Chapter 19

Things were different now, but somehow they were still the same.

Emilia felt uncomfortable every time she was in the production area because she could feel eyes on her. She was aware that Dean was watching her. He used to do this, before they even knew each other. She was supposed to distract him, but he was distracting her instead.

Dean kept his distance from Emilia, even though he found it difficult to do so. It wasn't because he was scared of Seth, it was because he didn't wanted to hurt her. She left him even if she promised him that she wouldn't and after vanishing, she came back and it looks like she's with his former best friend. He felt angry, betrayed, and hurt. He should hate her, but he couldn't.

As Dean stared at Emilia, who was laughing heartily at something Seth was saying to her, he wondered when did they started dating. Were they secretly seeing each other when he was with Emilia? Dean shook his head and said no in his mind - Emilia's not that kind of woman. But does he really know who she is? Is she even really that religious?

Dean took a cigarette out of his hoodie's pocket and lit it. He took in a long drag and blew the smoke out.

Like the burning cigarette, seeing Emilia with Seth was killing him slowly.

Emilia found it hard to focus on her job because all she could see on the small screens in front of her were John Cena and Dean Ambrose - two guys she was previously involved with. Josh noticed how unusually sloppy Emilia was being with her work and he had an idea why. He wanted to tell her a joke or two about her, John, and Dean, but he chose not to say it because he thought she wouldn't find it funny.

"I thought I'd never see those two as a team."

Josh told Emilia, nudging her right arm with his elbow. Emilia turned her head to look at him. She laughed nonchalantly.

"Me too."

Emilia admitted. As she watched John and Dean's impromptu triple threat tag team match against the Usos and Gold and Stardust, she thought about John and Dean, but mostly the latter. She remembered how jealous Dean was of John before when they were still together. She thinks that everyone in the locker room was jealous of John - after all, he was at the top of the WWE food chain and he has achieved so much in his wrestling career. But she couldn't see Dean being jealous of John because of his fame and his achievements because he was successful too. She knew Dean was jealous of John for something but she didn't know what.

When it was announced that John and Dean won the match, Emilia was pleased.

The show went on smoothly. Everything was a blur to Emilia, except for Dean. She was screaming internally from delight when she saw Dean standing on a turnbuckle with his back against the pole and his left hand on the contract while mocking John. When Dean pulled down the contract and his music started playing, Emilia grinned and clapped cheerfully. Josh saw her reaction to Dean's win and he raised an eyebrow at her.

"You're happy that he's gonna face your beau at the next Pay Per View in a steel cage?"

Emilia's smile disappeared when Josh mentioned what's going to happen now that Dean has the contract. For a few seconds, she couldn't remember who Seth was and she was speechless. When Seth came out and started saying things to Dean, she regretted feeling happy at seeing Dean win. Emilia gulped as she watched a vengeful Dean holding the contract close to his face as he stared at Seth.

"I'm parched. Is there any more coffee at catering?"

Emilia said as if she didn't hear what Josh just asked her. Josh decided not to add anything to what he said and shrugged. Emilia took her headphones off and walked away from the production area to get herself a cup of coffee from catering.

When she made it to the catering area, Emilia grabbed a small white paper cup from the buffet table and took the warm glass pot of coffee from the machine. As she was pouring the hot dark brown liquid into the cup, she heard two people talking in the empty hallway, their voices echoing in the small space. When she returned the pot on the machine, she turned her head and immediately regretted doing so because the two people talking were Dean and Renee.

Renee was leaning against the wall with her arms crossed while Dean was standing in front of her, hugging the contract. He kept the contract close to his chest, as if someone's going to take it away from him at any second. Emilia couldn't decipher what they were talking about. She almost dropped her cup of coffee when Dean grabbed a fistful of Renee's blonde hair using his right hand and bent down to kiss her savagely. Emilia felt her palms sweating and her knees shaking. Before she could spill the coffee on herself or on the floor, she went back to the production area feeling distraught. As she walked, she tried not to think about what she just saw and trip over anything.

When Emilia was gone, Dean pulled back and let go of Renee's hair. Renee wiped the smeared lipgloss off the corners of her lips as Dean ran a hand through his disheveled damp hair. Dean caught Emilia staring at him and Renee as they kissed. Renee didn't know that he had his eyes wide open while kissing her and Emilia didn't know that he saw her and the emotion that she had on her pale but pretty face - she looked perturbed. Dean smirked to himself after seeing how he still had an effect on Emilia, just like she still has with him and always will.

"What're you smirking at?"

Renee asked him with one of her shapely eyebrows raised. Dean glowered at her and shook his head.

"Nothing. I'll see you at the hotel later."

Renee sighed.

"Fine. See you later, Dean."

Dean walked away to go to the production area where Emilia was. As he walked, Renee watched him. She could hear him talking to himself, like he sometimes does. Despite that and all his other quirks, she loved him.

When Dean made it to the production area, he leaned against the wall and made sure that he was near Emilia but far enough to stop himself from doing anything to her. He saw her taking a sip from her cup of coffee. When she brought the cup down, Dean could see her lipstick on the rim. The harmless sight of it made him feel hot. For a second, he felt jealous of an inanimate object. He wanted her lipstick on his lips, not on anything or anyone else.

"I think he should just take a picture of you, pretty baby. It'll last longer. That is if he hasn't already."

Josh told Emilia as he spun around in his swivel chair.

"What're you talking about, Josh?"

Emilia asked even though she already knew what he was talking about. Dean was watching her again and this time she wasn't the only one who was aware of what he was doing. Josh stopped spinning his seat and faced Emilia.

"Dean Unstable Ambrose, The Lunatic Fringe, is watching you, pretty baby. Will he ever stop?"

The right answer would be her saying that she wishes that Dean would, but she didn't say it and chose not to say anything. She took another sip from her cup of coffee and when she stole a glance at Dean, he winked at her. She almost choked on her coffee.

He was a distraction, but Emilia liked having him there - it was proof that she still mattered to him. If she didn't, he wouldn't be there, he would be with Renee. She closed her eyes for a second but then she quickly opened them when she saw Dean kissing Renee back at the hallway.

Envy was one of the seven deadly sins and as Emilia toyed with the cross pendant of her necklace, she found herself sinning as she let herself feel jealous of Renee. She knew that she and Dean would still be together if she didn't leave. Instead of thinking what could've happened if she didn't leave, Emilia said a short prayer and did the sign of the cross before continuing her duties as the head of the production team.

Author's note: I know what you're thinking - because I love Dean Ambrose, I hate Renee Young for dating him. Actually, I don't hate her - I like her. And I'm happy that she's dating Dean. Well, we don't know for sure if she is but I don't mind if she really is. Anyway, how awesome was Dean and Seth's match at Hell in a Cell? I wish it would've been longer though. And who wants Dean to feud with Bray Wyatt? Imagine the promos!
