Chapter 31: The Prophecy
(4 months after the destruction of Namek)
The last four month had not only been the most difficult of Raditz's life they had also been the most rewarding. His team under their commander Shizen had quickly asserted themselves as the elite of the elite in the rebel group. Every mission was executed flawlessly, so much so that they would usually have all Planet Trade troops neutralized in less than 3 hours leaving the rest of the day for training.
And train they did, the grueling regime Shizen set up for them; the Saiyans in particular, was mind numbing. If injuries occurred on a mission usually they would happen during their intra team sparring instead of the life and death battle. That said Raditz and even Gohan quickly came to revel in it. Their power had grown the most out of the group, Raditz was closing in on 5000, and Gohan had already eclipsed the strength Raditz held when he first met his nephew. Shizen, making use of his psychic abilities even had helped Raditz and Gohan begin to understand how to keep control of themselves after completing their Oozaru transformation, at a substantial risk to himself.
Their regular pattern was a comfortable one until a week ago when all across the star cluster the constant attacks stopped. Many of the men in camp had taken it as a sign of victory. Shizen's team knew better than that though, there were benefits to a commanding officer who knew the future. And so for the week of supposed quite, Shizen had doubled the training workload for each of them. Pushing them all harder than they had ever been pushed before. Every night was spent in the healing tanks, the whole squad together. In the morning it would begin again.
This grueling routine continued for the first 6 days of the week, finally ending on the seventh day, Commander Shizen ordered them all to take the day off, to prepare their minds for the coming battle.
That day of peace passed quickly, Raditz and Gohan continued to train, though at a slower pace than previous days. A few hours of sparring were in the books when the call came in, they were to leave for a nearby world that preliminary reports indicated would soon fall under Planet Trade attack.
Commander Shizen had told them as much at the start of the week, they had also been warned that this battle would be the most grueling fight of their lives. If they didn't give it they all they would not return alive.
The flight to the world had been fast, a mere 2 days, when they arrived though it appeared the world was already under attack as one city was already burning.
"Alright men, they appear to be concentrated right now let's get a move on, that way we can hopefully catch them when..." Shizen started to order as two more cities suddenly went up in flames. "Scratch that, Raditz you, Gohan and Yubi take the city furthest east, me, Shinga and Sumi, we're investigating the western city. We'll try to meet up after the first round and examine our options from there.
After receiving a confirmation the two groups split and quickly descended into the atmosphere.
Fighting was fierce all across the city as, what constituted the planet's defensive forces, rushed to battle the seemingly invincible invaders. Everything they threw at the attacks was tanked as if it was nothing, from their most advanced weapons to the attacks of their strongest warriors, nothing phased their adversaries.
Raditz and his team had been lucky enough to run across a group of native fighters, and after a near catastrophe in which the natives tried to attacked them, they were able to gain much needed information on the situation. 4 Planet Trade attack pods had landed, initially in their capital. The entire city was wiped out in less than an hour before the two, two man teams split up and began attacking other cities. From the scouter like equipment the natives had been carrying at the time indicated, each of the fighters had a power level north of 8,000, with two of the fighters being north of 10,000. That fact alone was more than enough to make Raditz's mouth dry out in fear.
They only had three real options at their disposal to fight warriors of that kind of power, and none were a sure fired success. They could use the moon ball and crush their enemies, at the same time hoping they didn't completely destroy all life on the planet in the process; they could try to fight them normally and rely on Gohan's incredible ability to multiply his power level to absurd levels to reveal itself again; or the safest option for completing their mission was to hope their adversaries fell victim to Yubi's unique ability which was by no means guaranteed.
Before Raditz could think through his options, his hand was forced as the building he and the resistance fighters were huddling in exploded around them.
"Hey Ushi, look what I found." A large Blue skinned humanoid shouted to his even larger white and black speckled companion.
"Oh good find, more weaklings to crush beneath my hoofs." The large speckled alien said with a laugh.
Raditz let out a growl, "Looks like we get to try options two and three first. Brat you and I will lead the charge, Yubi get to work." Raditz said as quietly as possible as the natives already began to attack, and die against their foes like flies to a big zapper.
Yubi shot away from the fight to another nearby building where he could concentrate on his new orders better.
In the meantime Raditz launched forward be-lining right for the closer of the two Planet Trade elites, a large attack being charged in both hands. Gohan mimicking him every step of the way, hidden behind his uncle's massive frame.
When the duo got close the Elite warrior's eyes slanted, ignoring the native warriors in favor of the more exotic challenge.
Raditz let out a snarl seemingly indicating he was launching his attack, as the alien braced himself though Raditz shot upwards instead.
While the Blue alien looked up following Raditz's movements, he failed to notice the small child still closing in on him until the last second.
Less than two feet away Gohan launched his attack, "Double Sunday!" He shouted the attacks he had formed in each hands fused together almost instantly after launching colliding with the surprised warrior's stomach. From above Raditz took his chance and shouted "Saturday Crush!" A large pink blast crashing into the blue alien's head. The force of the combined attacks forced the warrior back, his body struggling to pump enough Ki out to keep the multi fronted attack from scorching his skin. Finally he failed and shot away towards the ground in the distance.
Before either Saiyan could celebrate their victory the second, more bovine looking warrior phased behind Raditz, "Not bad, but not good enough." The Elder Saiyan warriors face contorted painfully as a massive hoof crashed down on the top of his head. Sending him spiraling out of control towards the ground.
"Uncle!" Gohan shouted as he shot downwards trying to catch his limp body. His mistake was evident a moment later as the cow-like warrior appeared in front of him.
"You should worry about yourself boy." Gohan's eyes could only widen in terror when he realized the warrior's hoofed hand had been extended towards his chest. "Bye-bye kiddie." Gohan let out a shriek of agony as he shot backward riding on a powerful yellow blast towards the ground below.
The Blue alien rejoined his counterpart a moment later, he was barely scratched, but he was definitely irritated, scowl on his face said as much as he thought of the prospect of his partner's inevitable jokes. "You finish 'em yet?"
"No, I figured you'd want to try to redeem yourself since you did just let two weaklings like that push you around." Ushi responded with a slight jab.
"Whatever." The blue skinned warrior mumbled as he dropped towards the twin craters the Saiyans found themselves in.
Raditz was the first to rise, just in time to see his betters land, Gohan was still a whimpering mess on the ground, his chest thoroughly crispy from what was considered a weak attack by the Bovine alien. 'Damn it Yubi hurry up!' Raditz mentally shouted knowing his squad mate would hear him. Unfortunately there was no response.
"Actually how 'bout we play a game with these two?" The blue skinned alien suggested.
"Anything you have in mind?" Ushi asked a sadistic grin on his snout.
"Most holes in the big one in under a minute?"
"Deal." And just like that Raditz's fate was sealed.
Raditz was not liking the look of things, 'Damn it, here goes-' Raditz started to think as he desperately charged a moon ball in his hand not caring if the Planet Trade troops noticed.
"Whatever attack you have there won't do- What the?" Ushi suddenly shouted staring at his arm with a look of abstract horror, before letting out a scream of complete agony.
"Ushi what's wrong?" The Blue skinned alien asked, unsure of what was happening.
His Bovine partner could stop screaming long enough to answer though as he desperately clutched at his arm as if it was on fire. "Make it stop! Get it off me! Don't just stand there do something!" Ushi suddenly shouted placing his arm on the ground and accelerating across the ground trying to scratching something off of his skin.
"What the hell! I didn't see anything on your arm. Get back here I'll look closer!" The Blue alien shouted over Ushi's screams, unsure of what to do to stop his partner's mental break down.
"My arms dissolving! Make it stop!" He continued to shout as in agony. As he flailed his arm around in the air.
The Blue skinned elite just took a step back trying to come to some sort of explanation for what he was seeing, the only damage he could see on his partner's arm was from him scrapping it on ground.
Ushi suddenly stopped a look of utmost determination in his eyes. "Enough! I...can't...take...this ANYMORE!" He shouted as he grasped his right arm and began to pull with all his might.
"Ushi don't!" His squad mate shouted, but he was too late, the bovine warrior ripped off his own arm with an agonizing scream.
The Ushi yelled for a minute before standing perfectly still for another staring intently at his now severed arm, losing more blood by the second.
"Aotori...my arm...its normal...again..." He muttered to himself before falling to his knees his face rapidly going pale from blood lose, his completely fine, but completely separated arm, hanging limply in his hand.
"You idiot! Here I'll cauterize-" Aotori said temporarily forgetting the seemingly still staggered Saiyan.
Raditz chose that moment to act, he had been gathering his strength during the entire display. His hands whipped up, ready to take the blue alien by surprise as he took care of his rapidly dying comrade, "Let's see how you enjoy my Weekly Special!" The Saiyan shouted as a massive shower of blasts rained down on the surprised duo.
Explosion after explosion range out as Raditz put everything he had into this one assault.
When it was done the maned Saiyan warrior was left panting, in an uncomfortable silence.
That silence ended in a menacing laughter. "Really now. Tell me that wasn't your best shot." From the smoke emerged two figures Aotori and Ushi, the latter of whom still looked pale though his arm was now cauterize.
Raditz immediately regretted trying to fight this out the brave way. He would have no time to fix that mistake though as the blue alien rushed forward and slammed his fist into Raditz's cheek bone. Sending him shooting backwards as he landed in a heap. 'Definitely not going good.' He thought to himself as he tried to rise only to be yanked up by his hair instead.
"Ushi mind if I finish this one off?" Aotori asked, growing tired of the Saiyan.
There was no response. "Ushi?" He turned around to find his comrade standing completely still, two small lines extending from his back touching his head, and a blank look in his eyes.
"What the fu-" he didn't get to finish that sentence as the Ushi suddenly lurched forward a feral shout shaking the landscape as he begun a one handed assault on his former ally.
Even gravely injured the Bovine alien was still somehow as powerful as his blue counterpart, his attacks began to rain down at an annoyingly fast rate.
"What the hell are you doing you idiot! We're on the same-" The rest of his angry question was cut off by a fist to his face.
"You Planet Trade scum are all the same, so confident in your abilities because you pick on those weaker than yourself." Ushi suddenly said standing over his still recovering squad mate, his voice much more monotone than usual.
Aotori couldn't even respond, his mind was too stunned by his longtime ally's strange behavior.
"Time to end this." Ushi muttered his voice still sounding odd.
Aotori wasted no more time, he didn't know what was wrong with his former ally, but he would make sure this betrayal didn't go unpunished.
The blue warrior shot forward before his Bovine ally turned enemy could charge up a finishing attack, tackling the larger warrior to the ground.
It was only when they collided with the ground that Aotori got an idea what was wrong as in addition to Ushi's deep grunt, there was a higher pitched groan coming from beneath him.
Aotori immediately rolled off of Ushi who sprang to his feet, unintentionally revealing the creature on his back. It didn't take Aotori long to put two and two together and devise a plan to free his ally from the insect who clearly controlling him.
Launching forward Aotori bee-lined right for Ushi again, then at the last possible second broke to the right. His larger adversary couldn't turn fast enough, opening Yubi for a clear shot.
The small alien took the blast to his side and went rocketing away, a smoldering hole in his exoskeleton.
The Ushi's entire body went rigid for a moment as his mind froze into a state of shock. Then he immediately dropped to his knees, the rush of sensory information overwhelming him.
Aotori took a few steps back, his arms raised defensively in case whatever strange power that insect has been using was still active. He was keeping his eyes on both the insect and his former ally when finally Ushi spoke. "What the hell just happened?" The Bovine Planet Trade elite said as he wobbly got to his feet, clearly much weaker now than he was before.
"That thing was controlling you like a puppet." Aotori responded with a sigh of relief.
Ushi let out a snarl, as he made his way over to Yubi ready to kill the pest for thinking he could use him, a Planet Trade elite, as its puppet. "You little shit! Are you ready to die?" He shouted a large purple blast already he pressed down on Yubi with his massive hoofed foot.
Before things could progress further a high pitched feral voice rang out. "Put him down right now!"
Both elite warriors looked over just in time for Gohan to unleash his attack. Their scouters registering an unbelievable power level of nearly 17,000.
The yellow blast launched forth faster than either warrior could follow, Ushi raised his one remaining arm in desperation. It did him no good. The blast cut through his upper body like a tornado through a house, then it collided with the ground behind where Ushi had once been standing, detonating with incredible power.
Shards of debris rained down, in the chaos one piece actually managed to slash the skin right above Aotori's right eye, causing a steady stream of blood to flow forth.
The dust slowly settled, and when it did Aotori could only stare in disbelief at the little that was left of his once powerful comrade. 'How?...where did that power come from.' He looked back to the panting Gohan who fell back on his butt even as he watched him.
"You're going to-" Aotori's rage filled yell was cut off as Raditz intervened, throwing all the strength he had left into a kick which sent the blue alien flying backwards. The elder Saiyan then proceeded to scoop up Yubi and his nephew and high tailed it away from the city. They needed reinforcements, or at the very least to get enough time for him to transform.
They had only made it a few miles when the sky around them lite up, sending the trio plummeting into the ground.
Raditz felt a sickening crack in his arm, followed a moment later by a rush of pain as his nerves alerted him to the fiery agony emanating from his arm as he skid along the dirt for several dozen meters.
When he finally came to a stop, he could only grimace as he noticed the bone sticking from his arm just above the elbow, blood pouring down to his wrist. Worse though was the fact that his Nephew and Yubi had both escaped his grasp upon colliding with the ground.
The stunned Gohan and the gravely injured Yubi lay unmoving, almost directly below an all too familiar presence.
"Running is pointless you fools! We're killing everything on this rock! Don't you get that yet?" A voice rang out from above as Aotori in a partially shattered white and brown Planet Trade battle armor set shouted from above, a purple blast already charged in one hand. One of his eye was forced closed due to a steady stream of purple blood streaming from a cut on his forehead.
The child could only look up with fear in his eyes as bright purple energy gathered, signaling his doom.
Raditz was about to act when his commander's voice sounded in his mind.' count to 3 then get his attention.'
'Gohan grab Yubi and move!' Shizen mentally shouted as Raditz reached 3 in his head.
Raditz acted immediately shouting "Double Sunday." without even bothering to prepare an attack, he had nothing left in the tank. His timing was perfect as Gohan sprinted down the alleyway towards him as soon as he shouted causing Aotori to hesitate for a second expecting at least a last ditch attack heading his way.
Suddenly a voice rang out from above the elite Planet Trade troop. "You die here!" Shizen shouted, a massive yellow blast shot down just as the surprised elite began to turn.
The blast enveloped him, his death scream only being drowned out by the massive explosion that followed a second later leveling the entire city block.
As the rubble settled down, Shizen dropped to the ground panting heavily. Raditz and Gohan emerged from beneath the rubble looking to be in even worse shape than they had been before.
"Might want to act sooner next time, so I don't know, we don't almost die." Raditz growled, clearly frustrated with the mission and in severe pain.
"It had to happen exactly as it did otherwise he would've deflected that attack and we all would've died." Shizen responded flatly.
Raditz mumbled something to himself, as Gohan finished patting himself off.
"Thanks a lot Mr.- err I mean Captain Shizen." Gohan said, happy to be alive.
Shizen nodded to the boy.
"So what now?" Raditz asked still irritated at the agony that enveloped him every time he moved his arm.
"When I left the other city there were still 2 of them left alive. I've ordered Shinga and Suma to lay low after we nearly died in our first skirmish." Shizen said before crossing his arms deep in thought. Before finally looking up, I think we need you to transform Raditz." He finally said his voice slightly uneasy.
Raditz could understand why, although he had been training specifically trying to learn to control his primal side, so far he had mixed results even with the psychic's help. "Did you have a vision?" He asked, well aware of his commander's capabilities.
"No, more of a gut feeling." Shizen replied, not especially instilling confidence in Raditz
"You can do it Uncle." Gohan stated definitively. His uncle had gotten a lot better at controlling himself when he transformed, a feat that Gohan was still far away from achieving.
"Whatever brat." Raditz growled, though he did enjoy the vote of confidence from another Saiyan, even a naïve child of one. "Let's just get this over with. It's not like I'll do any more damage to this world then these jackasses." Raditz mumbled
Shizen nodded in approval. "Gohan while me and Raditz finish off the troops I want you to take Yubi back to the ship and get him into a stasis pod, he's in rough shape." Shizen said stating the obvious. With the orders given the two groups split ready for the final leg of their mission.
The situation was grim on the outskirts of the nearly ruined city. Purple blasts were incinerating more buildings by the second, and the only fighter with the strength to stop the destruction was just as likely to destroy what was left in the process.
'Purging is so much simpler.' He thought to himself, mentally chafing under the conditions imposed upon him. He took a deep breath, right now he couldn't let that matter to him. He was a Saiyan warrior, the last pure-blooded Saiyan warrior, and he was about to show the universe his true might. A smirk came to his face as he channeled the necessary energy to form the moon-ball. Giving his commander a quick nod, and receiving one on return he unleashed it into the sky.
Raditz's body was growing, red hot rage surging upwards like stormy waves of the ocean. He felt the all too familiar sensation of his mind ebbing away, he was just about to give himself over to the release of losing himself when he felt telekinetic grips on his mind. 'Not today, you've got a mission. Focus Raditz you can do it. Just like we practiced.' Shizen encouraged as the storm inside began to subside.
Raditz, now fully in his Oozaru form smirked as he gave his commander a nod before heading off into the city. Today he could truly call himself a Saiyan Elite, and unfortunately for the Elites attacking this world, surviving a fight against a Saiyan Elite was a feat very few could claim.
When the dust had settled, the local government prepared a feast to thank the warriors who had saved their world. Like every other mission they had been on though, their 'benevolent' commander arrived as soon as the celebrations were to begin denying the rightful heroes of their reward.
It had come to be expected as such by each of them, and so instead of sticking around to pick up whatever scrapes were left for them, the squad did what they always would when they were in too rough of shape to train, packed up and head back to base.
As they were all entering their ship though Shizen suddenly pulled Raditz aside to talk to him privately.
"Raditz what I am about to say you is to be repeated to no one do you understand." Shizen began when they were out of earshot, the Kanassan's voice barely above a whisper.
Raditz could immediately tell it was something serious likely a vision that had to do with him, "Sure, I'll keep quiet." Raditz responded truthfully, he owed his commander that much at least.
"There is a great evil coming, a creature of darkness more powerful than I ever imagined possible in my wildest dreams. It could squash you, me, that idiot Pyros, and Frieza's entire family as easily as you can squash an ant. The entire universe will be doomed." He paused to let that sink in with the Saiyan warrior for a moment.
Raditz heard what Shizen had said, but he was having trouble processing it, the idea of there being someone powerful enough to squash Frieza didn't make any sense to him. 'They would've acted by now. Besides could the really be worse to the universe than Frieza?' were the arguments that made the most sense to him.
Sensing that Raditz wasn't going to respond any time soon, Shizen continued, "There is only one fighter who will have the strength to fight against it, and give us a glimmer of hope."
Raditz's response was immediate "Who?" His voice betraying the fear he felt. As much as it didn't make sense he had to admit to himself, none of Shizen's visions had ever been wrong before.
"Your nephew." Shizen responded as Raditz's eyes widened in shock, his nephew was supposed to be powerful enough to crush Frieza like an insect. That was hard to believe, even with the child's incredible ability to summon extra strength.
Finally Raditz found his voice inspiration striking him, "How long do we have to prepare?" the fight being decades away was the only thing that could make sense.
"A while, not as far into the future as you would think." Shizen vaguely replied. He tended to keep his warning about the future vaguer than Raditz would prefer.
"What's that supposed to mean. Are we talking months, years, decades?" His voice revealing his frustration.
"I would say years would be appropriate, maybe a couple decades if we're lucky." was the response he was given.
"How the hell am we suppose to prepare if we don't have a timeline!" Raditz shouted tired of Shizen treating this like a game all of a sudden, only to receive a dangerous glare from the resident psychic himself. "Uh...sorry sir." His apology much closer to the near whisper Shizen had been using.
"I'm not keeping the information from you because I want to. I actually don't know the specific timeline. The vision I saw was of you and Gohan facing down the beast in a barren wasteland. The rest of the vision was your nephew fighting the monster. Your Saiyan physiology makes it difficult to even make a guess at your ages, at the time. Besides… they were moving so fast...I couldn't follow their movements" Shizen's voice was nearly trembling from awe at the end as he thought back to the battle.
Raditz stood still, thinking over his next question, "Are you and the rest of the squad there?"
"No we're not. When the boy's fight begins you and he are the only ones left standing on the planet. Apparently there were other fighters who tried to fight the beast, warriors of similar titanic proportions, but they had all perished by the time you and he arrive and the battle begins" Shizen explained.
"Are you dead?" Raditz asked slightly unsure if he wanted to know the answer.
"I don't know." Shizen replied his face not betraying even a hint of emotion.
Raditz stood silent again for a moment before asking, "Do we win?"
Shizen let out a sigh, I don't know. The way the vision ended leads me to believe that future is in flux beyond that point. Any action taken now could directly influence that future, which is why I decided to tell you. This mission is your number one priority Raditz. Keep the boy alive, do whatever you deem necessary to keep his power growing, even if you have to raze a thousand worlds to accomplish it. In the long run, that is a small price to pay when we're talking about the fate of the universe."
Raditz couldn't believe he was hearing what he thought he was hearing. Just what kind of creature was coming?
Before he could ask though Shizen began again. "Please if possible keep Gohan's future a secret. If you place that burden on him now, he will burn out long before the battle can even take place. He won't be the warrior I saw fighting, but instead nothing more than the shadow of his potential, and be tossed aside like a ragdoll."
Raditz nodded. "I guess I don't have a choice. I want to survive after all and if you think this is our best chance for surviving I'll do it." Raditz responding trying to sound resolute in his decision, his voice though betrayed him, revealing just a hint of the fear Shizen had previously detected.
"Good. Let's get going then." Shizen said as he started to make his way over to the ship again. When Raditz caught up to him he spoke one last time. "By the way Raditz I want you to remember this you have my permission. Ingrain that into your memory so when the time comes you'll remember." Shizen immediately picked up his pace signaling he was done talking on the subject.
"What the hell does that mean?" Raditz said his voice rising, not quite to a yell but louder than it was before.
"You'll know when the time comes, just remember your life and by extension the fate of the universe depends on it." Shizen muttered as he entered his pod leaving a now irritated Raditz to ponder what his commander's cryptic message could mean.
(A few days later)
"Lord Cooler." A heavily accented voice submissively said with a bow. "I have zome distrezzing newz."
The purple Frost Demon gave a slight nod indicating to continue.
"It zeemz the team of elitez zent to help accelerate our gainz in the ztar cluzter 248 have fallen out of contact like the rezt of the teamz we have zent." Salza explained.
"Is that so...it seems we have underestimated the natives then, either that or there has been a unified resistance formed." Cooler's voice was surprisingly calm as he thought out loud.
"With your permizzion my Lord we'll take care of theze peztz within a week." Salza offered.
"No. Send Ginyu and his team to deal with the backwaters. Your team has more important work at the moment, they're closer to the location as it is." Cooler decided immediately.
With that the orders were sent and the Ginyu Force rerouted to their new mission at once, much to Ginyu's ever increasing annoyance.
A shriek of agony echoed through the canyon. "Why!" An orange avian soldier rough voice cried. "We've served Frieza faithfully for so long. Why did he send you to kill us?" It continued much to Vegeta's annoyance.
"I already told you bird brains once. We no longer serve Frieza, he's dead. Besides I have no interest in killing creatures as weak as you. I came here for information but so far your service has been less than satisfactory." The Saiyan Prince growled.
Nappa decided maybe to up the pressure on the avian warrior and added in. "Just give us what we came for and we won't level what's left of this trash heap. Deal?" he said sarcastically
The avian warrior's fist tightened, he had seen too many of his people slaughtered already though. "Fine, fine we'll do whatever you want, just leave us alone." He begged.
"That's what I like to hear." Nappa said with a smirk that remained even after Vegeta gave him a bone chilling glare.
"I want information all your information on attacks against Planet Trade bases in sectors 15-30 in the last 6 standard months, additionally I want a list of known resistance groups in that region as well." Vegeta ordered as the few surviving soldiers in the planet rushed from the canyon outside the base to fulfill Vegeta's demands.
It only took a few minutes before The Saiyans had all the information they needed. Only one base had actually been attacked during that timeframe. There had been no survivors, but there were reports of giant foot prints. It didn't take a genius to put two and two together. That coupled with the second piece of information Vegeta had the locals looked up, gave him the location of his targets. As he had suspected Raditz had followed their bug-out plan to the letter. Finally he could scoop up Kakarot's son and finally get the warrior who had robbed him of his destiny home, and squeeze the secrets of achieving the legend out of him.
He had waited long enough, originally he figured his rival would return when the Dragon was summoned, but after the fiasco with Namekian set of Dragon Balls, he learned the truth. Kakarot would not come home until his son was found. Prompting Vegeta and Nappa to go on this little trip through Planet Trade Space.
"There we did what you asked. Now then please leave us in peace." The Planet trade governor of the world begged again, only to take a step back in fear when he saw Vegeta's malevolent smirk.
"Oh don't worry, we'll leave you at peace, in a sense."
It only took the Saiyan duo a few minutes to wipe out all of the Planet Trade soldier's stationed on the world. Anything to accelerate break down the source of his enslavement for nearly his entire life was a worthy endeavor in his mind.
Nappa though was unconformable after the carnage had ended. Every time he made a kill, he saw them growing in numbers, the hands that had dragged him down. It reminded him 'They' were waiting for him, waiting to drag him back down to oblivion once more.
"Move it Nappa, the sooner we get this done the better." Vegeta called as the giant moved on autopilot back to their ship. His mind still busy pushing the hands that haunted him from his thoughts.
"Wow King Kai this is amazing! That would keep me and Chi Chi stocked up with firewood forever." Goku shouted up to the sky as he stared at a tree as large as a small moon. He'd never seen anything like it in his entire life.
"What in the heavens!" King Kai shouted back unable to believe his antennae. A world, one he had checked in on within the last few months was now completely barren. 'How...how could this happen... Cratz was a beautiful trading hub just 5...no 4 months ago when I checked in on it.' King Kai thought still trying to come to terms with the complete devastation he was seeing. All life on the planet, seemed as if it had been completely drained away. The only sign that there had ever been life on the world was the massive tree bulging from its equator. To make things even stranger, he was sure there wasn't a tree that big anyway in that entire sector last time he had turned his antennae that direction.
"Goku...I have a bad feeling about that tree. I can't help but feel I've seen something like it before. I want you to be prepared for anything when you make your jumps from now on."
Instead of answering Goku had ignored his mentor's warning, and instead delivered a punch to its trunk using all of his might.
The bark, and dead wood beneath the behemoth splintered reluctantly, finally splitting all the way through like every other tree Goku had attacked since he was a child.
The boom of the monstrosity of a tree hitting the ground shook the entire planet.
"It's ok King Kai, it's just a normal tree." Goku responded, much to King Kai's chagrin.
"Goku…you do that on purpose don't you…" King Kai muttered to himself, in all of his years as guardian of this quadrant he had never had a more misbehaving pupil.
Goku "Not sure what you mean King Kai, anyway can we pick it up after we get to the next planet. There are a lot left to search and I don't want to let Chi Chi down." Goku asked as he awaited the next coordinates from the Kai turned galactic GPS system.
"The nerve…" King Kai muttered to himself as he began to search for the next world for his pupil to jump to. The only reason he hadn't started ignoring him was the fact Goku had already done such a great deed by getting rid of Frieza. "Ok turn left, focus about 2 light years away. Yes go to that one next."
"Got it. Thank King Kai." Goku replied, in a flash he was gone, leaving the dead world with the mysterious giant stump silent again.

Something I touched on a few chapters back, I made a poll about who everyone's favorite character has been in the story so far and I realize now that I never put a link to it here, so here you go everyone if you feel like voting you can vote. Otherwise I would love to hear about what you think so far about anything about the story, this chapter, a specific character, whatever really in a review. u/4408825/Brelic# The button for the poll is at the top.
I'm just gunna get straight into the reviews now so I will hopefully have time to get this chapter up tonight.

Yes Garlic Jr. will make an appearance in the story fairly soon.

Okay, that was a little anticlimactic end, but it's basically just a filler arch so I guess it's fine.
well Mr. Popo's wish, in this story, was to revive everyone killed by frieza and his men, and the reason the dragon can't is because it's too many, So they reduce it to just the people that died in the year and the dragon can no problem, meaning the dragon could of revived people passed that date because if he couldn't then the number would have been the same and still unwishable. So it's not stated but the implication is there.
Sorry about the ending of the last chapter not being so great, I guess I probably shouldn't do one day chapters lol, doesn't leave me with too much strength left for proofreading at the end I guess.
Fair points wish, i'm sorry I didn't set up that wish sequence better, I will keep my eye out for that in the future to keep it more consistent. It is my intention that no one who has been dead for more than a year can be brought back.

Wow, tht was a pleasant surprise seeing this chapter uploaded
Hmm so now back to the gohan arc.
Update soon
Glad you enjoyed the quick turn around, unfortunately I wasn't able to replicate that feat lol. It is pretty tough to write a whole chapter in just 1 day of sitting on the couch lol. Yup Gohan's arc being finished is next on the agenda.
super mystic gohan-
nice ending to lord slug haha nappa came in an beat his ass! hoppfully yamcha will see his error and train harder and wow chi-chi came far and strong so tien cant wait to see more hoppfully the next chapter will be out quick again.
Yeah I like to have Nappa come play hero from time to time with his Oozaru form. Yamcha is already stronger than his canon counterpart at this point, with a bit of a better work ethic too since he was forced to train under Piccolo for a while, but being as dedicated to his training as Tien and Chi Chi just isn't in his personality. He will stay stronger than canon though.
P.s. Sorry i couldn't get the chapter out fast again like you had asked.

Just wanna start out by apologizing...is it to late? Lol. But anyways, so I randomly typed in dbz fanfiction and the first story to pop up was yours. I read all thirty in these last two or three days i suppose. The plot of this whole story is outstanding, amazing really. Unlike many other long and detailed fanfics, this story is dramatic and very interesting to read. Also your style of writing really brings the characters to life. It's very enjoyable to read almost like watching it as an anime. The way each character has a role is very cool and how you integrated so many characters into the plot. I imagine this was difficult. Overall this, and I've read many, has been my favorite of any fanfiction I have read, and not just for dbz. I'm sorry for being such a kiss ass or whatever but I'm just so amazed by how cool this story is. Imagine if all the elements and plot ideas of your story had been implemented into dbz when he wrote it? It would be a whole different series. Idk dude...Your story is epic enough said. I expect high quality from you after 30 chapters of awesome, however with all of that said, even if you slacked off your work so far could leave me content. Have a wonderful day and keep your great story going bro.
Hey there, no need to apologize I will take reviews anytime for any chapter. So thanks for the review :). Wow that is a lot of reading to do in just a couple of days, I commend you for that. I'm very glad to hear you are enjoying the story, I'm glad that the hard work I put into the story is showing through to you when it reads. As for the watching the anime part, I like to imagine the entire chapter playing out in my head like in the show as I write it so I am glad you got to watch it in your head too lol.
It is pretty tough to balance all of the characters for sure, I always feel like I am unintenionally slighting some character somewhere without realizing it. I think it is awesome that Culture Shock is your favorite fan fiction, it means a lot to me to hear that.
Yeah if DBZ did it would definately be a different story, hopefully some of the inconsistencies that appear would be covered etc, though I think DBZ is awesome the way it is as well.
I'm glad your expectations are high, I hope to continue to live up to them. I hope you have a great day too.

what, so was chaozu not brought back? because krillin was in that fight and the numekian dragon can only bring back one person at a time and has only three wishes. two of the wishes were uses by slug.
Yeah I blatantly screwed Chiaotzu this chapter for being a nice guy. It was on purpose though and does have a role in the story, albeit a small role, it helps me with something later on a bit.
Alright everyone, I hope you all enjoyed the chapter. Thanks again to all of you for your continued support in your reviews and just by reading the story, you all rock!
