Kyrie felt awful as Dante trudged into his office slowly. Carefully he peeled off the leather jacket that he wore and let his sword clatter to the floor along with it. Generally he would shrug out of his holsters but now he gingerly unbuckled it and placed it on his desk.

He had only been wearing a black t shirt underneath, a fact he was grateful for now. He ripped the already shredded material tossing it in the waste basket hissing as it stuck to the slow closing wounds. Gently he sat in his chair with a sigh.

Kyrie stood off to the side watching the entire scene in front of her feeling the pin pricks of tears at the corners of her eyes. She dropped to her knees as the weight of her weapons suddenly became to much of a burden to bare.

"Kyrie? Are you alright? You didn't get hurt did you?" Dante asked concern evident in his voice. Kyrie gave a small hiccup in response as a sob tore through her. Her mouth moved but no words could escape.

It was her fault that Dante had been hurt. If she had been faster, stronger, and smarter it wouldn't have happened. She had never seen him in so much pain or heard him shout out in agony the way he had when he was injured.

She heard the squeak of his chair as he stood soon followed by the heavy footfalls his boots made as he crossed the floor quickly to her. The wood floor shifted as she felt him sit beside her. His arms were warm as they embraced her and pulled her closer to him causing Kyrie to sob even louder.

Her tears streamed down Dante's chest mixing with the blood that had dried and dripped onto the floor. Her arms were wrapped tightly around his neck as if to protect him from any further harm.

"So sorry, I am so..." Kyrie managed to choke out. She felt Dante's hand reach up and stroke her hair soothingly as he shushed her.

After a while her tears dried up and the sobs quieted down. Dante's wounds healed with not even a scratch where he had previously been maimed. Still they sat silently holding onto each other. Both thought of letting go but simply held on for the other and in the end silently relented to themselves that they really didn't want to.
