Chapter 70: A Legendary Struggle Begins

Turles and Gohan watched the three ships quickly make their way across the system and enter the planet's atmosphere. As their viewport lit up with red glow from the ships meeting the atmosphere, Turles gave a subtle nod and Gohan pushed the ship forward.

Within a few minutes Turles and Gohan had landed, Ginyu, Recoome, and Raditz had already moved to meet up with their leader. Each was confident there wasn't a force in the galaxy that could stand against their combined might.

"They landed about 2 miles east of here sir." Ginyu reported as soon as Turles exited the ship.

"I know." Turles said as he pressed his scouter immediately registering three abnormally large power levels. "Let's see here, Two around a million and one around 20,000."

"There is no way those three could be Pyros, Jeice, and Burter." Ginyu said beginning to have a sinking feeling about the fate of his men.

After a few minutes the three figures had come into focus. About 200 feet away the three figures came to a halt. One clearly Pyros, while the other two looked Saiyan.

"Pyros was actually telling the truth?" Turles mumbled to himself somewhat surprised that his most disloyal follower had actually apparently done something incredibly useful.

"Well isn't this a pleasant surprise." Turles said stepping forward. "Here I thought you had finally decided it was time for me to put you out of your misery. Instead you somehow found two more survivors." Turles said noting the larger Saiyan was in a very strange getup. The glowing lights on his clothes especially seemed strange. As did the look of barely restrained rage.

"Seeing how we are all-" Turles started to continue before the lights on the crown finally cracked as a burst of green energy shot out in all directions. At that same moment the entire area shook with a scream.

"KAKAROT!"

Raditz felt his entire body seize up at that moment, this other Saiyan knew his brother's name? It seemed beyond belief. He was so in shock that he failed to raise his aura in time to stop himself from being pushed backwards.

Gohan too was shocked by his father's Saiyan name, it wasn't until he found himself tumbling backwards like a tumbleweed that he was able to snap out of it. Grasping on a small rock sticking out of the dirt, he stopped his backwards moment.

Looking up from his hands and knees, he stared out at the scene unfolding before him.

"Fine Broly have at him, spare the others!" Paragus screamed trying to exact a modicum of control over his berserker of a son.

Broly wasn't waiting for Paragus' permission though. He had already launched forward before Paragus had even begun speaking.

"Oh, you want to fight first? Fine bring it on!" Turles shouted, a purple aura flowing around him.

Ginyu and Recoome both were starting to react to Broly's movements, but they were much too slow. Turles himself was almost too slow as well. As his guard barely rose in time to intercept the massive fist swinging down towards him.

Turles arm began to tremble as he tried to push back against the overwhelming force bearing down against him.

Ginyu and Recoome were finally getting close, but Turles shouted, "Stay back! He's mine!"

Both fighters came to a halt as Turles' leg lashed out colliding with Broly right beneath his arm on his left rib cage.

The blow didn't even phase the larger fighter. As Broly's arm simply clamped down on the smaller Saiyan's leg, and then quickly Broly's other fist began to rain down on Turles.

Pyros watched the opening salvo of the fight and spotted his chance to escape. He didn't know which of these monsters he would prefer to win and he didn't feel like sticking around to find out who did. With any luck he could destroy the whole planet on his way out of the planet's atmosphere.

Without warning he launched backwards back towards the ship he came from.

Gohan's eyes locked onto Pyros' fleeing form, and immediately gave chase. He wouldn't let him escape. Not this time.

Raditz briefly thought about going after his nephew, but he quickly realized he would be needed here sooner rather than later.

Broly didn't even bother to look the child's way as he kept all of his focus locked onto Turles' struggling form.

The fight had been going on for less than a full minute, yet Turles face was already covered in blood, one of his eyes was beginning to swell as well already limiting his vision. He could barely muster a defense from his off-balance position.

"Damn it! Let's go!" Raditz suddenly ordered as he, Ginyu, and Recoome all rushed forward attempting to run interference for Turles to have a moment to recover.

Ginyu arrived first, his fist colliding harmlessly against the large Saiyan Warrior's face.

Before he had time to land a second attack he found himself hurtling backwards from a simple backhand from Broly.

Recoome reached Broly a moment later trying to force Broly into a full nelson.

The surprising move, forced his hold on Turles to weaken for a moment, allowing Turles to slip free. Turles immediately landed on his bottom and rolled away from the incredibly powerful Saiyan.

In the meantime, Recoome's brief hold was shattered almost immediately as Broly flexed his muscles. As Recoome stumbled backwards Broly lashed out with a single devastating blow to the large, orange, humanoids face.

Recoome's jaw shattered under the force of the attack sending his limp body to drop into a heap a few dozen feet away.

Just as Broly's returned his attention to Kakarot, who was seemingly trying to stuff his face with some foreign looking fruit instead of continuing their struggle, a voice rang out over the battlefield.

"DOUBLE SUNDAY!" Raditz shouted as two massive blasts merged into one and collided with the large Saiyan warrior forcing him backwards for the first time in the brief engagement.

Pyros grit his teeth as his ship came into view. Around 1000 feet away, the former revolutionary commander noticed a slight disturbance in the air above him.

Just as he started his evasion attempt Gohan's foot came crashing down in the square of his back, causing the two to drop down into the planet's surface, Gohan riding him like a surfboard as he cut through the rock.

Finally, they came to rest, a mere dozen feet or so from the trio of ships that Pyros and the two mystery Saiyan's had arrived on.

Although the front of his body was heavily scraped and bruised from the Saiyan child's initial attack, Pyros wasted no time unleashing his own opening salvo.

In an instant he charged up two blasts, one in each of his arms, which were deeply embedded below him, and fired.

Both he and Gohan launched upwards again like a rocket. As they reached the peak of their flight, Pyros killed one blast allowing the second one to cause him to spin around.

With the added momentum, Pyros struck outwards, delivering a vicious spinning kick to Gohan's chest, launching him backwards.

Gohan's chest ached from the surprisingly powerful blow, but his anger allowed him to block out the pain for the moment. Effortlessly he stopped his momentum and went back on the attack.

Pyros let out a growl, he knew if he was going to have any chance of surviving the berserker of a child's attack, he would need to strike hard and strike fast.

Without any further hesitation he unleashed a flurry of small but potent blasts out in a wide net trying to cut off any avenue of attack besides straight towards him.

Gohan rushed right through the wave of explosions cutting, right down the path Pyros had intended.

What the former rebel commander had forgotten to factor into his strategy was the sheer difference in strength between them.

Around halfway to Pyros, Gohan vanished from his view.

Pyros didn't even have a chance to raise his guard before the child was before him once more, his fist already embedding itself deeply into Pyros' abdomen.

Blood and spittle rained from the former commander's mouth as his body bent painfully inwards.

Pyros' hands tightened into fists as his anger began to build, even with Gohan's fist pressed deeply into his body, he ignited his aura. There was no way Pyros, the rightful ruler of the galaxy was going to meet his end here against a brat he had so graciously taken under his wing those years ago.

Cocking back a fist Pyros aimed right for Gohan's head, only for his fist to be caught mere inches from connecting with its target.

As Gohan began to apply pressure to the now captured arm Pyros frantically lasted out with his other arm, only for it to, also be caught in the smaller fighter's vice like grip.

Gohan looked up into Pyros's eyes with a look that would curdle the blood of most beings in the galaxy, before suddenly pulling down with all of his might.

Pyros was unable to brace himself as Gohan's head lurched forward crashing into his nose, shattering it with the single blow.

While his target was stunned Gohan wasted no time switching his grip, holding onto just one of Pyros' arms and planting his feet against the right side of his ribs.

With swift pull and twist movement, Pyros' arm was suddenly ripped free of his body.

The alien commanders' screams echoed across the landscape, as he staggered backwards in the air, barely able to keep his energy focused enough to continue his levitation.

Before the shock of the situation could even fully wear off, Gohan was on the attack again. In an instant he had phased above Pyros and was in the act of delivering a downward bicycle kick to his enemy's head, launching him like a meteorite to the planet's surface.

The world blacked out for Pyros in that moment. By the time he managed to regain consciousness he was already in a crater of his own making, half buried with rubble. Gohan's hateful form staring down at him.

"No...please...spare me…" Pyros managed to gasp, his heart racing as he realized he was completely at the child's mercy. His body wouldn't respond to him, he had likely suffered spinal damage from whatever attack had dropped him from the sky.

Without hesitation Gohan's arm shot out, a ball of energy already materializing in his hand. "Why should I? You killed Shizen." Gohan growled the orb of destruction pulsing dangerously in his hand.

"Turles...had ordered him to die...you should be angry with him…" Pyros tried desperately the deflect the blame.

"Shut it! If Turles had known Shizen's power he never would have ordered him killed." Gohan responded, putting aside his rocky relationship with Turles for the moment. He wasn't going to let Pyros weasel his way out of this.

"Please...you don't even like killing...you wanted...to be a protector...didn't you?" Pyros continued to nearly sob out his begs, his ego appearing to be completely shattered.

Gohan unleashed the blast.

At first Pyros thought the attack had somehow missed entirely, that was until he felt blood surge up into his mouth, looking down at his prone, paralyzed body he realized the truth, Gohan had blown a hole straight through his stomach. Just like had happened to Shizen several years ago.

"No, you're right. I didn't want to be a killer. But if it means riding the galaxy of monsters like you, I don't care anymore. I'll kill anyone and everyone who gets in my way." Gohan declared, vocalizing his eternal promises for the first time. "I'll become so powerful I'll never lose someone I care about again, and once I am the most powerful in the universe everyone will follow my rules or I will end them, even Turles." He added his hand already glowing with a more powerful attack already built up.

Pyros tried to open his mouth to try one last desperate plea, but he was immediately cut off. "SATURDAY CRUSH!" Gohan shouted over Pyros' feeble scream as his body vaporized.

An eerie silence fell over the ruined valley, the only sound was the rain of small rubble from the blast. As the smoke slowly cleared Gohan continued to watch the crater where Pyros had finally met his end. One of the monsters that had haunted his life for so long was finally dead, he had finally gotten revenge against someone.

Gohan took another moment to calm himself, he felt relieved but at the same time he had expected to feel more satisfied. Taking one more look over the battlefield, Gohan lifted into the air to return to the Raditz and the others, Turles' fight should be nearing its end by now, and then they could resume their quest to become the strongest fighters who had ever lived.

Raditz poured every ounce of strength he could muster into the beam of energy flowing from his palms. At first the unexpected attack had actually forced the Saiyan brute back. But the respite was short lived. All his attack had seemingly done was remind Broly of Raditz's presence on the battlefield.

Broly began to walk forward, allowing Raditz's attack to push fruitlessly against his chest. His attention momentarily leaving Turles to focus on Raditz.

Ginyu had finally recovered from the dizzying blow Broly had landed on him earlier and joined Raditz in his attack. "Milky Cannon!" He shouted as his purple energy wave crashed into Broly's back

Turles quickly took advantage of the well-timed distraction Raditz and the others had provided, him as he shoved the entire fruit in his mouth and began chewing as fast as he could force his jaw to go. His many wounds beginning to heal the instant the magical fruit juice began to enter his throat.

Turles smirked as he felt the rush of new power flowing through his body, without a doubt he had received a large zenkai.

Broly briefly halted his advance after Ginyu's attack was added to the maelstrom of energy crashing around him. His hands gradually tightening into fists as a strange green energy began to surround his body.

An instant later he let out a great roar, as a wave of green energy spread outwards, pushing the two rivers of energy buffering him back as if they were nothing more than a light breeze.

Ginyu and Raditz each dropped their attacks, realizing the futility of it, instead they each rushed backwards trying to stay ahead of the wall of energy that expanded out in all direction. Luckily for them it quickly died out after their own attacks had halted.

Just as Raditz began to turn to face Broly once more, the larger Saiyan phased in front of him, his arm already cocked back ready to deliver a heavy haymaker to Raditz's face.

Before the attack could connect though, Turles launched back onto the attack.

Appearing behind Broly, Turles delivered a powerful kick to the side of Broly's head actually knocking the Saiyan warrior from his feet.

Turles' victory was short lived though as Broly was on his feet again in an instant, his attention now squarely on Turles once more. "KAKAROT!" Broly shouted as more of his true strength began to bubble to the surface, a yellow glow beginning to surround him as seemingly the entire planet began to shake.

A short distance away Paragus was beginning to get concerned, if Broly actually transformed there was a chance he would destroy the limiter that allowed Paragus his control.

"Broly! Calm down this instant!" Paragus ordered, putting the control device at its maximum power. "You can kill them without powering up any further! Stop playing around!"

Slowly Broly's yell began to subside his body still trembling.

Turles and Raditz each took a step back, all of the hair on their bodies rising on end. Somehow, they could feel the power radiating from the monster before them.

Before either could fully gather their wits again Broly was on the attack once more.

Turles barely managed to raise his arm to parry yet another punishing blow from Broly.

The fight was back on, moving at speeds Raditz couldn't even hope to follow the entire area was exploding with the shock waves from their fists meeting.

As he stood there trembling, a stray thought ran through his mind, 'Was this what Shizen was talking about?'

Finally, it was time to go to the tournament. All across the world, anyone who looked to the sky had a good chance to witnessing at least one of the fighters heading to the fight against Cell. The fate of the world would be in their hands.

Cell stood at the center of his arena, tracking each of the more notable participants paths to his tournament. As expected Goku and Piccolo appeared to be leading the largest group of participants meeting up near the lookout before continuing on towards the arena. Vegeta had been wished back as expected and continuing with his prideful nature had decided to come separately, with only Nappa traveling with him.

He couldn't help but notice that each of the Saiyan warriors had somehow been maintaining their Super Saiyan states for nearly the entire week leading up to the tournament. He couldn't help but wonder what this radical change in stance could mean for their upcoming battle.

Finally, it was time, Cell's eyes opened just as the first guests arrived. A series of mechanical cameras began landing around the ring. "Apparently someone wanted front row seats." Cell muttered to himself before giving the nearest camera a smirk. If the Earth wanted a show, he would be sure to give them the greatest spectacle the world had ever seen, it would be their last major event after all.

As the minutes continued to tick by Cell noticed something approaching very slowly, focusing his vision on the air around him he spotted his target, his hand whipping out faster than the cameras could hope to follow. Between his fingers sat a small mechanical contraption he was very familiar with. One of Dr. Gero's mechanical flies meant to gather the DNA of the world's most powerful fighters to incorporate into himself.

Cell couldn't help but laugh from the irony of the situation, although it made perfect sense, he was sure the device had been automatically routed in his direction as soon as he arrived in this timeline. With how slowly it could travel it wasn't a surprise that it had taken so long to catch up with him.

As he watched the tiny machine desperately trying to free itself from his grasp a unique idea crossed his mind. As he suddenly released the machines wings, allowing it to gently drop against the palm of his hand. Without hesitation the fly greedily took a sample before quickly taking flight once more, eager to return to the lab and enter the latest sample into the still growing form of Cell.

'Maybe I'll spare the Earth after all.' Cell thought to himself. 'I could probably at least keep the planet intact once I wipe humanity out that is.' A smirk crossed his face as he began to imagine his future battle against the only being that could ever be his rival in perfection, himself.

Cell was pulled from his imagination by a pair of rapidly approaching power levels. The first of the guests of honor had apparently arrived.

Cell turned to face the pair just as Vegeta and Nappa landed just on the outside of the ring.

Vegeta's arms were crossed, a look of pure contempt on his face, as he struggled to contain his fury.

To Vegeta's left Nappa stood by, sizing up the now Perfect Cell. He expression was somewhere between confident and angry. His anger at failing to be there to protect Vegeta still burned white hot.

"Come now you too, you could at least look somewhat excited knowing you are going to help me explore the full extent of my perfection." Cell lightly jabbed the Saiyan pair. His ministrations nearly causing the duo to lose their control.

"I'd recommend you watch your tongue you overgrown grasshopper. I'll be fighting first in your little tournament, and I assure you it will be the only fight you ever get." Vegeta managed to growl. Inside though a different source was helping fuel his determination. He had seen the true potential of the Saiyan race, and Cell was just the sort of stepping stone he needed to overcome to finally reach his destiny.

"Oh Vegeta, how I'll miss that misguided confidence of yours." Cell replied with a smirk. "It looks like our other guests are arriving though." Cell said with a nod of his head.

At that same moment nearly, a dozen of the world's strongest fighters landed near the arena, while several dozen more landed in on the nearby butte to watch the battle unfold, and if necessary attempt to step in themselves.

Cell looked over this next group, noting the expected warriors all lined up along the front. Goku, Piccolo, Cooler being the three to immediately catch Cell's eyes. But that didn't mean he wasn't interested in what some of the other fighters had planned. Trunks obviously had proven to be a power house, although his inexperience kept him from being considered as much of a threat as the other 3. Then there were the ever-plucky human warriors such as Chi Chi, Tien, Krillin, Yamcha, and even Lime. Although he didn't expect much out of these fighters, he was fairly certain they would be leagues above whatever creatures he would be coming across as he travelled the universe, proving he was the perfect being time and time again. And so, he would be sure to savior each and every one of their struggles.

"Well then shall we begin?" Cell asked his smirk growing into a full-fledged smile.

Hey everyone! I hope you enjoyed the start of these two epic concurrent fights! I've been looking forward to both of these for a very long time! I've also made a couple of changes to last chapter as well. One was an issue someone pointed out to me, the other was a scene I had meant to include but had completely forgotten about because I was rushing to try and finish it up last time.

Reviews:

Child-of-God16 - Thank you for your concern, but I don't think writing fiction is a sin, because it is just that, fiction.

Luke - Thanks! :) It means a lot to me that you are enjoying the story so much! I hope I will be able to continue to write a story you enjoy long into the future.

RKF22 - Thanks! I hope you enjoyed this chapter as well :)

super mystic gohan - Yes the next few chapters are going to be a blast to write! I'm very excited. I hope you'll enjoy my plans for how the rest of the Broly fight will go, I think it may surprise some people ;). Both of your later points are entirely possible as well ;) Thanks again for the review!

DarkFalconZ - Yes after another long gap we get to see the Saiyan trio again! Yes but it is Vegeta we are talking about, his pride won't allow him to stay down for long :)

serus black antihumannature - Thank you for pointing that out, I've attempted to correct that now. Hopefully this chapter was better :)

Lawrence HB - I'm glad you are thinking about giving the story another try. You've chosen a great time to get back into the story! I think you will really enjoy the next few chapters in particular ;)

Dragonmaster1296 - Yes these next few chapters I believe will be one of the real highlights of the story! I've been trying to build towards these fights for so long! Yes Android 13 still has a role to play in the story, and he is now strong enough to play that role. Yes all of the main cast have gotten to take turns in the time chamber. Even Videl got a turn. Dr. Wheelo and company are being very busy little bio-engineers, don't worry they still have a role in the story ;). It's entirely possible one or the other may try something, I guess we'll have to wait and see though :)

roddypiperfan84 - They have a lot of ground to cover if they aren't going to be late!

jj4life015 - I'm very glad you are enjoying Culture Shock so much! :). The ranking I was talking about was by the number of reviews. Currently it ranks as number 65 if you select all dbz stories and sort by reviews. I'm not sure if you've already read it or not but one of my personal favorites is called The Long Road which is currently ranked 11th. It was also the story that helped inspire me to write Culture Shock.

JOEL - Thank you! I hope you enjoyed this one as well :)

Spirax 570 - Yeah i'm sure that was the last thing they expected him to start yelling at that moment XD

Bro123 - How I imagine current Android 13 is a bit different than his canon counter part. First, since he never got to absorb all of the original parts of Andorid 14 and 15 to make his Super Android 13 form, he was initially partially stunted between regular 13 and Super 13, somewhat smaller than 13 and lighter colored, is how I imagined him. After picking up the parts from 19, his body grew bigger but stayed the same lighter color, and now that he has added parts from 16 as well, he is sort of a giant. If you remember back in the show, when Cell got desperate and bloated himself up, like Trunks' transformation, while fighting Gohan, I sort of imagine him looking like that now, only still a lighter color. Yes Cell is more powerful than his cannon counterpart at the start of the Cell games. I'm sorry for the long waits, between my multiple jobs and trying to get graduate school finalized I've been very busy since graduating. Hopefully more time will open up for me soon, but every time I think it will I get more added to my plate :(

Guest/JOEL (Chapter 43) - So future Videl with kaioken could've probably beaten Frieza. It would've been a good fight through so somewhere in the 120-130 million range I believe. Lime was significantly weaker than Videl, Lime was around 250,000-300,000 and Trunks was around 150,000.

Thank you everyone for all the reviews, it definitely makes my day whenever I get to read any sort of feedback on the story :) So I hope you all enjoy this chapter every bit as much!
