This, as you can see, is not a chapter but probably something good for me and those who have been following my stories.
For those who haven't noticed today is March 2, and what's so important with this date? Simple: A year ago, I started Summoning Magic in hopes to make a successful fanfiction, but the real reason why I made it was to relieve quite some stress from my life. 2014 was not a good year for me and by the end of it I started reading some fanfics in this webpage; I don't recall which was the first one but it had Irelia and Ahri as well as an OC Summoner. Sadly that story was never finished (actually it was, but with a way too open ending) and decided to read up some other ones, most specifically with OCs going to Runeterra and interacting with Champions and vice-versa.
Then there was this story I started to read called `A thorny relationship´ (shoutout to the author ADamnGoodName) and I liked it! This inspired me to write my own fanfiction with the same idea of the Champions appearing on our planet and interacting with people.
And so with a lot of ideas in my head, around the midnight of the 1st of March I started Summoning Magic and I finished it at around 0:30 of the 2nd of March, posting the prologue of the story.
It is quite noticeable that English is not my native language and therefore there are A LOT of grammatical mistakes, and of course I never wrote stories in English either, meaning that a lot of words were repeated from time to time. There was also another problem and is that I do come back with some ideas during the same chapter, and for some reason I forgot to erase the line that was already written and sometimes it gets very weird when you people try to read it (For example, you see a word where it does not supposed to be, right there is where I forgot to delete).
So, as I started making the chapters, every 5 minutes I went into my email and checked if I received a follow, favorite, PM or even a review, but sadly none of those happened. Still I checked every hour for the webpage to see if I some people actually read my story and yes, some did at the beginning, probably 10 unique readers per chapter. It was around the fourth chapter that I started to receive my first review and some of the follows and favorites as well; needless to say I was probably the happiest person in the world.
I don't think I have that much to tell about this since I mentioned some things of myself with every chapter, either in this story or the other 2, but I want to dedicate this `chapter´ to mention some things as of why I picked those Champions, why the Summoner's names, and the why on every villain. This also includes some interesting facts about Summoning Magic, so here we go!
Summoning Magic's fun facts!
1) The reason I chose Leona, Katarina and Caitlyn as the first Champions that appeared on the Earth were because Leona is waifu number 2 in my LoL waifu list, Katarina was basically the same, but she is the number 1. Caitlyn is not on the top 5 but I felt that the team needed someone who has some knowledge about the modern technology.
Thresh on the other hand was mostly because there had to be some sort of enemy within the group. Back when I introduced Marie, she wasn't that friendly with the trio and therefore, having a Shadow Isles Champ was fitting in my opinion.
Why Irelia? Because I couldn't think of any Ionian Champions that could go to top lane at that time (Inb4 Wukong, Shen, Kennen, Lee Sin) but then when the idea of Lissandra came into my head, I also thought of Frostblade Irelia and how she got that skin.
Why were Vi and Jinx introduced? Because since Caitlyn was already in the story, her partner must be there as well! Then again, if the Piltover's Finest are reunited, then their rival should appear too.
Yordles, why? Plot development? Nah, I thought that Nick needed the company (or problem) of the three furry dwarves, and since he was the last Summoner to learn all of the spells; he would be quite clueless on how to return them to Runeterra.
Maokai was the rival of Thresh (in my story, it is not canon people) since he was trying to remove the influence the Warden has over Marie. He is probably the only Champion from the Shadow Isles that I believe to be the lesser evil.
The Void Champions are self-explanatory, right? The main villain was Malzahar and therefore he had to be in charge of his minions, this also includes his rival, Kassadin (wherever he is right now)
Lissandra, Trundle and Volibear. Although the Volibear bit will be explained on the Meeting the Winter's Wrath fun facts, the Ice Witch was added because there was a Champion missing in the party (and returning to the how Irelia became the Frostblade skin) and considering it was still winter in NY, might as well use the woman made of ice! Trundle… well; he is the only ally Lissandra has.
Now everyone will think: What about Graves? And what happened to him? After helping Richard with the bank heist and abandoning him afterwards, he helped Claire and disappeared from existence. First, considering his title, it would be fitting if he was a criminal in this world. Second, I had an idea to make him appear in Meeting the Winter's Wrath, but I later discarded it.
But I'm forgetting about all the characters that appeared back when the group was at the Institute of War (Diana, Garen and Xin Zhao being the new ones). It is also self-explanatory, the rivalry between Diana and Leona had to happen sooner or later, then the secret love between Garen and Kat and how the former is a friend with Xin Zhao.
2) In all of my stories, I made references to games to a big extent, either by implanting a whole idea or by just mentioning quotes or similar. First and foremost: The entire bank heist was based on the PAYDAY franchise, the quote said by Richard to the civilians was copied from the first heist in the first game (that later was re-made into PAYDAY 2) although some could argue that the same quote was originally mentioned in the movie Heat (and of course, Payday was based of that movie).
The second one revolves around the second villain that appeared, Richard. The clue was almost easy for those who played the game, if not, the reference was from Hotline Miami. Although the main character does not have a name (everyone in the community calls him Jacket due to his clothes) he uses an animal mask, and all of them have a name too (Richard being the rooster mask and the main one) All of the animals I mentioned during the chapter `The Heist´ are also references to the other masks in the game.
3) Even though there isn't a self-insert (representing myself with a character) I'd like to think that every Summoner has a bit of me in each one, either being protective with family (Claire), friends (Nick) and even being the funny/dumb guy sometimes (Matt). But that doesn't mean all the characters have good traits and all that! There are characters who made bad decisions in their lives (Ralzith) and those who lost their complete trust with those who he/she called friends (Marie)
4) My idea was to write lemons, and more than one.
First and foremost Matt and Caitlyn, probably one of the favorite pairings by all of you, but every time I wanted to get to that part, Vi cock blocked them. When she appeared is when I considered that it was way too cheesy for me and I decided to cut the action there (this also happens in Heroes and Legends people!)
Nick and Leona were the other pairing I wanted to make a lemon of, and even though I mentioned how I see Leona as the motherly type Champion, she is still young and quite lemon-able for my story.
Claire and Katarina were going to be an option (either a lemon or just a simple romance) but then I couldn't go with the canon of GarenxKat already established.
No. Marie and Thresh were NEVER going to be a pairing, even if it was a weird human and spectral romance, no. I struggle to make a human x human lemon, let alone a human x non-human one!
Surprisingly, a Ralzith x Claire romance was in my plans. Yes, rivalry can sometimes lead to pairings in the future. When were they going to be happy with each other? I don't know, but I can actually imagine the two of them being together (so yes people, you can have this theory for Heroes and Legends too)
5) This is a general one, and mostly a personal one. Yes, I have some sort of hair fetish, mostly with red haired girls (therefore Katarina and Leona) No, you can't try to fix me.
6) Every character has a name for a reason (except for Ralzith, I imagined that one up)
Nicholas/Nick: I played Left 4 Dead 2 with some friends the week before and my favorite character was… well, him.
Matt: This comes from the first PAYDAY game. In one of the heists there was a guy who betrayed the crew and you have to follow him. His name? Matt. This does not mean my Matt is going to betray someone (even though he did it by asking Jinx for help) or is a criminal.
Claire: Resident Evil is the cause here. I played a lot of Resident Evil 2 in the past and I liked the name Claire (Redfield).
Marie: So… someone watched Breaking Bad… right? And no, my Marie is not like BB's Marie.
And that's pretty much all of the secret/extra stuff about Summoning Magic. Some may be fun, others boring and some were easy to imagine, but hey, they are called fun facts for a reason, right?
Taylor9515: ...Literally slapped my screen...
Anyway, I fully enjoyed reading the adventures of Nick, Matt, Claire, Marie, and all of the champions they met. I look forward to your future writings.
See you soon :)
~Taylor9515
Errr, I hope you didn't damage your screen.
I don't know if you're following me or you are quite active in the webpage but I already released the sequel so you can enjoy the adventures of the beloved Summoners.
And yeah... well, no I don't think we'll see each other in a long time. At least not physically, but hey, see you soon too :)
KyuubiNoPuma: I want a sequel where the main character from winter's wrath joins the fray with the characters from summoning magic. o.o But also tyt, you earned your break. And I still ship Clarie and Kat... maybe they can develop some sort of feelings since their bonding is already established.. Please I also want an ommake or special to show what happens once the champs and summoners par ways..
Sejuani is still a thing in the Freljord, but with the constant battle between the three sisters, I doubt she will remember Nathan anytime soon. Yup, I earned my break back then, but an artist cannot rest forever. I already mentioned the Claire and Kat pairing. But the occasional Lesbian pairing is not that bad.
Well, maybe the ommake is on the process, although it will mostly be focused on the Champions' side. Remember, the first ommake (or Pre-Sequel as I want to call it) has started, it is called `The Ionian Incident´ and features Ralzith and Irelia for now.
Cameron: Brilliant story that was well written and well put together, is it possible for you to write another soon? You should get Riot to publish this for you and make it a movie.
Thanks man, and I am actively writing, two stories right now, so you can have some fun! Also... well, thanks for the opinion on your story, but I believe some other fanfics are more of a `movie worthy´ status.
Spuzie Senpai: So i know this review is kinda late. At first i started to read this cause u kno rated mmfor mature. I got 7 chapters in, and stopped reading (not enough lemons for my taste at that point. I started reading again 2 hours ago ( 5 months later). I am now at chapter 28 and im not reading for lemon im reading cause this story is great. I've read a lot of fanfics (wrote some too), and this is by far the best ive EVER seen.
Hey thanks for the review, and I'm happy that you enjoyed the story! Sorry for no lemons but at least Heroes and Legends has one, for now.
Have a nice day and maye the * U * guide your path.
McDouggal: Preface: I'm about halfway through.
I like the story, although the flow as I read it is a bit stilted and there are many grammatical errors.
If you'd like, throw your chapters up on dropbox in word or rich text and I'll go through and edit them for grammar.
Yeah... all of the grammatical errors are something I'm trying to look more in Heroes & Legends, at least I'm not making that many mistakes now!
This is it. A new chapter for Summoning Magic which I tried to reveal a lot of stuff. But this is not the ending, the road of writing is long and the story of our beloved Summoners and Champions is still going.
As for the schedule, the next chapter that I'm going to release is for Heroes & Legends and I will make a bit of hint right here that a new Champion `will´ appear, who will it be? Ah, you just gotta wait. After that I'll release the second chapter for The Ionian Incident, and after that... something I'm working on :)
But seriously, 2015 was quite a surprise for me since it was a year full of good stuff, either in writing, university... life, mostly. And all aside that I had a horrible beginning of 2016, there year is still young, and a lot of stories, plots and secrets shall be revealed.
Shall we discover them together?
This was Tourvelix, hoping that we, and more people, can stay together in this 2016. I bid farewell and as the curtains call I say:
See you in the next chapter ;)
