Chapter 39: Mistakes

Yawning, Kyle sat up in bed. He could see light out the window. It was morning which meant he had to get ready for school. Slowly taking in his surrounding, Kyle noticed he wasn't in his bedroom. Kyle looked down and saw Jared sleeping peacefully. Panic filled Kyle as he shook the older man.

"Jer wake up we fell asleep," Kyle said going into full panic mode. He jumped up and started getting dressed. Jared slowly sat up, rubbing his eyes.

"Wazzgoinon?" Jared slurred confused.

"It's eight o'clock in the morning," Kyle hissed as he looked at his phone.

"What? Oh shit!" Jared jumped up.

"Exactly. My dad is gonna kill me," Kyle said.

They both finished dressing in record time. Kyle bolted from the room with Jared hot his heels. Kyle froze halfway to the door. Jared, not pay attention, ran right into the blonde.

"Why'd you stop?" Jared asked confused.

"Pops," Kyle said turning to the couch where James was sitting. It was then Kyle noticed Noah and Roldy sitting quietly in the kitchen.

James stood and turned to look at his son. Kyle was scared. He would expect something like this from Kendall. The fact that James was here was worse. He was gonna be in so much trouble.

"You are in so much trouble," James said calmly. "Being late for school shouldn't even be your worry right now."

"Pops," Kyle started.

"Not a word, go now," James said pointing to the door.

Kyle closed his mouth. It wasn't worth arguing. He would only make things worse. Kyle left the apartment with his head hung low and James right behind him.

"It was nice knowing you Kyle," Noah called after him.

The ride to school was no different. James didn't say a word. The more time passed the more terrified Kyle got. This had never happened before. Kyle didn't know what to make of this.

They arrived at the school and James told Kyle that Leora had all his stuff and that he was to come right home after school. Kyle just nodded and got out of the car. He ran up the steps texting Leora for his stuff. He knew he had stepped in it big time, but James was taking it a bit too far. Kyle hoped Kendall would be more reasonable.

-We Are-

Kendall exited his office. He was greeted with the sight Penelope on the couch with in the lobby. She was digging between the he cushions. She seemed to be searching for something, paying no mind to Kendall. Kendall stood there a moment, before clearing his throat. Penelope jumped up, spinning around to greet the older blonde.

"I texted you earlier. You didn't have to come in until the afternoon. The guys and I are still working on the concept for their music video," Kendall said.

"Oh, that would be great, except I can't find my phone," Penelope said. Kendall could hear the frustration in her voice.

"Where did you have it last?" Kendall asked.

"Here yesterday," Penelope said quickly.

"Well that's vague," Kendall said.

"I use my phone the most at work. When I don't have a pen and paper I take a note. I set reminders and all sorts of stuff. Besides I've searched my entire apartment and my car," Penelope said.

"Well, I'm sure it's around somewhere," Kendall said.

Laughter was heard from the hallway. Kendall and Penelope turned as the guys walked into the lobby.

"Oh hey Pen, what's up?" Jared asked greeting the blonde girl. He avoided making eye contact with Kendall.

"Nothing, just looking for my phone," Penelope said as she continued her search through the couch.

"It's not there Pen, you've been looking there for like ten minutes now," Kendall said.

"I've searched everywhere else, it has to be here," Penelope said again.

"Pen."

Penelope whirled around to look at Matt. In his hands was a purple phone. Her jaw dropped as she ran over and snatched it from him.

"Oh my god thank you," Penelope said throwing her arms around Matt in a hug. Matt's face turned red. The guys started laughing. Penelope paid no mind to them as she checked her phone. "Great my moms been calling me all morning. I gotta go I'll see you later," she said as she took off.

"Why did you have Penelope's phone?" Roldy asked stepping up beside Matt.

"Yeah, Matty there something you want to tell us?" Jared asked stepping up on his other side.

"Like I told you Munroe, you weren't the only one with plans last night," Matt replied.

"How long has this been going on?" Noah asked curiously.

"Ok enough chit chat we have work to do," Kendall cut in.

"We were just getting to the good part Kendall," Jared groaned.

"Alright you wanna talk, where was my son last night? Why didn't he come home?" Kendall asked.

"Because I kidnapped him and held him hostage all night," Jared replied. Kendall glared at him. Jared scoffed and looked away. "We fell asleep simple as that. I am sorry, but I think you're over reacting just a bit."

"Over reacting?" Kendall asked.

"Jared shut up," Roldy said nudging the blue haired man.

"Maybe I am over reacting, but maybe I'm not," Kendall said slowly. "Let's just go meet with the directors. Please just listen to them and don't shoot down every single idea they have. I would like to shoot a video soon," he said.

"We'll try," Noah said.

"We all have to just agree to disagree. We're gonna get what we all want, so let's compromise a little alright guys," Jared said.

"Fine, but we are not picking that wacko we saw yesterday," Matt said quickly.

"Agreed." The other four chimed in unison.

"See Kendall, we're already agreeing," Jared said with a smile.

"Just go," Kendall said giving Jared a shove towards the hallway.

-We Are-

Lilly followed Leora down the hallway in a daze. She was still thinking about last night. She hadn't told anyone other than Carlos and Logan. She was scared out of her mind. She wasn't ready to be a mom yet. She didn't want this kid.

"Hey you ok? You've been awfully quiet Lil," Leora said looking over her shoulder.

"I'm fine," Lilly lied.

"Are you sure, you don't look too good," Leora said.

"I'm fine, why would I lie?" Lilly asked agitated.

"Whoa, chill I was just asking. You don't need to bite my head off," Leora said taken aback by Lilly's snappy mood.

"Sorry, I've just got a lot on my mind," Lilly apologized.

"Like what?" Leora asked.

Lilly grabbed Leora's arm and dragged her into an empty classroom. She looked around and shut the door. She sighed and turned to face Leora who was looking at her confused.

"Can you keep a secret?" Lilly asked.

"You're pregnant!" Leora gasped.

Lilly hung her head. "Yes."

There was a thud from under the desk in the front. Hushed whispers were heard. Leora quickly ran to the front of the room. She spotted Kyle and Miles huddled under the desk.

"What are you guys doing here?" Leora asked.

"We were here first," Miles said jumping up. Kyle was slower to get to his feet. Miles looked to Lilly.

"We thought you guys were someone else," Kyle said slowly.

"What did you do now?" Leora asked glaring at her brother.

"The less you know the better," Kyle said not taking his eyes off Lilly.

"Do dad and papi know," Miles asked.

Miles didn't notice the way Kyle was staring at Lilly. Leora on the other hand noticed his strange behavior. She looked between the pair and her hand flew to her mouth.

"What's wrong?" Miles asked looking to Leora confused.

"I have to go," Kyle said quickly. He bolted from the room.

Leora looked to Lilly who was looking at the floor.

"It's not what you think, it was a one time thing with someone I met at a party," Lilly said slowly.

"Liar," Leora accused.

"Hey don't talk to her like that. She's going through a lot," Miles said glaring at Leora.

"If that baby isn't a Knight I'll be surprised," Leora said not taking her eyes off Lilly.

"It's not," Lilly said shaking her head. She was in denial.

"Right so I'm supposed to believe that right after him and Jared have huge fight you're not the first person he'd run too," Leora said. Lilly's jaw dropped. "Yeah, Kyle and I talk too. To top everything off Kyle can't even remember now."

With that said, Leora turned on her heel and left the room. Lilly stood there looking at the door.

"Lil," Miles said making her jump. Lilly turned to look at him. "Are you lying because he can't remember?"

"Miles," Lilly sighed.

"That's low. You may be my sister, but he's my best friend. Don't lie to him," Miles said shaking his head.

"So much for family having your back," Lilly said bitterly.

"I do have your back Lil, but I have his back too. I just don't think lying about this is the right thing to do. It'll only hurt you both in the end," Miles said. He walked over to the door and paused. "Don't worry though, I won't tell anyone."

Lilly stood there alone. She couldn't believe Miles. He was taking Kyle's side and Kyle didn't even know. Or did he? He bolted from the room pretty quickly. What did that mean? Did he remember? Or was he upset at the fact that Lilly might've slept with someone else? It was only a few weeks ago Kyle still thought he was in love with her. Lilly shook her head. No she would go to her grave denying that Kyle was the father to her child. He didn't need this right now. He was finally getting his life back together. He deserved a break.

-We Are-

James yawned as he listened to Gia go over the format of the show. He knew what he was doing. He was going to get paid big bucks to critique male models and kick one off each week. It was his dream job. He just wanted to start.

"Are you listening?" Gia asked annoyed.

"Yes, I'm listening, I've heard this a thousand times. I am so ready for this," James said.

"I know you're eager, we start shooting soon. It'll be so much fun. We've got fourteen amazing guys. It'll be fun and you'll be working like two to three days a week," Gia said quickly.

"I know, it's finally all coming together," James sighed happily.

"How long have you wanted this?" Gia asked curiously.

"I've always wanted to be in the spotlight, even when I was little. I wanted to be a singer and a male model. I basically wanted it all," James sighed.

"You have it all," Gia said.

"Do I?" James asked.

"Yes, you were a successful singer, you've had a great modeling career, now you're a judge on one of the top fashion shows," Gia said.

"I don't look at success like that anymore though. While I am excited to further my career, I want this job, but my priorities are a bit different now," James said slowly.

"How so?" Gia asked.

"Family, I've got five wonderful kids," James said smiling at the thought of his kids.

"Oh," Gia said.

"When you have a family everything changed. Suddenly the most important thing to you is this little life you've created," James said slowly.

"Aw, you make me want to have kids," Gia said, "it's a shame I haven't met Mr. Right yet," she sighed.

"It'll happen when the time is ready. You're still young," James replied.

"Yeah, but I'm getting older," Gia sighed.

To which James added, "I have a one and a half year old daughter."

"There's still hope for me then," Gia said quickly.

"Exactly, don't be in a rush," James said smiling.

"Says the guy who had his first kid at eighteen," Gia replied.

"That was a happy mistake," James said.

-We Are-

Jake rolled his eyes as he watched Damien run about the apartment. He was cleaning and he wouldn't let Jake lift a finger to help. Normally, Jake would love this. However, ever since Jake had been told to take it easy, Damien had gone over board. He was constantly hovering around Jake, doing things for him. It was starting to get on Jake'e nerves.

"Day," Jake said.

Damien didn't seek have heard him he was sweeping the floor and trying to get something out from under their entertainment center. He was so focused.

"Day."

Still nothing. Jake was starting to get more annoyed than he already was.

"Damien."

Damien turned to look at Jake. "What?"

"You've got class in twenty minutes. If you don't want to be late I suggest you get going," Jake said.

Damien checked his phone and jumped. He finished what he was doing. He ran to their bedroom and grabbed his things. He gave Jake a kiss and a promise to be back later.

"I know Day," Jake said.

"I know I've probably been annoying these last few days, and I'm sorry I'm just worried about you and our little princess," Damien said.

"Don't you mean little prince," Jake joked.

"Whatever, I'll just be happy no matter what," Damien said. "Now I gotta go. Just take it easy."

"What do you think I've been doing," Jake asked. Damien chucked and gave him another kiss before he left.

Jake sat there smiling. Damien might be a little over bearing, but be meant well. He was only thinking about Jake and their baby.

-We Are-

Kyle tapped his foot as he pressed his phone to his ear. James hadn't taken it away yet. He was surprised, yet happy that he hadn't.

"Come on Jer, answer the phone," Kyle quietly pleaded with the phone.

"Hey this is Jared, I'm busy right now. You know what to do."

"Jer, it's me. We need to talk ASAP. Call me or come over. I don't know how much I longer I will have my phone. And do not push my dad today. I just...we need to talk."

Kyle sighed and hung up. He couldn't believe this. He started pacing. His mind was reeling. All he could think about was Lilly. She was pregnant. How could she be pregnant? Kyle knew that answer. He should have never have gone running to her in the first place. Was this kid his?

Kyle shook his head. No, it couldn't be. His memories were a bit fuzzy still, but he knew he had slept with Lilly recently, but they had used protection. Kyle never had unprotected sex. His dad's had drilled safe sex into him and his siblings for years now. Kyle has vowed to not be like Adan. I Besides wasn't Lilly on the pill?

The bell rang and Kyle jumped. He cursed himself. He was late for class. He grabbed his bag and took off running. He slipped into his class and took his seat. He didn't go unnoticed by his teacher. She gave him a tardy slip. Kyle just rolled his eyes. And took his seat once more.

-We Are-

Jared made his way to Kendall's office. The guys were still eating lunch. Jared had missed a call from Kyle. The message he had gotten from his blonde boyfriend worried him. Maybe Kendall would know what was up. He did seem a bit on the edge this morning.

Jared knocked on the office door. Kendall called for him to come in. Jared slowly opened the door and stepped in. Kendall looked up from his paper work.

"Didn't I just send you away?" Kendall asked.

"Yeah, but I kind of need to talk to you," Jared said slowly.

"About what?" Kendall asked.

"Kyle," Jared stated.

"What about him?" Kendall asked.

"He just called me and left a weird message," Jared said. "What was up this morning. James seemed really mad and you were pissed. There's something you're not telling."

"It's not my place to tell, if Kyle wants you to know he will tell you. Odds are he probably didn't know until now," Kendall said.

"Know what?" Jared asked annoyed.

"I can't tell you," Kendall sighed.

"Why not?" Jared asked.

"It's better you hear this from Kyle," Kendall said.

"Well is he grounded? Cause if he is I won't be able to see him anytime soon. You'll make sure if that," Jared replied snarkily.

"Enough, and James and I haven't decided yet," Kendall said.

"What do you mean you haven't decided?" Jared asked confused. He held a hand up cutting Kendall. "I have to talk to Kyle don't I?" He asked.

"See, you already knew the answer," Kendall replied.

"Fine, whatever," Jared said shaking his head. He stood and turned to leave the office. "Is it bad?" he asked his hand on the door.

"It all depends," Kendall said.

"On what?" Jared asked.

"How much you love my son," Kendall said.

"You already know that I love him, I may not always be good at showing it, but Kyle knows," Jared said.

"Knows what?" Kendall asked confused.

"He knows me," Jared said simply. With that he left the office.

-We Are-

Kyle scanned the sea of students herding their way through the hallway. They were all eager t get out of the building and home. Kyle was looking for Lilly. He needed to know the truth. He spotted her at her locker gathering her things.

Kyle quickly walked up to her and she turned and almost walked right into him. She looked terrified. That made Kyle more sure of things. He just wanted to hear her say it.

"Kyle," Lilly said shocked.

"Walk with me," Kyle said linking his arm with hers. She did as he asked. She remained silent. "So, when I first woke up with amnesia, you were the one I turned to, to help me."

"Yeah," Lilly said slowly.

"I wished you were honest with me," Kyle said slowly. They exited the school together. Kyle steered Lilly towards the parking lot.

"I have been honest with you," Lilly said quickly.

"And I would believe if, if it wasn't for the fact that I know I had sex with you when Jared and I were arguing and I thought we were broken up," Kyle said lowly.

Lilly stopped dead in her tracks. She had been afraid this would happen.

"Kyle it's not-" She started.

"Bull shit, do I look like an idiot to you?" Kyle asked.

"Well you do spend a lot of time with Miles," Lilly commented.

"Now is not the time for jokes," Kyle said seriously.

"Ok fine, yes you are the only guy I've ever slept with. Yes my life is over because of one mistake," Lilly said hanging her head. Tears started to slip down we cheeks.

"Your life isn't over," Kyle said.

"I'm not ready for a kid. I didn't ask for this to happen Kyle!" Lilly snapped.

"And you think I did?" Kyle asked annoyed.

"I don't know, maybe, you all seem to want to have kids young," Lilly snapped.

"Screw you," Kyle spat angrily. That was a low blow. Especially from Lilly. "I didn't want this to happen. I wasn't even looking for you that night. I was looking for Miles and someone to listen to me, not take advantage of me."

"Oh wow, you weren't exactly telling me to stop," Lilly snapped.

"You know what, forget it. I'm done," Kyle said turning on his heel. He wasn't going to sit here and let her be a bitch to him. He turned and almost ran into Miles and Leora. The two were looking at the pair shocked. "Come on Le, I'm supposed to head right home with you," he said walking away.

Leora and Miles shared a look, before Leora followed Kyle. She kept pace with him. Neither of them spoke until they got into their car, which was Jake's old car.

"What the hell was that," Leora asked.

"What do you mean what the hell? She's pregnant with my kid. You think I'm supposed to be happy about that? I'm not ready to be a dad, and how am I gonna tell Jared about this without him hating my guts?" Kyle shouted.

"On the plus side in sure dad and pops already know. I mean she's didn't say it out loud, but they all knew," Leora said slowly. "It would make sense at why they were so upset this morning, I mean besides the fact that you never came home last night."

"This isn't good Le," Kyle said.

"Yeah and Lilly already feels like shit and she doesn't need it from you," Leora said.

"Wow and you're my sister?" Kyle asked shocked.

"Yes, and I will be the one to kick your ass and set you straight," Leora said glaring at him.

"Whatever let's just go home," Kyle growled. He pulled his headphones it and started blasting music. He didn't want to talk right now.

-We Are-

Matt grinned as he looked at his phone screen. He saw Penelope was calling him. He stood and left the pool. Jared, Noah, and Roldy were all talking. None of them noticed him get up. He answered with a smile on his face.

"Hey Matt," Penelope said quickly.

"Hi," Matt said simply. He mentally cursed himself for not saying something cooler.

"Thanks again for my phone," Penelope said.

"Yeah, I figured you would miss it," Matt chuckled.

"I also wanted to thank you for last night too," Penelope said.

"Yeah, it was pretty fun," Matt said cockily. He had finally managed to wear her down, and get her to go on a date with him. He had taken her to the pier where they had a Valentine's Day carnival. They had played games and gone on a few rides. It had been amazing.

"Yeah," Penelope said thoughtfully. "I was wondering if maybe you wanted to go out sometime," she said slowly.

"Penelope are you asking me out on a date?" Matt asked with a laugh.

"Yes Matty I am," Penelope teased.

"Well then sure, when and where," Matt asked eagerly.

"Friday at eight, and leave the rest to me," Penelope said quickly.

"Great it's a date," Matt said grinning. The two said their good byes. Matt turned and saw his three friends standing behind him staring at him expectantly. "What?"

"Was that Penelope?" Noah asked.

"Got a date?" Roldy asked.

"Does little Matty have a girlfriend?" Jared teased.

"Yes it was Penelope, yes we have a date, and I sure hope so," Matt said grinning.

"Well it's about time, I thought you would never get one," Jared said clapping the taller male on the back.

"Gee thanks Munroe. You act like I've never had a girlfriend before," Matt said.

"Well you haven't really had once since high school," Roldy said.

"What's that supposed to mean?" Matt asked arching a brow at the blonde.

"We were just worried you let her get to you," Jared said.

"She was a bitch and I am over it. Not all girls are like her," Matt said quickly.

"Yeah, but we were just worried you let her get to you. They are right you have kept yourself from getting into a real relationship," Noah said.

"Pen's different," Matt said smiling.

"Good, you deserve happiness," Jared said patting Matt on the back.

Matt nodded his head. The guys were right. He may have kept himself from getting close to anyone, but not this time. He had something good going on. He wasn't going to ruin it. Nothing was going to stand in his way.

The guys decided to get some smoothies to celebrate Matt's date. They were leaving the Palm Woods when Kyle ran past them. They stopped and turned to see him turn around.

"Jared," Kyle said quickly. He ran up to him and grabbed his hand. "We need to talk."

"What's going on?" Jared asked.

"In private," Kyle said pulling the older male away.

"Whoa, slow down," Jared said stopping the younger blonde. "Where's the fire? We were just about to celebrate Matty finally getting a date with Penelope."

"Huh, awesome Matt good for you but I really need to talk to you before my dads realize I'm gone," Kyle said shifting from foot to foot.

"Did you sneak out?" Jared asked.

"Yes, I need to talk to you and make sure you hear this from me first," Kyle said looking to the guys.

"Let's go get some smoothies and leave these two be," Noah said grabbing Matt and Roldy by the shoulders and steering them away.

"What's wrong?" Jared asked.

"I messed up," Kyle said walking away. Jared followed him back inside and through the lobby. Once they were in the elevator Kyle spoke again. "You were honest with me, now it's my turn to be honest with you."

"What is it? Your dad was hinting at something earlier. Just know that I love you," Jared said.

"So when we had that argument and broke up I uh..." Kyle said slowly, "I went looking for Miles. I wanted to vent and yell and he'd listen."

"Ok," Jared said slowly.

"Miles wasn't home, Lilly was," Kyle said his voice quivering.

"What are you saying," Jared asked as the elevators doors opened on the second floor. Kyle stepped out of the elevator. Jared followed him. "Kyle, please talk to me."

The two entered the apartment. Kyle sighed and turned to face Jared. Jared crossed his arms and waited for Kyle to speak.

"Lilly's pregnant."

Jared's jaw dropped, but he quickly recovered. He took a step forward and took the younger teen into his arms. Kyle broke down sobbing. Jared's heart broke at the thought of Kyle and Lilly together. That didn't matter right now. Kyle just needed comfort. He was probably scared out of his mind. Jared would remind him that everything would be ok.

Jared led the young blonde over to the couch and made him sit down. Jared knew they were going to have to talk about this, but right now wasn't the time. Jared didn't want to go down that road. He feared he wouldn't survive the trip.

-We Are-

Lilly paced back and forth in her room. Too many people knew about her being pregnant. This wasn't what she wanted. She didn't need people knowing. This wasn't something she wanted to broadcast to the world.

"It's not like I could keep this a secret forever," Lilly sighed as she sunk into her desk chair.

It was true. She would start to show eventually. Abortion wasn't an option. While Lilly didn't want this to happen, she couldn't take it out on the baby. There were other options. She could give the baby up for adoption. She could find it a nice suitable family to live with. Kyle didn't seem to care about the baby.

That was her plan. She was going to find a family to take this kid in and love them. She would find the perfect family even if it killed her.

Lilly sighed and looked at her reflection in the window. This was the right thing to do. She knew it was going to break her dads hearts. They seemed over the shock of her being pregnant and Carlos almost seemed happy. She knew he would try and talk her out of it, but this was her decision. No one could stop her.

So there you go another chapter. Kyle is in trouble. How much trouble? Will he tell his dad's the truth? Will Lilly stick by her decision? Will Kyle like it? Will Matt let himself be happy? What will baby Jamien be? Will Jared and Kyle talk? Will Jared understand? Is this finally the end of Jyle? So much to think about. Here's another thing to think about. I already have a sequel planned for follow Kyle, Leora, Miles, and Lucas through their senior year of high school. Everyone else will be there but they shall be the main focus along with Kames and some Cargan. I hope you guys enjoyed. More to come, as always, so peace out.
