Chapter 64
Jamie could tell that her husband didn't understand what she was talking about, that he didn't have a clue what was going through her mind and why she was feeling so guilty. She truly believed that if she had found a way to get Shane off her back a lot earlier than there would be no way her babies would be going through what they were now. She knew that this was her fault, she just knew it clear to her soul and she knew that her husband didn't see it that way at all.
"Jaime, this is not your fault and don't you dare sit there and try and say that I don't understand where you are coming from." Hunter said as he wiped the tears off her face.
" But, if I had found a way to get Shane away from me…" Jamie started but her husband stopped her, making it clear that he didn't want to hear her talk that way.
"Shane is responsible for his own actions and if everything that he did is the cause of this, then he is the horrible person who is the cause of our sons being in the NICU, not you." Hunter said softly as he kissed her forehead. "Look, why don't you get some sleep and then when you wake up, if you start feeling somewhat better, than maybe, we can go and see the twins again and you can see if maybe you want to let your sons hear mommy's voice and feel her gentle touch." Hunter murmured.
Jamie couldn't believe how amazing her husband was and that she had finally found the man of her dreams and they had two kids together, two babies that were fighting for their lives and she hadn't been the mother that they needed, she had turned her back on her sons when they needed the comfort from their mother the most.
"Oh my… what have I done?" She whispered in horror.
"Baby?" Hunter asked her confused.
"I need to go back and see them. I need to tell them that mommy loves them and that I am so sorry I didn't say it when I was there. I can't just leave it like that." Jamie said, trying to get out of bed, desperate now.
"No you don't. We can't go back right this minute, but we can go back later on today, don't worry about it." Hunter said as he gave his wife a gentle smile, now he was seeing the woman he loved more than anything in the world.
Shane was fuming, he was so close to having her decide to walk away from Hunter and those two babies, so close to finding a way to get her to come to him. He knew that Hunter was getting through to her, had broken through but that just meant he was going to have to play hardball. Deep down he knew that what he was considering doing was so horrible that he should be alarmed, but he knew that a big part of him had gone away a long time ago, and now the Shane that was left behind, was someone different. Shane was tired of having to explain himself and what he felt to other people, he knew that his sister, Stephanie, was worried about him but it didn't matter to him any longer, because he felt like it was time that he really make his mark and it was time he get the woman of his dreams, Jamie.
"Soon, no one will be able to come between us and there will be nothing and no one that can make you stay here, there will be no one keeping us from being together forever." He murmured under his breath and decided it was time to look at how tight security was around the hospital, it was time to put his biggest and worst plan into action, if this one failed, well, there was a chance he would either die trying on this plan or something else would happen to him, this could be his final hope of having Jamie all to himself. Now he just needed to know if his plan would be carried out at the hospital or somewhere else.
Jamie had a horrible feeling as she was gently stroking her son's arm. She looked over and saw Hunter smiling and whispering to their other son, both of whom still had no names, She wasn't sure what was bothering her, but she had knew something was about to happen and it might be something that could devastate her and so many other people, she just knew deep in her soul, someone was about to suffer.
"Jamie, babe, what's the matter?" Hunter asked, a frown on his face as he stared at her.
"I don't know, I just know something is wrong, something is off." Jamie said, whispering as she stared at the man who would always own her, heart and soul, he would always be the love of her life and nothing and no one could change that.
After spending a few hours in the NICU with their sons, they were back at Jamie's room. She was going to be discharged but the twins wouldn't be allowed to leave just yet, but they were getting stronger and the doctor was optimistic that it could be sooner than they thought. When they were back at her room, packing her things up and waiting till she was allowed to get dressed and the doctor confirmed discharge papers, Tyler burst into the room, and she didn't not look well.
"What's the matter?" Jamie asked, dread feeling her entire body.
"My baby boy, AJ, someone took him." Tyler said, her voice quivering as she stared at her best friend and felt her entire soul shattering into pieces.
"What happened? Do they know who took him? Where is Adam?" Hunter asked jumping to his feet as he looked around for Edge, Tyler's husband.
"I don't know what happened, no one does and as for where my husband is, he left late last night for some WWE thing and no one can find him now, and when I called the WWE they said that they never called him…" Tyler trailed off as she saw the knowledge in Jamie's eyes. "It's him isn't it?" She whispered, her heart breaking.
Jamie knew deep down that Shane had both Adam and Adam Jr. Jamie wasn't sure why he had taken those two, but she could guess what this was all about. Jamie looked at her husband and could see the worry and the concern, he knew that she would have to go and talk to Shane, and this time, if he had really snapped, there was a chance he could decide to hurt or kill her, just to make sure that she couldn't belong to anyone but Shane.
"I know what you are thinking but don't you dare. You just had twins and you have been through too much, you can't fight him right now, you can't do this." Hunter said desperately.
"I have to, this is my fault, he took them because of me and now I have to bring them home safely." Jamie said softly.
A few hours later, Jamie was pacing and wincing at the same time back at home. She and Hunter had not wanted to leave the twins at the hospital, but they had been assured they would be safe and security was tight. Hunter called and checked in almost every hour and the plan was that he would head back there in the morning, and Jamie would go with if things had gotten better, which was unlikely. Jamie had tried to call Shane but he wasn't answering his phone and he wasn't returning any of her messages, at least not yet, which was why she was pacing and wincing. Tyler was sitting in a chair, pale and shaking, and Jamie couldn't blame her, her young son and her husband were missing, Jamie had no idea how she would feel or handle it, if Hunter and the twins were out there with Shane somewhere.
Just as Jamie was about to give up, the phone rang and she picked it up, hoping that she could finally talk some sense into the man that she had no feelings for, the man who was tormenting her and slowly destroying her entire life, piece by piece.
"Hello dear." Shane's voice came over the line but it sounded different, almost like he had suffered a complete psychotic break and he wasn't thinking like himself any longer, which made the situation even more dangerous.
"Shane, where is Adam and Jr.?" Jamie asked, keeping her voice calm.
"They are at the hospital now, they were just my ruse, I needed everyone focused elsewhere and it worked. Did you name our babies yet?" Shane asked, his voice sounding somewhat faraway as she heard crying in the background.
Jamie's heart dropped as she started to realize what he was saying. She had to repeat it outloud so that Tyler and Hunter could hear what was being said, and they could call the hospital and check it out. "You dropped Adam and Jr., off at the hospital and now you have the twins?" Jamie asked and she could see the shock, confusion and then panic enter her husband's eyes as he dialed the hospital. It wasn't long until she could see the confirmation on his face. She could see the relief but also the sympathy on Tyler's face. Jamie mouthed for her friend to go, to head to the hospital and see the two most important people in her life, and that left Jamie and Hunter alone, on the phone with someone who sounded broken and that man had their twin sons who needed medical care for being born so early.
"You haven't named them, I think it's amazing that we have two boys, dad will be so proud to have grandsons." Shane murmured and Jamie's terror level rose, this was really bad.
"Shane, what do you want?" Jamie asked him, her heart was racing and she could see the pale features of her husband.
"You will come to me, just you, alone, and from there, as a family, you, me and our boys, we will talk some things out." Shane said and Jamie knew she had no choice, she would do anything for her sons, and a part of her was so sure that this was a trap and possibly one she wouldn't make it out of alive, but if there was a chance that her sons might, she had to go and she had to try.
Shane knew she was coming, he knew that she was fighting with her husband at that very moment but it didn't matter. He was a father and in the end, his protectiveness for his twin sons would win out and Hunter would have to allow Jamie to come to him. Shane knew his actions were extreme but he was only getting started. He was well aware of the medical things that were wrong with the twins, the nurses had even slipped in supplies to take care of the babies when he had taken them, but it didn't matter, he wasn't going to do anything for them, they were a piece of his woman and another man, they weren't his kids, they looked nothing like him, so, it was time that Jamie learn the price of her rejections and her horrible choices, he wasn't sure what the plan was going to be, but he knew that when it was over, his soon to be wife would be so broken that he would have complete control over everything that had to do with her, and her failure to protect the twins would make her never want to face Hunter again, and he was going to help that come true, he didn't think the Levesque twins were getting out of this one alive, no matter how young they were.
Shane laughed evily, ignoring all the signs that he had lost his mind. There was going to be a showdown, and this showdown was going to show everyone, including the woman who belonged to him, exactly who they should never mess with, Shane McMahon.
