Chapter 46: A True Test of Strength
It had been a boring day for Sgt. Mop, as was every day that he was on duty. He sighed to himself, 'I guess I shouldn't complain, getting this cushy job, with so many benefits." His heart began to beat slightly faster at the thought of said benefits, as his mind drifted away to how he would spend his next day off.
He didn't even noticed the new signal blinking on the radar until the alarm sounded, signaling an unidentified object entering the planet's atmosphere. "Shit!" He shouted.
Quickly he grabbed his radio, "Commander we have a ship refusing my attempts to establish contact with them." Sgt. Mop quickly lied, hoping to shift the blame of this incident on whatever poor supply ship Captain was now descending towards the surface.
"What? You called me for that? I said I didn't want to be disturbed!" The Commander shouted back, "If you contact me again for anything besides a real emergency I will hang your head on my wall." The Commander shouted back before cutting the line.
Sgt. Mop let out a sigh of relief. Before watching the dot continue to descend, then veering off of the normal path.
"What the…" Sgt. Mop suddenly had a bad feeling as the ship landed in the dense forests just outside the main base.
"Alright boys, let's have some fun before we plant the tree. Whatever you do make sure you keep the communication systems intact. I want these spineless bastards calling out to every base in the galaxy for help." Turles ordered; his entire body felt like it was on fire with anticipation.
When he received an affirmative from his men, they all shot across the surface looking for anything to interest them while they waited to plant the Tree of Might.
While here was here there was only one thing Gohan wanted to do, besides get his usual boost from the Tree of Might, and that was take out as many of the monsters working for Frieza as he could. They were among the only creatures in the universe he had no sympathy towards.
Without slowing down at all Gohan crashed through the main barracks where the Planet Trade soldiers had gathered to begin planning their offensive.
"Shit." Raditz shouted as he speed up to his limit, Gohan might've gotten more powerful but he was going to get himself killed.
Before he could reach the Barracks though a figure appeared in front of him, seemingly out of thin air. "Hold up Raditz. I want go see what the kid can do." Turles ordered a smirk on his face as he looked down through the hole in the roof as Gohan got started.
The entire group stared at him in silence. Unsure why a child had just crashed through their roof. Gohan cleared up the confusion a second later when he made his announcement. "You're evil ends here." He shouted much to the amusement of the soldier's in the room.
Gohan wasted no time beginning his assault as he delivered a jaw snapping kick to the closest Planet Trade soldier's face; sending its lifeless body spinning away. Immediately the laughter died out.
"Why you little punk! Who do you think you are?" The largest fighter shouted as he rushed forward intending to smash Gohan's skull with his bare hands.
The massive fighter was left confused though as his grasp passed through Gohan's after-image.
The child's angry scream rang out behind him a second later as the child unleashed a massive blast into the fighters back, completely vaporizing him in an instant.
The rest of the room was silent for a moment, shock keeping them all from moving. Gohan slowly turned around, and the second his eyes looked their direction the entire platoon dispersed. Fleeing as fast as they could move.
Gohan though had no intention of letting any of the planet killing monsters escape and quickly began work eliminating the potential future threats.
Turles and Raditz watched on as Gohan shredded the fleeing ranks of the Planet Trade garrison like a predator trapped in a bird coup.
The carnage was the epitome of the perfect Saiyan mentality. The child seemed to be lost in his fight, yet at the same time in perfect control. His attacks perfectly placed due to the large difference in power between him and the fighters surrounding him.
"Well the kid seems to have things perfectly in control. He's acting a lot more like a Saiyan than he was on that last planet too." Turles commented with a smirk.
"Yeah he really doesn't like the Planet Trade." Raditz replied stating the obvious absentmindedly.
"Yes I can see that...well enough of watching the kid have all the fun." Turles muttered before launching away to do something more entertaining than watching Gohan ripping through the last few Planet Trade soldiers in this section of the base.
Raditz though continued to watch, remembering Shizen's warning to keep the child safe at all costs.
Within a few hours the last soldiers on the base had been slaughtered. The only structure left standing on the surface was the communications tower, sending out the last desperate mayday signal to any and all Planet Trade forces in the region on repeat. The operator's mangled bodies left to rot where they fell.
In the distance the Tree of Might had sprouted, already draining the once vibrant planet of its impressive life-force.
(Across the galaxy)
Salza's eyes were wide as he listened to the reports coming in one last time. 'Lord Cooler will not be pleazed…' He thought to himself before gulping and making his way towards his master's throne room. It had been a trying last few days, with the rightful ruler of the galaxy being denied his post, at least temporarily by his distant relatives. The report he had to give him would only further try his patience.
"Lord Cooler, I am zorry to bother you zir, but I have newz you zhould know." Salza said with a bow.
Cooler's throne turned slowly around a dangerous glint in his eye. "Yes, get on with it."
"It appearz that your perzonal world...Cooler planet 69 fell under attack and haz been occupied…" Salza said his head bowing lower with each word.
Cooler was silent for a moment. The words not really connecting with him at first. Finally though they connect and the Frost Demon rose from his throne walking straight towards Salza.
Salza's heart was beating fast, faster than it ever had before. Cooler didn't have a history of killing loyal soldiers as long as they didn't fail miserably and could prove themselves useful. But considering his family's history the fear was there all the same.
Cooler finally came to stop before Salza. Still completely silent. Then without warning, he flicked his hand. A telekinetic wall of energy crashed into Salza pinning him against the throne room wall. "Now then you said my personal world was under attack, and has already been occupied?" Cooler's voice was icy cold.
"Yez...zire..." Salza managed his chest struggling to bring air in.
Cooler was silent again for a moment trying to get better control of himself. He knew exactly who had attacked his world. It didn't take a genius to figure out that his killing of one of his father's wives wouldn't sit well with the entire council. Having a world as important as this fall would only serve to destabilize his claim as the rightful heir to his father's throne.
Finally Cooler dropped his telekinetic power holding Salza in place.
"Zire, please allow me to have the honor of retaking thiz world for you and punizhing thoze responzible." Salza said instantly kneeling attempting to appease his leader.
"No...I want the armor squadron with me while we hunt my father's killer. Contact the Ginyu Force, they're closer to the planet any way." Cooler appeared to have mostly regained his cool head at this point. His tail twitching the only outward sign of his irritation.
"Yez, zir." Salza said with a bow before rushing to make the arrangements.
Cooler just continued to try and swallow his anger as he returned to his throne, making a mental list of the nobles most likely to be bold enough to make such a foolish move against him. Upon his coronation he would personally interrogate each of them until he was certain he had found the culprit. Then he would give the ones responsible the slow deaths they deserved for crossing him.
Ginyu body shook with rage for a moment before forcing it down, as he was forced too much too often lately. "Men...we're blowing up the planet and getting out of here." Ginyu muttered as he looked at careful job his men had done in destroying the cities of the rebel world without destroying the environmental value of the world.
"Really Capt'n?" Jeice asked mortified.
"Yes...that smug bastard Salza says to blow it up and take care of some pest that messed up Cooler's pleasure planet…" Ginyu was barely able to avoid snarling at his second in command.
Silently the overworked shock troops gathered their things and made their way back to their pods, mentally preparing themselves to spend yet another week trapped in the tiny sphere.
Within a minute they were high in the atmosphere, Ginyu passed his ship's ascent and exited the pod. The only air available to him was what he could trap with him using his aura. "Milky Cannon!" He shouted as he threw a massive concentrated ball of energy down at the planet. Not even pausing to watch the world detonate before re-entering his pod and starting his path to their next mission.
(1 week later)
"Hey Captain just how much longer are we going to wait on this mud ball?" Diaz asked, clearly bored with the situation.
Turles stared off into the distance as he bit into the last of the Tree of Might fruit the planet had made for him. It had been their richest harvest yet, which meant his power had grown even further. The fact only his two Saiyan comrades had eaten their fruit before he could hustle it away from them only further increased his gain from this world. If there was any doubt he could take on the likes of Frieza or his family before, those doubts were now nothing but distant memories. Now he just wanted a good fight. "We'll give it another day or two and then move onto some our next planet." Turles dismissed his second in command with a wave of his hand.
"Sir!" Raditz suddenly rushed out of the ship. "Another wave of Planet Trade ships incoming." The long haired Saiyan eagerly reported. He too was growing bored on the world and was ready to test out his full strength.
"Good, hopefully they've started taking our little attack seriously and have sent us something more entertaining than the last batch of 'Elites'." Turles said with a smirk as he pressed the button on his scouter, just in time for the 4 balls to light up the atmosphere.
Silently he took in the four numbers, and immediately recognized who the Planet Trade had sent after them. "Boys, looks like we're in luck. The Planet Trade decided to finally start taking us seriously. The Ginyu Force is here." Turles declared with a smirk of excitement.
Pyros' fist was shaking, not with excitement, but with fear. 'Why'd it have to be the Ginyu Force.' He thought to himself. 'Why couldn't that bastard have at least given me a bite of that fruit before sending me out here…' his mind continued to spin. He still couldn't believe Turles had sent him, Diaz, and Cacao as the opening act in a fight against a team of the strongest fighters in the galaxy. Turles had even made sure there was no other route for him to escape with. He either had to fight or hope he survived long enough to give Turles a good show.
"Damn they sure did a number on the planet. They didn't even leave the cafeteria standing." Recoome pouted pointing out the obvious, as the Ginyu Force exited their pods.
"Yes it appears… well, what do we have here?" Ginyu started to say before noticing 3 large power levels heading their way.
Within a few seconds three fighters had landed in front of him, all of them had power levels north of 30,000, with 2 of them topping 40,000 easily.
"So you're the fools that attacked Cooler Planet 69 huh?" Ginyu said his tone not asking but deciding.
"Yes we are-" Diaz started to say before Ginyu launched a single blast through his abdomen.
Cacao and Pyros's eyes went wide as the sub-commander for Turles crew fell to the ground, the life leaving his eyes.
"Alright who's next?" Ginyu asked not even really interested in exchanging formalities anymore. Normally he would've let his men take care of these impressive fighters, but he was tired, and killing them quickly might give him his first chance at taking a break, even for a day, in months. Cooler was running him and his men ragged with constant missions. It was the exact opposite of how he had been treated when Frieza was alive. His slavery was just the latest in a long list of reasons why he hated Cooler.
Cacao was the first to recover from the shock, immediately the Cyborg launched forward intending to make Ginyu pay for killing one of his few remaining long term companions, as Pyros stayed rooted in place out of fear.
"Damn it!" Turles shouted as he flared his aura, Ginyu was supposed to let the small fries play it out first, not just kill his men as if they were low level dogs.
In a flash Turles was in the air, cutting through the planet's atmosphere like a comet.
Ginyu's fist lashed out easily piercing the nanotechnology infused armor protecting Cacao's chest and unleashing a massive blast completely boiling his insides.
Pyros still refused to move, his mind racing, trying to find some way to escape this certain death trap.
"Hey Captain, I think I recognize this one." Burter called right before Ginyu could finish the last of the trio off.
"Really from where?" Ginyu replied, somewhat interested that a warrior had survived a past meeting with one of his men.
"On our first mission under Cooler I think...He was the leader of that rebel band we destroyed." Burter replied after a second of thinking. "He used a cowardly trick and escaped." Burter added in.
"Is that so?" Ginyu turned back to Pyros, a particularly vicious look on his face, he had a particular disdain for cowards. "I'll be sure to make sure he dies slowly then." Ginyu added before launching forward.
Time seemed to slow down as Ginyu approached Pyros, the former rebel general's life flashing before his eyes. He could feel Ginyu's fist slowly cracking through his armor and starting to make its way deeper into his body.
Just as Pyros began to let out a scream of agony though Ginyu's fist's advance stopped and rapidly retreated, much to his surprise, and relief.
Instead it was Ginyu who was finding his pain rapidly multiplied instead as his body bent painfully inwards at his stomach. A knee unleashing an unbelievable amount of pressure directly into him, causing blood and spittle to rain out for a brief second, as his body was rapidly accelerated away.
The battlefield was silent for a moment, save for the sound of Pyros collapsing to a knee and coughing. His injury was potentially deadly if left untreated for an extended period of time, but it was nothing a dip in a healing tank wouldn't solve. His mind wasn't focused on that at the moment though, as he looked up at his savior, a look of actual gratitude on face for a brief second as Turles stood over him. The feeling soon vanished though as he remembered who had sent him on the suicide mission to begin with.
"When we're done here, Raditz or Gohan can take you back to one of the tanks while I have a discussion with our guests." Turles spoke with an icy tone, his rage nearly boiling over at the sight of his dead men.
A few dozen meters away behind the three standing members of the Ginyu Force, a bloodied Ginyu slowly rose to his feet. "What the hell was that?" He couldn't help but wheeze, every breath causing him to wince with pain from his now cracked ribs.
"Ca...Capt'n...It's the Saiyan...the Saiyan who killed Lord Frieza." Jeice managed his voice hoarse and his eyes wide with shock.
Burter was similarly shocked at seeing the Saiyan of his nightmares once more.
Ginyu rose fully a fire now burning in his eyes, his pain momentarily forgotten. Standing before him was the Saiyan who had ruined his life.
Turles rage though had given way to confusion. "Frieza's dead?" The Saiyan asked, as if this was the first he had heard of it.
Ginyu paused for a moment as well. "What you didn't know? I thought you were the one who killed him." Ginyu asked, his anger barely kept from his voice, as his mind rushed through a thousand different scenario's trying to figure out what benefit he would have for playing dumb.
Turles smirk turned into a full blown smile. "Well that's fortunate news indeed. It'll make conquering the universe even easier." Turles said with a chuckle. "And as for you suggestion that I killed him, unfortunately that honor goes to someone else." Turles replied a curious look on his face, continuing to suppress his anger. "Why do you think I am the one to have gained such a magnanimous honor of taking down the strongest warrior in the universe?"
Ginyu was silent for a moment he didn't know if he should still be angry or not. This Saiyan was fairly convincing that he wasn't the one to kill Frieza, but his strength and his men's reactions undoubtedly made him the one to have defeated his men. Regardless of whether he was telling the truth or not, the Planet Trade Commander decided to play along for now. "Because you defeated my men on Planet Namek. And Vegeta and his oaf of a body guard were in no shape to fight Lord Frieza, I made sure of it." Ginyu replied watching carefully for any sign of deceit.
"Defeated your men?" Turles asked getting more confused by the minute "I think you have me confused with someone else. I haven't beaten you quite yet." He added with a smirk, though inwardly his mind was trying to fit all the pieces together. Frieza was dead. Apparently killed by a Saiyan, apparently dying when planet Namek was destroyed along with Prince Vegeta and General Nappa. The only two other Saiyans he knew of were supposedly taken out of commission by Ginyu sometime before the fight with Frieza. There was also the matter of the mystery Saiyan who looked like him, and was powerful enough to defeat the Ginyu Force. Clearly he was missing some vital detail because the other Saiyan who had looked like him had been killed by Raditz...unless…
Turles pulled himself from his thoughts as Ginyu and his men finished their protests. Claiming he clearly was the one to defeat them. At that very instant two more pairs of feet touched down behind Turles. "Took you two long enough." Turles said deciding he would investigate the mystery later.
"I'm sorry sir." Raditz apologized quickly. His heart pounding through his chest as he stared down one of the most fearsome team of warriors in the galaxy.
"It doesn't matter." Turles said with a dismissive wave of his hand. "It's time to let loose for a while anyway. So how about this, each side will choose 1 fighter at a time to square off. Until only 1 side is still able to fight." Turles ordered more than suggested.
Ginyu was now finally able to stand. It was a risky proposition, since he and his men currently had the advantage in numbers. But at the same time he couldn't deny having a little longer to regain his strength was an appealing offer after the cheap shot he had taken. "Fine we'll play along for now." Ginyu stated much to Turles' amusement.
"That's the spirit." Turles replied before turning to Raditz. "You're up first."
"Sure." Raditz's eyes were wide, but his body moved automatically trying to not offend his cousin.
"Recoome you're up." Ginyu ordered as the brute of his squad eagerly bounded forward.
"You've got some bad luck, to get paired with me first Saiyan." Recoome said followed with a booming laugh.
Raditz's body went rigid with fear, just as Recoome was hoping he would. He would finally get to kill a Saiyan after his last attempt went so badly.
In a flash the fight began, Recoome launched forward at an incredible speed. Though to Raditz's surprise he could actually follow the giant's movements. At the last second his arm had shot up just in time to block the massive fist coming his way.
The planet shook for a moment, as neither warrior moved. Both completely shocked by what had just happened.
After the brief pause Raditz was the first to recover, his leg lashing out and catching Recoome in the gut.
The air shook with a massive boom as Recoome's body bent slightly inwards under the force. The attack didn't have much effect besides that though. With a bright smile on his face the Orange Giant recovered almost immediately "Gotcha!" He shouted like a child who had just caught an insect as his palms clamped down on both sides of Raditz's head and promptly head butt him.
Raditz's world spun for a second, as his brain bounced around his skull. The shaking was so violent he didn't even notice he had been kicked high into the air until his ascent was almost over.
Raditz spread his arms out wide, finally stopping his momentum, as he tried to locate the monster he was fighting. Unfortunately for him the attack was already on its way by the time he recovered. As Recoome swung down with both arms.
Raditz hit the ground before he even realized he was moving, with enough force to shatter the surrounding rocks for dozens of feet.
Gohan didn't know if he should be worried or not. He could follow all of the orange fighter's movements, and from sparring with his Uncle the last few days he knew his Uncle should've been able to as well. He didn't know why he wasn't fighting back.
Slowly Raditz rose from the ground, expecting to feel like every bone in his body was broken, but surprisingly the pain didn't come. It did hurt, but not nearly as much damage as such a vicious attack should've caused.
"What's the matter? Don't wanna play anymore?" Recoome asked with another round of booming laughter. "I was getting excited for a minute. You're pretty strong." He added as he waited for how Raditz would respond.
Shock slowly gave way to realization on Raditz's part. The massive gap in strength he was expecting to exist between them, simply was nothing more than his imagination at this point.
Recoome was about to start taunting Raditz again, when the Saiyan warrior surprised not just him but the entire Ginyu Force, with a loud confident laugh. "Well today certainly is a day of surprises." Raditz smirk was on the verge of a full blown smile as he eagerly took his stance. "To think I'm on par with a member of the Ginyu Force." Then to add emphasis to his point he lunged forward crashing his knee into Recoome's face, and then began to let loose. Raining blow after blow down upon the suddenly stunned giant.
It didn't take long for Recoome to start fighting back, though his attacks were quickly edging on frantic.
Finally the brute had had enough and unleashed a massive wave of energy out in all directions, knocking Raditz away.
Slowly the dust settled around the battlefield, revealing both Raditz and Recoome were hardly damaged.
"Way to go Uncle Raditz!" Gohan shouted with pride as his Uncle stared down the Elite warrior as not just an equal but possibly even his superior.
Both sides of the battlefield stayed silent a moment longer realizing this fight was far from over, in fact it seemed the real fight was just about to begin.
Hey everyone, sorry for the extremely long delay. Last semester was truly the definition of awful, in just about every way you can think to use the word. But I am going to leave it at that for now. I hope to have more regular updates again starting today.
Second order of business, due to time constraints I couldn't get as much into this chapter as I was hoping for (And the kind of abrupt ending), mostly because I wanted to make sure I got a chapter up today for sure.
Which leads me into the third order of Business, Culture Shock is officially 2 years old today! (I know I posted it a couple hours early but I felt everyone had waited long enough)! I want to thank everyone for all the support they've given me since I started this story, it truly is amazing how we've gone from barely getting a review a chapter to being one of the top 400-500 Dragon Ball Z stories out there! So hopefully I will be able to continue to write a story worthy of your support :)
I will give everyone a power level sheet next chapter for sure.
Reviews:
Jhotenko - Looks like Videl is getting the same attention that canon Gohan received from Piccolo. I wonder what her dad thinks of that. (I can't remember whether or not he's alive, but that shouldn't make a difference. He'll find out either way.) Considering how much of a doting father he is, Piccolo's brutal training has to infuriate him.
Cooler is making the classic DBZ blunder of thinking he's the universe's strongest. At least the current being (mortal anyway) who holds that title has the sense to continuously train regardless of how strong he gets. That is assuming I'm right in thinking Piccolo is the strongest right now. Either way my point stands.
As usual, great chapter, and I look forward to your next post.
Yup, Videl is quickly becoming Piccolo's favorite, much like Gohan was. Hercule would probably be upset about it, but since he is dead, what he doesn't know won't hurt him. Though I imagine when he gets back he will have some words with Piccolo and then remember exactly how completely out of his league he is.
Cooler definitely making the classic mistake. Whether it will work out for him or not we'll have to wait and see. In terms of strength, at this exact point in time I would say Piccolo and Cooler would be just about equal, since Cooler has his 5th form and Piccolo can only go Kaiokenx2. Things get more dangerous for Cooler the longer it takes him to get to Earth.
I hope you enjoyed the latest chapter.
RKF22 - Let the fun begin
Yes let the fun begin mwhahahaha!
Simgr101 -
well cooler has taken out frieza's mother i suppose a a bit of vengeance for him to which i'm happy. the whole it thing with cooler came from the meta cooler movie.
cooler: impressive, i didnt think there was time to dodge.
goku: heh, its called instant transmission.
cooler: i know, its one of my favorite techniques.
now i saw some of the reviews and i will say the Planet Trade should have been more of a threat. possibly the major threat it could have been. i'm not sure if you found that fic i told you of yet but its idea of the Planet Trade adapting gero's tech to its army. spy bots seeing how fusion worked. and adapting that to the empire would make them a huge threat. i believe it was called a vicious god's wrath if you ever decide to read it. one of the things was neural implants something that allowed the army to control people that did resist.
cooler working with gero would be brilliant if gero wants more of an edge this time round now that he knows of the future. working with someone like cooler would make a terrifying combination. Planet Trade tech plus gero. that would be nuts.
ok then now the chapter i should review that shouldn't i? piccolo holding back to train everyone with clones brilliant. infact, i haven't seen piccolo's clones for so long in dbz its great to see them utilized. cooler has a reason to go to earth now but not revenge for just avenging his clan but just cause he has to do it to get power. there really is no better reason for him i'd say. i'm kind of hoping lime gets a bit of development at some point. its a little too early for videl that much as that is gradual but perhaps you could give them some more original attacks that they made that kind of makes them who they are?
so far though nappa and veg haven't been in the fic lately they have what seperates them. vegeta is still vegeta the arrogant selfish prince. nappa the saiyan general and has quite the knack for adapting techniques to himself as he did in your namek saga. goku is still a bit naive but has his unorthodox strategies that really helps in battle. the fighters like tien, krillin and yamcha really feel like they are fading off in the distance at the moment. like they dont have much of a purpose anymore. we know there were other human fighters in this story but we don't know too much about them aside from them being here. their interactions with the characters maybe possible still grief over what demon king piccolo did to them etc. what happened to hercule? videl is kind of that inocent little child, doesn't add much but is slowly developing. lime has her insecurities with herself that parts good and i hope you have more planned for her. the touching scene of hercule, videl and her mother was good but it just seems to go a bit dry. since you brought back those who died to the saiyans does that mean tao/shen are back in some way? was launch still in this somewhere? idk just on earth it seems to be a little bit of a mess atm.
gohan in space that is awesome i actually like that part of your fic i k some don't but i do. its working with raditz and him knowing how to survive and it leaves room for him to get over his insecurities as the weak warrior proving he is not as weak as everyone thinks. gohan is getting there and is learning more from raditz as his life with turles goes on. hes becoming quite the little warrior as time goes on. turles himself im liking him though i'm curious a bit on his backstory aside from him being there as ooooo im a saiyan pirate. ARRRRRRRRRRG! i can't remember if you had him as bardock's brother or as a cousin or brother to raditz or something. there is honestly so much you can work on with that. pyros or whatever his name on is awesome and he's brilliant as the scum bag he is even has that bit on why he is such a scum bag which fits well. i look forward to the day he dies.
i will say the saiyan saga-frieza's death was done brilliantly as it had a clear grasp on all the character's and what they did. now at the moment it feels like everyone is just there and your not sure what to do with them. this issue isn't present in gohan's story arc cause well theres no reason for it to be. aside from that you're going well the development of our major characters is there and you've set up some very interesting scenarios now so i look forward to what will happen next.
Ah interesting about the instant transmission with Cooler. I suppose it could've been a technique he picked up from the Big Geta Star.
I have not had time to read the story you have mentioned. If I get a chance I will definitely check it out because that is an interesting idea.
Dr. Gero has some interesting ideas (At least I think they are interesting) in the works. And Cooler's role isn't exhausted yet so anything can happen ;).
I'm glad you enjoyed Piccolo using his clones, I figured Piccolo would decide it would be the most efficient way to train the entire group since there is such a wide range in power levels. Plus it allows him to continue training as well, instead of just holding way back he can actually have some real fights with people.
I do plan on developing both Lime and Videl's characters throughout the coming arc. I feel like there is a lot I can do with both of them.
I'll admit, there are a lot of characters to keep track of right now. There will be chapters focusing on as many groups as possible throughout the story. Some characters will unfortunately drift back into more background roles for stretches of time. But if you expect the human fighters to completely disappear you would very much be mistaken. Especially those who had bigger roles in the shows to begin with. I cannot guarantee that the character's I've created will always have a major role in the story though. Some of them will probably stay in the background once their time in the forefront is fulfilled. They will likely show up from time to time still though.
Vegeta hasn't been showing up lately because he hasn't really been doing anything different than he was in the show during this time. He's training relentlessly in the gravity chamber, complaining at Nappa for holding him back and not being strong enough yet.
Hercule is currently still dead in other world along with dozens of the other human fighters who died in the King Cold fight. Videl's role will continue to expand over time as she comes into her own as a powerful human fighter. She is getting to train with some of the most powerful fighters in the universe.
Launch is still around, still doing her own thing mostly waiting for Tien to come back. I think the last time we saw her was the Garlic Jr. Saga. There is a high likelihood that Tao and Shen are back but I cannot confirm or deny at this moment.
I'm glad you enjoy Gohan's time in space, it is a crucial time in the story pretty much for all the points you bring up. He gets to develop as a warrior independently. He isn't as sheltered as he was with Chi Chi and Goku. It also gives me the chance to create my own large-scale adventure, to try and paint my image of the Dragon Ball Universe. It also gives me a way to tie in some of the movies that I really want to work in. Turles, Cooler etc.
Turles in my story is Goku and Raditz's cousin. my theory is that the second child of any Saiyan male will look like their grandfather. Which was the only half-way reasonable explanation I could come up with for so many Goku looking characters throughout the series lol. Pyros is a scum-bag, he really gives Gohan someone to hate, someone to strive to defeat himself since he is basically in Gohan's eyes a weaker version of Frieza himself. Gohan is also looking forward to that day.
I'm glad you enjoyed the early arcs. I know these middle arcs are kind of a mess, these are mostly character development chapters instead of there being 1 unified villain for everyone to fight. Which is part of why so many characters are drifting into the background. I hope this chapter and the coming chapters re-capture everything you enjoy about the story.
im going to add to my review implying i haven't reviewed chap one yet. i will say the metal cooler movie was shit. utter shit both were really. where the first one failed in making cooler a credible threat they tried to redeem it with the metal cooler one but that really just made cooler look like a frieza cop out. and made it look shit. cooler honestly with his final form should have been stronger than ss goku and then they could have had an ss vegeta come in and both him and goku fought cooler. that would have been entertaining by far. ah just sharing my opinion there
I enjoyed the Cooler movie to a point, but you are right it was lacking a lot of the desperation the show and some of the other movies have. Hopefully you will enjoy what I have planned for Cooler.
Guest - Somehow i feal like whis was involved in this bum bum bummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm lol
Whis being involved in the Cooler family politics? I cannot comment on that at this time.
ReaperZwei -
Liked your description of planet Frost. Pretty sure life couldn't exist on a planet like that (do gas giants even have rocky cores?) but it was interesting.
Glad you enjoyed the description of the planet. Life could technically evolve there (Without going too Astronomy major on you) Gas Giants start off as Rocky planets like the Earth, they just form in region where there is more gas and ice so they can add mass faster. Once they get up to about 10 times the mass of the Earth they can start attracting Hydrogen can in larger sums, which since it is the most common element in the universe, means it's mass growth rate explodes.
We've found hundreds of planets in orbits such as this as well. Once you get that close to a star, no matter how big of a planet you are it will be stripping your atmosphere pretty darn fast, like a comet. So there would be a period of time in which there would be enough atmosphere for life to form. Planets can also become tidally locked like the Earth's moon, when they are close to their star.

Hi this is the first time I've reviewed, I like how you have made Gohan a sort of "neutral warriot" so to speak, and I also like how you took an interesting twist on instant transmission in the last few chapters I never thought of it that way and on that note I'm out.
Thanks for the review. I think you've gotten what I've tried to do with Gohan perfectly. He isn't necessarily a good guy like Goku nor is he a bad guy like Frieza or Vegeta were gaining power for truly selfish means. He just wants to be the strongest so the people he cares about stop dying. He also still has empathy though and doesn't want his experience to happen to anyone else. I hope you enjoyed this chapter too.

Glad you enjoyed the chapter. And I'm glad to hear my writing skills are improving some. Though I am afraid they are regressing some due to the long gap. Hopefully they didn't too much. :)

Oh Man I Love This Story And I Hope You Update Soon :D
Glad you enjoyed the story. I'm sorry the wait for this chapter was so long. Hopefully it was worth the wait.
asdf (Chapter 14)- Well if king kai is watching everything and goku used him to get his wish on earth why doesn't the kai contact chi chi or tien and tell them where the saiyans are resting?
It is a awesome fic so far just curious about this?
Glad you are enjoying the story. King Kai isn't exactly the most observant person all the time. He does have an entire quarter of the galaxy to keep track of as well.
Well that's it everyone, hopefully you enjoyed the chapter, even though it was cut kinda short. Next chapter should have much more action hopefully!
