Chapter 15: Dumb Kid
Jake made his way into his dad's house. He never needed to knock. He called out to James who he knew was home. James popped his head out of the kitchen.
"Hey pops," Jake said following him back into the kitchen. "Did you find it?" he asked.
"Yes I found it," James said pointing to the small blue booklet on the kitchen counter as he returned to Jenny who was eating her lunch. "Something you wanna tell me?" James asked as Kendall walked into the kitchen.
"Dad I thought you were on tour with the guys," Jake said shocked to see Kendall.
"Icsis has a show here in LA not for the tour and we decided to take a few days off, so why the passport Jake?" Kendall asked.
"Uh, Damien and I are going to Italy," Jake said grabbing the passport. "For winter break," he added. Kendall and James both looked at Jake for a moment before it seemed to sink in. Jake wasn't sure, but they did not seem happy.
"For Christmas?" James asked finally.
"And the New Year," Jake said slowly, "Day's friend Tito has family there and invited us along."
"You're going away for the holidays?" James asked almost like he didn't want to believe it.
Jake had known this was going to happen. There was no way they were going to like this. Kendall and James both seemed to think he was a kid and that he was always going to be around. They didn't want to accept that Jake was an adult and was making his own plans now.
"Yeah, well Damien and I are married and we never really got a honeymoon and you can't always expect me to be around for every holiday pops," Jake said.
"We understand Jake, it's just a bit of a shock," Kendall replied slowly as he looked at James silently telling him to keep his mouth shut.
"Yeah, I mean you're old enough to make your own decisions," James said quickly.
"Well thanks for pretending to be ok with this guys, I appreciate it," Jake said turning to leave.
"Jake," Kendall said.
"No really it's ok, I get it," Jake said without stopping.
It seemed no matter what Jake did his dad's never seemed to approve anymore. They only saw Jake as a kid and not an adult. Disappointing his parents was something Jake was used to.
Jake left the house and got into his car. He sat there a moment. Was going to Italy really a good idea? Jake shook his head. He wasn't going to let them get into his head. Jake had made his decision and he was sticking with it.
Jake's cell phone started ringing. He answered it putting it on speaker. "Hey Day, what's up?" He asked.
"How did things with your dads go?" Damien asked.
"As well as I expected, they know I going, but they are not happy about it," Jake replied.
"Well ok, now all I have to do is tell my mother," Damien replied.
"You haven't told her yet?" Jake asked.
"No I told my dad and we agreed it's better to butter my mom up before we drop big news on her. Which is why we are taking her to dinner tomorrow night," Damien said.
"We?" Jake asked.
"Yes you too, don't worry I'll be the one to tell her," Damien chuckled. "Look I gotta go, my break is over and a table of ten just walked in. I'll talk to you when I get home ok, have fun handing out candy," he said.
"Alright, talk to you later," Jake said. He hung up and sighed. He hoped Camille was more understanding than his dad's were.
-We Are-
Kyle watched Jared and the guys run around the apartment getting ready for a halloween party. They had been invited by Icsis to their benefit show and after party. Everybody was gonna be in costume.
"You should come Kyle," Noah said as he looked in the mirror in the living room. He was trying to fix up his zombie makeup. He had a fake gash on his cheek and blood dripping from his chin. It looked good for Noah doing it himself.
"I don't have a costume," Kyle replied.
"You could be a zombie, Noah is amazing with zombie makeup," Jared said walking out of the bathroom.
Kyle looked the bleached blonde over. He was dressed as a cowboy, a sexy one at that. He was in all black with a white vest, red bandana tied around his neck and a white hat. He even had on cowboy boots. Kyle licked his lips as he stepped up to the blonde.
"I'd love to Jer, but my dad doesn't want us seen together acting couple-y in public, you know that," Kyle said looking his boyfriend up and down.
"That's the beauty of it," Jared said grabbing the blonde and ushering him over to Noah. "Noah can make you look unrecognizable," he said.
"Is my dad gonna be at this party?" Kyle asked. The guys shrugged. Kyle looked to Noah and then to the mirror.
"You only live once, why not," Kyle said with a grin.
Noah clapped his hands excitedly. He then set about getting Kyle a change of clothes and makeup. The clothes were old and worn. Noah started ripping and cutting the clothes almost immediately. Kyle just let him do as he pleased. Noah then got some black hair spray and sprayed Kyle's hair until it was completely black. Next he started on the makeup. He was very thorough. He left no visible spot left alone. He even ripped the bottom of Kyle's shirt revealing Kyle's abs. Noah whistled playfully.
"You hit the jackpot with this one Jer," Noah teased. Kyle looked away from Noah fighting a blush.
Noah continued working as the other three finished getting ready. They all stopped to watch Noah work though. He even ran to his room and got some prosthetics and got to work on Kyle's face.
Once he finished he led Kyle over to the mirror. Kyle looked at himself. His face looked like the right side of his face had been ripped off. His hands looked like they were covered in blood. He looked like a zombie ready for the big screen.
"Wow No, you've got some talent there," Kyle said impressed.
"He's been a zombie for Halloween since we were fourteen," Roldy said.
"Practice makes perfect," Noah replied.
"He's still really good at it, if the singing thing doesn't work Noah you have a fall back," Kyle teased.
"I know," Noah replied.
"Not bailing on us are you Noah?" Matt asked jokingly.
"Never, it's too much fun," Noah said.
"Glacia texted me, the limo will be here in ten minutes," Jared said looking up from his phone.
"Sweet, you guys ready for this?" Matt asked.
"Red carpet here we come," Noah said.
"Red carpet? Are you nuts! My dad is gonna kill me," Kyle said turning to Jared. "I can't do this."
"Sure you can, tonight you're not Kyle. Tonight you're my mystery date and we are gonna have fun," Jared said walking over to Kyle.
"Ok, but when you never see me again it's because my dad murdered me," Kyle replied with a small smile.
"Ok I'll keep that in mind," Jared laughed.
Soon they were all ready for the party. Matt was dressed up as a doctor in scrubs and a white coat. Roldy was dressed up as a policeman. He was all decked out in blue and had a set of handcuffs and a baton. The guys all headed down to the lobby where everybody was dressed up and talking.
"Guys!"
The four turned and smiled. A boy dressed up as a vampire ran over to them.
"Hey Artie, how's it going?" Noah asked.
"I didn't realize you guys were back," Artie said smiling, "you guys here for the party?" He asked.
"Nah we're going to a different party, Icsis is performing at the Halloween Spooktacular and got us on the invite list," Jared replied.
"Wanna come with, they said we could bring as many friends as we want," Matt said dropping his voice lower.
"Sure, it beats hanging around here where Taylor is," Artie said looking around.
"Is he still give you trouble?" Matt asked looking around.
"It's nothing I can't handle, thanks for the concern though," Artie said.
"Oh Artie, this is Kyle," Jared said quickly introducing the two. "Kyle this is Artie, he's cool."
"So your the boyfriend," Artie said. Kyle nodded his head in conformation. "Nice costume, you too Noah," he said.
"Thanks, I try what I can. I think I've perfected my zombie making skills," Noah said cockily.
"Careful No, you're ego is showing," Roldy said dryly.
"Where?" Noah asked spinning in circles trying to look at himself. The guys all laughed and shook their heads.
Jared's phone beeped. He checked it and saw it was another message from Glacia. They were outside. The group made their way outside to the stretch limo. The door opened and Glacia quickly ushered them in.
"Only two friends?" Chili asked as everyone settled in.
"Yeah, the only cool ones we have," Noah said bumping fists with Artie.
"This is Artie and Kyle," Jared said making introductions as the limo left the Palm Woods.
"Oh, you're Kyle," Glacia said moving over to sit beside him. "Jared doesn't stop talking about you," she said.
"Really now?" Kyle asked with a smile.
"I gotta say, you're not what I expected, I thought he said you were blonde," Glacia said.
"I am Noah is just really amazing at making zombies and took hairspray to my hair. I just hope it washes out easily," Kyle said.
"Relax Kyle, it's cheap can of hairspray you get for Halloween. It'll wash right out," Noah said shoving the blonde lightly.
"Ok what I don't get is we said bring friends and you only bring two?" Icy said looking at the guys.
"Everyone else had plans and like I said we only invited the ones who matter," Matt said.
"I know a couple people who would love to go to a party and can be ready in like ten minutes," Kyle said quickly.
"Really? Cause we still need to pick up Jenna. If they can be ready we will pick them up," Glacia said.
Kyle pulled his cellphone out he quickly dialed Miles number. He waited until Miles picked up.
"Hey where are you? With Jared right? Figures you'd ditch us," Miles said quickly.
"Shut up loser, I was going to ask if you wanted to go to a party, but I don't know," Kyle said baiting him.
"Party? Like at the Palm Woods?" Miles asked confused.
"Better, you just need a costume. Is Jay with you?" Kyle asked.
"Yeah so is Lucas," Miles replied.
"If you guys can be ready in twenty minutes," Kyle said looking to Glacia who nodded her head. "We will come pick you up, for one of the hottest Halloween parties ever," he said.
"Dude, were already ready we were just gonna egg a few houses," Miles replied.
"You are so immature, where are you guys?" Kyle asked.
"We are at Jay's house," Miles replied.
"Alright we'll be there soon," Kyle replied.
"We? We who? How are we all gonna fit in one car?" Miles asked.
"Don't worry about it, just be ready to go," Kyle said. He hung up and gave Glacia the address. She quickly told the driver.
"Who will we be partying with?" Timber asked.
"Oh my friend Jayda, she's an aspiring model and even has an offer from Cover Girl if she graduates high school, and then my best friend Miles and his brother Lucas," Kyle said quickly.
"Ooh a model? Maybe Jenna can help her. She's a model too and knows all the ins and outs," Glacia said.
"I know I've met her," Kyle said quickly without thinking. He forgot he was supposed to be Jared's mystery date.
"You've met Jenna?" Glacia asked slowly.
"Once, she was doing a shoot with my pa," Kyle said as Jared nudged him lightly. "What?" He asked looking at the blanched blonde cowboy beside him.
"I told them about you, but I might've left out a few details," Jared said slowly.
"Oh, so they don't know-" Kyle started.
"Yes," Jared cut him off.
"Wait who's your pa?" Glacia asked confused.
"James Knight," Kyle replied.
"Wait, you're Kendall's kid?" Winter asked making herself known for the first time.
"Well one of them, he's got five of us," Kyle replied.
"How old are you? I thought Kendall's kids were still young," Icy said quickly.
"Uh we're not that young, Jake is like twenty," Kyle replied.
"I asked your age, I was just curious because like I said, I thought you guys were still pretty young," Icy said.
"Let's just say I'm still in high school and leave it at that. Age shouldn't really matter, but to some people it does so that's why Jer and I aren't so public about our relationship," Kyle replied.
"We don't care about age Kyle, I mean Jenna and Glacia are like six years apart in age," Icy said pointing to Glacia. Glacia smiled and nodded her head.
"Yeah, but you were both over eighteen when you started dating. I'm sixteen and Jared's twenty. People are so judgmental," Kyle said looking down at his hands. "I really don't care what they say, but there is going to be backlash at this and it'll cause controversy. I don't want to ruin what the guys have going for them. They've all worked so hard and don't need some dumb kid messing it up for them," he said.
"Don't, you're not some dumb kid," Jared said.
"Yeah, you maybe a little smart-assed, but you're not dumb," Roldy said.
"They're right, I don't think I've ever seen Jared as happy as when he's with you. Don't let anybody define who you are Kyle," Noah said smiling at the blonde. "People will only love you as much as you love yourself," he said.
"Noah right, you only live once Kyle, why not make it worth it and do what makes you happy," Icy said, "I mean look at me and Tim, he's five years older than me and people said we wouldn't last a year. It's been almost nine years and we are as in love as we were the day we met, if not more," she said.
"Yeah, don't listen to the haters, just listen to your heart," Timber said.
"It not really the haters that bother me too much, it's my dads. They are not too thrilled about me dating Jer. They try to be, but I can see they're not really comfortable with it," Kyle replied.
"They'll come around, don't worry," Glacia said patting Kyle's shoulder.
-We Are-
Leora sighed as she sat in the living room with Lilly and Rion. They were all handing out candy at the Knights house. Kendall and James had a party to go to and and Jenny was going trick-or-treating with Adam and Miri.
"So how did it come to this? I mean we used to love Halloween Le?" Lilly asked looking to the blonde.
"I don't know, we got older," Lilly said.
"We got boring," Leora said.
"Well would you rather join Miles and egg houses?" Rion asked.
"No that's immature and they are likely gonna get caught. He's doesn't realize he's got famous dads now and this will come back on them," Leora said shaking her head.
"I already told him that," Lilly said.
"Let them have fun," Rion said.
"Whatever, how about we dress up a little, I've got some old Halloween costumes and we can have a little fun," Leora said.
"Costumes?" Rion asked.
"Witch hats and tiaras," Leora replied.
She jumped up and left the room. She headed to the basement and returned with a box of old Halloween costumes. The girls dug around and managed to scrap together three witch costumes and hats, wigs, and a small broom.
"Ooh, this doesn't like like your costume," Rion said picking up a small cowboy hat and a holster with a toy gun.
"No that was Kyle's, that was the year Lilly and I were princesses and he said he needed to be a cowboy to protect the princesses," Leora said with a smile.
"Oh I remember that, he didn't know that cowboys didn't protect princesses," Lilly replied with a laugh.
The girls chatted a bit and soon trick-or-treaters arrived. The handed out candy and oohed and awed at all the costumes making kids happy. A few younger girls even said that they all looked like pretty witches.
-We Are-
Kendall forced a smile as he and James walked down the black carpet that led to the Halloween Spooktacular. It was the hottest Halloween party and James had snagged an invite from Gia. She wanted him out and about and getting all the exposure he could. She wanted people to know who was going to be on her show.
"I thought we were done with this crap," Kendall said quietly to his husband. He was too used to being off to the side. The spotlight was a bit too bright for him nowadays.
"Relax, it's like riding a bike, you never forget, just leave all the talking to me and keep moving," James whispered back with a big smile petered on his face.
The two walked along and gave interviews. James was asked about his return to modeling and Kendall was asked about Inside Joke. He kept his answers short and mentioned the boys would be along shortly. Kendall had asked Icsis to make sure they were here. Inside Joke needed all the exposure they could get.
Once they were off the carpet, Kendall led James inside. The party was just getting started. The first band was performing and people were filing in. Drinks and snacks were out and people were mingling.
"Mingle, and have fun grouch," James replied guiding Kendall along. He was heading over to a tall strawberry blonde woman. She spotted James and grinned. "Gia it's so good to see you," he said. He kissed her on the cheek in greeting as she did the same. "This is Kendall," he said introducing the two. Kendall shook hands with her.
"So your James' new employer," Kendall said with a smile.
"Yeah, I hope you don't mind me stealing him away for a bit. Our judge Chantel is having a baby and left the show. I knew there was only one person I wanted on the panel," Gia said.
"Well I'm flattered G, I'm glad to have this opportunity and I can't wait," James said.
Kendall stood back as the pair talked. He didn't mind, modeling wasn't his area of expertise. He was a music producer and music was his forte. He spotted a few friends and excused himself. He needed to get away from all the model talk.
-We Are-
Layla laughed as she and Millie walked along the side walk to Erika's house. Kids were dressed up in costumes and running around. There were monsters, princesses, cowboys, and everything under the rainbow. They were all having fun.
"Man, to be young again, trick-or-treating was always fun," Millie said.
"Well any excuse to get free candy is fun," Layla replied.
The two approached Erika's house. Erika was standing on the porch talking to a boy Layla recognized from school. It was Zach Beaumont, he was the coolest guy in their grade and always hitting on girls. It seemed he didn't get the memo that Erika was taken. She seemed annoyed as Layla felt.
"Erika," Layla said practically ran up the porch. Erika looked to Layla with a smile. "Sorry we're late," she said walking over to her and pecking her on the cheek.
"Yeah, we had to walk," Millie added as she joined the two. Millie and Layla looked to Zach.
"Oh hi, Zachary is it?" Layla asked knowing how much he hated being called that.
"It's Zach and I was leaving," Zach said quickly. He turned and left. Layla smiled at her victory.
"Oh my god he could not take a hint thank you," Erika said turning and pecking Layla on the lips.
"No problem," Layla replied with a grin.
"Come on let's go watch some scary movies," Erika said pulling Layla inside. Millie follows after the two. They passed Tyke as he brought more candy to the bowl by the door. He gave the girls some candy as well.
"Thanks dad, we'll be in my room watching movies," Erika said as they all took me off up the stairs.
-We Are-
Adam made his way up to Cooper's apartment with Miri. Cooper had had to work so Adam had taken Miri trick-or-treating. He was returning Miri home once more, even though it still killed him to do so.
Adam hadn't actually talked to Cooper since they had had sex yesterday. Blaine had been the one to drop Miri off. He didn't seem happy to do it either. Adam wondered if Blaine knew what happened yesterday. Blaine was Cooper's older brother, of course Cooper would tell him everything. The two had gotten closer ever since their dad had died. Adam shook the thought from his head. The idea of Blaine knowing about their sex life wasn't a pleasant thought.
Adam reached Cooper's apartment. He knocked on the door and waited. Adam shifted from foot to foot nervously. He wasn't sure what was going to happen. The door opened and Cooper smiled when he saw Miri. He looked to Adam. Adam couldn't read his expression. Cooper took Miri from Adam.
"Hey, she uh had a few pieces of candy and everyone loved her costume. Your mom missed you and said to call her when you get a chance," Adam said slowly.
"Come in, we need to talk," Cooper said.
"I-uh-are you sure," Adam said slowly. He wasn't sure he wanted to talk anymore. Talking always led to more than talking. More than talking always led to Adam getting hurt.
"Just get in here," Cooper said grabbing Adam's hand. He gave a gentle tug telling Adam he had a choice. Adam but his lip and looked down the hallway a moment.
"Ok, but we are just talking," Adam said allowing Cooper to lead him into the apartment.
-We Are-
Miles was sitting on Jayda's front porch with Jayda and Lucas. They were all dressed up. Miles was a doctor with a mask and a white coat. Lucas was a werewolf, and Jayda was a pink pixie. She had a pink wig, tight pink dress, pink and black wings, and pink glitter everywhere. They were an odd bunch, but people didn't give them a second glance as they passed by the house. It was Halloween after all.
"How long did he say?" Lucas asked.
"Not too much longer," Miles replied.
"This party better be fun," Jayda said.
Miles' jaw dropped as a big stretch limo pulled up to the curb. Then again this was Kyle and he was always good and surprising people. Kyle jumped out of the limo and waved them over.
"I think it will be fun Jay," Miles said hopping up. He ran over to Kyle. "Where exactly is this party?" He asked.
"Hollywood, now come on we gotta go," Kyle said ushering the three into the limo. Once they were all settled Kyle made quick introductions. Jayda seemed star struck by Jenna. Jenna quickly struck up a conversation with her.
"How did you swing this one?" Miles asked Kyle as everyone talked amongst themselves.
"Icsis invited Jer and the guys and they said bring friends. They brought me and Artie and I said I knew a few losers who probably weren't doing much," Kyle replied.
"How kind of you," Lucas cut in.
"Well, this is gonna be so much better than what you had planned and besides you and Jay are Hollywood virgins," Kyle teased.
"Hollywood virgins?" Lucas asked.
"Someone who hasn't been to a real Hollywood party," Timber said. Lucas looked over at him. "Don't worry it'll be fun, and if you want to leave at any time just find one of us and we can get the limo and you can leave. You just have to tell the driver your address," he said.
"Well let's do this then," Lucas said with a smile.
"If Lucas is a virgin why isn't Miles? I thought you guys were brothers," Glacia said confused.
"It's a long story, but they were separated at birth and only really let each other about a year ago," Kyle said, "I've know Miles since we were in kindergarten. We've been to hollywoods parties," he said.
"Nice, but have you walked a red carpet? Or in this case a black carpet?" Icy asked.
"Him no," Kyle said pointing to Miles, "I was with my dad at his movie premier when I was little and with my pops all the time he was at a fashion show when I was young," he said.
"Oh yeah, your dad was in that kid movie," Timber said snapping his fingers as he tried to think.
"Homeland, it's about the aliens looking for a new home after their home is destroyed and they find earth and try to fit in," Kyle said.
"Yes that one, my littler sister loved that movie," Timber said quickly.
The group settled into mindless chatter. The limo stopped and the group go out. Tracy was. There waiting for them. Icy told Kyle and them to follow Tracy and they would see them in a bit, if they didn't want to walk the carpet.
"Oh please, my mom is a model/actress I was practically raised on the red carpet," Artie said with a wave of his hand.
Jared quickly pulled Kyle close. "Stick with me and keep your mouth shut, we are about to make a splash and make everybody wonder just who I'm with," Jared said.
"We'll see you on the other side Kyle," Lucas said as he and Miles walked over to Tracy. Kyle nodded and waved the two off. Jenna was glued to Glacia's side and had seemed to pulled Jayda with her. Icsis started down the black carpet with Inside Joke tagging along. Jared had Kyle pulled close.
The second they stepped onto the carpet the flashing started. Kyle put on a smile and stopped with Jared when the guys were stopped. Kyle stood slightly off to the side as they gave interviews. Jared kept a hand on Kyle's lower back as they walked. He seemed to be guiding the blonde along while showing him off.
As they neared the end someone finally asked the question Kyle had been waiting to hear.
"Jared, who's your friend?"
"This is a special friend of mine," Jared replied with a big smile. He then continued walking with Kyle's hand in his. The cameras went wild and Kyle could barely see.
Once they were off the carpet Jared turned to Kyle with a smile. "You did good blondie, now let's go have some fun," he said.
Jared led Kyle inside the building and to the party that was already in full force. A band was up on stage singing and the crowd was dancing and partying. Jared pulled Kyle away from the guys. He pulled Kyle close and they started dancing.
For the first time since they had stepped out tonight, Kyle felt relaxed. He let Jared pull him closer and practically grind on him. No one knew who he was. Everyone was curious as to who he was, but Noah did and amazing job. Kyle was going to leave them in the dark. He and Jared did deserve a little privacy, but being out in public with him and actually being able to hold his hand was nice too. Being able to be himself and just have fun with snared was amazing.
"Thanks for talking me into this Jared!" Kyle said over the music.
"I'm glad, I wish we could do this more often," Jared replied. He grabbed Kyle's hand and led him over to the snack table. The two grabbed a snack and moved off to a few of the empty chairs and sat down.
"This party is so much fun, I wonder how Miles and Jay are doing?" Kyle said looking around for the two.
"I asked the guys to keep an eye on them. Besides I don't think Jenna will let Jayda out of her sight," Jared said. Kyle slowly nodded his head as he scanned the crowd.
"You know Jared I expected to see you here, but not with a date."
Kyle whipped around and saw Kendall standing behind him. Kyle grinned up at his dad.
"Kendall, relax no one knows who he even is. He's my mystery date, you said get exposure, I'm gonna leave them guessing," Jared said quickly. "You might not want to look so pissed off. This was my idea not his, I didn't expect to see you here."
"Be careful," Kendall said simply.
"We will be, now go and make sure to tell pops the plan, cause he looks pissed," Kyle said pointing over to James in the crowd. He started over to the two. Kendall quickly cut him off and led him away from the pair.
"Now watch as rumors fly about them fighting," Kyle said shaking his head.
"It'll be fine, I think we made more of a splash, check this out," Jared said handing his phone over to Kyle.
Kyle looked at the phone. Jared was on Twitter and his mentions were blowing up with people asking who his mystery man was. There were already theories about who Kyle was. None of them were right. They were all actors who Hared had never even met or other musicians that they thought Jared would know. Kyle fought back a laugh as he handed Jared's phone back. Jared pulled Kyle close and held his phone up and took a selfie of the two and posted it to Twitter with the hashtags: #halloweenspooktacular #boyfriend #surprise.
"My dad is going to murder you," Kyle said shaking his head.
"At least I'll have died knowing you were happy, you know until your dad kills me," Jared chuckled.
Kyle stood up and pulled Jared up as well. He set off to find Lucas. He had the least experience with Hollywood out of everyone.
Kyle found Miles and Lucas with Roldy and Noah. They were all hanging out and laughing. Kyle was glad that they were fitting in nicely. They were making fools of themselves at least.
Kyle and Jared hung out with them for a bit. They all talked and laughed and danced. Lucas had managed to talk a girl into dancing with him. They were all just laughing and having fun and taking pictures.
-We Are-
"Oh my god, Kyle is nuts," Leora said shaking her head as she looked at her phone.
"What?" Lilly asked curiously. Rion looked over to the blonde as well. Leora handed her phone over.
Leora had been looking at Twitter and a picture of Jared and Kyle had popped up on her phone. Jared was dressed up as a cowboy and Kyle was a zombie. Leora barely recognized her brother, but by the message attached to the picture she knew it was Kyle.
"Let him have fun, it seems no one knows it's him," Lilly said handing the phone to Rion for her to take a look.
"He's got guts, quite literally," Rion said with a smile. Lilly and Leora laughed at her lame joke.
"Ok let's watch a movie," Leora said jumping up. She walked over to the movies and pursed her lips as she thought it over. "Ok either Last Halloween, or Friday the 13th," She said looking to the two.
"Remakes or originals?" Rion asked.
"We've got them all, have you met my dads," Leora asked with a laugh.
"Last Halloween remake, it's gorier," Lilly said.
"My thoughts exactly," Rion said.
The door bell rang. Leora tossed the movie to Lilly telling her she'd be right back. Leora walked down the hallway to the door. She grabbed the candy bowl and opened the door with a smile. Her smile grew as she saw Caleb standing there.
"Hey, what's up? Your dads home?"
"No but Lil, Ri, and I are about to watch Last Halloween, wanna join us?" Leora asked stepping aside for him.
"Sure, I just got done taking Hunt trick-or-treating, I need some scary movies," Caleb said stepping into the house and shutting the door behind him.
The two made their way to the living room. Lilly had started the movie. The two on the couch turned to greet Caleb as they all settled in for the movie.
-We Are-
Kyle followed Jared and the guys up to their apartment. He and Kendall had been texting all night and they agreed that the best plan of action was for Kyle to stay the night at the Palm Woods and to wait until the morning to leave.
"I'm surprised your dad came up with this arrangement," Jared said as they walked into his room.
"Me too, I need to shower though," Kyle said looking down at his hands and arms. He seriously hoped all this makeup would come off.
"Have at it," Jared said pointing to the door on the other side of his room. Jared had claimed the room with the adjoining bathroom forcing the others to share the other bathroom.
Kyle walked into the bathroom and first started to scrub his face and removed the prosthetics Noah had applied. Once Kyle was satisfied that his face was clean he started the shower. He shed his clothes and got in and set about scrubbing his body. Once he deemed himself clean he stepped out of the shower, turning it off. He grabbed a towel and dried himself off.
He looked to the sink counter and saw a pair of boxers there and a t-shirt. Kyle smiled because those hadn't been there when he started his shower. Kyle grabbed the boxers and slipped them on. He left the bathroom.
Jared was sitting up in bed with his nose buried in a comic book. Jared was wearing a t-shirt and had a blanket covering his waist. The only light on was the lamp beside the bed. Kyle walked over to the bed and climbed up next to Jared. Jared turned and looked to the blonde.
"Hi," Kyle said smiling.
"Hi," Jared replied. Kyle quickly joined Jared under the covers and got comfortable laying against the bleached blonde. "I see you skipped the shirt I left you," Jared said looking down at the blonde.
"I like to sleep in my underwear," Kyle replied with a mischievous smile.
"I'm sure," Jared said setting his comic book aside. He turned and lamp off and moved until he was laying down. Kyle snuggled up to him once more.
"Night Jer," Kyle said softly.
"Night Ky," Jared replied pulling the blonde closer.
Kyle felt super content right now. He wasn't sure if it was the fact that he and Jared had a very public date or that he was here with Jared and going to sleep. All that Kyle knew was that he was happy. There was a nagging thought in the back of his mind though.
"Jer?" Kyle asked quietly. Jared hummed tiredly showing Kyle he was awake. "Do you think I'm a dumb kid?" He asked.
"Stop that, I already told you, you weren't," Jared said hugging the blonde tighter. Kyle smiled and allowed Jared to hold him. He knew it was true, he just needed to hear the words out loud. "You are more than a kid to me Kyle. Your my love, you're my everything and don't let anyone tell you otherwise alright," Jared said.
"I just needed to hear you say it one more time," Kyle replied.
-We Are-
Jake sighed as he looked up at the ceiling above him. He couldn't stop thinking about how his dad's had reacted to his news. It still hugged him that they treated him like he was some dumb kid. Jake was twenty and living on his own. He was an adult and could make his own decisions.
Jake brought his hands up to his face and rubbed his eyes. Damien was laying beside him sleeping peacefully and Jake was jealous. His dad was happy for him and encouraged Damien to pursue his dreams. It was so unfair.
"Stop thinking so hard," Damien said from beside him. Jake jumped and looked over to Damien. He had his eyes closed and Jake had thought he was sleeping already. "I can practically hear your inner turmoil Jake. I told you to forget it and think about something else. They will come around, they always do," he said.
"I know, but I'm tired of the disapproving looks," Jake sighed.
"Look at it this way Jake, they're not ready for you to grow up they want you and Adam and the others to all be their babies forever. My mom is the same way," Damien said.
"I know, it's just I'm not a kid anymore," Jake sighed.
"Relax, they know that, it's just the first time you're not going to be around for Christmas and they still want you to be there," Damien said.
"I know, I know," Jake sighed. He rolled over and pressed his face into Damien's chest. Damien wrapped an arm around him.
Jake knew Damien was right. His dad's would come around sooner or later. They just needed a little time.
There you go another chapter from me. So Kyle and Jared are pushing the limits. Will they be discovered? Will people be accepting of them? Will their happiness last? Adam and Cooper had a talk. Just what exactly did they talk about? Jake told his dad's he's going away for the holidays, will they come around?
