Chapter 14: Yesterday's Just a Memory

Kyle bounced up and down on his heels as he waited. James was sitting by the window watching for the plane as well. They were waiting for Kendall and the guys to arrive. They had a small break between shows because Icsis was booked to play for a halloween party. The guys were coming back for a visit and Kyle was excited. It had been almost a month since he had seen Jared in person.

"Kyle clam down, they haven't even landed yet," James said looking to his eager son.

"Sorry, but it's been a month and I'm just eager to see him," Kyle apologized.

Kyle looked to the window as a plane touched down on the Tarmac. He started bouncing again. It took forever for the plane to taxi it's way to the terminal. Soon people were coming through the exit. James joined Kyle in his search for his husband.

Kendall exited the terminal with Jared, Noah, Matt, and Roldy all behind him. Kyle shot past Kendall to Jared, giving his dad a brief hello. He greeted the guys. They all greeted Kyle as well. Kyle fought the urge to just throw his arms around Jared and kiss him. He couldn't risk someone seeing. Kyle didn't want that kind of attention right now.

"Kyle dude, long time no see," Noah joked with a wink.

"Sure has been Noah," Kyle laughed.

"Come on I'm tired let's go home and get some rest. I want to be ready for that party tomorrow," Jared said directing his friends in the direction of the exit.

"Party?" Kyle asked as he followed the guys telling his dad's he'd be home later.

"Ten Kyle," Kendall said.

"Pops said eleven," Kyle replied as he took off with the guys.

"Ok eleven no later," Kendall called after him. Kyle waved him off as he raced to the exit.

Once they were outside Kyle led the guys over to his car. "It's not a limo, but it'll get you guys home," He said.

"I just wanna sleep in my own bed for once," Roldy replied.

"Lucky, my sister is staying in my apartment while we're on tour. I'm stuck at the Palm Woods with you dorks," Matt said shaking his head.

"Well, we do have an extra room now, I mean with Noah now rooming with Roldy," Jared said.

"Just get in the car, I wanna get out of here," Kyle said looking around.

The five piled into the car. Kyle in the drivers seat and Jared up front as well. The other three crammed themselves in the back.

Once they reached the Palm Woods the guys all took off after they grabbed their bags. Jared was the only one to stay behind with Kyle.

"Hi," Kyle said smiling.

"I missed you," Jared said, "I mean I know we talked on the phone and texted..." he trailed off.

"I missed you too," Kyle replied. He took a step in closer and pressed a quick kiss to Jared's cheek.

"Come on, let's get me all settled in for a few days," Jared sighed.

"Are you asking me to help you unpack?" Kyle asked grabbing Jared's bag and started for the entrance.

"Nah, why unpack when I gotta leave in a couple days," Jared replied.

"Oh so you're just trying to get me into your apartment so you can seduce me?" Kyle asked playfully.

"Maybe, is it working?" Jared asked with a grin.

"Maybe," Kyle replied. He took off ahead of Jared. He heard Jared laugh as he followed him. The two made their way up to 2J. Once they entered the apartment they saw the other three had already claimed the couch. They were already arguing over what to do. Matt and Roldy wanted to go to the pool and Noah just wanted to relax.

Jared just shook his head and led Kyle to his bedroom. Kyle tossed the bag aside and sat down on the bed. Jared climbed onto the bed and laid down. Kyle quickly moved until he was by Jared side. He rested his head in Jared's chest. He could hear his heart beat and everything felt right for the moment.

"I really missed you," Kyle said softly. He looked up at the bleached blonde and saw he was smiling.

"I missed you too," Jared replied.

Kyle leaned up and pressed a kiss to his lips. Jared smiled and pulled the blonde closer. He initiated another kiss. Kyle moved until he was straddling the older man. Their lip attached as if they were glued together. Jared's hand came down on Kyle's hips and pulled them closer. Kyle gasped and started to roll his hips into Jared's. The two parted once the need for air became to great.

"Should we be doing this with the guys in the other room?" Kyle asked quietly.

"If we're really quiet they won't even know," Jared replied with a wink.

"Jared we're going to the pool wanna join us?" Matt shouted.

"Maybe later!" Jared shouted back.

"Ok have fun and be safe!" Noah replied.

Kyle chuckled and buried his face into Jared's neck. Jared laughed and lifted Kyle's head. Their eyes met.

"There we are all alone," Jared replied.

"Let's take advantage of that then," Kyle replied before sealing their lips together again.

-We Are-

James smiled as he watched Kendall play with Jenny. It had been a month since he had seen his husband in person and this was nice. It was such a shame that he was only home for a couple days.

"So how have the kids been? Are they listening to you?" Kendall asked looking up at his husband.

"Yeah, Kyle really likes the gift you gave him," James replied.

"I thought he would," Kendall said smiling. "I've noticed he's been a bit lost lately. He just needs to find himself and the rest will come."

"He's really got a knack for music Kendall. He was messing around the other day and I think he's trying to write a song," James said.

"He's got songs written James, he's making music for them," Kendall said knowingly. "I told you he's got the ability and talent. He just needs to explore his options."

"I agree, but do you thinks it's wise? You saw how the paparazzi affected him as a child," James said.

"I know and it's something he will really have to think about," Kendall replied.

The two fell silent as they thought about Kyle. Out of all their kids Kyle was he one they usually worried the least about. Lately Kyle seemed a bit lost and Kendall and James weren't sure how to help their son. They didn't want to be pushy, but sometimes you just needed to nudge people in the right direction. They were trying to nudge Kyle and help him find himself.

"So how has Jenny been since I left?" Kendall asked looking to their youngest child.

"She's alright, she looks for you sometimes. She really likes when you video chat. She's always grabbing my phone saying dada," James said with a smile.

"Well she's a daddy's girl," Kendall replied with a grin, "Right Jenny?" He asked her. Jenny just smiled and babbled incoherently.

"Sure, I'll let you think that, but she's papa's girl," James replied. The two looked at one another and laughed softly.

"Who knows, we will love her the same," Kendall said picking Jenny up. He stood up as well.

"Of course, she's our baby girl," James replied holding his hands out to her. Jenny hid her face in Kendall's shoulder. "Ok maybe she will be a daddy's girl," he said. Kendall chuckled and leaned over and pecked James on the lips.

-We Are-

Adam adjusted Miri in his arms as her head started to slip down his shoulder a bit. Miri was passed out and he was bringing her back to Cooper's apartment. Cooper had given him another couple days with her. Adam was more than happy to be a part of Miri's life once more. Now if only Cooper wasn't so stubborn.

Adam knocked on the door and waited for Cooper to answer. The door opened and Cooper smiled once he saw Miri. Adam felt annoyed that he couldn't get Cooper to smile like that for him anymore. It was obvious that Cooper still had feelings for him, he was just in denial.

"I'm dropping her off, on time and everything," Adam said with a smile.

"Thanks, you can bring her to her room," Cooper said stepping aside.

"Uh sure, she passed out on the way here," Adam said bringing Miri into the apartment. He brought her to her room and laid her down.

"How was she?" Cooper asked looking at Miri and not Adam.

"She was good, she only few a couple fits and did that pouting thing when someone told her no," Adam said with a small chuckle. "I gave her a bath this morning and she just had lunch about an hour ago."

"Ok, good to know," Cooper said.

"Cooper we need to talk," Adam said biting his lip. Cooper still wouldn't look at him Adam left Miri's room and made his way back out to the living room. Cooper followed him.

"You always say that, yet you never bring up what you really want to talk about," Cooper replied.

"That kiss," Adam said. He noticed Cooper tense at that. It was something they had both been avoiding for over a month now.

"What about it?" Cooper asked still refusing to make eye contact.

"I just need to know, it meant nothing," Adam said.

"What?" Cooper asked finally looking at Adam.

"Just tell me it was the heat of the moment. Tell me it meant nothing," Adam said.

"Adam," Cooper said slowly.

"Please, I need to hear it. I need to move on Cooper. Only give me hope that you'll come around. I need to know there is no chance that you and I are ever gonna get back together," Adam said looking down at his hands.

Over the last month, Adam had realized that maybe him and Cooper getting back together wasn't what was best. Sure Adam wanted him back still, but Cooper had moved on. He was in a serious relationship. Cooper was in a much better place with his life. Adam wanted that too. He wanted to be able to move on with his life and not waste time wishing on something that was never gonna happen.

"Adam that was forever ago just forget it," Cooper said.

"That's not what I asked, Coop please I need to hear it from you," Adam practically begged.

"So what you want me to tell you it meant nothing to me? That I spend every second wishing it hadn't happened?" Cooper asked annoyed. "The truth is I can't tell you that because it would be a lie. I still think about it and you. I can't get you out of my head Adam, no matter how hard I try. I can't stop loving you even though it hurts," Cooper admitted tears welling in his eyes.

"Don't do this," Adam said shaking his head.

"I spent so long being mad at you," Cooper said walking up to Adam. Adam shook his head. "I spent so many nights wishing you'd never came back. At least I'd be able to get on with my life," he said stopping in front of the pregnant brunette.

"Cooper don't," Adam pleaded. He didn't want to go down this road. It was a dangerous path.

"Why, this is what you really wanted isn't it?" Cooper asked.

They were standing face to face. Adam could feel Cooper's breath on his lips. He wanted nothing more than to lean in and pressed their lips together. Adam didn't know if he'd be able to stop at a kiss this time.

"Don't start something you can't finish Coop," Adam warned him.

"Who said I wouldn't finish?" Cooper arched a brow at Adam.

Adam opened his mouth to protest but was cut off by a pair of lips on his and hands on his hips. Adam gasped and Cooper deepened the kiss using his tongue. Adam snapped and wrapped his arms around Cooper piling him closer. The kiss soon turned sloppy and hot.

The next thing Adam knew, he was being pushed down onto a bed with Cooper on top of him. Their clothes were quickly leaving their bodies. In the back of his mind Adam knew this was wrong, but he couldn't find the wards to protest with Cooper's lips on him. Thoughts drifted away a pleasure took over.

-We Are-

Damien bit his lip as he waited for Jake to get home. He needed to talk to him. Damien had put off talking to Jake about Italy for too long. He was scared that Jake wasn't going to like it. Damien knew Jake was big on family and he wasn't sure if Jake would want to leave them for Christmas and New Years. There is no way Jake would want to miss a holiday with his family.

"What's with the thinking face?"

Damien looked to his side at Jake. He hadn't even heard him come in. Damien smiled and pecked Jake on the lips.

"Just thinking is all," Damien replied.

"About what?" Jake asked curiously.

"Well, uh, actually I have something I need to ask you," Damien said gathering his courage. All he had to do was ask. It was up to Jake to make a decision.

"Ask away," Jake said with a big smile.

"Well I was wondering if you wanted to go away for the holidays?" Damien asked.

"Away? Where?" Jake asked confused.

"Italy, for Christmas and the New Year," Damien said slowly.

"Where in Italy?"

"Rome."

"Rome for Christmas and the New Year?"

"Yeah, we don't have to pay for our plane tickets. All we need to do is book a hotel and have some spending money for food and whatnot," Damien said quickly. "Plus we'll have Tito to show us around since he's giving us the tickets. Him and his mom are visiting family and have a few extra tickets," he added.

"Oh," Jake said slowly. He seemed to be thinking things over.

Damien nervously waited for an answer. He wasn't sure what Jake was going to say. His face was neutral. Jake had a great poker face.

"My dads aren't going to like this," Jake said slowly.

"Is that a yes?" Damien asked with a smile. Jake thought about it for a moment and nodded his head.

"Yeah, I mean my dads will probably be upset, but we are married now Day, we are allowed to do things on our own," Jake said with a smile. "I'll have to find my passport. I think my dads might have it," he added.

"Well we don't leave until December 18th. Make sure it's not expired or anything," Damien said.

"I will don't worry, this could be fun," Jake said slowly with a smile. Damien pulled Jake close and kissed him on the lips. Damien smiled, glad that Jake was excited for this.

-We Are-

Carlos bit his lip as he made his way to Logan's office. He had some news to share with his husband. He was sure that Logan wasn't going to like it. He knocked on the door and opened it. Logan looked up from the his laptop.

"What's up Los?" Logan asked.

"We need to talk," Carlos said walking into the room and around the desk. Logan shut his laptop and gestured for Carlos to continue. Carlos took. Deep breath and started. "Ok so you know I've been putting a lot of hours into the show lately?" He asked.

"I've noticed," Logan confirmed.

"Well the producers want to send me out to do some interviews on the east coast for a couple weeks. I've got all my scenes for the next couple episodes done and I'm even gonna be out of a couple episodes for storyline purposes and this is the perfect time to have me do this," Carlos said quickly.

"Oh," Logan said softly.

"I know this isn't ideal but I can't say no. The show is so popular and they want to get as much exposure as they can," Carlos reasoned.

"I get it Carlos, you gotta do what you gotta do. I mean it's your job," Logan said with a forced smile. It didn't even reach his eyes.

"I'll make it up to you I promise," Carlos said.

"It's ok Carlos, I understand. It's like when I was in med school and I had to do all those crazy hours to get residency," Logan said standing up. He pulled Carlos close and pecked him on the lips. "Go do what you gotta do, I'll be here waiting for you to get back," he said. Carlos nodded his head.

"I leave Sunday night and I'll be back in about two and a half weeks," Carlos said.

"We will have to let the kids know," Logan said.

Carlos nodded his head in agreement. He was going to tell the kids. He just wanted to talk to Logan first. He hadn't missed the hurt in his husbands eyes either. He knew him being gone all the time was taking its toll on Logan. He missed seeing Logan too. It was hard for him as well, but this was his job and it was hard. He worked long hours and when he wasn't working he was tired. It was hard at times, but this was what Carlos had wanted to do.

"So who's here? Which kids are home?" Carlos asked.

"Miles and Layla are home. I think Lilly is in another date with Artie," Logan replied.

"Artie seems like a nice kid," Carlos said casually. He really did like Artie better than Tony.

"Yeah, but I didn't know Mercedes had a son. I thought she had a daughter," Logan said slowly.

"People can have more than one kid Logan, it's been awhile since we even talked to Mercedes," Carlos replied.

"I know, I'm just saying. We lost touch with so many people," Logan said softly.

-We Are-

Jared smiled as he stepped up behind Kyle who was getting dressed. Jared placed his hands on Kyle's hips. Kyle stood up straight and nudged Jared who started laughing.

"Sorry Ky, I couldn't resist," Jared laughed

"You're awful," Kyle said shaking his head.

"But you love me," Jared replied.

"Yeah, I do," Kyle said turning around to face the older man. He pecked him on the lips.

"Come on, let's go kill some zombies before the guys get back," Jared said.

Jared grabbed Kyle's hand and led him out to the living room. He gently urged the blonde to the couch as he grabbed two controllers. He started the game.

"First one to the check point is the winner," Kyle claimed.

"Oh yeah and what does the winner get?" Jared asked arching a brow at him.

"A kiss from the loser," Kyle said leaning over and pecking Jared on the cheek. Jared laughed and accepted the challenge.

The two started killing zombies and trash talking. In the end Kyle was the first one to the check point. He got his prize and Jared challenged him again to the next check point. They kept going until they managed to finish the campaign.

"I love who we turn a co-op mission into survival of the fittest, which is me," Kyle said with a smug grin.

"Oh please I beat you," Jared said shoving the blonde.

"I let you beat me," Kyle replied shoving Jared right back.

"Hey now no need to get pushy," Jared said smiling.

"You started it," Kyle replied poking Jared in the side. Jared let out a cross between a laugh and squeak. "Ticklish are we Jer?" Kyle poked the bleached blonde again. Jared squeaked again and swatted at the offending hand.

"Stop," Jared said glaring slightly at the blonde.

"Why?" Kyle asked bringing his hand up to Jared's side once more. Jared started laughing and squirming away from Kyle as the door opened. The pair froze as the guys walked into the apartment.

"Interrupting are we?" Matt asked.

"No we were just killing some zombies," Kyle said pointing to the TV.

"Without me?" Noah asked hurt.

"Yeah, but I should've asked you to join because Jared sucks," Kyle teased.

"I could've told you that," Noah said as he walked over to the couch. Matt and Roldy followed him.

"I don't suck, you guys are just jerks," Jared replied.

Noah grabbed a controller and Kyle and Jared grabbed their and thy started playing. Matt and Roldy sat down to watch. The smack talk started and the three all started racing for the checkpoint.

-We Are-

Lilly smiled as she looked over at Artie. He was telling jokes and making her laugh. They had gotten some smoothies and were sitting in the Palm Woods park. Artie lived in the Palm Woods when his mother was away. She was always away for Artie was always on his own. He found the Palm Woods better than his home because people here liked him for him not because his mom paid them too.

"Wow, this place is crazy," Lilly said with a laugh. "My dads used to live here when they first came out to LA. I heard it was interesting here," she added.

"Definitely interesting, there doesn't seem to be a dull moment," Artie agreed.

The two sat in silence for a moment. Lilly looked up at the night sky. She could not help but think about Kyle again. He was always on her mind whenever she was with Artie and she felt bad about it. She hoped Artie didn't notice how distracted she was.

"Lilly," Artie said. Lilly looked at him once more. "This was fun, but you're not that into it are you?" He asked.

"What of course I am, this is the most fun I've had in awhile," Lilly admitted.

"Ok, but you're elsewhere. You're thinking about someone else aren't you? I'm not dumb," Artie said.

"I never said you were," Lilly said softly.

"Whoever he is, he's lucky to have your heart," Artie sighed.

"He's seeing someone else. I'm just not sure I'm really ready to move on Artie you're a great guy and I'm sorry," Lilly said.

"Well when you are ready, you know where to find me," Artie said standing up. "I'll walk you to your car," he offered.

"Thank you," Lilly said looking down at the ground. She stood up as well. She and Artie walked back to the Palm Woods and to the parking lot.

Lilly stopped when she saw Kyle and Jared sanding by his car. They were talking and Kyle was smiling. He took a step closer and kissed Jared. Lilly felt her heart sink at that. She turned away and moved over to her car. Artie looked at her questioningly

"It's nothing I'm fine, I'll see you around Artie," Lilly said with a smile. She leaned in and pecked him on the cheek. "You're a great guy and you'll find someone who cares about you too," she said.

"Thanks Lilly, I hope we can still be friends," Artie said.

"Of course," Lilly replied. Artie smiled and left. Lilly got into her car and left as well.

The whole drive home she couldn't help but think about Kyle kissing Jared. It hurt her more than it should have. She still wasn't over Kyle and it sucked. It sucked that he was so happy when she was so miserable.

Lilly arrived home and quickly made her way inside. She ran into Logan and apologized quickly.

"Have fun on your date?" Logan asked.

"Uh yeah, it was fine," Lilly replied.

"Oh mija we need to talk for a minute," Carlos said as he exited the living room.

"About what?" Lilly asked.

Carlos asked her to follow him into the living room. Lilly did as he asked. Carlos told her that he was going to be leaving for a couple weeks. He was going to be promoting Save Rock and Roll.

"Oh cool, so you'll be like in New York?" Lilly asked. Carlos nodded his head.

"So how was your date then?" Carlos asked.

"It was ok, I'm tired though, I think I'm gonna go to bed," Lilly said. Carlos nodded her head. Lilly left the living room and headed up to her bedroom.

-We Are-

Adam made his way up to Jake and Damien's apartment. He had snuck out of Cooper's apartment while Cooper was in the bathroom. Adam had left because he was scared of what was going to happen next. Cooper was in a relationship with someone else. Adam had caused Cooper to cheat and he didn't feel good about it. In fact Adam felt awful.

Adam shook those thoughts from his head. He needed to put on a charade for Jake and Damien. They didn't need to know what happened. For all they knew Adam and Cooper were just friends now. That was all they ever could be.

Adam walked into the apartment. Jake and Mason were in the kitchen talking and laughing, and Damien was sitting on the playing video games. Adam quickly slipped past the two in the kitchen but Damien caught him.

"Addie, I need some help wanna join?" Damien asked pointing to the extra controller on the coffee table.

"Uh sure, whatcha playing?" Adam asked grabbing the controller and syncing it.

"Zombie Attack 3," Damien replied.

Adam nodded his head and plopped down onto the couch beside his best friend. He quickly jumped into the game.

"So what took so long?" Damien asked quietly.

"What do you mean?" Adam asked slowly.

"You left like an hour and a half ago. It takes like five-ten minutes to get to Cooper's apartment," Damien said looking at Adam.

"Nothing, we just talked for a bit," Adam said shrugging.

"Sure you did," Damien snorted.

"Ok, ok, we uh-did a little more than talking. It was nothing," Adam said trying to focus on the game and not Damien.

"You guys just need to get back together all ready," Damien said shaking his head.

"It's not that simple," Adam sighed.

"Sure it is," Damien started.

"He's seeing someone else Day," Adam snapped. He tossed the controller down and ran to his bedroom.

Adam shut the door and fell back against the door. He fought back the tears as he thought about Cooper seeing someone else. It hurt to think that Cooper didn't really want him unless Adam pushed him and made him think about what they had. Cooper was in love with the memory of them and he no longer really saw a future for them. That much was sure. Things had changed and they were both different now. Things could never go back to the way they were.

Adam pushed himself off the door and walked over to his bed. He sat down wiping his tears away. He didn't want to think about Cooper, but Cooper was going to always be in his life. They had Miri and we're going to have another baby soon. Whether either of them wanted they were going to be a part of each other's lives.

So there you have it! Another chapter. So much going on. Kyle and Jared are reunited for a little bit. Adam and Cooper had sex! Adam wants more but isn't sure what Cooper wants. Can things go back to what they were? Have things changed too much? Dame in finally told Jake about Italy. Will they have fun? Carlos is leaving town for a bit, will it cause a bigger drift between him and Logan? Lilly and Artie are friends, will Lilly ever get over Kyle?

Always
