hay their I have been really enjoying your story so far and think it's unique and differen't and I enjoy it :) But their is just one thing I would like to ask you ? How comes Goku never used King Kia to contact Gohan ? He was able to contact Chi-chi so I don't see why he wouldn't attempt to contact his missing son ?
Glad you like the story so far! King Kai was able to contact Chi Chi because he knew where to look. Since he has never met Gohan before, nor does Goku have any idea what direction to even point him, King Kai has no way to find him. It is clear from the show at least that King Kai is far from all knowing so that is my reasoning for not showing Goku asking King Kai to find Gohan. I mean I did kind of brush over Goku's training there, it is entirely possible he did ask him to look for Gohan while he was there training. It was just not something I chose to cover, sorry for any confusion that caused. Hope you continue to enjoy the story.
One last note to everyone, I'm going to try and remember to post occasional updates on the progress of each chapter on my profile. I can't guarantee they'll happen very often or anything but I will at least try to give you an idea on when to expect the chapter.
