Chapter. 19: Just Hear Me Out

Kyle signed as he made his way inside house after Leora. She was babbling away about some gossip she heard and Kyle was pretending to listen.

"You ok?" James asked as he walked out of the kitchen having heard his kids enter the house. He looked to Kyle specifically.

"I'm fine pops," Kyle said forcing a smile.

In all honesty Kyle wasn't fine. He had been loosing sleep worrying about what everyone at school thought about him now. It was obvious they all believed the rumors. Everyone wanted to know the truth and they were relentless. Kyle was loosing sleep and falling behind in his school work. On top of that Jared now seemed to be pressuring him to just come out. It was cashing argument between the two. They wouldn't talk for a couple days and then they'd make up and start the process all over again.

"Are you sure?" James asked slowly.

"M'fine pops, I'm just a little tired," Kyle said.

"I know, your principal called and told me you've been falling asleep in class," James said.

"It was one class and we were just watching a dumb movie. It won't happen again I promise," Kyle said quickly. "I've got homework to do, I'll be in my room," he said.

"That means homework, not music, or Jared," James called after him as he took off up stairs.

"I know, I know," Kyle called back. He raced into his desk and quickly pulled out his phone and his text books.

Kyle stared at his phone and bit his lip. He wanted to check Facebook and Twitter, but he didn't want to see what people were saying about him or his dad's for letting this happen.

There were still other rumors about who Jared was dating too. The most consistent one, aside from Kyle was Gavin Collins of Vivid Insanity. Gavin seemed to be popping up just about everywhere Jared was. Jared told him that it was just a coincidence and Kyle had nothing to worry about. It was also another argument the two had been having.

Kyle shook his head and set his phone down. He didn't need to put himself through that rout now. Kyle knew who his real friends were and it didn't matter what anybody said about him. Kyle pulled out a note book and opened his algebra book.

"Hey."

Kyle jumped slightly and turned to see Leora standing in the doorway of his bedroom.

"What do you want Leora, I've got homework I need to do," Kyle said.

"I just wanted to make sure you were ok," Leora said slowly.

"I said I'm fine," Kyle said quickly. He was really getting annoyed with people asking him that.

"Kyle, you told me if I needed to talk you'd be there. Well same goes here, if you wanna talk, you know where to find me,"

"Thanks Le, I'll keep that in mind, but I've got a lot of homework to do," Kyle sighed. He just wanted her to go away. He wanted to be alone. Leora just nodded her head and left finally.

Kyle sighed and turned back to his homework. It was gonna be a long night.

-We Are-

Kendall smiled at Jenny as she babbled and played with James' phone. He was video chatting James and Jenny. It was nice to see them rather than just talking to them. Jenny seemed happy to see Kendall.

"Ok Jenny, time to give papa the phone," James said from off screen. James came into view.

"We miss you Kendall," James said smiling at the blonde

"I miss you guys too," Kendall said with a small smile.

"You've got a month left of tour right?" James asked.

"Give or take," Kendall said nodding his head. "Don't worry though once this is done we are done. We are not going over to Europe. The guys wanna get back to work on recording for their album," he said.

"Good, cause I don't think I could go four more months without you here," James sighed.

"I know me either," Kendall said.

"It sucks that you're not gonna be here for thanksgiving next week," James sighed.

"I know, but we've got several more shows. I think we will be in Atlanta," Kendall said slowly. "God I'm losing track of days here. I don't even know where we've been," he chuckled.

"You're tired, you need to relax and get some sleep," James said knowingly. He knew his husband well enough to know he wasn't sleeping while on the road. Kendall was a perfectionist and stubborn to boot.

"I know, I know, buts it's difficult to relax when you've got four boys who think they know everything," Kendall sighed.

James laughed and could help but think about the irony of the situation. Kendall used to be on he opposite end of this situation before. Kendall used to be the instigator and annoy the hell out of Gustavo when they were younger. He was now in Gustavo's shoes.

"Don't laugh, I get it now why Gustavo was always yelling at us," Kendall said.

"Yeah, now you have to be the boss and yell," James chuckled.

"Ok enough talk about me, how are things on your end," Kendall asked changing the subject.

"Good, production starts on January," James said.

"Yeah, so all the auditions are done and now you get to be a judge and mentor?" Kendall asked.

"Yep, then I'll be working like five days a week," James said dismissively. "It's gonna get hectic. I'm just glad we have a nanny for Jenny now."

The two continued to talk about work and the kids. It was nice being able to just sit and talk to one another. It has been so long since they had had a moment like this. It was nice.

-We Are-

Jared yawned as he climbed out of his bunk. He wasn't sure what time it was, or for that matter what day it was. The days were we're all starting to blur together. Touring was fun, but this just seemed to be dragging on. Maybe it was because he was missing Kyle, or this was longer than their last tour. Whatever the reason, Jared was tired.

Jared made his way to the small living area of the bus. Matt was sitting at the table with his laptop out and headphones in. Roldy and Noah were sitting on the couch together. Jared headed to their food cupboard and pulled out a box of crackers. He fell onto the couch next to his friends.

"Don't you'll get crumbs anywhere," Roldy said nudging Jared.

"When did you become a nag?" Jared asked looking at his friend.

"He's always been a nag," Noah said quickly before Roldy could reply.

"Hurtful," Roldy said looking at Noah shocked.

"It's true, but I can overlook it because I love you," Noah said hugging Roldy. Jared laughed and shook his head at the two. They were a pair.

"Shit!"

Matt snapped his computer shut and tossed his headphones down. The guys all jumped as Matt's sudden outburst. They all looked over at their friends and he seemed upset.

"What's wrong Matty?" Jared asked standing up and moving over to his friend. Noah and Roldy did the same thing. They all sat down at the table.

"It's Mia," Matt sighed.

"What about her? Is she sick again?" Jared asked quickly.

Mia was Matt's four year old niece. She loved Matt and it was clear that Matt would do anything for her. Mia had a history of being sick and at one point needed a blood transfusion. Matt had been heart broken when he was told his blood didn't match Mia's and he could help her. They had found an anonymous doner and Mia got the help she needed. She had been getting better it seemed. This was a shock to the guys.

"Yeah, Marney says she's getting sick again and might need another transfusion," Matt said slowly.

"Do they have a match for her?" Noah asked.

"Not yet, but she doesn't need it yet. They are holding off for now," Matt said.

"Are they gonna be looking for a match again?" Jared asked.

"Probably," Matt sighed.

"I'm sure everything will be fine," Noah said smiling slightly. "Just tell her we are all thinking of her and wishing her well," he said.

"I'll pass the message along," Matt sighed. He grabbed his laptop and disappeared to the back of the bus.

The other three sat there staring at where he had left. None of them knew what to say. All they could think about was poor Mia being in the hospital again.

"I hope she's ok," Noah said softly.

"Yeah, who knows maybe that anonymous doner will donate again," Roldy said looking at Jared pointedly.

"I'm sure they will, now shut your mouth," Jared said standing up and moving over to the couch. Noah looked between the pair confused.

"What are you two on about," Noah asked slowly.

"Nothing, it's just Mia has a rare blood type that's only passed on genetically," Roldy said.

"Well I figured she got screw in the genetic department so if try and help out," Jared said.

"You're the doner? How?" Noah asked confused.

"Mia is the product of a one night stand Marney had with my dear old cousin," Jared said slowly, "Marney knew it, Ross did, and so did I. You're precious Roldy figured it out after Mia got sick, and found out about her genetics," he said.

"Oh, you mean..." Noah trailed off.

"Yep, I don't think Jace even knows," Jared said shrugging.

"Wow," Noah said slowly.

"Are you serious?"

The guys all turned to see Matt standing a few feet away. He seemed surprised to be learning this news.

"Matt!" Jared said shocked.

"I mean, I knew Ross wasn't her biological father but Jace? Really?" Matt asked.

"Yeah, it was shortly after everything with Noah and then he left," Jace said, "Marney had no idea about what he did to you by the way," he added quickly looking to Noah.

"Wow, so why didn't you tell me you were the doner?" Matt asked confused.

"Because Marney asked me not to tell. She wanted people to believe that Ross was Mia's dad. It's what they agreed on. Beside you were so upset that you couldn't help her and I didn't want to piss you off by being the guy that helped her when you couldn't. I wasn't supposed to even say anything. This was supposed to be a one time thing," Jared said.

"You'll help her again won't you?" Matt asked.

"In a heart beat," Jared replied.

"Good," Matt said sitting down next to Jared. He then punched him on the arm. "Next time don't keep secrets. We are friends, we can tell each other anything," he said.

"Agreed, why did you have to hit so hard?" Jared asked rubbing his arm.

"It's the only way you seem to learn Munroe," Matt replied.

"Ok, just keep us updated on Mia ok," Noah said looking at Matt. He nodded his head.

-We Are-

Miles smiled as he walked Rion up to her front door. Miles had taken Rion out to a restaurant on the beach. They had taken a walk and just talked. Now it was time to say good night. Miles didn't want to say good night and leave, but he was sure his dad would kill him if he didn't.

"I had fun tonight Miles," Rion said smiling at him.

"Me too," Miles said with a grin. He leaned in and pecked her on the cheek. Rion turned and caught his lips in a kiss.

"You don't have to be scared Miles," Rion teased.

"I'm not scared, it's just late and I know your dad has a shot gun," Miles joked. Rion laughed at that.

"Good night Miles," Rion said.

"Good night Ri," Miles replied. He quickly stole another kiss before he turned and walked away. He turned before he got into the car. He saw Rion standing in the doorway watching him. She waved at him. Miles waved back.

Miles got into the car and started to drive away. He couldn't help but think about when Fran had interrupted them. It had been in the back of his mind ever since that night. He was curious as to where Rion had been going with things. Miles wanted to start taking that next step, but he was nervous. He had never done anything past kissing a girl before he met Rion. Miles just didn't want to mess anything up. He didn't want Rion to think he was a bumbling fool and dump him.

Miles sighed, Rion want like that though. She would never just dump him for that. At least Miles hoped. He could sense that Rion was getting a but impatient with him. Miles just didn't want to disappoint her. She had obviously done stuff with her previous boyfriends and that made Miles just a little anxious.

-We Are-

Adam slowly tiptoed into the apartment. It was late and he didn't want to wake anyone up. He had been over at Cooper's and lost track of time. It seemed the harder they tried to take things slow, the faster they went.

Adam slowly crept into the apartment using his phone as a light source. He was trying not to make noise. He knew Mason was working, but Jake and Damien were home. They were both most likely asleep. Adam wanted to keep it that way.

The light flipped on nearly blinding Adam. He looked to the light switch and saw Damien. He smiled innocently at his friend.

"Hey Day, how's it going," Adam asked casually. "I just went out for a walk," he said pointing to the door.

"At midnight?" Damien asked.

"Yeah, it's lovely at night," Adam said quickly. He wanted to tell Damien the truth, but Damien would tell Jake and then Jake would tell their dads and they would all tell Adam what a big mistake this was.

"Ok, how about the truth now," Damien said.

"That is the truth," Adam said with a smile.

"Oh really?" Damien asked arching a brow at the pregnant brunette. It seemed like he knew something he wasn't saying.

"Oh just say it already," Adam sighed.

"You were with Cooper weren't you?" Damien asked.

"Maybe," Adam said, "so what we have a daughter together and soon we'll have a son."

"I didn't say anything Addie, just be careful. You've been down this road before," Damien said turning to head back to his bedroom.

"Please don't tell Jake, Coop and I are trying to figure this out and we don't need our family and friends breathing down our necks," Adam said.

"Mums the word," Damien replied. Adam smiled and followed Damien down the short hallway. They parted way into their own rooms saying a quick good night to each other.

Adam walked into his room. He quickly shut the door behind him. He really hoped that Damien would keep his word. Adam really didn't want his family meddling in his personal life right now. He just needed a little time to figure things out with Cooper.

-We Are-

Kyle was sitting at his computer. It was after midnight and he couldn't sleep. Kyle had his headphones on and was listening to a recording of himself he had made.

Over the last few months Kyle had really taken to music. He was writing a song and even recording himself. It wasn't half bad. Kyle knew how to work all the music programs thanks to Kendall. He was becoming quite the pro.

Kyle's phone buzzed beside him. He took his head phones and hung them around his neck. He grabbed his phone and saw a text from Jared.

I know you're probably sleeping, but I just wanted to say sorry and I miss you. I don't mean to be pushy, but you're being stubborn too you know. Please call me when you get this, I just want to hear your voice. Love you.

Kyle sat there smiling at the message. Sure they had been fighting a bit more lately, but all couples fought. Kyle smiled and dialed Jared's number. He hit call and waited for Jared to answer.

"Hello? Kyle? Did I wake you I'm sorry."

"Hey Jer, don't worry I've been up for hours. I can't sleep," Kyle said. "I'm sorry too," he added quickly.

"It's ok Kyle, you're not ready, I get it," Jared said.

"I'm sorry," Kyle said again.

"Don't be, it's alright," Jared said softly.

"No it's not. I'm acting like a little spoiled brat and you should be furious with me," Kyle whined. He hated that Jared was t mad at him. If he were in Jared's position he might be a little mad.

"Yes you are, but I would expect anything less from Kyle Knight the world most stubborn person ever, I hear it's something he gets from his dads," Jared said.

Kyle laughed at that one. He quickly covered his mouth though. He couldn't be too loud. He didn't needs Leora or James waking up. James would lecture him and Leora would want to talk again.

"Yeah it is, I'm like stubborn squared," Kyle joked. Jared laughed this time. It was nice to be having a civil conversation again. Kyle missed it.

"So how's school been? Are people still bugging you?" Jared asked.

Jared was one of the two people Kyle had told about the rumors getting to him. The other was Miles and he was ready to kick anyone's ass if they bugged Kyle. Jared on the other hand talked Kyle down from a freak out and calmed him. Both of them were helping him in different ways. Kyle was glad to have a best friend like Miles and a boyfriend like Jared.

"It ok, Miles snaps at anyone who tries to even ask about you. He gets all snooty and it's hilarious to watch," Kyle said quickly.

"I'll bet, Miles is quite a character," Jared said slowly.

"I know and pair him with me and you've got trouble, at least that's what I've always been told," Kyle chuckled lightly. He was trying not to be loud.

"So I've got a question," Jared said slowly.

"Ok, shoot," Kyle replied.

"Please don't take this the wrong way, just hear me out," Jared said quickly.

"What Jared?" Kyle asked slowly. He knew where Jared was going with this and he didn't know why. They had just apologized and were talking again.

"I just wanna know why are you so scared of coming out to people," Jared said slowly.

"Jared," Kyle sighed.

"No Kyle I'm serious. I get that you're stubborn and trying to get you to do something you don't want to do is damn near impossible. I just wanna know why, I've been going nuts trying to come up with reasons and the best I can come up with is you're ashamed of me," Jared said his voice trailing off.

"It's not like that," Kyle said slowly. He really didn't want to argue with Jared. This was dangerous territory though. He had to be careful of what he said. "I love you Jared, but we have to think this through, us coming out will not only affect us but the guys will be too and my dads. People are already treating me differently at school," he said.

"You're just making excuses," Jared said coolly.

"So maybe I am, maybe I'm not ready for the type of relationship you want. After all I am just a kid," Kyle snapped.

"That's not what I said," Jared sighed sounding annoyed.

"It was implied, I'm not dumb Jared. Good night," Kyle said before hanging up. He tossed his cell phone onto his desk.

Kyle stared at his phone as it started vibrating again. He saw a picture of him and Jared smiling at the camera as Jared's name and number appeared on his screen. Kyle quickly rejected the call. He didn't want to talk right now. He turned his phone off and walked over to his bed. He fell down onto it fighting back tears.

-We Are-

Jared threw his phone down on the couch beside him. He hadn't meant to upset Kyle. He just wanted to know what Kyle was so scared of about telling the truth about them.

"Trouble in paradise?"

"Don't sound so pleased about it," Jared said looking to Roldy. Roldy chuckled and walked over to the bleached blonde. He sat down beside him.

"Word of advice?" Roldy asked.

"What?"

"Stoping being a douche," Roldy said.

"Excuse me?" Jared asked shocked.

"Don't get me wrong Jer you're my best friend, but I know you better than you know yourself. When things don't go your way you start pushing people away and you can be a bit douchey," Roldy said.

"Gee thanks Ro," Jared said sarcastically.

"I'm serious, you better stop testing Kyle's patience, otherwise you won't have a boyfriend," Roldy said.

"I know, but I don't get what's he's so scared of," Jared said.

"He's sixteen Jared and he's dating a twenty year old. He's got school and peers judging him. Plus his dad's are Kendall and James Knight. He's got a lot to live up to. People are probably comparing him to them as well," Roldy said.

"Why are you so smart," Jared asked.

"One of us has to be and well it's obviously not you," Roldy said.

"You've gotten mean," Jared said shoving Roldy playfully. Roldy laughed and shoved him back.

There you go another quick chapter. Kyle is affected by the rumors. Will it get worse when he comes out? Kyle is hesitant and Jared is being pushy. Will they work through it? Damien knows about Cadam now, will he keep his word and not say anything? Kendall and James are missing each other can they survive a few more weeks apart?

So there you go. I hope you all enjoyed this chapter. It's a quick little filler for now. Some drama on the way. See you Saturday, I hope. Sunday at latest.
