(February 3rd. 2015 – 10:40 PM – Nicholas's house, New York, Earth)

¨… the personnel at the power plant claim that the blackouts on the entire city will be over by the weekend so it won't be weird that….¨ The news reporter kept talking at the other side of the living room, Nicholas returned from the kitchen carrying a plate with a cheese sandwich for himself; he sat on the pc and moved his mouse to the League of Legends icon, pressed some buttons and logged into his account.

Nicholas (or Nick as he wanted to be called) was the typical 22 year old boy, With a black and short hair to combine with his shirt and pants used to be a great League player for the past two years but when he started to work he couldn't dedicate the enough time and had to play from time to time thus making him lose his ability and reaction time. After finishing the sandwich he logged onto Skype and joined the conversation his friends made.

¨I'm telling you, it's too risky to play right now, especially when there are still blackouts all around the neighborhood. I don't want my account banned just for going AFK ¨ that was the voice of Matt, an old friend of Nick who was in the same class as him; they live a just a couple of houses away so they end up meeting each other every time Nick has to go to work.

¨Relax, it's a custom match; we're playing against friends of a guy I met on a ranked game so there shouldn't be any problem¨ that was Claire, another friend of Nick and Matt, even though she went to the same school as them, she was on a different classroom so they could only meet during breaks or after school ¨Hey, Nick's here. Ready for a challenge? ¨

¨As long as he doesn't feed like the last time…¨ Matt's voice trailed off on the microphone.

¨Hey, it's been some time since I played League, can't you be a bit less oppressive this time? Nick grunted while joining the custom match.

Once all of the ten people were in the lobby the host started the match. It was a blind pick so there was no way Nick's team was able to counter pick the others; instead they decided to go with their most comfortable picks. Matt and Nick went to the bot lane, Matt's favorite role was ADC while Nick's was support, they decided to go with a bit of an aggressive lane with Caitlyn and Leona. Claire was their middle laner and loved to play assassins, thus she picked Katarina

¨Might as well consider lucky if they don't have anything to stop you¨ Matt sighed. His companions picked Fiora for the top lane and Jarvan in the jungle; once the timer reached zero both teams were already loading up for the custom match.

¨We have a nice team, we can surely win if… What? ¨ Nick stopped talking once he saw the other team; they had Cho'Gath, Malzahar, Rek'Sai, Kog'Maw and Vel'Koz, all five champions from the Void ¨Champions from the Void? I mean, both Cho, Rek and Malz may become a problem in the late game but their bot lane is weak¨ Nick continued on the microphone until the match started. For the first ten minutes it was balanced, both teams managed to get some kills but Nicholas's team was ahead by one tower and a dragon.

¨If we keep on like this we're gonna win¨Matt said joyfully on the microphone. The match kept going for more minutes but the lights at Nick's house started to flicker, he could hear his ADC sighing on his headphones ¨Not now, we are almost close to their nexus just a few more minutes¨Matt said to no one in particular.

But then everything happened so fast. Both teams were ready for one last teamfight; Jarvan initiated onto Kog'maw while Fiora started to go from behind to get their mid laner, however Rek'sai and Cho'gath tried to kill Claire and Matt in which Nick used all of his CC to stop them but his efforts were useless; Malzahar ulted Leona making his team lose the teamfight. With all the four members of his team dead only Nick was alive, though there was something strange; Malzahar's ultimate lasted longer than expected, the game was going like if it was on slow motion.

All of the Void champions started to move on Leona for the finishing blow but then she started to glow with a golden hue that was getting brighter every second. Nick had to cover his eyes because of the brightness the screen was emanating ¨Guys, are you seeing this? ¨ there was no response from his friends ¨Guys? What is going-¨ He was cut when Leona's glowing shut off as well as all the lights on his street ¨ (So this is what Matt was talking about, the blackouts) ¨ Nick thought as he grabbed the cellphone that was on the computer desk as well as the empty plate; by using his phone as a makeshift light he moved to the kitchen to find a flashlight. He left the plate on the sink and searched with his phone's light. After some minutes of searching he found the flashlight which still had some batteries; since there was no way to know when the lights will come back he had to turn off every switch that was on before the blackout, when he reached to the door of his bedroom his phone started to ring, it was Matt.

¨Hey is everything ok there? Claire and I were worried, we couldn't hear you on Skype before the lights went off¨ Matt's voice was a bit agitated, he was also moving a lot in his house.

¨Yeah, something weird happened with Leona but probably it was just a bug; you know how Riot codes their game right? ¨ Both Nick and Matt chuckled at that. ¨By the way, if you talk to Claire tell her I'm sorry for the match.¨

¨She won't be mad, trust me, besides she knew the… risks¨ Matt's voice trailed off on the phone ¨Hey hey hey, who are you? How did you enter here? ¨ His voice was more agitated; Nick placed the cellphone closer to the ear so he could hear even better what was happening on the other side of the line ¨Look, if you leave right now I won't call the cops ¨ there was silence from Matt, apparently the other person was speaking ¨ What do you mean YOU are a cop? Listen girl, if you want to avoid problems you should... ¨ Someone panting was heard from the other side, it was Matt's ¨Nick, you won't believe this from me but y-y-you gotta see this for yourself¨ He was scared.

¨Matt, listen, what is going on? ¨ Nick tried to calm his friend but there was no use

¨LET ME OUT¨ a shout could be heard from Matt's side, it was from a woman

¨ (What is going on right there?) ¨ Nick was asking himself holding the doorknob of his bedroom

Listen, come here and bring something to knock someone down, the front door is open so come here as soon as possible¨ Matt hung up. It was impossible not to help his friend so he decided to move there fast. He turned the doorknob to his bedroom and grabbed a baseball bat that was hanging near the door but there was something odd; there was someone on his bed.

Nick started to get nervous, he aimed the flashlight to the bed but he dropped it after knowing what he saw. There was a woman dressed with the same armor as Leona used on the game ¨ (This is impossible, a cosplayer in my room?!) ¨ The armored girl started to wake up, confused of where she was but there was no one else on the bedroom as Nick ran away downstairs and then outside, going as fast as he could to Matt's house

¨ (What the hell is happening? The glow, that girl, Matt. Has the world gone to hell?)¨ Nick was thinking, already tired when he got to his friend's house he saw a figure at the other end of the hallway; it was Matt holding the door. His blonde hair was covering his green eyes so he couldn't see Nick when he arrived; he was wearing a blue hoodie and winter pants, he wasn't prepared to go to bed yet.

From the other side of the door they could hear someone bashing ¨IF YOU LET ME OUT I WON'T HURT YOU, I PROMISE¨ the voice of a woman could be heard, it was quite similar to a certain champion Matt played

¨That… voice, it looks similar to-¨ Nick was cut by another heavy thud on the door

¨ Yeah that's what I thought, but playing League for some time can actually make you hear things¨ From the other side of the door there was silence. Apparently the mysterious person gave up, the only thing that could be heard were some snores; she got asleep.

The former school mates entered the room, their suspicions were correct, the girl fell asleep on the ground after trying for some time. Nick poked the stranger on the face with his bat but she remained on the ground. ¨Dude, she looks like…¨ Nick's voice trailed off as he turned to Matt who was surprised as well

¨I know… I know… we need a plan¨ Matt scratched his head for a couple of seconds before he got an idea ¨Keep Cait- this girl right here, if she moves use your bat. I'll go to the garage and pick something to tie her up, if we need answers she is the one that will have them¨

Matt left the room leaving Nick and Caitlyn alone, he readied up his bat in case she moved but there was no response from her. Some minutes later the house owner arrived with a long rope and a chair from the living room. ¨This should do, help me out¨ both moved the unconscious body to a chair and tied her up. ¨Let's make this fast shall we? ¨ Matt chuckled and grabbed a bottle of water that was on the night table and poured it over the Sheriff's head who awoke surprised of what happened.

¨Who are you? And why am I tied? ¨ Caitlyn asked the surprised boys

Nick sat on the ground in front of the hostage ¨We were going to ask you the same question¨
