Authors Note: Thank you everyone for your patience. I have been very ill, and have had several surgeries and have been low on energy. I have gotten my mojo to write back though and I am going to try and update a lot faster and a lot more than I have been. I think since I am stuck in bed trying to get better, I am going to be able to write a bit more. I think this story is about done anyway, anyone who wants a sequel to it should let me know, otherwise when it's done, it will be done. Thanks to everyone who has been reading!

Chapter 65

Jamie was shaking as she finally arrived where she was supposed to. She had brought some things for the twins, some clothes and diapers and things, wanting to make sure the twins would be warm and taken care of. Hunter had argued with her as he helped her pack up the bags that she had needed to bring, he had begged her not to go and in the end, even he had seen this was the only way for her to get to their sons, and the only chance that their newborn sons had. They were completely helpless against someone like Shane, and if he had a complete breakdown, then Jamie was going to need to use everything she had, everything she could, to try and get through to him, to make him see he was wrong on this, that he needed some serious mental help. Jamie wasn't sure how far this was going to go, but she was prepared to do whatever was necessary, even give her life if needed, to protect her sons and give them a fighting chance at a life, even if it was one that wouldn't include her as their mother in their future.

Jamie could hear the twins crying and knew they had to be so hungry and so she got out and walked up to the door with the bags. She saw Shane open the door with an angry look on his face, almost like he was annoyed with how the twins were being.

"Shut the brats up, now!" Shane snapped at her.

Jamie rushed in and got to the twins. She immediately changed their diapers and she started feeding them. After she had done everything, including burp them and make sure that they were safe and warm, she slowly turned back to the man she loathed more than anything in this world. "Why would you do this to them? They need to be at the hospital, with their nurses and doctors, where they can get the medical care they need." Jamie said, keeping her voice soft as to not upset him too much.

"Shut up!" He snapped at her again. It was clear he was completely gone, he was pacing back and forth and muttering under his breath, but it was the gun in his hand that really caught Jamie's attention. Shane wasn't the same Shane from before, it was very clear to her that he had crossed some sort of a line in his mind and now it was uncrossable.

"You're in charge, what do you want?" Jamie asked after a few minutes of silence.

"What do I want? That's a laughable question! What have I wanted for so long? I don't understand you, I am always going to be worth more money than that lug head, I am always going to be the better looking guy and I am always going to love you more than he ever could. Why wouldn't you ever look at me? Why wouldn't you give me a real chance to win your heart?" Shane asked her, shaking the gun at her.

"Shane, the heart wants what it wants. Hunter is the man I love more than anything, I am not going to lie to you or pretend. I met Hunter and I just knew it, deep down I knew it, that we were meant to be together. I am sorry that you got hurt in all of this, and I am sorry that you chose me over someone who was single and available. I am sure there were plenty of women who would have been so thrilled to have you as their boyfriend or something more, but you wouldn't back off on me, even though I am a happily married woman and more than just being a wife, I am a mother." Jamie was keeping her voice as soft as she could, hoping she might find a way to get through to him, she knew it was a long shot but she had to do what she could, she had to keep trying.

Shane started muttering under his breath and pacing, Jamie could see he was thinking and all she could do was hope that he would come to his senses and see that this wasn't going to work the way that he wanted it to, that he had no chance at all of having her love him, of them being a real couple.

Hunter felt powerless and completely and utterly helpless. He had kissed his wife and begged her, begged her like he swore he would never beg anyone, to come home to him safely. He had helped her pack things for their sons, hoping they would still be alive and have a chance when his wife got there, but he knew that if Shane had gone this far that he had lost it. Stephanie had arrived, her head hanging down and sadness in her eyes and Hunter knew that the McMahon family had no idea that Shane had snapped like this. Stephanie had told him that Vince and Linda were on their way out here and that they were willing to do whatever they could to help out, to make sure that Jamie and the twins were returned safely and that the boys got all the medical care they would need. Hunter couldn't blame them completely for what was happening to Shane, but he had to wonder what would cause him to completely lose touch with reality and what was right and wrong, what had happened in Shane's life that had caused this to go down like this?

"I really am sorry about all of this Hunter." Stephanie said softly, tears were still falling from her eyes.

"I know Steph." Hunter said, he couldn't say anything more, his focus on the phone and needing to hear his wife's voice telling him that she and the boys were safe, that everything was going to be all right.

Jamie wasn't sure how she knew it, but she knew that Shane wasn't going to see reason, that he wasn't going to let her take the twins and leave that place. She felt a pain in her chest as she realized that there was a real possibility that something really bad was going to happen and it hurt her to think that her boys might lose their mother, might never really know them and she would never get to name them, never get to even know anything about them. Jamie took a slow breath and waited until Shane was now facing her.

"Shane, you need to let me take my boys and leave." Jamie said, keeping her voice as soft as possible.

Shane slowly turned and faced her, the gun was pointing in her direction and he cocked his head to the side as he stared at her. "No one said you were in charge, who said you would get to decide anything?" Shane asked her, he had a look in his eyes that told her that the evil in him had completely taken over at that point.

"Shane, you need to stop this now while you still have a chance." Jamie said, she could hear a car pulling up and so did Shane. Jamie watched as he went to the window and glanced out, and then his face transformed and it was clear that whoever it was that was out there only made him angrier.

Outside in the driveway, two people got out of the first car that arrived and waited as another car pulled up. When they were all ready they slowly started heading for the building but before they got to the porch they heard gunshots and crying from inside, they could hear the blasts and they could see the flashes and their hearts all dropped in terror at what could have just happened inside there.
