(February 4th. 2015 – 00:45 AM – Claire's house, New York, Earth)
Claire and Liz went back to the main floor and locked the basement, if there was something the former knew was that Katarina couldn't use her Shunpo to get out of the basement. Or that was what she believed.
¨What happened to your parents? ¨ The assassin muttered to the girls who turned back to see her completely unharmed.
¨B-but we knocked you! How did you leave the basement in the first place?!¨ Katarina laughed.
¨I've went through worse on the Rift, yours was just a mere scratch¨ the redheaded walked past them and sat on the stool looking at them ¨I will consider the killing issue IF you tell me what happened to your parents¨
Tears were dropping from Claire's face, everything she did to protect her sister was useless since Kat was ready for another fight ¨Fine. If that's what it takes for us to live¨ She cleared her throat and wiped the tears from her eyes. ¨My parents made a perfect couple, and such they wanted their children to be the same; they always wanted to have a boy but instead I was given birth. They raised me even though I was not that wanted. Years later mother gave birth to my little sister, then again it was something they didn't asked for. We grew up knowing we were not wanted. Mom didn't want us and left when she had the chance. Our father… he was a different story, he loved us but he had to leave too; he joined the army and promised us he'll be back soon. Until then we haven't heard from him¨ Claire kneeled in front of Kat, tears were streaming once again from her eyes.
¨So who raised you once your parents left?¨ Katarina titled her head at the crying girl. She didn't wanted to cause that reaction on her
¨Aunt Miriam took care us. This was our home when we lived with our parents¨ Liz hugged her crying sister who made her cry as well. Katarina stood up from the stool and walked to Claire and offered her some help to stand up
¨Our pasts have something in common, different situations but the outcome was the same. You are the only one who can protect your sister right now and crying is not going to be a good example for her¨
The older sister looked at the assassin's hand and used it to stand back on her feet. Surprisingly Claire hugged Katarina who was astonished of her actions¨Why?¨
¨You shouldn't exist on this world but it's nice to hug someone who made you feel better; even if you wanted to kill us both¨ The redhead was still stunned because of the girl's actions but she decided to hug her back; she then felt something tugging her leg
¨ Are you going to stay with us for the night?¨ The little one asked but before she could say anything Claire separated from Kat
¨Yes, she's staying at home with us… until she finds a way to go back¨ They looked at each other with a smile on the big sister's face
(February 4th. 2015 – 11:15 AM – Nick's house, New York, Earth)
The Radiant Dawn was awaken by the sunlight that entered through the window hitting her face however she didn't wanted to leave the bed just yet. ¨ (What if I can't return to Valoran? Will I have to stay with this kid forever? Are there any other champions in this world apart from Caitlyn and me?)¨ A lot of questions were going around Leona's head but she couldn't think properly; her stomach growled, she was definitely hungry, especially after travelling between worlds. She stood from the bed, she removed her armor and clothes, only wearing an underwear. Due to the constant use of her armor and exposition to the sun, it changed her; she could withstand even the fiercest winter and only wearing light clothes.
Before she opened the door she saw some clothes with a note on top of them ¨I brought you these clothes in case you wanted to change. Sorry if they are too big, those are my clothes. We'll get you new ones later – N¨ Leona smiled. Nick was worrying about her, even if she was a person who met just hours ago.
She put on a long blue shirt that had black stripes on the front and the back; she also wore brown winter pants which were too big for her, it took Leona some time to find a belt and tighten the pants to her waist. She grabbed her headwear and opened the door; a tasty smell went into her nose, when she walked to the first floor Leona saw Nick was at the kitchen who was cooking turned and saw the girl taking a seat at the table. ¨Nice, was about to wake you up. Did you have a good night? ¨
Leona was looking at the plate; it was some fried eggs with something red she couldn't identify, Leo poked it with the fork with big curiosity then she looked at her left and saw a cup full with a black liquid.
¨That's coffee, it will help you stay awake for the rest of the day, and that's Eggs and Bacon¨ Nick pointed at the plate as he ate some of his breakfast
¨What's this… bacon you eating? It looks like meat¨ Leona tilted her head while she took a sip from her cup; she seemed to enjoy it
¨That's because it's meat. If you think I added poison or something just… remove that idea from your head. I'm here to help you, not kill you¨ Nick chuckled watching Leona trying to eat her breakfast. ¨By the way, Matt called me; he told me that everything is fine at his house, however some neighbors knocked at his door asking why was he shouting at night¨ Leona surprised at that story became worried
¨Did somebody saw Caitlyn? What did he say?¨ Leona stood up nervous that somebody might know about their secret but Nick just chuckled confusing the ginger
¨Relax, Matt said he was with his girlfriend. No need to worry¨ Leona covered her mouth, trying not to laugh. ¨Also, he's coming with his girlfriend for lunch so I hope you can help me with the table¨ Leona nodded watching at her right where Nick's pc was turned on
¨What's that thing over there?¨ Leona pointed to the screen that suddenly turned black
¨Oh? That? That's my computer… (how can I explain her what it is) … it's a machine, a device that allows me to do many things, like reading the news, listen to music, talk to other people or even play the game in which you were in¨ The girl was still confused what this computer was. ¨Here, let me show you¨ Nick moved his chair to the desktop and so did Leona who was at his right, he moved the mouse so the screen could lit on again. ¨Let's start League to show you our perspective¨ Nick clicked on the Game launcher but he was not able to log in as the server was unavailable ¨That's… odd, I don't remember Riot said there was going to be maintenance. Do you think you girls had to do with this?¨ Nick poked at Leona's arm who shrugged. Of course she wouldn't know anything, she came from a video game.
¨Ok let's see…¨ He opened the internet browser and look to League related news.
¨What are you looking for?¨ The Radiant Dawn asked while looking at the screen as if she could understand anything on it
¨I don't know. I was thinking that maybe if you and Caitlyn are here, well I thought that other champions might be in this world as well.¨ Before Leona could say a word Nick's phone started to ring, he look at it ¨It's a message from Claire, a friend who plays League with me and Matt. And it says: Nick I have to show you something important, I'll by in your house in 5 ¨ Nick stopped reading and quickly stood up grabbing the plates and cups to the kitchen and started to wash them ¨ Leo, Claire can't see you. She would freak out and get scared so the less problems we have the better ¨ She nodded turning to the stairs and climbing to the bedroom locking the door behind her.
Nick started to dust off his clothes and try to remove any trace about somebody else being on the house. He was about to go up and check up on Leona but there was someone at the door knocking ¨Nick? It's me Claire, I came early¨
The boy ran towards the door and opened it finding two girls instead of one ¨What- You… Who is she? Didn't you come here for something important?¨ Claire entered the house with her friend who had her face covered by a scarf and had a winter beanie and made her red hair cover her eyes
¨I did, and she is going to help me explain it¨ Nick closed the door, inspecting Claire's friend who crossed her arms in disapproval ¨Please take a seat¨
All three of them were sitting in the living room in silence, he was worried about Leona, she could fight against monsters in the Rift and still defeat them but in this world she didn't have the power of Summoners to protect her ¨So… what's this thing you wanted to tell me?¨ Nick started tapping the wooden table with the tip of his fingers trying to break the silence between them. ¨Did anything happen to you in the last few days? ¨ the boy shook his head lying to one of his best friends ¨Apart from what I do every day, the only weird thing that happened was yesterday's blackout¨
Claire's friend got closer to her ear and whispered something that Nick couldn't hear, the brown haired woman frowned, she knew something ¨Have you talked to Matt after the blackout?¨ Nick nodded ¨Yeah he's coming here for lunch and- ¨He stopped face palming ¨You don't mind if we stay for lunch too, right Nick?¨ Claire teased him, the only way for Leona to stay hidden is for him to continue his friend's game. The mysterious redhead stood from the chair looking at every door in the room ¨Ka- mile the bathroom is on the second floor, first room to the right¨ she nodded and walked towards the stairs climbing slowly
¨So… she's a friend from your school?¨ She nodded and remained silent. Nick crossed his arms looking at the stairs where the sound of someone knocking the door ¨Why is she knocking? I live alone¨ Claire opened her mouth but her words were cut by a big thud that came from upstairs.
They both stood up and saw the redhead falling with a big dagger from the stairs and someone else coming from the second floor wearing golden armor and wielding a big shield.¨Nick, you must run, she is not what it seems!¨ Leona shouted at his friend preparing to attack the mysterious girl.
¨Guess I was right about you. First we fight side to side, now we are rivals. How ironic!¨ Claire's friend chuckled as she removed her beanie and scarf revealing the face of the noxian assassin. Katarina drew another sword-dagger ready to fight the Radiant Dawn
¨You were hiding a champion at your home all this time and you didn't tell me?¨ Nick gasped, surprised about that question
¨Well YOU came here in the first place with a Noxian assassin!¨
Nick and Claire were discussing while at the stairs Leona and Katarina were fighting. The redhead throw some knives at Leona who blocked them with her shield. As a counter attack the Radiant Dawn rushed at Kat who shunpo'd behind her and landed a low kick on her legs making Leona fall. Before the latter could react the assassin had one of her blades close to her throat
¨It's over my dear lioness ¨ A small chuckle could be heard from Katarina who turned to see Claire discussing with Nick.
¨Hey Claire! Do you want the two of them to disappear?¨Her friend shook very fast, she didn't want anyone killed¨Alright, but if they try something weird, I will not hesitate¨ Kat removed her weapon from Leona's throat and dragged her towards Nick and Claire.
Nick ran at Leona's side trying to help her up inspecting if Katarina left some open wounds on her ¨You know this was unnecessary, Leona is a good person, she wouldn't harm anyone!¨ Nick stood up confronting Claire and Kat ¨We are on the same side. I want to help Leona get back to Runeterra and I'm sure you want to do the same with her¨
The group turned their heads as they heard a noise coming from the front door where a couple entered carrying many bags ¨Yo Nick the door was open, hope you don't mind. We also brought some chips for… lunch¨ Matt's voice trailed off as he saw the four of them looking at him and Caitlyn ¨It's…. ok we'll come by later¨
The blonde turned and saw Katarina with her hands crossed standing in front of them ¨It's not a good idea for a boy and his champion to be out in the open. Especially when there's a noxian assassin on the loose¨ The assassin grinned as she walked towards them making Matt and Caitlyn get in the house.
¨So it's settled; lunch for six¨ Nick sighed as he walked to the fridge getting some vegetables to cut
The food was ready and server, the group sat on the living room in silence, the only sounds came from the cutlery cutting the meat and the TV in which a reporter could be seen talking to some people. However the silence between them was cut when Matt hit the table with the back of his fork ¨When were you going to tell us you had a champion? ¨
He looked at Claire who dropped the cutlery on the plate¨I could ask you the same question. I would've understood it¨ Caitlyn shook while finishing her piece of meat
¨ Claire, right? You have no ordinary champion right there. She's one of the most deadly assassins that live on Runeterra. When you turn your back she will kill you, simple as that¨ Katarina smirked while looking at Nick who stood from the table and walked to the TV with a worried face. The other five people at the table look at Nick who was focused on the announcement on the screen
¨… there have been sightings all around the globe about mysterious creatures causing terror on many countries. While no video footage could be recovered, some images show that this creatures share colors and behavior tearing and eating everything on their path…¨ The TV was showing images of makeshift tunnels, some streets disintegrated by some kind of ooze and trees eaten. Everyone stood up and got closer to Nick who was shaking lightly ¨… however most of this creatures appear during the night and when the sun comes out they disappear, some people claim that they may be hiding closer than we expect. We advise everyone to close your doors and stay in your houses during the night. If you see something call the police. That's the news for now, moving onto the climate…¨
Nick was scared, he knew those were the signs of Void creatures lurking on the world, creatures that harmed the inhabitants of Runeterra. Now residing on the Earth they could destroy everything that lies in front of them and no one will be able to stop them.
¨I wonder if they're looking for the crystal¨ Kat whispered but everyone could hear it, all of them turned to the assassin who seemed to know more than anybody in the room. ¨What… crystal? What are you hiding Kat?¨ Nick frowned.
¨Back on Runeterra, our leader, Jericho Swain sent me and Talon on a mission to investigate what plans the Institute had. Our informants told us that the High Summoner Arlor sent a group of Summoners to the Void in order to find a crystal that would make Summoner's power even stronger, thing is that the artifact contained immense power that no one, not even Arlor could control¨ Katarina sat on the couch sighing ¨ I could've stop Arlor but I was summoned onto the Summoner's Rift. I was fighting with two demacians as well as Cait and Leona against Void champions… the next thing I remember was being on the floor of a mysterious house.¨ Kat looked at Claire who sat next to her patting on her back
¨Wait, so that means that if you three are here, maybe Jarvan and Fiora might be on this world as well ¨ Matt looked at Caitlyn who shrugged.
Nick walked towards the computer and logged into Reddit and saw some posts about some he looked into it and found a lot of pictures of people with champions or directly a picture of the champion. ¨That Karma! And that's definitely Thresh¨ Leona was naming each champion that appeared on the screen
¨Hold on a minute. You're saying that we opened the Box of Pandora and now every champion from the game is in this world? On OUR world?!¨ Leona nodded at the scared Matt ¨What are we going to do now?¨
Katarina stood looking at the outside ¨Prepare. That's what we are going to do¨
